Vacation messaging

Q: Vacation messaging

My Email service provider allows me to send out an automatic email reply to all addresses that send an email to me. They call it vacation messaging.

If I activate this feature wouldn't I be telling all my spammers who send me their adds for rolexes, investment opportunities and pills that they have reached a legitimate address? That would be bad for me. Right?

Is there a way to tell real people that I'll be away for a while with out telling salemen that mine is a good door to knock on?

Preferred Solution: Vacation messaging

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Vacation messaging

I think putting a vacation message is OK to do and this is why I say that:

1.) Spammers would know if your email is a legit e-mail because they will not get a email back stating that the e-mail address can't be found

2.)Also I have found out on my AOL email account if you leave the away message on it gets spammers mad and they take you off of there mailing list.

3.) It lets your friends and family know that you are not around to answer your e-mail, so it will take a while to get a reply.

I use the vacation message 3 times for over two weeks and have not got any spam and i have had the email account for nearly a year.

If I buy a new pc in the vacation should I make a Custom one or buy a Pre-Built (OEM) computer what do you guys think is the best to do ?

A:If I buy a new pc in the vacation what should I buy ?

After my last experience with a name brand computer, I will always go custom from here on out. I had a Compaq PC. The power supply went out and since it was one made for a Compaq, it cost $300 to replace. I just put a bit more with that and got a custom PC. The power supply went out on the Custom and it was about $60 to replace. The parts is a big reason to go Custom.

puke: hello. quite new to forums of any sort. but, having a bit of a prob: about four days ago, my pc has taken to not booting properly. the fans come on, and the LED lights for the cd-rom and CPU light up, but the the LED lights for the CPU stays orange. This is followed by a three-second whining (almost grinding) sound from inside the CPU. After which the LED light just stay orange. I can hear the fan and drive running, but there is nothing. the monitor doesn't even register that the pc has been turned on.

i shut off the pc by pressing in the power button. i waited and tried again. same. so, powered down again and unplugged the pc. when i plugged in the pc just came to life and repeated the same thing (mind you, i haven't switched on yet). ive been all over my tech books and surfing the net for answers to this quandary, but i keep coming up with nothing.

can anyone help?

A:PC has taken a vacation

The only place a grinding noise can come from, is the hard drive. Open up the computer, start it up and pinpoint where the sound is coming from. If it's the HD, try unplugging that and see if the machine boots.

What do you guys do when not using your computer for extended periods of time? Shut Down and turn off modem, leave modem on? Curious about what the best option is?

A:Modem On or Off during vacation

Good question
A computer should be shut down at least once a week. During boot it repairs minor corruption, etc.
Other than that shut it down at night.
If you use it on and off during the day, go to sleep or hibernate.
Not in use for extended periods, shut it all down.

I usually leave my computer on all the time with a DSL connection.
Last month I went on a three week trip and turned everything off before I left.
On returning, no boot. Go to setup and neither of the two hard drives or the CD drive is detected.
I tried putting drives that have worked previously on the end connector of the hard drive connector with no detection.
I know drives can fail, but I'm suspicious that this happened after a shutdown.
Any ideas?

Did you disconnect from the power plug? . . if so, enter bios and reset to defaults to see if the drives come back . . if so, replace the motherboard battery

I'm getting ready to move from frosty Ohio to warm and tropical Myrtle Beach for the summer, and I'm planning on taking my it-was-brand-new-2 months-ago computer with me. Are there any precautions that I should take while the computer is en route so I'm assured that it won't be somehow broke while I'm driving down there? What about while I'm down there, should I worry about the change in climate affecting it? Up here, it's been in a basement where it's pretty much always 60 or so degrees F, so I'm kind of concerned about the sudden change in average temperature maybe ruining it...

(I ask because in a previous move, the computer was loaded up onto a flat-bed trailer with assorted other heavy furniture, and while it didn't seem to be jostled around too much or dropped any, it appeared that it was now DOA, because of being out in the hot sun for the 15 or so minutes it was outside, we assumed.)

A:computer going on vacation

I would pack it into a back seat or trunk instead of the trailer. I doubt the time out in the sun killed your old one. Most likely, something shook loose.

Also, the jostling isn't good for your drives.

If you have problems in Myrtle Beach, send me a PM.. I'm always pretty busy, but I always take time out to help..

Hi everybody ,

I hope this posting finds you all well.

I have this Access 2000 DB (“test_Vacation”) to modify, which I am attaching, and unfortunately was not initially built by me. What this is, a customized Vacation/ Out-of-Office Database. And, basically I need to create Reports for them. Right now, there are couple of Reports; one of which is simply a Crosstab Query, which is still not showing the Data functionally. If someone can jump in and help me out, that’d be great - you will find the Report (“Help”) helpful, for it provides more detailed/ specific Improvements that need to be made on Reports. I provided some general suggestions for you here:

1. You can create a Form: Each employee by Month block – total for EX: May; better yet by Week.

2. By WEEK, I’d like to see: who’s Out/ who’s In (like the Matrix, but need to fix the dates there to Count - “run by day”)

3. The reports there right now are not functioning properly

4. For Matrix Report, you may use a Tbl_CLNDR w/ all working/ Business days (so not to keep recreating them). Right now, where the dates are correlated, it shows Names and all days @ Top, whether OR not the Employees are there OR not - but I need to get a Range, so it would show in month for EX:

a. Only April days, because it would take from the Tbl_CLNDR, and where they correlate with somebody’s date, it would have 1 or 0. After this Form is clean, it would chose a Report, which needs to be able to run a Matrix and just don’t show... Read more

Hi ACMDogfight1997.

Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Last Known Good Configuration. Does it boot?

If not, try SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot. Does it find and recover any corruption?

If still it does not boot, we have very limited things to try, but better you test your RAM modules for possible errors. How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Hi. I went on vacation with the family two weeks ago and tried connecting to the wifi at the place. None of the laptops we had could connect, only mobile devices could. So I turn off my laptop and come back five hours later. I turn it on, take a shower, and come back to it turned off. Nobody had touched it. The problem kept occurring every time I turned it on. I never saw it actually turn off by itself until I got home. It was BSOD with no specific error. Just BCCode 7A every time. It usually happened when my computer was idle (I tested it overnight by leaving the LoL launcher on and it didn't BSOD) but now it also happens when my laptop overheats. I already tried chkdsk /r. I think it might be my memory.

My laptop started BSODing while afk/overheat for no known reason. Didn't change any settings (except msconfig startup programs) or update anything. Tried system restore and it didn't work either.

I guess someone hijacked my hotmail account. Someone turned on my vacation reply and put this in as the reply:

Heya, how are you doing recently ?
I would like to introduce you a very good company which I knew. Their company homepage is www.ele-zone.com . They can offer you all kinds of electronical products which you need, such as motorcycles, laptops, mobile phones, digial cameras, TV LCD,xbox, ps3, gps, MP3/4, etc. Please take some time to have a look at it, there must be something you 'd like to purchase.
Their contact email: [email protected].
MSN: [email protected]
Hope you have a good mood in shopping from their company!
Can someone tell me what to do about this? It happened just over an hour ago. I put out an email to all my contacts to ignore it.

The only other thing that may be pertinent is that this last week I have been getting a Windows alert that there are two names on my network. I am really ignorant about this. if you can tell me where to check and remove this other name.

I live alone, so no one else has access to my computer.

I am going to a home that has turned off their wireless connection for the upcoming season - (now thru April 1) as they don't stay there much. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any way to get them to turn it back on
I'm assuming they have broadband at the home and thats still available - or do they cancel the contract too
and they just disable the router ?

On the router - can you run a cable and still get internet ?

The alternative would be to use mobile network - but you need to
a) Check the coverage for that house/area
b) Make sure the dataplan is reasonable

Your best bet would be to have your friends email you at a web based email address such as Yahoo or Hotmail. Those accounts can be accessed from any computer in the world.

I went through all sorts of troubleshooting to no avail. My computer will not get past post no matter what I do so I could't find my Bios Version. I have changed out graphics cards and ram so I dont think either of them are the problem.

The error/post codes I am getting are CC, C2, C4, and C5. Once it goes through those codes it stops for a minute and goes through all the codes again. It often stays the longest on C4 and C5 if that means anything.

heres a video showing the codes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Product Name: GA-Z170X-Gaming G1 (1.0)

Model: Intel Core i7-6700
Operating System: Win 10 64-bit

I have a belkin 450N router with cable internet service. Overnight, the router stopped working- blinking orange. Direct connect cable modem to PC, and internet is on. Tried the power-cycle, with no luck. Reset router, no luck still. Got a new router- same problem! With the (original) router connected, I ran the ipconfig/all, and this is what it said. Any help is appreciated before my kids decide to kill me for no wi-fi in the house!

I was trying to re-load all my sims games but when I came to load The Sims Vacation it said it had a "Component Transfer Error"

The Sims, Livin Large, House Party, and Hot Date all loaded without a problem.

I've uninstalled and re-installed atleast 5 times now and I still can't get it to work.

The whole error message said:

Component: ExpansionPack4
File Group: ExpansionPack4
File: d:/Setup/data2.cab
Error: data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Please help!

A:The Sims Vacation Installation Problems

Unistall the games...........go to the Sims site and download the SIM ERASER.
And run it,then reinstall the games. You have to have an account with them to do so.
There may be a copy of it on one of your disks.
Put the newst game disk in the 'puter, now go to MY COMPUTER,click the drive that has the SIM disk in. Look at the files to see if The Sims Eraser is there.click it and do what it says.

Hello everyone!

I will be going on vacation in 2 weeks and I plan to take my laptop with me. How can I recieve emails on my laptop instead of getting them at home on my desktop? I have outlook express on both desktop and laptop. I just never set-up the outlook express on my laptop because i just bought this laptop within a 2 weeks ago. I don't think I want to always recieve emails on my laptop because i don't know how often I will check for new mail and I don't know the storage limits of my ISP but if you think its better to always recieve email on both computers, than how do i do that? I have cogeco cable as an ISP and I know I can get my emails via there website (webmail) but i much rather have them come directly to my outlook express on my laptop.

Thank You!!

A:recieving emails on laptop while on vacation

If you want to use your laptop, then set up an account like you did on your desktop. You will not receive the email to your desktop from your ISP unless you open Outlook Express on it. You can receive them on the laptop when you open Outlook Express on it. I would just use the web mail to check temporarily if you want the messages on your desktop, that way you can delete the messages that you don't want to keep. You can also select to leave a copy of your messages on the server if you want the messages on both desktop and laptop.

in outlook express, is there a way to set up an automated reply to incoming e-mail messages while i'm on vacation?

A:automated vacation reply in outlook express

I have established a vacation rule in OE and try to get the kinks out of it so the message will show up in the return email.

The only way for this to work in OE would be to have your PC running and OE open as for the rule to activate it has to download the message.

Your ISP might have a vacation response for email.

Will get back with you when I figure it out.

My little sister wants to install Barbie Mystery Vacation 2 on my computer- but I always get an error. We have windows XP Home edition. Is it possible to install this game or is it just too old? We got the game about 5-7 years ago.

Also- she wants barbie magic hairstyler. We get an error message with that also. Too old?

P.S. We definatly have enough room on our computer. Space is not an issue.

I currently use a Webhost provider where i can access i can create an email account and download/ send my email from Outlook accordingly (Pop3). I can also access web based as well.

What i am looking for is a Vacation message feature to where basically i can log onto the web based account and ad a response message. Then when I "come back" i can turn off the Vacation message and the email that was sent while i was gone can all be downloaded to my computer.

My current provider only offers Autoresponder which is completely different from Vacation message.

Does anyone know of a good company that has the basic features (aliases, autoresponder,) plus this vacation feature i mention?

Hello, I am attempting to create a formula to calculate vacation time earned for employees. We have a column for hire date and today's date, and the vacation calculation should be based on this criteria:

Beginning on the first day following successful completion of the introduction period (6 months), regular employees accrue vacation pay at the rates listed below per pay period. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis, with the most recent pay period being 7/10/09 - 7/23/09.

Length of Service 7 months through 12 months - .3845 days
1 year through 4 years - 0.3845 days
5 years through 9 years - 0.5769 days
10 years through 24 years - .7662 days
25 + years - .96 days

Thank you so much for your help in advance!

I just came back from vacation (Carter Caves) to find that the 130 pics I took are gone from my memory stick. (I have a Sony Cybershot camera...its older and only has 1.3 MP.).

Is there anyway to find them again. (or better yet, to know exactly what happened to prevent it from happening again?)

My theory:
1. The heat of the van we were in.
2. The moisture from the caves.
3. The moving from hot to cold in and out of the caves.

I would love to know a way to recover them if it is possible. (they dont show up on the camera or my ZiO reader at home).

Hey guys,

So I went on vacation for a week and my computer (Desktop built by me) was working perfectly fine. I shut it off before I left and I just returned. I started the computer and it crashed my house network. I unplugged the ethernet cable and fixed the internet. I completely wiped my computer and reinstalled windows on to it. Computer updated but now it is the slowest computer Ive ever seen. It is a Gtx 950 with an i5 8gigs of ram. It ran Black ops 3 at 112 fps so its not a bad computer. Ive done research and read that a virus can happen in the cpu or motherboard. I know tech, but not to much. I would love all the help I can get.

Thank you!

P.S. Built in windows 10 scanners didn't find anything and I also Just created account for this post, sorry if its in the wrong section
Moving the mouse around and opening up folders and playing audio files on the computer is just like normal. Whats very slow is the internet, I downloaded chrome and have always and will always use chrome. I just did a speed test and it is awful. Could hardly get speedtest to run.
