B570 - no wifi connections available on replacement AR9285 wifi card

Q: B570 - no wifi connections available on replacement AR9285 wifi card

B570 Laptop (Lenovo)Serial Number: WB03xxxxxxxMachine Type Model: 1068AGUWindows 7 Home Premium 64-bitAtheros ar9285 AR5B95 (replacement from third party, sold as new)Physical wifi switch is "on".Adaptor is correctly identified in Device Manager and driver loads okay. Driver shows best driver when update attempted.Adapter appears in Network Connections, but shows the big red X and "Not connected".Wifi network icon appears on system notification area, again with a big red X.Attempted to connect shows "No connections are available" and there is no list of available SSID's. I am sitting less than 6 feet from my Buffalo Air Station and there are multiple devices connected to the wifi on that router. I have restarted the router and checked configuration to make sure it's not totally locked down.Fn-F5 appears to do nothing. Power Management is installed and configured. The wifi light (lower left corner of the case, light farthest to the right) lights briefly during startup (POST?) then never lights up again.I installed this card myself and have checked the hardware multiple times. Wires are connected, card is fully seated in socket.Checked the knowledge base and found this: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Z470-cannot-connect-to-WiFi/ta-p/681711 Did not help. Does anybody have any ideas about this? Any help appreciated. Mark

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Failed to mention: The driver is updated automatically. I also tried rolling it back to version (10/5/2009). Did not resolve. Currently on driver version (11/24/2010).

Hello, this is my first post on this forum, hopefully you guys can help.

My problem arose when the wifi card on my Dell Vostro 1015 began mysteriously dropping connection with my LAN. After I manually re-establish my connection, it would only work for about 2 minutes. This became quite annoying. After attempting to uninstall and re-install the card's driver the computer had the same issue. So I finally broke down and decided to reinstall 7 on my laptop. Upon doing so I lost all connectivity. Device manager registers the device as operational, however when attempting to view nearby wireless networks nothing appears (My router is confirmed working and there are about 4 other LANs around me it should be displaying). At first I figured it was a simple driver issue. I obtained drivers first from the "drivers and utilities" CD included with the laptop, still nothing. I then obtained drivers from the dell support website, which still didn't work. After installing the dell drivers I attempted to manually set up a wireless connection and got nothing but an "unexpected error".

This issues has me quite puzzled. It would appear as if it were a driver or hardware compatibility issue; however this particular driver/wireless network adapter has been working with this system since I purchased it. Maybe this is just a windows 7 bug that arose after some miscellaneous update.

Please help!!!!

(The driver was automatically reinstalled by windows update, but I also have a copy of the driver from HP which I installed afterwards.)

(One thing to note is that the date of the driver from before I uninstalled it, is different than the date of the current driver I have installed, even though before uninstalling I tried to update it and windows said everything was up to date. Sadly I don't remember the version number [of the previous driver] but I know it started with a nine.)

Access Connection problems ( after using it for 15 years successfully )1) On my X250 Win7 Ultimate  my Access Connections will no longer allow new profiles nor work with old ones even if imported for same known SSIDs and network passwords after i had a Wifi card change ( combo bluetooth Wifi card ) . I accidentally deleted from regedit my realtek drivers for my "atheros ar9285 802.11 b/g/n wifi adapter" for my laptop. I am on vacation, and cannot access my recovery disks (which I left at home) for another month or so. Short of buying a new set of recovery disks on the Internet, can anyone send me a disk with these drivers on it so I can access the wifi that is available to me? Unless it is possible to download the drivers to a jumpdrive so I can than put them on my laptop. Thanks. My laptop is a compaq presario cq56-115dx.

A:atheros ar9285 802.11 b/g/n wifi adapter drivers disk

Realtek and Atheros are two completely separate manufacturer's.

Recovery Discs wipe out your system and take you back to the original factory state, pretty sure that's not what you want to use anyway.

The place to get drivers for your HP/Compaq laptop for free is the HP website: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4308201#N418
Download the drivers either by plugging the laptop in with an Ethernet cable or use another computer and transfer the driver download with a USB drive.

Hi! What kind of wifi card can i replace in my ES1 111? My current one seems to be malfunctioning. I would want a AC wifi card.

A:Acer ES1 111 WiFi card replacement

Hello, and for this, call Acer support for exact parts, as they make them. If you wish to do it manually, make sure the wifi adapter is easily visible and removable. It should look like this:And must be mPCIe, not mSATA. You can replace it as long as they follow the same format, but you carry your own risk.

First, CALM DOWN and look at my profile picture. Calm? Now post your message. If I helped, a Kudos would be great! Marking as solution will help others as well, thank you!

My notebook only finds wifi if it is within a few feet of the router. The router is not the problem--my smartphone does not have a problem with wifi. And my notebook will not pickup wifi in other places with good routers. A tech told me it is probably my wifi card. But would I be picking up wifi at all (even a few feet from the router) if the card were bad? If you think it is more likely the card, then what are some good replacement cards? Would like to get 5g as well as 2.4g if possible. If it is the antenna, what kind of antenna do I get?  Please be as specific as possible. Thank you

Hi, Like the title says... I've been having connectivity problems. I am using Windows 7 Home premium SP1 (x86). I can connect fine and after a (seemingly random) amount of time the connection will drop (at least according to windows). I can also easily reconnect without a problem, but it will not pick back up the connection automatically, which is a problem because I use programs that need to access the internet and Often leave large files to download while I'm sleeping or not home. So If I'm not sitting at my computer to manually reconnect, then whatever i'm trying to accomplish doesn't get done.

I'm using the ALFA AWUS036H USB wifi adapter. I had previously been running windows XP and this same thing would happen (though, much less often) but when it happened in XP it would automatically reconnect in a few seconds. I downloaded the drivers from ALFA's website incase the ones on disk were not up to date, and I tried both of them (they have a "normal" and "power control driver" option) and the problem remains. Also, I've never used an external wifi adapter before so I'm not sure if its supposed to work this way, but there are 2 "signal strength meters" in the system tray the standard windows one that you can click on and see available networks or go to windows "network and sharing center" and then there is the ALFA one that you can click on and it takes you to the ALFA wireless LAN utility, where you can also get a list of available ... Ok, I'm not getting this, and I've been around computers for some time.

I've had my B570 for a bit over a year now. Worked great on home wireless network ( Brighthouse networks in Florida, with Ubee Wireless modem running Lightning or 40mb.)

Had to move to new place offering a house offering of wifi, had a bear getting that up, but finally did.

I've since moved to another apartment, and I have Bright house here too, but I'm using a different modem now, and a fraction of the speed.

Here's the q, and I've seen this on an HP laptop running Vista, but that one died and I got this one.

Go to Starbucks, Panera's, Dennys or just about any other public place, and I can see the routers and even connect, but can't get anywhere on the internet. I get either a limited or no internet, or identifying, but that's it. I know that their router is working because i can make the wifi connection on my phone and browse no problem, and I see other patrons with different computers logged in at the same time.

McDonalds, I can get in, and soon as the network connection comes up, browser will pop up and allow me to accept McD's access rights page and I can connect. I know that Denny's has one too, but it doesnt pop up, and ( I know that this will sometimes happen too ) if I try to connect to a website, sometimes the local accept page will pop up, but usually not for me.

I purchased a used laptop, HP G42, and the wifi was working fine, however in the last day or so, it stopped connecting to the internet. I have decided that the adapter died and needed to be replaced. In my naivity, I "assumed" (maybe a bad idea) that I could just throw another one in from my spare box of parts. NO? Really? I get a message that the wifi adapter isn't supported by the bios? Am I to believe that this is a "proprietary" wifi lan card? I'm hoping not, but am not feeling the HP love here.

My fiancee and I currently have the Dell Inspiron 17R SE laptop with the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230, and it has worked for a few months now up until the Monday of last week. While on the internet, my fiancee was noticing her wifi speed slowed down to a crawl. She performed speed tests to find out that the speed was not as high as it used to be. She updated drivers for the computer, as well as removed any clutter that would cause the wifi slowdown.
When we tried many options, they did not give us the results that we were looking for. Finally, after some process of elimination, we concluded that our wifi card needed a replacement. I don't want to get any old card to use and then find out that it doesn't fit or is not compatible with Windows 10. I have been taking my time to research what could be compatible to improve my laptop computer, but I have been coming up short.

What I would like to know is what wifi cards are compatible with our Dell computer so that we can get this replaced as soon as possible without having to pay out the nose for unneeded computer repair?

Just picked up an Inspiron 5576 gaming laptop a week ago. Was pulling my hair out thinking I had a router problem as I was getting great speed over a wired Ethernet line but terrible slowdowns over wifi. I tried rolling back/updating drivers, tried resetting the router, changing channels, etc. Our other devices were running normally, just the new laptop couldn't get over 3-4 mb/s download while everything else was testing at 45+ on a 50/50 network.

Anyway, found a cheap USB wifi dongle to test. Now it works normally, so it makes me think the actual card in the laptop is either bad or really poor reception. The upload speeds are normal, so maybe it's an antenna issue? Either way, since wifi cards are cheap, I was just going to replace it rather than send it in for service.
I've never replaced a wifi card... what's the best replacement that will fit my specific model? I think the current card is Qualcomm QCA9377.

Also, while I had the back panel open, I noticed I have an extra bay for a HDD. Will any 2.5 inch laptop drive work with this computer? Mine came with a 250gb SSD, would like a 2nd 500 gb drive for photo storage.

A:Brand new Inspiron 5576 w/wifi issues- replacement card?

My working theory is the factory installed a driver which was flawed but does not get replaced using the normal update process for drivers.
I would suggest before you look for a new wireless card that you open Programs and Features  and delete any Killer Wireless utilities listed there.  Then go into Device Manager and uninstall the device and check the box to uninstall all drivers.
It may be best to do this off line so have the new driver ready to install and then go offline while completing this process.
I installed the 1535 on one of my systems just to test.  I liked it so much I left it on that system.  Hopefully, the procedure above will help.

Hi all,My T460p came with a 8260NGW, FRU 00JT530, and it is a vPro part.I had it replaced with a 9260NGW, but while the card worked fine, the AMT menu (and prompt for the configuration shortcut at boot menu) disappeared.I did a bit more research and found there are actually two different FRU's, one is vPRO (01AX771) the other isn't (01AX769 ).The first 9260 was indeed a non vPRO part and as such I replaced it with my 8260 (after my motherboard was replaced) while I ordered a vPRO part (01AX771). AMT was back in the bios menu with the 8260 (note: also new motherboard), but as soon as I replaced it with the 01AX771 part (vPRO) it is gone again.Anybody cares to explain or advise on the topic? Thanks!

I have recently bought a new pci wifi lan card (Ralink rt61 turbo) and have plugged in and installed drivers. Initially the drivers the company I bought it from told me to install didn't work, but after some googling found the correct drivers and downloaded from Ralinks website. However these didn't work either.

When using the Ralink wireless utility it says that the card is disconnected, however in device manage it is both connect and the correct drivers installed and everything is perfectly fine.

I ignored the wireless utility and hoped that windows 7 would still be able to use the wireless card as past experiences have shown to be true. This case however I get nothing. Windows 7 says that the wireless card is experiencing problems, it doesn't show any of the routers that should be shown.

I have been looking around a lot and there have been several drivers that should have worked and they haven't.

I would have thought that the antenna is broken or the card doesn't work however when I use it with ubuntu instead of windows 7 it works perfectly fine without any hassle, so the card is definitely working.

Any advice that anyone can give on how to resolve this would be very welcome.

My computer is running off of a wired router, so that i can play online on my PS3 as well. I was told wifi doesn't work well with Ps3's normally so i just bought a wired router. So, the mainline internet cord is plugged into a wired router and then another line runs into my computer.

For some reason, after i make an adhoc connection, the computer is not sending the required information to the iPod so that it connects to the internet.

I've tried entering in the information into the Static tab in my ipod as well, and still only get Local Connection instead of Local and Internet.

This is what my connection looks like through the router using ipconfig /all:

A:Creating Wifi hotspot with built-in computer wifi card.

Hi Cromsy,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

Unfortunately, it isn't as simple as that. You are connected to the router fine with your computer, but that tells us nothing about the ipod because wireless is off (but that's not the whole story either - you need something extra to do what you want). The following article should tell you what you need and how to do it: How to Connect iPod Touch to Windows 7 Ad-hoc Wireless Network. Although it says Windows 7, there are procedures for Vista as well (and the software will work with Vista).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

I'm having a problem that's been on and off with my.wifi for a while. I have a Yoga 2 Pro and the WiFi card seems to disappear completely and I can't get it back without removing all the batteries and leaving it a while. It's not like it needs a driver update, it totally disappears as if it's not even installed and won't show up in any OS or even under the "rfkill list command". It appears to be completely failing. Thing is I've swapped it out and it seems to be some part of the operation that mounts it that isn't working. I notice that it installs into the power board and not the motherboard. Would swapping this fix it? Does anyone have any ideas?

This is my first time posting so i hope its in the right place. Here it goes:

I have just replaced my WiFi card from (BCM943228HMB) to BCM94352HMB. Before replacing my WiFi card i done the following:

1. Made computer boot in safe mode with networking.

After that i replaced the card, then booted into windows 10 (safe mode with networking) and checked device manager. Everything was OK (See attached picture). I then tried to turn on WiFi, but it does not turn on. Any help is appreciated.

Hahaahahaha don't look at the other tab

A:WiFi not working after replacing WiFi card [BCM94352HMB]

Why are you booting into safe mode? I would connect a network cable to the wired network port, if possible for you. In regular windows, not safe mode, right click on the 802.11ac network controller and uninstall. Right click on the top device manager entry for the computer itself and select scan for new hardware.

recently i was having major computer issues on my desktop, i did a full restore to factory settings and after doing a few windows updates i found that my network adaptor was not finding any signals. it does not show up in the change adaptor settings page or in the device manager page. when i troubleshoot my internet connection it says an ethernet cable is not properly plugged in. I have a desktop computer but it definately has a wireless network card. i used to get windows updates for it and it just stopped working one day. when i look in the BIOS the only option related to booting a network card is B03 D00 Yukon PXE. no matter when i boot it i still dont get wireless signals. when i go into the boot menu and try to boot this device it says " PXE E61: media test failure please check cable" i have opened the tower and the card is securely in its slot. i thought i would workaround by getting a usb wifi card. I installed it and connected to the internet and it alternated between having a connection to the internet and being connected to the network but not the internet. even when it is connected to the internet i cannot reach any web pages. my dropbox desktop files update very slowly (7kb/s). when i am connected with the usb card the network stops working for everyone else in the house. they can no longer reach web pages or continue downloads. please help.

A brief description what I was doing to get into this situation.

I've a Dell Studio 1555 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, it's installed with a Dell Wireless mini card 1397 which I've been trying to change to an Intel 533AN_HMW ( type N ) which I was unable to get it to work.
Swopping between the 2 cards wasn't a problem until I removed all the wireless applications, Dell & Broadcom, whilst trying to get the new card working, thinking it shouldn't be a problem because I had all the original drivers.
Now after changing back to the original Dell card I now cannot get that to work, win7 has identified the card & installed 'Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN mini-card' driver, but there are no wireless connections visible.
I can connect via wifi to my router with my smartphone so I know that is working.
I'm not sure if the WLAN is switched on, normally done using the 'F2' function key.
I've tried downloading new drivers from Dell with no change in the state.
Tried a system restore but this fails suggesting problems with the AV - turning this off doesn't have any effect.
IPCONFIG /all doesn't show the adaptor.

Any further help greatly appreciated. Thanks Mick

A:WiFi - No Connections

You need to go to dell website and download driver for your adapter and possibly broadcom.
The dell site lets you enter your system details to search for drivers.

Download drivers from other computer if you can and transfer to the dell.

Hope this works,

My WIFI Connections are no longer showing up on my laptop. I tried to reboot the computer, but that didn't help. When I go to my device manager there is a red triangle next to network adapter and it says that it "was not able to load properly"My laptop is 4 months old, and worked fine up till this morning.I notice that there are several other users on this board from today that state that the WIFI is also gone on there HP... Whats the deal? I'd also like to add that it has nothing to do with my router as I am connected to another laptop at the moment. All my other devices read the wifi signal, just not the hp 17-p161dx

Look at these pictures. You can clearly see that my Wifi is on, on my laptop but it does not pick anything up. All my phones, tablets and desktop PC pick up both WiFi and cable connection to the router. Why the hell is this happening? No matter what I do, (including a format), I have no internet connection on this laptop. It does turn on after I do a fresh install of the drivers but then reverts to this rubbish.

Please someone help. This is driving me crazy. What have Microsoft done? It worked before I updated.

Hey Guys & Girls,

I bought a new Asus desktop computer with Windows 8. When I click on the network icon in the system tray, the panel on the right side of the screen slides out to reveal network connections. It reads:

Wi-Fi 2
PHHOME24 Connected

In PHHOME24 the 24 stands for 2.4 which is my 2.4 ghz connection. There is also a 5 ghz connection that my laptops on the network are connected to (PHHOME5) which does not show up under Network. The 2.4 is the only connection that shows up. On my laptops on the network I see 7 or 8 of the neighbor's networks but they don't show up on the Windows 8 Desktop. And yes, the wireless card is an N which supports 5 ghz.

So, the questions is: Why can't I see all available connections and what can I do to see them? I want to connect to the 5 ghz connection.

I am having trouble trying to connect to WiFi internet access. I just started a new job 2 weeks ago and was given a Lenovo Ultrabook Thinkpad. We I first tried to connect to the WiFi at my coworker's home, it would not connect. We contacted Geek Squad and was told that we need to reboot the router. We did and nothing. After another call with them, we ended up disenabling the WiFi, reboot the laptop and then re-enabled the WiFi. That worked. I took the laptop home and had no issues connecting to my home laptop. I went to the office and was not able to connect. Called Geek Squad again and was told to reboot the router. We said that was not an option when we were in a building with about 100 other computers working with no issue. We ended up talking to someone new and they talked us through some fix, maybe the same one mentioned about, but not sure since I was not the one doing it. We were told it might be a bad WiFi card. I took the laptop to Best Buy Geek Squad, the very uninterested clerk turned on the laptop and it connected to their WiFi right away. So he said it was not the WiFi card or the computer. He said it must be the routers. I then took the laptop to a Starbucks and was not able to connect to their WiFi. Now I can't go and ask them to reboot their router. So it's got to be something wrong with the computer or the WiFi card correct? Any help?

Hi: Most HP consumer notebooks do not come with dual band wireless network adapters. The easiest way to check if your notebook has a single band or dual band wireless N card is this: Go to the device manager and click to expand the Network Adapters device category. There you will see the names and model numbers of the ethernet and wireless adapters. If the suffix of the model of your notebook's wireless network adapter ends in b/g/n, it is only a single band (2.4 Ghz) card. If it ends in a/b/g/n or a/g/n, then it is a dual band (2.4/5.0 HGz) wireless card.
