Lenovo Yoga 3 11" Screen Cracked - But Working - P...

Q: Lenovo Yoga 3 11" Screen Cracked - But Working - P...

So I now have a nasty cracky on the glass of my screen - top right and accross the middle. The screen is still fully working, and touch screen also still works. So what are my options... 1) Can I just replace the glass? If so, where do I find this product - No one sells it.2) Do I need to replace the entire screen (LCD and Digitizer) - Again no one sells it. Apparently it's a licensed product and no 3rd party suppliers have access to stock. Can anyone please help, and share any other options I have? Thank you so much in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I cracked my screen and replaced with a new one.   Now when I close the lid, it won't go to sleep; rather it goes to tablet mode.   I have to press the power button to make it go to sleep.   I put back the original screen and it goes to sleep as it should.   I've tried two different brand new screens and it will never go to sleep when closed.    Lenovo doesn't sell replacement screens so I'm forced to go to ebay or Amazon.   I have checked setting to make sure it goes to sleep when the lid closes.   The magnets are in the replacements.  Hmm, has anyone ever experienced this?  Any recommendations what to do?   Thank you for your input.

The screen is on but only the mouse arrow is visable, can anybody assist?

A:Lenovo yoga 2 screen not working

hi Gharri

Welcome to the Forums.

When you said  "the screen is on but only the mouse arrow is visable", do you mean the Touchscreen is not working?

If the touchscreen is not working, try the following steps:
1. Open system properties to determine if the OS is detecting the touch capability.
   - Link to picture (Touchscreen not working, proceed to Step 3)
   - Link to picture (Touchscreen is detected, proceed to Step 2)

2. Press the Windows key? +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. On the device manager, click view > show hidden devices and under Human Interface Devices section, uninstall the HID-compliant device touch screen (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen). When finished, reboot the system and observe.
    - Sample image

3. Turn off the machine and press the OneKey Recovery button and select System Recovery. On the menu, try to touch an item but don't proceed in doing the system recovery -- this is to check if the digitizer (the hardware part that enables touchscreen functionality) is working.

If the Touchscreen is working, boot back into Windows and backup important files then prooceed with the System Recovery.

If the Touchscreen is still not working even in the System Recovery menu then it's likely that the digitizer is faulty and you will need to contact le... Read more

Hi Guys! Please go through my complete message as it is very 'painful' experience you can ever come across when buying a laptop. The Lenovo Yoga is not available in Australia. So, I bought the Lenovo Yoga 13" orange i5 128GB from 'adorama.com' for US $999 + UPS shipping $105. Unfortunately the shippment attracted a custom of 185 AUD which I had to pay later. In total, I have already spent 1400 AUD.The UPS courier service delivered the shipment to my address an hour back i.e. today on 5th July,2013. I was very happy to receive the product but when I switched on the laptop, the screen is not working properly and is displaying a number of vertical colored lines. To confirm that it is the screen problem, I connected the laptop to my TV with a HDMI cable upon which I could see the windows display on the TV. This clearly establishes the fact that the laptop's screen is faulty. Next, when I checked the warranty number online it shows that warranty starts from three months earlier than my purchase date which clearly shows that someone registered the laptop before. Also, the charger I received with the laptop looks to be a used one with scratches and marks on it. I am afraid, the product I got from Adorama is damaged and maybe a refurbished one as the charger clearly looks to be used before. I am deeply disappointed with this incident as I was very excited to use that product and also importantly had lots of work to do with it.I contacted Adorama, and they are s... Read more

A:Lenovo Yoga 13 Screen is not working

I have exactly the same problem just a set of vertical lines on the screen. Never before have I had such a pathetic problem except maybe with laptops that are 6 years old. For further details I have the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13-inch Convertible Ultrabook (Orange) - (Intel Core i7 3537U 2.0GHz Processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Integrated Graphics, Windows 8) bought from amazon.co.uk ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00CA10NUE ). The screen lasted 6 days before dying. Just enough time for me to waste getting it perfectly set up before it died. There was nothing to indicate prior to the screen failing that it was going to fail. Turned it off one night and turned it on the next morning and the screen was only displaying the vertical bars. I'm going to try sending the Laptop back to Lenovo. I actually managed to get through to the Lenovo support - they have quite a good system of dropping the laptop off in a local shop that is then picked up by Lenovo, they reckon to have a turn around of 10 calendar days. I can recommend trying to call the Belgium helpdesk as Lenovo can never outsource the help desk people since they need to speak French and Dutch but usually they will also speak English - start the conversation with "Parlez vous anglais?" / "Spreek je engels?" . Admittedly it will be no use if you need to return the item, but if you just need a bit of technical support it might be a good way to go.

Hi. Touch screen on my device is working from time to time. Mostly not working at all. It stops working after suspend/reboot. I can't understand what makes it work again. Sometimes you suspend/reboot again and it starts working, sometimes its not. The reason of this is I2C HID Device with status "This device cannot start. (Code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed." which is shown in Device Manager. When it doesn't have yellow warning icon - touch is working. What I tried: Windows Troubleshooter. It reinstalls driver. Doesn't help.Remove driver in Device Manager. Doesn't help. It restores automatically.Disable/Enable device. No luck.Install latest Lenovo updates (including BIOS, V.2JCN36WW) via Lenovo Companion. No luck.Install Windows updates. No luck. BTW, Creators update installed.Suspend/Restart. Helps in very rare cases around 1 of 10.

I have a Yoga 11s Laptop (ideapad) with windows 8.1, bought it 3 years ago, and the touch screen hasn't workedfor about two week. I've installed touchpad drivers, and refreshed the computer. Installing the drivers did nothing, and the touch screen worked after the refresh until I flipped the screen to use it in stand mode.  Thoughts? Will a factory reset make a difference?  I really need the touch screen for the work I do, and I can't send it out for repairs.

I have had my Yoga Pro 3 for four days and the screen cracked.  I did not drop it or damage it, it just happened upon opening.  Customer Service is less than helpful and kept telling me it was my fault. They said they will send a technician out for $169 plus the cost of the screen which they could not give me a price on.  They wanted my credit card number up front.  If I can find a way to return it, I will.I think it is sad that they will not stand behind their product.  I paid over $1600 for this, and for it to crack in four days is unacceptable.I will not be purchasing Lenovo prodcuts in the future.  Unacceptable and uncaring customer service.  It is as if they simply read from a script.

I ordered a Yoga 2 Pro direct from LENOVO very late December - delivered around January 1st.I didn't have the time to unpack and examine for about a week. I unpacked and first turn on the computer around January 7...and over the next few days spent just a brief amount of time setting it up, updating, etc. My time playing with the computer was brief...just 30-45 minutes every other day or so..nothing more than a general look and feel. I was impressed with the look and feel...the build quality and performance. Over the weekend things changed for the worse....I was working with the unit in my living room in the morning....closed the lid...placed in on the coffee table. Later in the afternoon - some 4-5 hours later....I sat down, picked up the Yoga 2 Pro, and in short order noticed a crack extending from top left - just at the end of the LENOVO name - down to the middle of the bottom. The Yoga 2 was treated with white glove delicacy the entire time since it left it's box. I currently have numerous laptops (including 2 LENOVO) and tablets...from APPLE, ACER, LENOVO, AMAZON, etc.I have never experienced anything like it. The ONLY ideas I can come up with fall into two categories: 1 - the design is inherently flawed.      There is noticeable flex in the unit - both the keyboard and screen - yes - it is minimal (I never twisted or stressed it in anyway beyond gentle normal operation.  Perhaps the glass can't handle... A:Yoga 2 Pro Cracked Screen and more....

Hi, I too have had the same problem. I had received my Lenovo Yoga 2 "Pro" today and when I first put it on my lap and opened it, I heard a crack. Oh what a traumatising sound it was. I investigated further and found that I had the same crack as yours. From the Lenovo sign all the way to the middle... I'm pretty sure the Yoga 2 "Pro" isn't so much of a Pro after all. The build quality is something out of a $500 laptop. The ridiculously thin glass and the bendy plastic isn't ideal at all, the Lenovo team clearly did not know how to design a laptop. I mean afterall, this is Lenovo "the king of laptops".  The reason why I am so offensive is because I had an unforgettable experience with my Surface 2 a couple of months ago. On the same day I received it the device crashed. I took it to a separate serviceman because Microsoft couldn't be bothered to have proper worldwide support. The Nvidia Tegra processor was faulty. You know, it always baffles me why Apple is considered the best. It's because it is, come to think of it. I have NEVER heard of a hardware issue out of ANY Apple device. The build quality on Apple devices is so professionally made, so professionally examined that it is completely out of Lenovo's league. No company can compete with Apple on build quality.  Apple are professional unlike Lenovo. Dan

Hello,  Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place. This is my first time.  I just dropped my Yoga 260 and it looks smashed from the lower corner, but the screen still works. The touch doesn't work near where it's cracked, but everything else seems to be functioning normally. There's also a small crack going up the right side of the screen. I called customer service and they said I no longer have a warranty. I need to know a rough estimate before I send it in, but they couldn't give me one. If it's way out of my price range,  I don't wanna waste my time.  Thanks!

After a launch of updates including the BIOS update from Lenovo Vantage, my touch screen stopping working all of a sudden, as the screen does not react to the pen. When going in tablet mode, the mouse cursor does not dissapear and the screen still does not work. It never said this before and I still have Windows Ink available. This is the best laptop that I got for college until this happened, and I am hoping that Lenovo and/or Microsoft comes up with a fix quickly as possible. I really need help with this becuase I just got this laptop and I don't wanna think that $1099 was a waste of money. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hello, This is my first time posting, so please bear with me. A few days ago, the touch screen completely stopped working. I am also unable to rotate the screen. Navigating to the Device Manager, I see three I2C HID Device drivers, but one of them has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it. When I click on it, I see the error: "This device cannot start. (Code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed." Disabling it does nothing, neither does uninstalling it - when they are reenabled or reinstalled, the error persists. There are no drivers that can be updated, and there is no way to roll back to a previous driver as I never updated these due to there being no problems. I assume this is a hardware issue, but I am not sure how to verify this or if there is anything else that can be done.  I have had quite a few problems with this machine, sending it out twice for the same problem and having the same problem occur for the third time (the power button does not work), but I am hoping this is something that is fixable.  Thanks!

I have the YOGA 90013ISK (the original one), I need to replace a cracked screen.  Can I replace it with the new screen from the 920 Vibes (UK name) https://www3.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/yoga/900-series/Yoga-920-Vibes/p/88YG9000860 If so, where can I get one? If not, what do I need to replace the cracked glass?  Do I need to replace the whole unit, or just the glass? Thanks

A:Replacement cracked Yoga 900 screen

The thing you call the glass is the static discharge digitizer.  There is a matrix of VERY fine wires running through it.  It cannot be replaced separately. (bonded with adhesive and connected via a non-reusable connection tape) Lenovo replaces the entire lid unit as an assembly.  You can replace the entire screen assembly as a unit (keeping the lid and hinges) as a unit, but it is difficult to get the camera and microphone moved without breaking anything and it is difficult to get the lid mounted so that it closes flat.  I have never tried, but I think the 920 will not fit.

I'm usually a pretty careful person but in my one rare clumsy moment, I managed to drop my Yoga 900 on the floor from maybe a height of less than a metre.  The screen is cracked starting from the top right hand corner and has a hairline fracture all the way to the bottom left corner. It still works, as in I can still see things on the screen, but I keep getting jumpy cursors and whatnot (expected of a cracked touch-enabled screen). So my question is: What am I suppose to do? I've called Lenovo Support and I've chatted with an Encompass technician, and although they were very nice, it didn't help because there doesn't seem to be a replacement screen available for purchase/repairs. I've only had this laptop for 5 months and it seems ludicrous to buy a new one already...... Edit: This is for the Yoga 900-13ISK.

I love this computer. All things considered, I think it's currently the best of its kind on the market. So it really upset me that it broke after I'd had it for one week. Here's what happened:            The little corner of a smooth, thin, cotton pillow case...for the kind of pillow that goes on a bed...Just the corner...got closed up in the computer when I shut the lid, right down next to the hinge on the right side. It was a flat inch of fabric. I moved to pick up the laptop and just as I did, just as I moved it SLIGHTLY downward then away from where the bespoke pillow sat, I heard a tiny crunching sound. That tiny sound was of three cracks forming in the lower right corner and one long crack extending, diagonally, across the entire screen to the upper left corner. Really, that's all it took! A thin scrap of cotton fabric, and my incredible miracle of modern science is totally unusable! The touch screen now has pressure points all over the place causing it to flip out. I've read of lots of Yoga 2 owners finding inexplicable cracks in the same exact area; they mostly determined that the hinge was too tight putting too much strain on the glass. I think that's probably still the case as the lid is stiff to add stability to it, which does seem necessary. But the glass is also VERY thin. Too thin to have the tensile strength to handle the amount of pressure applied by the movements of the hinge. That is a design flaw, and I'm not sure if there's a ... Read more

The screen of my Yoga 14 ThinkPad Type 20FY touchscreen has cracked. I have a few questions on how to replace the screen.

Serial Number: XXXXXXXX                               Mod edit:  Serial number removed per forum rules
Machine Type Model: 20FY0002US

1. Can I replace the touchscreen with a non-touch screen? It looks like touchscreens are delicate and expensive. I didn't want a touchscreen but Best Buy did not have that in their store.
2. What is the part number for the screen? I need it to purchase online. Online forums suggest opening the screen to see the part number. Is there a way to see part number using model, and machine type (posted above)? I need part number of non-touch screen, if that will work with the laptop.
3. What is the cheapest and reliable place to buy a replacement screen? I plan to replace it myself.

I would be appreciative of your help.

Hi all, so I bought an 1st Gen X1 Yoga (20FR) earlier in the year, and due to an unfortunate accident the screen is now cracked and the touchscreen no longer works. I'm quite upset about it, but a repair from Lenovo would be 580 which is far too much. I'm happy to buy a display separetely and install it myself, my I'm unclear about screen compatibility. My screen is a 14? The part quoted by Lenovo is 00UR192, but would this one work for instance? Many thanks, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm a global traveller, based in Africa, and wanted to share my terrible experience with Lenova Customer service. After a 10 year stint with Apple, I decided to give Lenova a chance, given the improvement in their product line and opted to purchase a Yoga 900 in Taipei during the business trip there last December. I was very happy with the product until last month, when I got  my screen cracked on a flight from Lagos to Nairobi. I thought, this is inconvinient, but I have global warranty so it should be fixed very soon. This is where the saga began. I checked four countries that i know I was visiting over the next few weeks to see if I can get replacement or a fix. In Nigeria --> They do not have a service centre, so only through 3rd party service centres. I register for a repair, after 3 weeks, they called me to tell me they cannot get the part.In Kenya --> same storyIn Turkey -->  would take 3-4 weeks and no guarantee they would be able to source the partIn US --> the usual, would take 3-4 weeks and no guarantee they would be able to source the part. In addition they told me they are not even sure whether they can service my computer, given it was purchased out of US. It is beyond me how a company who claims to be global can fail on customer service and support in such a major way. And I'm not even claiming this service under warrantly - just want a simple screen replacement or being provided with a replacement machine. Yoga se... Read more

The computer was not dropped, hit, banged or anything. There is absolutely NO damage to the computer shell. If you opened another brand new one and place them side by side there'd be no difference. I could not believe a computer 6 could be this fragile. Neither BEST BUY OR LENOVO will cover the repair or replace. I would NEVER had bought this product if I'd known it was this fragile and cheaply made. I am beyond pissed about this waste of money!!

Okay so like the title says I recently cracked my laptop screen and since I don't have any warranty I'm going to do the repair myself. My first question would simply be what parts do I need to buy? Looking at my laptop it appears that only the glass panel that goes over the digitizer is what got messed up. The LCD panel is fine and the touchscreen still works so I believe all I have to do is replace the front bezel? Is that possible or do I need to buy a whole new LCD panel to repair my laptop?  Besides two thin cracks going through the screen, most of what shatted was the top right bezel portion.  Please help me !

The display of my HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j004sa Notebook is cracked from top to bottom. This has resulted in the touch screen ceasing to function... what am I to do? Can I send my laptop off to be mended, or do I have to take it back to John Lewis to get it mended? What is the likely cost of fixing it?

It's not covered under HP warranty for any reason as I found out.  They will repair it for about $250.

Well, it was bound to happen. After 20 plus years in corporate tech support, unpacking, configuring, and shipping laptops all over the world for the first time I cracked a laptop screen. Unfortunately, this laptop screen was attached to my personal HP Envy Touch Smart 15 Notebook PC.

I have always believed that ?stuff happens?. We live by the luck of the draw. When it?s time it is time. You never know. When I picked up my laptop one morning last week on the way to an offsite there was no mistaking that muffled pop of a cracked screen. Stuff happens.

My screen still worked but no longer with touch screen functionality and I immediately jump on the web to determine the cost of and the degree of difficulty to replace the broken screen. In this site and others, I was surprised by the number of Envy owners who?s broken screen story mirrored my own and whose uploaded photos look uncomfortably familiar.

In almost every uploaded image the impact area was nearly identical, roughly 1.5 cm from the top bevel and nearly perfectly in line with the center of the touchpad.

Many generations of the Envy are designed with a Touchpad that sits in a shallow trough. That trough, the width of the Touchpad, extends out and forms a depression along the outer edge of the laptop.  When closed, the top or lid, with the fragile display, is supported by the stiffer bottom ?half? of the laptop. But a depression on the edge of the keyboard half of the la... Read more

I recently cracked my screen.  The crack was interfering with the touch screen so I disabled the touch screen.  I was able to use my laptop like a normal laptop.  Picture quality was fine, no missing pixels.  Everything was fine except for the cracked screen.  I took it to my local computer repair place to get an estimate on replacing the glass.  Now the screen won't work at all.  They said I need a new LCD screen and glass with digitizer to get my computer working again.  The parts alone, cost nearly as much as I paid for the laptop!  I purchased this laptop at Best Buy this past January so it is still a new computer!  It is still under the original warranty for 5 more months.  At this point, I don't know what to do.  Is the LCD screen covered under warranty?  I know the glass is not.  The computer repair place recommended just purchasing a whole new laptop.  What other kinds of options do I have?

I recently did a Windows 10 update to my Lenovo Yoge Ideapad  11 S on July 16th and now my touch screen does not work. When I check the drivers for my monitor and touch screen I noticed the driver was missing. I cannot get Lenovo or Microsoft to fix this. What else can I do to get that driver back ?

A:Lenovo Yoga Idea Pad Yoga 11 S touch screen issue

Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:
https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht503655

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!
