I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I recently reinstalled Windows 7 on my PC, coming from Windows 10. Installed all the drivers and upgraded bios without any complications at all. But when I press a hotkey-combo, for example FN+F5 to lower screen brightness, I recieve an error saying "hpCaslNotificiation has stopped working". If I press this, or any other FN+key combo I'll get this message (even though the screen does in fact dim). Even if I press ten times, I will get ten error messages on top of each other. I have the latest Hotkey Support drivers installed right now, and I have tried to install an earlier version to no avail. Can anybody help me?  Probook 640 G2, I5, 16GB RAM, 256SSD Win7 Pro x64 Regards

Is there a software such as Hotkey maker? Or whatever it is as long as it can make a new Hotkey..

Why? Because my keyboard has a few buttons that are not working, so I need a hotkey for those so I will not find that characters anymore.

I just want a SIMPLE hotkey maker, just a very simple one, I just want it for my keyboard problems, and not other things.

Many many thanks

Hey guys!

Just found out something really cool and useful. It's like 3D flip but better, as all the active windows become smaller but are facing forward, which makes it easier to choose the needed one. When you point them with your mouse, it shows the software/folder name.

I know the alt + tab and win + tab combos, but there has to be some for this one too I guess. Haven't found it even though I tried searching the Interner for hotkey guides.

The way I found this option was when I was using my Logitech mouse on my laptop, and started customizing the mouse buttons... I found a button command "switch between software", chose it, and found this option out. How can I do the same thing without my mouse, just using some keyboard combo?

Here's a pic of how it looks. Originally Microsoft Word was on top, after pressing the button all the windows were resized and placed next to each other.

Thanks in advance guys!

A:Hotkey for switching software (like 3D flip)?

Not sure if it helps but you could try Win+T which will bring all active taskbar previews up at 1 time allowing for quick selection of the app/window you want

OS

EDIT: for some reason it's stopped working...Hmm, looking for solution now

UPDATE 2: it only shows multiple instances if you have more than 1 windows for the same app open e.g. 3 tabs on IE...

Sorry

hi

This is a bit of a convoluted story but here goes...

I have an old PC (the oldest of several) which in which I want to upgrade 3 PATA HDs for 2 large (500GB) SATA-1 drives.

PC spec = Asus P4 PE, P4 Northwood 533FSB 3.06GHz, 1 GB pc2700 ram, 2 soundcards (I'm a musician), Win XP SP2 etc.

The first thing I did was enable RAID/SATA in BIOS & then install the Promise 376 Fasttrack RAID/SATA driver on all OS partitions (4 in all, spread across the 3 drives).

Now, of course, a get a quick POST message saying that "no RAID/SATA device detected", because I haven't installed them yet. However this message then disappears and my boot manager utility loads as usual (BootIt NG).

Then it occured to me that I hadn't installed either the Intel Application Accelerator or Chipset Software Installation utilities (as listed on the available downloads for P4 PE at Asus site).

So I installed the IAA first on one partition - but when I tried to reboot into this, the "no RAID/SATA" message came up before and after the BootItNG screen and the system rebooted again.

I got it to boot into the partition again & promptly uninstalled the IAA because I thought it was causing me the problem.

Then I installed the Chipset Installation utility.

This time, after rebooting into the "music" partition, many of the music software applications were not sending MIDI to one of the soundcards correctly, and the selected audio drivers had changed (f... Read more

A:Possible problem after Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility installation ?

both the chipset and the IAA are supposed to be installed FIRST THING after the install of the OS...I suspect that the later day install is what caused all the drivers to go *poof*...if your system is operating OK at this point just go with it, but if/when you do a wipe and clean install remember to install these items the first time you boot into your clean install, reboot, then carry on with installing other items...

The install of the .dll files should be done by Windows Installer. To do it go into Device Manager delete all sound devices and reboot. Windows will discover the sound card and prompt you. Then select Have Disk and follow the instructions.

HP Support Assistant showed a number of new driver updates for my zBook G2- I was able to update and install most of them, but a few always show "Installation Failed" at the end. Downloading appears to be working, then it shows "Installing...", and after a minute or two a popup shows "Installation Failed!". No explanation or indication of why it failed. The failing updates are: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI SP73263HP Bios Config Utility (BCU) SP74840HP Universal Camera Driver 2014 SP70322 Note that I have recently installed Bitdefender Total Security 2016 (Anti-virus & Firewall), and I suspect it may be at fault, simply because I have never experienced failed updates through HP Support Assistant before. I have switched off as much of Bitdefender as I can, and tried the updates, but they still fail. Unfortunately there is no way to disable Bitdefender entirely, without totally uninstalling it. Is there a known issue with Bitdefender and HP Support Assistant? Or is there something else to try, or another way to troubleshoot this problem? Mahaloz-joel.

A:HP Support Assistant: "Update installation failed!"

@joel_MaunaKea? There are few times that I give flat out advice, this is one of the exceptions: Never, ever let the HP Support Assistant update your BIOS. Set HPSA settings to notify > reopen the program > check for Updates >take  note of the suggested BIOS action >"Ignore" / Hide the BIOS entry from the list. If you are not having system issues, consider that you may NOT need nor want the BIOS to be updated. At the least, make sure you have a full set of backups, recovery media, and access to your critical files BEFORE you update the BIOS.  Even doing everything right does not guarentee you won't have problems. Updates ? Hi,

I recently deleted a number of programs which I was not usuing and were pretty useless to me. It seems that since doing so I have had a number of problems. I did a system resore thinking this would put me back to the fine state my laptop was in before, but no luck.

Now, when I try to remove any programs from the add/remove program list there it seems impossible to do so as I get a number of notices which use different wordings to say that I the program cannot be removed. The most common being:

"An installation support file could not be installed, the system cannot find the file specified"

I am running Windows XP

I tried updating using ikernal update, but that doesnt seem to do anything. I found a post which told me to delete the following registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{00020420-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\InprocServer32".

Is this the right thing to do? Can someone help?!!

Thanks a lot,

Hallo,

I've got problems, to install a printer. It's a Lexmark X125, not only a printer, you can scan and fax with it too. I had it running before without any trouble, but the printer-software often froze when I shut down the pc. Then I started switching of electricity at night and after a while the printer didn't work anymore. So I removed the software and tried to install it again now and I get the following message: A support-file "C:\DOKUME~1\Ich\LOKALE~1\Temp\{88739060-f683-11d3-b761-00105ad153c1}\inst.32.dll" for an istallation couldn't be installed. What have I done wrong? What to do about it? I would appreciate any answer, because I've got no idea how to proceed.

I'm using Win XP, SP 2.

In control panel/regional and language options/install files for East Asian Languages, it asks me to insert the Windows XP CD because CDLEXE.EXE is missing. But, i bought my computer and it only comes with a Windows XP drivers disk and a Windows XP system restore disk. Is there anywhere i can get this folder: i386/Lang, with all the files, or another way of installing these support files? thanks.

Three features of HP support assistant -- downloading updates, gathering info, analyzing system -- now also failing.I have tried to reload the new version from the www.hp.com/go/hpsupportassistant but it does not work.I cannot find the software to uninstall this program to start over from scratch. HP has created a problem for its users when there were none. My warranty is no longer in effect so it seems crazy that I might have to pay HP to fix a problem that was caused by them. Has anyone found a way to fix this problem?

Hi ladies and gentleman!

I am searching for reliable, secure, and fast Remote Support Package and/or Remote Administration Software on the enterprise level.

I know about RealVNC, TightVNC, Windows Built-in Remote Support, but Im looking for something more reliable, with less user interaction & knowledge required.

Anyone on here know of any out on the market? Id appreciate any links or information that you could provide.

It would be great if someone has actually tested or used some of the software & could recommend it, but even if you havent used them any type of reference would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & have a wonderful day!

Shane

PS: I did a search, but I kept ending up in the malware & virus removal section.
