Ideapad 100s11IBY touchpad tap to click issue

Q: Ideapad 100s11IBY touchpad tap to click issue

The 100s has no way to disable tap to click on the touchpad. This 'feature' makes it nearly impossible for me to use the touchpad, and I bought this laptop for it to be entirely self contained. The the touchpad uses the microsoft HiD Driver. There is no option to disable tap to click in Windows Settings or the HiD driver in the device manager. Is there any 32bit driver or other solution to disable tap to click?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I just bought an Ideapad 700 and I love everything about it until I noticed I couldn't bring up a context menu (right click, popup menu, whatever you call it where you are).  I tried for nearly 3 hours and the best I came up with was making the 3 finger double tap into the right click menu.  Uninstalling the elantech driver and using the Microsoft Windows 10 driver didn't work.  I installed the Asus driver and that actually did work for the 2 finger double tap right click, but I hate that too.  I just want normal touchpad behavior where you hit the right button area for the context menu.  Is there any way to do that behavior, or just have 2 finger single tap?  I didn't expect to pay this much for a laptop and spend hours on something this stupid.  It's almost becoming a deal-breaker for me.

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501, WinXP, and the touchpad is doing double and even triple clicks when I do a single click. The problem is intermittent. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's horrendous. This almost cripples the computer for doing any serious work (3 windows open instead of one, programs get closed by accident, windows pop up and down all over the place). I have reintstalled the touchpad driver from Dell several times, I have fiddled with all mouse settings in control panel, and I have replaced the actual touchpad hardware, the housing that includes the touchpad, so I don't think it's the physical button itself. However, an external mouse connected to the computer does not have this issue, so it could still be the hardware. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Aaron.

Hello there, I've bought this laptop ( Lenovo IdeaPad 300 ) about 2 or 3 months ago and I've had the same issue all the time. First, I met the PalmTracking [Elan] Issue which is configuring PalmTracking through Elan or Windows doesn't work until I have found a fix which is to uninstall the Elan Driver untill they update it but it lead to another issue which is it gets automatically reinstalled after a restart, so I need a fix that won't need me to do it repetitvely. And then my trackpad suddenly just started moving so fast and randomly clicked about 50 or 100 Clicks per second ( not the real, approx with my vision ) everytime I just touch the TouchPad. I don't know what caused this issue. Note: I bought a mouse so I can use the laptop in a better way and in playing games, but I still use the trackpad. Thanks for your time.

Hello,

I have a new U920t-102 which I am very happy with, but I have this issue with the mousepad's right click (meaning the 'button' the user is able to press on the bottom-right side of the mousepad): sometimes it actually works as a right click, sometimes it works as a left click.
This is annoying especially during web navigation: I'm used to right click on links and open them in a new tab, but when the right click acts as left, I loose the current web page.

I tried to figure out what this behaviour depends on, looking at the animated synaptic icon in windows' tray bar while playing with the left and right click; if I continuosly press the right click button on the mousepad, after some repetitions it will consistely and correctly work as right click, but if press the left click once or more than once, the right click button works as left click for some pressures, and then 'corrects' itself and start again to work correctly.

Any idea/suggestion? is it a hardware problem?

Marco

A:Satellite U920t-102 touchpad right click issue

Usually the touchpad right / left click can be configured in the Synaptics settings.
Right click on Synaptics icon in tray and point to devices properties.
In buttons tab you will be able to choose right handed scheme or left handed.
Here you could choose the scheme appropriate for you.

You can also try to uninstall the Synaptics touchpad driver and could test the touchpad functionality without the usage of additional touchpad software.

But if this doesn’t help, your might have hardware problem

Hi, When using the touchpad on my T430, my click buttons rarely work as intended. Sometimes, they begin to work after the laptop goes to sleep, or occasionally an entire boot is okay. However, this is rare. When it isn't working, what happens is that the right click doesn't function at all, and the left click seems to be more of a left click + context menu key rather than a pure left click. I've tried reinstalling the Ultranav drivers, restoring their settings to the default (I can confirm that the left click is set up to function as a left click, and right as a right click - if I set up the right click to function as a left click, both do the odd context menu behavior), and even doing a complete BIOS update, to no avail. I've yet to try this in another OS, so I haven't yet isolated this to a hardware or software issue. What could be my issue? I am not under warranty and would prefer to not send in my laptop for repair. EDIT: I was able to fix the weird context menu behavior by disabling the Menu Key in SharpKeys (mapping key 117 (0x0075) to do nothing (0x0000)). However, my right click still does nothing. I can bind it using the Ultranav settings to be a left click, and in this mode, it left clicks. Anything bound to be a right click literaly does nothing. Any ideas? EDIT2: I ran sfc /scannow on an elevated command prompt and it fixed a lot of errors. It drastically sped up my computer; what's odd is that I've hardly installed anything on here, ... Read more

This is a good example of how extremely annoying this problem is.. I just typed out my entire question, went to backspace on a word, and my mouse clicked elsewhere, and backed me up to the previous page. I'm furious >.<

Tap to click is driving me crazy, because my touchpad is so sensitive that while I'm typing my wrists set it off. I don't have an external mouse, so all I want disabled is the tap to click itself.

I have been reading forums all day trying to find a fix to my problem. At first, I did not have "Device settings" tab available on my touchpad properties. I was told to install a driver, which then provided that tab. I was told within that tab to click on settings, and there would be a click box to uncheck. There isn't. All I can change is what the two click buttons do. It says nothing about the touchpad itself. Anyone understand this? I would really appreciate the help. I'm getting frustrated >.<

Hi,

I have a SATELLITE Click Mini L9W-B tablet not used for a while.
Tablet docked to the keyboard, I plugged it to charger and it is charging.

When I turned on the device, windows 10 started and loaded up to desktop.
But once loaded nothing is responding.
Touch screen is not working.
Keyboard is not working.
Touchpad is not working.

On windows desktop, I have dynamic tiles updating.
This way, I can tell the device is not freeze or crashed.
Sound or power buttons are not doing anything but if I press power for around 10 seconds, the device power off.

I managed booting to bios and from here, everything is working fine.
The keyboard is fully responding, as well as the touch screen and touchpad.

I tried to boot the tablet without the dock, the touch screen is not respoding.
I docked the tablet but nothing happen.

Looks like a windows issue.
But I can't run recovery because it's powered by windows and nothing is responding from here too.

Please, I'm stuck and need help to find a way recover usage of my device.

Hi so my Windows 10 XPS L502X touchpad has started behaving weirdly. I believe this is because of some Windows 10 updates, I am not sure.
The problem is that since laptop starts the left click seems to be sending clicked signal forever. Because of this on boot, the mouse starts in selection mode, I need to press the left click on an external mouse to disengage selection mode. But still the left click and tap to left click dont work.
But the weird part is when I change right touch pad button to left click behavior in settings. Then even the right button would now stop working. And if I change the left click button behavior to anything else then left click behavior then left click starts working too.
Hence coming to the conclusion that its a driver issue and not hardware problem.
However when I boot my laptop in Ubuntu, the left click is again in clicked mode and starts selecting stuff. Now if this was a driver problem then why is Ubuntu showing same issue. Is this a Hardware problem now. Now since dell officially does not support Win 10 on L502x. I request my fellow L502x owners using Windows 10 to share their driver details. And if anyone from Dell can share their thoughts. Regards.

Have had Y410p for years without this issue. Now when I move the mouse cursor across the screen, it auto clicks/auto selects (without me tapping or clicking) and then release automatically as well. It will do this continuously as I keep moving the mouse cursor with the Touchpad. This is super annoying and causes multiple issues with my ability do most things on my Lenovo laptop. The two biggest problems are: click buttons which I do not intend and selecting/moving icons & screens which I do not intend. And it makes it nearly impossible to use the laptop for gaming. I have downloaded and reinstalled the Touchpad ELAN driver (version 11.4.17.1 for my O/S Windows 8). I have gone through Mouse Properities setting and ELAN Smart-Pad settings. I have disabled Tapping, but does not make a difference. I have set Sensitivity to max Low and then max High, but does not make a difference. Any ideas on how to solve this particularly annoying Touchpad issue? Help please! Thanks.

A:IdeaPad Touchpad issue with auto-clicking/auto-selecting when moving mouse cursor

Disable TAPPING in the Synaptic control panel. See the screen shot via the Device settings tab and properties. TAPPING is unchecked - a useless feature and a easy way to wreck and operating system and/or loose files. Its far too easy to tap drag and drop a folder or worst without realizing it until its too late. If its a system fie/folder you likely won't boot the next time or you kill an application. I have been diabling this on notebooks for decades. DEADLY feature.

Hi
Running Win10 on an Acer E5-511-C46Y.
I have an Elantech touchpad which every so often (maybe weekly) decides it's no longer going to do tap to click (my preferred setting) and is going to behave as though I am clicking and dragging the whole time. So I have to click instead of tap. It's mighty annoying.
I have done all the obvious things - driver up to date, BIOS version is the latest, settings are fine and disabling/enabling has no impact. The only cure seems to be turning the computer off and on again (who knew?!)
Acer say reset, but suspect that's the recommendation for every unsolved issue.
Is there a way to restart touchpad and reload all the drivers (essentially, to do what the laptop would do when rebooting) but without restarting?
Many thanks in advance...

Hello all, from a few days until now I have started experiencing what seems to be a recurrent problem in the P50 laptop touchpad drivers. When using the driver 19.3.4.16 for synaptics pointing device, the left button of the touchpad double clicks most of the times (about 70-80% of the time). If I decide to update my drivers to the latest version, 19.3.4.202, then something even worse happens: the left and right buttons are inverted (and I have checked that the box of inverting the buttons in control panel is unclicked). From what I have been reading this has been an issue that has happened before already, but I don't know if Lenovo fixed it, or it has just been unsolved until now. Maybe someone around here can help me with this?

I've received a shiny new ThinkPad T470 today, a much needed upgrade from my T410. Should the bottom left & right corners of the touchpad actually physically "click" when pressed, or is it purely a tap-sensitive device? The touchpad seems to be lower by 1-2mm at the bottom end than at the top end, it doesn't sit flush at the bottom whereas it's level with the main chassis at the top.

Should the bottom left & right corners of the touchpad actually physically "click" when pressed, or is it purely a tap-sensitive device? Yes, or at least mine does, and it works. The touchpad seems to be lower by 1-2mm at the bottom end than at the top end, it doesn't sit flush at the bottom whereas it's level with the main chassis at the top. Mine is slightly below the main chassis on all 4 sides, and the same depth on all 4 sides.

Is there a way to enable a key or something to right click using the touchpad, sorta like a mac? It could be a keyboard key, 2 fingers idc.

A:Right Click with Synapsis touchpad?

There are probably programs out there that can substitute a key such as Alt to perform right click functions, but I've never heard of them.

As far as the multi-touch functionality goes, unless your touchpad has multi-touch, there's no way to enable it. It's not entirely a software function, it also relies on hardware. This is why you can use multi-touch with some touchpads and not with others. It's also why a Macbook Pro's touchpad has more multi-touch features on the OS X side than on the Windows 7 side.

Basic story is that I bought my lenovo laptop about a year ago. I was excited when I received it, however, I quickly realized that the right mouse click button did not work correctly. You have to press it very hard and it regularly fails to work. As far as I can tell from reading around, the synaptics version of the pad had issues that were resolved by a driver update. Has there been any sort of fix for the ELAN version? I've tried both uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers available (as far as I can tell) to no benefit. Would really love to get this fixed so that I can use this laptop as intended.

I bought a brand new Windows 10 ACER Aspire E5 series laptop computer back in February. I have not had any issues at all with it. But today I have this very annoying issue. When I lightly tap my touchpad on links instead of opening the link like it had been doing previously all it does is highlight the link and drag it all over the screen. The same issue happens when I try to switch tabs. It locks onto the tab and I have to click again for it to release. This is very annoying when all I'm wanting to do is switch tabs.

My touchpad is one of those multigester ones and I have turned off the following options

I don't know why it started doing this today. I also have clicklock turned off under additional mouse options.

I tried a couple versions of the 64 bit drivers (synaptics , from their website and the ones from gateway). I still see the same issue.

Anyone else experience this?

I removed my Synaptic touchpad driver- (restart to remove, then restart again to enable the Microsoft tap/scrolling feature)

Microsoft touchpad driver/software is much better without the glitches.

Greetings. I have a brand new Ideapad 320-15IAP laptop - actually two of them! One is just fine the other has a problem with the touchpad. Both have had Windows deleted and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS installed. One of the laptops has normal touchpad function except when trying to drag (pressing the left click and moving the cursor with the touchpad). Once the left click is pressed, the touchpad will not move the cursor. A USB mouse works normally on the malfunctioning laptop. Since the other identical laptop works fine and both were upgraded to Ubuntu in the same hour, and USB mouse works OK; it is clearly neither a driver issue nor an OS issue. But here are my questions: 1) how do I request service to repair this touchpad?2) preliminary checks suggest I would have to ship it to the USA, but can that be correct? Does Lenovo provide a shipping authorization?3) Since Lenovo support seems to be software-focused, how will the presence of Ubuntu OS affect my prognosis? I did not see any information with the laptop when I purchased it requiring that I retain Windows as my OS to retain warranty coverage - did I miss some small print somewhere? Thank you for your kind assistance!

A:Touchpad not working on ideapad 300. How do I fix ...

Hi there, Tom ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Just found the same problem with my Ideapad 500. Touch pad completely non responsive.
Under start menu, settings, devices, mouse & touchpad, additional mouse options, elan tab. The elan touchpad settings were completely grayed out and unavailable.

So from there I went to the window search in the task bar and typed in "computer management? and opened the computer management desktop app. Under device manager selected mice and other pointing devices and then elan input device. In the elan properties window that opened I selected uninstall to uninstall the driver and in the next box that opened warning that the driver was about to be uninstalled l checked the delete driver and then OK.
Then restarted windows. In the process of restarting windows detected the elan touchpad as a new device and installed the driver in time for the login screen. So my elan touch pad is now working again.

I am assuming that the driver had been corrupted in the upgrade from Windows 8.1 to 10

Touchpad driver for windows 10
Touchpad driver for windows 8.1

Update us how it goes.
