Login to Websites (Client Issue or Server)

Q: Login to Websites (Client Issue or Server)

I have two websites I've posted on for years (one auto, one computer) and recently I could NOT login to either site. Used standard "reset password" notice but never received email. The other day I registered on another website (medical) and again did NOT receive an email. Yet, I get emails all the time from various other systems.

I'm guessing this is on the Server side, some Update that has caused issues, but still question my system (client side) may be at fault -- especially since M$ has released a lot of security updates recently.

Anyway to verify whether Server or Client (BTW, no issues this forum)?

Preferred Solution: Login to Websites (Client Issue or Server)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am having an issue with offline files created offline syncing back to the server. I have set up a network share to be available offline on a client computer. All files are available offline without issue. Here is the issue however. If I set the folder to work offline any file I create in the folder when it is offline just disappears when the folder comes back online, there are no conflicts or sync failures reported in sync center. If I create a new folder offline the folder does sync back to the server. Any changes made to an existing file are also replicated back to the server once the share is back online. So the issue is only with newly created files when the share is offline. I have not been able to replicate this error on any other file server in our environment, However I have recreated the issue with multiple shares with multiple Win 7 clients on this file server.

Steps taken so far.

Checked and reset permission levels on the share.
Recreated new shares from scratch for testing.
Disabled and enabled offline files on the client computer and cleared the offline cache.
Check various registry entry settings.
Disabled cashing on the File server.
Tested with XP the issue does not exist with XP.

I have spent hours researching this error online to no avail.

The clients are running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit
The File server is Server 2003 Standard 32 bit with SP2

Any help or ideas would be most welcome.

I've seen the complaints about this problem but with no clear resolution. There are some hot fixes listed that may help, updating to Windows 7 SP1 is supposed to help in some cases but nothing seems for certain.

No way for me to recreate this problem but apparently others have the same problem.

I have just replaced an old XP box with our first Windows 8.1 Pro client. Joined the domain (Server 2008 R2, using active directory), seamed quite normal. When I rebooted, I received the normal windows logon screen, user name & password, entered those and logged in. The problem being, all resources on the network required me to enter network credentials. For example, try and double click on file server get following 'Windows Security' window:
Enter network credentials. Enter your credentials to connect to: SERVER.
The system cannot contact a domain controller to service the authentication request. Please try again later

I have: unjoined and rejoined client to domain; Checked active directory and the computer is correctly registered. Nothing is helping. Please help.

A:Network Credentials issue, win 8.1 client & Server 2008 AD

According to Paul Thurrott you need to add the credentials by going into the Windows vault per method #2 in the link below. If you don't add the credentials to the vault then Windows won't remember them despite checking the box to remember credentials.

He is using Windows server 08 and Homegroups with Windows 8 and he shows both methods to access network shares on the server.

No comment about the link I posed here>???

By the way I know this is solved, hoping you can come back to confirm this.

Hi All,
I have a WPF application where client is on Win 7 and server installed on Windows Server 2008. I was using a self signed certificate in the server for SSL communication between client and the server. Using this self signed certificate my client (Win 7) was
communication with the server (Windows server 2008) without any issue but recently I have observed that client could not communicate with the server. It basically can't reach to the server. SSL certificate used Sha1 algorithm and I think this problem could
be because of Sha1 deprecation by Microsoft.
I also tried to replace Sha1 certificate with Sha256 certificate and created a Sha256 certificate using the link https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Self-signed-certificate-5920a7c6. But I got the same issue with this certificate as well.
When I debugged client code I found that is is giving error when validating server certificate. Below is the error that I received while certificate validation. ChainStatus shows error - "A
certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider"
Please suggest me how can I resolve this issue.

I'm running Windows home premium 64bit, and I'm using Firefox primarily but the issue is present in IE and Chrome as well. I think the problem is logging into secure servers, I can view https sites without issue, I just can't login.

I have tried deleting cookies, history etc.
Cookies are enabled
SSL 2.0 and 3.0 are enabled
My firewall is not the issue, I have tried turning it off/adding firefox as an exception
Time and date settings are correct
System restore does not fix the issue
Not Antivirus causing the issue

How I am supposed to tell the difference so I do not make a mistake by either leaving it alone or removing it???

I'm looking at setting up windows 2003 terminal servers all over the place to replace the awful thing people are currently doing here - vncing servers with one small shared password among everyone <holding my hands over my ears for the backlash>. Don't blame me, it's another awful legacy I have to get rid of...

1. I've got to set up a Terminal Server Licensing server and was thinking about putting this on my second domain controller. I was wondering what would happen in this server dies, though. Is there some way of having resilience in this scenario? Perhaps a second Licensing server or something, the way you have 2 or more Domain Controllers?

2. Also, I know that Windows XP has an RDP client, I've used before on many occasions, but what about all the Windows 2000 clients that I still have out there. What should I do for them to access the new Terminal Servers?

A:Terminal Server license server(s)? RDP client for Windows2K?

I'm not 100% sure on #1, but I believe that the TS licensing becomes integrated into the AD, so if one DC goes down, the other one will be able to check licensing. On another note, if you are using the TS for administration only, I don't believe you needs the TS Licensing to be installed.

For #2, you can download the latest version of the RDP client from MS's website. It should also be available through Windows Updates, although I think Win2K isn't supported any longer, other than Critical Updates.

A friend is moving his business, and the new business park that he's setting up shop in does not have anyway to get any wired internet to his building, excluding a T1 line, which he can't justify the cost of.

One windows 7 machine acts as the server, primarily for Quickbooks database, and there are two other windows 7 machines that are clients, reading off said database.

He's getting one of those usb dongles for wireless internet service, for the server only (the other two computers will be tethered to a smartphone for internet for QB and windows updates periodically).

They do NOT want to share the servers wireless connection to the other machines.

My only concern was if the server will continue to try to check the LAN for internet connectivity, or will it check both network connections when one fails, or is there a setting I can tell them to change to ensure it knows to go to the wireless dongle for internet all the time, without interfering with the workstations talking to the server over the LAN to get to the database?

The setup at the old office was business class DSL, they are using a relatively new Linksys router, which had the DSL authentication information.

Thank you!

I managed to find a solution this morning, for anyone that's interested, the whole article is here: Multiple Network Connections at the Same Time on Windows | Ivan Zlatev

But the short answer is, under the advanced properties of TCP/IP v4, uncheck automatic metric, set your internet to a value of 1, and the LAN to a value of 9999.

Hi I'm working on a client/server with the Java programming language and trying to figure out how to protect my server. With my current Virus/Firewall protection suite theres nothing I can do to keep out unwanted Java applications on the port I choose to allow the Java SE Binary through for clients accessing the server application. ESET Smart Security 4 is what I am using. Does anybody know of a security suite that would allow only a specific Java application to get through the firewall? I'm not to sure on this subject because my firewall is identifying any Java application as only the "Java SE Binary" and not I'm sure if you can even really name your Java application like you would something you would write in C++. I have downloaded AVG anti virus, spybot destroy, adaware for any virus etc but comes up with nothing.

My 1st pc can access the msn website and hotmail or any microsoft website. I also tried connecting a another PC to my 1st pc and that computer couldn't access hotmail.com or msn.com. I have tried turning firewall off on 1st PC + windows firewall too.

I have also done scans on all 3 computers.

Any ideas why this is happening.

What's up with Vista 64 (Vista) not allowing the same user; login/pass to acess a network device?

I've got a small network in my office and I have just purchased a new laptop with Vista64 on it. I'm trying to access a Network drive device with my login/pass (it works on all other computers) but not the Vista64 box?

I get an error: "share is not accessible. You might not have permission (which I know my login/pass does becuase I'm logged in with XP on two other boxes).

But there's the paragraph; "Multiple connections to a server or shared resouces by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed, Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again".

What the heck I want to keep the same login (ME) to access a devise... is this really how it has to be with Vista?

Installed on a Novell network. How can I make the Novell client the default?

A:Default login client

What client did you install? Did you install the actual client from Novell or did you install the one that Microsoft provides? If you installed the one from Novell, it should automatically be the default client to logon with. I really don't know how the Microsoft provided client works. I tried it once long ago to see if I could resolve an issue but couldn't get it to work.

Hi Everyone,

Prior to upgrading, I was using Windows XP Professional SP3 32-Bit and Contivity VPN Client version 4. I was able to connect via VPN just fine. I did some research and found NVC64-10.01.103 and NVC64-10.01.053 clients which are compatible with Windows 7 64-bit. They installed just fine. The problem is when I connect, it always says authentication failed. I've configured it in the same way as my Version 4 client that used to run in XP.

My work around now is to install VMware then loaded XP. I need to run the virtual machine to be able to connect via VPN. This is inconvenient and I would appreciate any ideas on how I could make it natively work with Windows 7.

Thanks in advance.

Trouble is that it bypasses the domain login regardless of network settings. (I've at least 10 other 95 and 95 clients that work perfectly and login, so I think the settings are correct)

Is there a registry setting or something that would allow a user to bypass the login, or set a constant login and pass?

Thanks for any info.

Hi. I see that a couple of people are having a similar issue with Facebook. My problem is with Dogphoria. I can't log-in for the past week from home--my laptop at Starbucks and my work computer have no problem logging in. I did everything Shaldares suggested for beckybrooke: clear history, cookies, cache, ssl states, unplug modem/restart computer and finally tried to get my ISP to help.

Here is where I am stuck: The "help" guy at my ISP told me to:
1. Go to the [Start] button located in the task bar.
2. Click on [Run], in the blank space type "cmd", hit enter.
3. A "DOS" screen appears.
4. Type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter.

However, when I do this, I do not get a blank dos screen, only one that says
Micrsoft Windows XP...
c:\documents and settings...

and the guy at the ISP got a little rude and told me I am not following directions. Am I doing something wrong? Should I do something else?

Thanks in advance!

I hope this is in the right place- looked around and it seems the best.

Alright, so I can't login to some websites. They've worked before, and now they just won't login. Nothing happens when I click 'Enter' or 'Submit'- the page just sort of refreshes without logging me in. Some sites work, some don't. On some sites, when I request my password to be sent to me, it sends, and on others it does the same thing- just reloads the page without actually doing anything. It does this both on Internet Explorer and Firefox.

If someone could help, I'd really appreciate it as I am completely clueless to what the problem is.

A:Can't login to some websites

Which sites are you having problems with? Other members here might possibly also be members of one or more of the sites in question and may be able to check for you to see if they can log in. In the mean time, try clearing your cookies and temporary internet files.

Novell Client for Windows v.4.90

A year ago I installed Novell Client software to help run IPX network. All was fine until recently, when I created separate user accounts on my computer, for the first time. Novell disregarded all my new settings except for the one where I turned the original "owner" account into a limited account. Now, I can't log in as anything but a limited user, or a guest. This gives me very limited access to my system and, furthermore, I am totally prevented from changing back the settings from inside WinXP. Novell's software is also totally unco-operative, in my eyes, or, at least, extremely user un-friendly.

Has anyone had to deal with this before? How do you solve it? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hi, I have a windows machine here that is having trouble connecting to secure protocols. I have tested https in IE and FF as well as trying to connect with putty to my ssh server. Both failed every time.

The system is running Windows Vista SP1. It is a HP DV7-1135nr Notebook. I have tried mail.yahoo.com, gmail.com, Microsoft's secure websites, and a few others that require going through a https connection.

I've tried disabling the windows firewall and that failed. I've tried connecting to two separate networks, that was a no go. I have been googling around for solutions including making sure that the ssl 2.0 and ssl 3.0 are ticked in IE, I have verified that the sure protocols are enabled in firefox and they are still unable to connect. I've even temperarly opened port 443 in the windows firewall but didn't succeed.

I'm sure there are other options but I've pretty much ruled out the possibility of a problem on the routers, modems, and isps. Tonight, I'll try connecting via a wire to see if the wireless is at fault. I can successfully connect to them through a web proxy or by using a VM but that requires too much overhead in order to connect.

This is my mom's laptop and she needs it to pay bills and such. Currently she has to resort to other machines to get the job done. VMs are a whole nother world to her. Please help me, thanks.

While surfing yesterday my AVG alerted me to a Trojan horse: Generic2_c.AFRB, which a scan identified in three different places - two it was able to heal, but the third, System 32\winlogon.exe(680), the AVG said it could not fix. It asked if I wanted to force it (delete it), I said yes, but the I kept getting an AVG popup saying there was a trogan in that location. I finally set Resident Shield to automatic, and the problem seemed to be fixed. A further scan found no problems, and Advanced System Care and IOBIT Security find no problems. But....I can't login to my online banking, or if I can it takes 45 minutes to load a page. I can't login to any credit card site, and it even took me forever today to pay my cell phone bill. All other websites are fine. So, do I still have this Trojan? (I also don't know what the 680 after the winlogon.exe means.) I will go now to a clean computer to change all my passwords, but I can't figure out why I can't login to any site that involves paying a bill online or banking, and don't know what to do about it.

Hi! I've been having trouble accessing a few veryyyy important websites. (to me )

Youtube ( http://www.youtube.com )
Lockerz ( http://www.lockerz.com )
and a game-related bank ( http://etjelle.info/bank )

Now, they all work fine, until i try to log in. Everytime it either ignores my login attempt or declines the password and/or email. I have not been hacked though, I know this for sure
However i moved last week, and that's when these problems started occurring, so i'm pretty sure that has to do something with it :/

I tried using a different browser, and a different account on my computer ...no luck.

A few people told me to clear my caches and cookies, which i did (tools --> delete browsin his..etc)
But it still doesnt work for me (obviously.. lol)
Has anyone had the same problem as me, if so, how'd you solve it?
If you know how to solve it, i'd love to hear from you! Help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to fix my computer and i've done everything I can think of to fix the solution but I've accomplished nothing but finding out that everything i've tried isn't the solution. All my games or the norton anti-virus can update or connect to any servers, and mozilla is the same way. When I try to login to myspace or yahoo and places such as that it sends me to either a aol google search for the website or goes straight to a connection problem page. Thanks for any help!

Hi, I recently bought a new Asus Laptop and am having difficulty login into some of my universities pages with the new computer (namely outlook web access and some library login pages). This happens regardless of connection type (LAN, WLAN and Mobile Broadband). I have reset IPCONFIG and other network settings and have disabled anti-virus software to no avail. So far, my universities website is the only one it is having difficulty with with other websites like facebook having no problems logging in. This happens regardless of browser also. In internet explorer, some of the images fail to load on the page (indicating the page won't fully load) and this is obviously followed by the fact that page says 'connection error' after clicking the login button and waiting around 30 seconds. It is also evident that this is not an issue on the university's side, with nobody else I know having experienced this problem.

Any help on this issues would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys, I'm pulling my hair out here trying to understand Winsock headers.

My lecturer must have a sick sense of humour as he's set us the task of writing a UDP client/server after only studying C++ for 2 months.

I've managed to get a server up and listening to a socket. I've got the client to send the message and the server to pick it up and print it to screen.

The remaining horrors are

1) Read the IP address of sender and print to screen... just reading to a vairiable is the bit I'm stuck at.

2) Echoing the message back to sender and reading it...I'm a bit lost on this - can this be done with a simple swap from a send to receive socket? And how does the server get the info to send to client - may be related to 1) above.

Any help you guys can give would be great.

Im thinking about getting windows server 2008 and building a machine for it to use as well, a server, for storage and hosting multiplayer games.

So my question is, how much faster or smoother would a dedicated game server run on a actual server machine rather than a peer to peer client machine?

Would i beable to notice the benefits? Would it be a waste of money?

A:Server or Client?

It would be a huge waste of money in a home setting IMO. There is very little to be gained, and the server versions of Windows are pretty costly.
