I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,I am interested in purchasing a Lenovo Legion Y540 gaming laptop (the 15-inch version). After configuring it I noticed that the keyboard is in German. Is there a way to change that? I currently live in Germany, so I guess that's why I am offered the german version, but I am much more comfortable with an English keyboard. Thank you for your help!

Earlier this week I stood up while holding my Y540.  The power brick, which is quite heavy, fell off the desk and ripped the power cord out of the DC-IN power jack.  The plastic clips that hold the power cord in place were destroyed, and now I can't get a stable power connection anymore. I'd like to replace the DC-IN power jack on the motherboard.  The problem is I can't seem to find the part anywhere.  Lenovo won't sell it to me (it's an FRU only part) and I can't find anywhere online that sells an 81Q4 power jack. Does anyone know if there are other compatible DC power jacks I could use for my Y540?  I'm quite comfortable replacing parts on a system board, I only need to find the appropriate part.   Thanks for any help you can provide.

My Windows 7 64 bit desktop is several years old. The other day, without warning, both my CD drives stopped working. I discovered the error above (in title). First, I simply attempted to have Windows update the drivers (both from the PC and from the Web).
The response I received was that the drivers were up to date. Next, I did a system restore to a point when I knew the CD drives were working - no help. I next attempted to repair Windows from the install CD using a portable CD drive. When I plugged it into
the USB port(s) I got the same error message. I also did an uninstall and let the system search and reinstall - no help. I've been searching for the correct drivers but, so far have been unsuccessful. The drive description is "Optiarc DVD RW AD-7280S
ATA Device". Type = DVD/CD-ROM drives; Manufacturer = Standard CD-ROM drives; Location 1 (Channel 1, Target 1, Lun0). Driver provider - Microsoft; Driver Date - 6/21/2006; Driver version - 6.1.7601.17514; Digital Signer - Microsoft Windows. File version
- 6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255) The driver location is (of course) C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\cdrom.sys
Any suggestions will be most welcome. Thanks in advance

Hi. Seems we have a small problem with our touchscreen.
The laptop was dropped at one point, the frame and cover were damaged but the touchscreen itself was not hurt. We replaced the damaged parts, but now the 'touch' part is not responsive. In device manager it is listed as "LCD 1440x900", and when we click on the "N-trig DuoSense Digitizer" it comes back as "no devices found". The frame and front screen cover were all we changed, everything else remains original.
For a couple weeks, while we were waiting for the parts to come in the mail, we used the computer with the screen propped up inside the old cover, (stupid, yes, but it's our only computer). During this time "N-trig" came on a lot, because the mouse would move erratically by itself.
We can't seem to locate the device or drivers. Any help you can give us will be much appreciated.

Here is what happened....
1st thing my desktop PC was not starting up - so I removed the hard drive - put it in a hard drive enclosure to remove all my files and documents - was easy enough to do with no problem
Then I installed Windows XP, but now a few things are not working properly.

1..Monitor Display -color depth and resolution.
I have tried adjusting it - but I cant even adjust the color quality from 4 bit to 16 or 32 bit, also the monitor type is not even displayed.
2..Ethernet not working,
driver device problem me thinks. So I cant even connect to the internet - to get some online device driver downloads.

I downloaded a driver installer, put it on a flash drive, then tried to install it - but this popped up.......
NET Framework 2.0 (x86) could not be found

Here is my question.
Can I connect the desktop computer to the internet through my laptop????

Big head ace, but probably a quick solution, apart from buying a new pc...lol

A:Missing PCI Device Driver

Hi: Please post the hardware ID for the PCI device that needs the driver. To find the hardware ID, go to the device manager and click on the PCI device needing the driver. Then click on the Details tab at the top of the PCI device window. Now you will see a Property drop down list and it will be set to Device Description. Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

Hello all,

I understand this topic has been brought up before. I assure you I have reviewed all past threads on this topic to no avail.

I have an Alienware M15x that I used to use a few years back. It was running 64 bit Windows 7. Recently, I decided to upgrade to Windows 8 on it, only to run into a plethora of problems. I'd like to put Windows 7 back on it, but unfortunately the CD/DVD drive gave out on this guy a while back.

I have made a bootable flash drive and can get to the setup screen, but when everything loads and I choose to proceed in English, I am greeted with the error message "CD/DVD device driver is missing...etc". I have made sure that the device drivers are all up to date.

I have read elsewhere that you can simply click "cancel" at the setup menu when asked for the drivers, and then remove and re-insert the bootable flash drive, and then click "Install Now". Problem is, I don't even have that button.. My only options are to "browse" and "rescan."

I had also read that I should change my HD to to AHCI. It was already set to AHCI when I got the the BIOS menu, so that didn't work either.

I have ran into a few posts by people on other forums with my EXACT problem basically, but so far have been able to find no workaround for this. I am not amazingly tech-savvy but I know how to get around hardware... But Laptop hardware layouts scare me and I am quite afraid I'll bust something if I try to... Read more

So, my father-in-law gave my son one of his old laptops, but the DVD driver was corrupt or something. I don't remember exactly what that error message was, because I figured I'd just uninstall the driver and reinstall it and that would be that. After all, how hard could it be to find a driver and install it, right? Apparently, it's impossible for the computerly uninclined...
Anyway, I'm looking for the driver for HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT32N ATA Device. And, of course, since I uninstalled the driver, I get this error message; Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39).

Hello together=),

I get a failure message on my Qosmio X70 B 10V in the hardware manager for Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit. But I think all my hardware is now right installed. Perhaps somebody can help with these failure.

The hardware packages for the ati graphics R9 M265X on your support website is for the HD8800M.
I think you have to change these drivers. In my case it helps to uninstall the drivers for the graphics device and after installing all the updates of windows the system install the right driver for these device independently, but the error message still occures in hardware manager.

Please see the attached screenshot.

Another error message I get if I want to install the driver of the BlueRay Drive. The error message: Missing Player... . Installation aborted occurs if I want to install the recommended driver of your website. But I think the system installed the right driver, because there isn't any error message anymore.

Thanks for help.

"A Require CD/DVD Device Driver is missing . If you have a driver floppy disc, CD, DVD, or USB please insert it now. Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you may safely remove it now."

I trying to install a fresh copy of Windows 7 x64 SP1 onto my Dell XPS 13-321X Laptop with an SSD drive, and after i insert my CD media into my External CD drive connected via USB (since the system has no internal CD Drive), I get this after clicking the "Install Windows" button. I have researched the topic fairly and i have found no working solutions to this issue. Here are the methods I have tried already:

1. After researching the error, multiple sites recommended i download the Serial ATA drivers from Dell and browse towards it using the driver finder when the error pops up. No Success.
2. Switching BIOS settings to support CSM, disabling secure boot, boot priority, etc where applicable. No Success.
3. I attempted installing from a different source of media aside from a CD and a different External CD drive. No Success.
4. Updating BIOS. No Success.

Is this something that can be fixed or worked around?

A:Lenovo G500s Bluetooth Peripheral Device Drivers missing

hi Jens,
Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Regarding your concerns:
1. From this link  that hardware ID is pointing to a Bluetooth Hands-free Audio Gateway by Broadcom.
Since you already installed the Bluetooth driver, can you try one of the following:
a. Navigate to the C:\Drivers\Bluetooth\Broadcom and run the setup.exe file to re-install the Broadcom Bluetooth Driver
b. Follow this guide on how to manually install the BTHENUM device driver (point the driver to the  C:\Drivers\Bluetooth\Broadcom folder).
c. Install the WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software
2. If you have a bluetooth headset / speaker that was previously connected before, it's possible that these devices are automatically pairing themselves to the machine everytime you restart. Try to check if installing the Bluetooth driver in problem #1 resolves the issue.

A:A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing.

I'm not sure.

If it's the same as Windows 7, the most likely cause for that is corrupt installation media. As you're using a USB installer, the problem may be with the .iso itself.

If you can check the hash code on the .iso. that'd be the surest way to verify it.

Alright, about a month ago, my Windows 7 Starter went dead on my Toshiba NB250 netbook. At first I thought it was a HDD issue. I tried using downloaded 7 recovery tools to no avail, and for some reason, whatever took out the OS, took the factory installed recovery partition with it..

After a few days, I was sick of waiting for the recovery media to arrive, so I tried Installing Ubuntu Netbook 10.10. It worked, so I assume the HDD is fine.

The recovery media is on dvds, so it's useless to me (for some reason my BIOS doesn't support a boot from an external dvd drive).

I got an iso of windows 7 starter. I've seen a ton of threads and responses where people say that the iso may be corrupted due to a bad download. Mine's fine, because it installs and runs in VirtualBox no problem.

I used the microsoft USB startup creation tool through my virtualbox installation. Thing is, whenever I try an install, I get a message saying there is a missing cd/dvd device driver. The thing has no cd/dvd drive, so I don't know what that's about.

I tried copying the iso contents onto another piece of media, and did not make that bootable. I tried an install from my bootable usb, and then plugged in the usb of files. Nothing.

I found this download on cnet, because I read about some guy who was messing around with his drivers to get an install to work. The cnet download was apparently only for vista, and when I put on my non-bootable media, and tried to install it when Windows asked ... Read more

If error repeats download another Starter ISO or check HASH on existing to make sure it's complete.

If the Recov disk is an ISO you can also try writing it to USB using UltraISO.

Hi there guys, im trying to install windows 7 on my friends Dell XPS 625, but I get this error message when I try and install it: a required cd dvd drive device driver is missing.

I have read that its some kind of AHCI problem and that downloading this: AHCI for Windows 7 (AMD RAID/SATA Drivers) and loading it on a USB stick whilst getting the error message will fix my problem?

Also do I have to extract the file in windows first before I put it on the USB? Because I have tried it on a USB and it didnt recognise it

Also the HD has been wiped clean with killdisk so he dosent have an OS right now.

Any help will be great, thanks!

A:A required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing

Yes, you have to extract the drivers and copy them to the USB stick. Once you've done that, start the Windows install and then insert the USB stick. When prompted for AHCI/RAID drivers, press the appropriate function key and browse to the flash drive.
