I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: how can i tracing the ph. no.,St. Address, owner name by the e-mail address

you can try typing the email address in google or you can go to one of those sites where you pay for them to get others private info. Thats the best you can do.

If there is illegal activity going on, just turn the email over to the authorities.

I was wondering if anyone might happen to know as to how I might be able to find out where an e-mail really came from. I'm using Outlook 2010 and I'm aware of checking the header information, but I'm not quite sure as to which one of the received from IP's might actually designate where the person is actually sending the e-mail from.

Here are the headers of two e-mails that I have. If you can tell me as to where they are really from, then I would appreciate it because as to date I haven't been able to figure it out.

[E-mail headers removed by Administrator]
If you can tell me as to what lines to really look at to determine where these e-mails actually originated from then I would greatly appreciate it.

Both individuals are using Yahoo. I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not, but I thought that I would include that bit of information as I've been trying to understand this better for a long time, but with little to no success.

The sender of the first e-mail indicates that they are in London.

The sender of the second e-mail lead me to believe at the time the e-mail was sent that he was in the United States. I first thought that the guy was in Tennessee, but he later said that he was in Texas.

What I'm trying to determine is as to whether someone really is in the Country, city, or state that they claim that they are or if they are actually just telling me a lie.

A:E-Mail Address IP tracing

Unfortunately, a whois lookup on the sender's IP address will only return Yahoo's location in California. In this case, there's no way of knowing the location of the sender.

If the sender were using an email client with a local ISP, then you could at least know from which city the email messages were coming from. Keep in mind though that these lookups are never really accurate.

Won't always do you any good if they are on a national sort of ISP. You can use a utility to look up the host name and that will at least tell you their ISP info and you can go from there.

does anyone know the dos command for tracing web addresses through the network. I am not getting to certain web sites.
for instants: microsoft.com,dell.com,cnet.com,zdnet.com. these are sites I go to and use a lot, didn't have trouble before but now I can't reach them. called the cable company and he said the toruble was in my computer, said to reload win.98 in again. did that and still no go.called again and told them, said sounds like dns trouble in their system that they would check it out. been a week and still can't reach the sites.they had me trace the address through dos and found it only went 13 jumps and stopped. gave them the ip address it stopped at and haven't heard from them yet. been 3 more days. forgot the command they gave me to trace the jumps. was going to try it to see if they were even working on the problem.this is very flustrating not being able to get anywhere on the net. everything on my computer is working fine.thank you,Ron

I need a way to find out who is behind an IP address. They left a nasty comment on my site and I want to know who it is. Anyone have an idea of how I can do this for free?

A:Tracing an IP address

You find out what ISP this IP address belongs to.
Doing a traceroute on it is the first step. This way you could even find out if the IP belongs to some company/institution or if it is a home user.

Then you call the ISP and ask them to whom this address was assigned to at the time of posting the comment. You need to give them a very good reason to give out that information though. Especially with this RIAA thing going on.

Please excuse me if this is in the wrong forum, wasn't too sure where to post, here or the Network board.

In short, how can a website user acquire an IP address without having access to the database that logs it or admin access to view it? There is also no email that can be researched into. The user is that is tracing the IP addresses is blatantly an average computer user. If you want the full gist read on.

***
A particular group of users are using an account to troll around and make jokes (not to the annoyance of anyone worry not) but of course everyone else is trying to figure it out who the regular user is, I am well aware of who is responsible. Someone who fancies himself as a whizkid somehow managed to get hold of the IP address of this mock account. He traced the address posted where it led to (with a look-up/who-is etc), then did another but got somewhere else and yet again did another to get another place (different people using the account) then he claims each time the trace was pending. We do know the addresses are correct because of where they were ending up.
***

The mock account has no email address that be looked into or anything of that sort and only the site owner has access to user IP addresses, so basically in short we're wondering how he is acquiring the address to trace.

Please excuse me if you think this is childish, it's just a bit of fun in a close knit community trying to better each other daily with friendly banter.

I see you are keeping details a secret, such as what programs are involved.

If by chance it is Outlook Express, you can try this...
OE->Tools->Options->Send Tab.
Be sure this is unchecked Automatically put people I reply to in my Address Book

But they don't normally appear there if you are not opening the emails and clicking reply. So I am unclear how yours are showing up in an address book?

But when I place a check mark and try to "insert checked contacts" I go to this address on a blank page: http://us.mc1612.mail.yahoo.com/mc/kioskHandler

A:Solved: Yahoo email unable to insert address from address book

Concerning my post above: I turned on my older XP computer and I had no problem with inserting an address from the Yahoo! address book.

I compared all my settings in both computers and noticed that I had different settings relating to how pop-ups are handled. XP reminded me that the address book takes the form of a pop-up. On my Vista I had pop-ups opening up (?) in a webpage. That is the page which came up blank. After I have corrected the settings, I no longer have a problem.

The only thing I can find wrong that I don't know how to fix or what is causing it is the fact that the physical address of the card comes up as the broadcast address (FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF). The problem was found when I was using the TuneUp DiskCleaner to scan the hard drive labled F (the "File" drive). The scanning was stopped when it reached a folder (a folder that contains html pages that someone sent to me and I saved there), and a error message popped up saying "Access violation at address 019C44F3. Read of address 83C70A78."

I repeated the scanning and the exactly same thing happened -- even the error address reported was the same.

I tried to delete the folder from the explorer window. But everytime after I press the "delete" button, the explorer just breaks down, while that folder remains there the next time I open the explorer. The same thing happens in when I tried to delete it in the safe mode.

Strangely, I was able to rename the folder. It just can't be deleted.

Since everytime the same error address was reported, I assumed there could be some defect with the hard drive. So I launched a thorough scan of the F drive using TuneUp Disk Doctor, which reached the deepest level by checking every 512 bytes sector. The scan took about 20 minutes, but nothing wrong was found.

Can any one help me figure out what's wrong? Thanks.

Hi there and welcome to TSF.
First, check the permissions on the folder. Right click on it then select properties. Make sure the folder isn't "read-only". If you still can't delete it, try using the utility MoveonBoot. You can download it from this site.. This allows you to mark the folder for removal next time you reboot.

When I create a new message I begin typing the name of the recipient and I would like it to match up with an address I have in my Outlook contact list. However, it does not read from there. It only seems to look at addresses that I have already sent to in the past. How can I get it to read from the address book? If I click on "TO" or "CC" it brings up another window with a list of addresses from my contact list. From there I can have it pull from the list. I would like to be able to do it withot the extra step.

Hey everyone.

I've ran into a problem that I can't quite figure out. My internet connection shows 'no internet access' even though my ISP shows the connection is coming into the house just fine. I usually use a router (NetGear-WNR3500U) but I right now I have the Ethernet connection plugged directly into my PC. I tried directly plugging into my laptop and the internet works just fine. So I know the problem resides in the PC.

Some troubleshooting things I have tried.
-Power cycled my modem, router and PC.
-Repinged my connection from my ISP(Comcast Xfinity)
-Used the reset option on the router and the modem
-I was walked through the internet options needed with the tech support from my ISP to make sure DHCP was enabled and every other setting was correct, and he cleared me that all settings were correct.
-Tried ipconfig commands to /renew and /release my IP
When I tried ipconfig /renew I get the error 'An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server'

-Restored my PC to a restore point where the Internet was working

All of these options did not work.

What I think the problem is and I am not sure how to fix it, when I run the ipconfig /all command my Auto configuration IPv4 Address shows 169.254.112.76 which I was told is a router IP address even though I am plugged directly from the modem to my PC with an Ethernet cord. So I think that's my problem? But I am not sure.

That would be your ISPs' address, the router would probably be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 so, in the properties, advanced button for the ipv4 of your adapter, make sure both settings are on auto, and add the correct router address in the gateway box.

A:typing web address brings me to a diiferent address in explore and mozilla

There are a few reasons for this.

First sometimes the site you are looking to visit isa "front" site and is for the most part fake. It is created to get search engines to list it high on the list of returned results.
When you try to use the search link to go to the site you get redirected to the site the creators/owners actually want you to visit. There are various reasons they may want this, but I will not go into the why for now other than to tell you it usually involves visitor counts and or subscriptions translating into money.

Second this is a common symptom of maleware/spyware.
It is also a redirect to a website they are hoping if you see it enough you will get interested and pay to join.
It may have installed as a legit program without your permission.
This would be why the restore did not work.

There are other reasons, but I will only deal with these first as they are the two most common.

If it is only happening on one site I would just forget about that site as it is a lost cause.
If it is happening on more than one site then I would run a few good spyware scans and at least one good anti-virus scan if not more than one to make sure you "catch" it if that is in fact what is wrong.

If you do not already have them I would reccomend installing

In the past I've maintained my address book using the built-in Address Book utility that came with Windows. Once each year, I would import my Address Book (.WAB) file into Outlook 2003/XP. (I don't use Outlook for email.) Then I would use the Mail Merge feature in Word 2003/XP to make and print address labels on standard Avery label sheets to simplify address of my Christmas cards.

Since I'm now using Windows 7, and the familiar Address Book utility is no longer available, how can I print my address labels? I have both Windows Address Book (.WAB) and Comma-Separated Values (.CSV) files that contain my address book data. So, I guess I need to know two things:
Which program or utility (preferably free) can I use to print my address labels.
How do I import my address data into that program?

If it helps, I am already a user of Gmail and Google Drive. Thanks.

Right now it's set up with a name (not by me) that serves as a catch-all for the ones that are invalid/misspelled/non-existing.

I know it can be done as I get one from one a week at the office when I spell a name wrong from my insurance carriers - but I'm not sure what hosting software their home office has in place.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I have a windows
7 Home Premium (service pck 1) ASUSTeK computer (four GB RAM, Intel R processor) Sixty-Four bit. From the Subject title I'm having BSOD problems and lots of them (started on 29/12/2016 but I hadn't installed new
hardware or software),
I tried troubleshooting it myself for over a week now using many Microsoft
forums but to no avail!

It crashes quite randomly, but mainly after it's been left to go to sleep, or even if it dims the screen to save
battery! I couldn't recreate it in safe mode, tried scans, updating USB stuff from Computer Management, and windows
updates are fine.

It's very important that I use my laptop as I'm a Fourth year at university trying to write
my dissertation!

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

Just curious, but I thought that my WLAN's internal IP address for my computer (192.168....) was not accessible from the internet, only my router's internet IP address could be seen. But if you go to www.whatsmyip.org, and click on their "more info about me" option, it shows my internal WLAN address, as well as my router's internet IP.

So.... is it my Internet Explorer that provides this info to them, or how do they query for this info? I'm just a little concerned for security reasons.

Thanks for any help!

A:internal WLAN IP address VS. external internet IP address

If your computer's IP did not go along as part of the packets that go to an internet site (say, one that requests www.whatsmyip.org to return your info, how would the response get back to you?

It's very similar to wanting somebody to return your phone call or respond to your letter--you need to give them your phone number or mailing address.

We have run across a problem here with APIPA addressing.

After we install Windows updates, Windows assigns an APIPA address in the 169.254.x.x range, instead of getting an address from the DHCP server. The effect is that the computer loses connectivity with the network and the Internet. You can confirm this problem by running an IPCONFIG and checking for an address in the 169.254 range.

Releasing and renewing the address does not correct the problem. Assigning a static IP address resolved the issue. Searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base, we found a registry hack that will disable APIPA addressing on the computer, and this does correct the problem so the computer can connect to the network again.

We assume that the problem is a result of an update from last Tuesday, but we have not determined which update is the problem. We are still looking.

Our concern is that as DHCP leases expire with computers in the field, that this effect may appear. If you get calls for loss of network or Internet connectivity, have the user run IPCONFIG, and if they have an APIPA address, the registry hack is outlined in KB article 244268 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/244268/EN-US/

Anyone else seen this? Have a different solution or know which update causes this problem?

When I installed SP2 on several systems, I had a similar issue. I used this stack reset process to beat it into submission, give it a try.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

On any LAN segment, all hosts (computers) must have the same subnet right?
How come a library has the LAN network configured as follow and still has internet connection?

IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 10.1.12.3
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.1.4.1
As you can see the router IP Address and the computer IP Address are in different subnet.

A:router IP Address and computer IP Address are in different subnet still has internet

I don't believe that it matters which subnet the computer is in as long as it has an active connection and can reach the default gateway although it might have problems reaching other computers. If this is a home router and you are using the default settings then you shouldn't have to worry about subnets.

This has been happening for a few months and I have had to reset the router every time and it usually works. I have 3 laptops, normally 2 are used and a roku streaming player connected to the tv. Both laptops are on windows 7 and sometimes the wifi suddenly stops working [sometimes only stops for some devices] even though i am still connected to the my router. Some times, a popup comes up that says that windows has detected an ip address conflict, so I think that that is the problem, but when I try to do ip/release, renew, it says that the media is disconnected to wireless network connection 2 even while i can access the internet.

I can't find one. I don't know what to look for is the best reason.

I'm sure there's a simple answer for this, but I can't figure it out.

I gave my mom my old computer (98), set it up for her using a different server. I thought I had erased, deleted any signs of my server, but she still gets some of my mail on her computer. Maybe I'm even using the wrong language trying to describe this problem but any help will really be appreciated. Oh yes, I still get mail, but not all of it. Thank you, Bastet

When I go to any web page of someones site, and on the web
page somewhere it will show a part that allows you to e-mail
them by highlighting that part. Normally if I highlighted that
part, up would pop the "outlook express" window to e-mail
them, with thier e-mail address showing in the "send to" area.
INSTEAD, what now happens is that when I highlight the area,
up pops a microsoft internet explorer window that says the
following: "could not perform this function because the default
mail client is not properly installed". ? I have a Compaq Presario
5000 series, Windows ME, Thanks for your help.
