I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I'm having trouble with my wifi card on my t440s.I began by putting the windows 7 x86 hard drive in the laptop from my x220, the wifi didn't work so I uninstalled the old drivers and replaced the drivers with the recommended t440s drivers on this site. The wireless worked, I then installed all the stuff lenovo bridge suggested, the start bar stuff annoyed me so I took it out. From then on no operating system, or drivers I have installed, have been able to find the hardware for the Wifi drivers. The bluetooth is working and I have tried using the bios to make sure the wifi function key isn't broken.I have also tried installing windows 7 x64, which is what im working with now, to try and find the hardware. When I go into network adapters, its literally just not there.

I've been trying to use my T440s away from the dock and each time I do, after a while the Wifi just dies and I need to switch on airplane mode and then switch it back on for it to start again. This is extremely annoying. I have the dualband  Intel AC 7260 running the 16.8.0.6 driver version. Can this really _really_ be happening with a machine that cost as much as an MacBook Pro? I feel cheated on so many levels with this machine. It goes beyond the wifi-problems. The clunky keyboard instead of the Lenovo hallmark keyboard from T420 and worst of all: the missing keys from the touchpad. What were you guys thinking? Anyway, back to the problems at hand. I'd really appreciate some input if you have come across this very same problem and have found a solution for it. Thanks.

A:T440s losing wifi connection

Unfortunately I have this problem too.  The connection simply drops out between 1 and 4 hour intervals.  It is rather annoying as the vpn connection cannot be reestablished for at least 5 minutes after a dropout, and I lose all of my work environment setup which can take another 10 minutes or so to rebuild.   Not sure it is lenovos fault, but they should be working with intel to fix this.

T440s, win 10. Recently, I can't connect to the university's wifi anymore. Sometimes I can connect but it says "No internet", while my friends around were using it. I borrowed a usb wireless adaptor and it worked good, no problem. I can connect to the wifi at home and some other places, but not on campus. I uninstalled the driver but it just reinstalled automatically after reboot. Anyone know how to fix this? I have read someone said it might be because the MAC address is blocked. Is that possible and why? Thanks.

Hello, I've owned my T440s for a few weeks now and it's a great laptop in all respects but one: My WiFi stability is horrendous. I've done a clean install of Windows 8.1 and downloaded all the appropriate drivers from the Lenovo website. The symptoms are as follows: - I will connect to a WiFi access point and begin to work.- At some point during the day the WiFi card will simply just stop sending and receiving traffic. I can open a cmd window and ping my default gateway and all packets are dropped. - While this is happening Windows still shows my WiFi link as CONNECTED. - Putting the laptop into airplane mode and turning it off again seems to fix the issue.- This happens with a NUMBER of wifi access points, so I'm fairly certain it is not the infrastructure My old gateway laptop which this T440s replaced has never had a single issue connecting to, or remaining connected to any of these wifi networks.  I've tried a number of things: - Installing drivers from Lenovo's website (currently up to date as of 12/12/2013)- Installing drivers directly from Intel's website- Letting Windows manage my WiFi- Letting Intel ProSet utility manage my WiFi- Disabling the ability for the system to put the WiFi device to sleep to conserve energy. I'm getting rather frustrated and some searching reveals a handful of people who have the same problem, but not enough that it is some kind of inherent fault in the card.  It's getting to t... Just moved, and my laptop can't stay connected to my new apartment's WiFi. It connects for about two minutes tops before disconnecting like clockwork. I think I've tried all of the general solutions that come up when I google this issue (reset adapter, update drivers, make sure power management isn't turning adapter off) but the problem persists. My laptop doesn't experience problems connecting to any other WiFi. And the WiFi in the apartment works well with my phone and all of my roommates laptops. My laptop is the only device with the issue. The router is a TC8717T and my laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad T440s running Windows 10 with Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 wireless adapter. Any further guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I'm setting up my new thinkpad t440s and I cannot get my trackpoint to work.  It does not respond and in my mouse properties/thinkpad section, the Touchpad is clearly enabled, but the Trackpoint options are all greyed out.  In the pointing options dropdown, I can only see the option to 'Use TouchPad only.'  I strongly prefer the Trackpoint to the Touchpad and would prefer it if possible. I currently have Synaptics pointing device driver version 18.0.7.109, the most recent version.  I've tried rolling back to previous versions and this issue still persists.  I also have gone into BIOS and disabled and re-enabled the Trackpoint in boot settings. Unfortunately, since this is a work machine, I do NOT have the capability to remove the keyboard or replace parts.  Any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everybody, Two and a half years ago I bought a second hand T440s in new condition. The description said the laptop was purchased for a project which discontinued, so they sold them. The seller used a account with the companies name which was already registered for 8 years on that platform. I could'nt find complaints using Google, so it seemed like a good deal.  The laptop is actually still working pretty good, so no problems there. The one things that  is a bit strange, is that the serial number can't be found.  At first it didn't bother me, but currently i'm getting curious again on what might be the cause. When I'm looking up the serial number on the computer, the result I get is R9000000. Possibly this means that the system board has been replaced. Also the back of the laptop doesn't give me any information since the sticker with the number and barcode is missing.I can't figure out what the reason is, clearly it is not the original state. It came to my mind that it could be a fake product, but the build quality and performances are actually too good for a fake one.Can it be harmful for the computer and what might be possible reasons. Is this something that happens more often?

We have had WiFi for about 10 days now, and everything was ok until yesterday. WiFi went down, for some reason. We have 2 desktops PCs connected to router via cables, and 2 smartphones (Google Nexus S running Android 4.0.3 and Nokia N96 running old Symbian, if it matters) that go with without wires. The thing is, when my brother, turns on his PC, WiFi doesn't work for any of us, not on my PC nor on any smartphone, or his PC. When he shuts his PC down, it's all OK again. He did install (automatic) Windows Update.
Why is this all of a sudden happening? And how do we fix it?

Dear Users, Since a few moments I am a (happy) owner of Lenovo?s new and business class model T440s. As I could find out, Lenovo is building in two different displays. On the one hand there are several model with aLG-DisplayModel: LP140WF1 (sp)(k1)P/N: 0C00349FRU: 04X0626 And the other from AUOModel: AUO B140HAN01.2FRU: 04X0436 (You can look up your displaymodel via BIOS, Everest or any related program) As far as I could find out in the world wide web there are several users reporting with a LG Display in their T440s that it is in quality inferior to the AUO Display. It seems that Lenovo is ready to replace the LG with an AUO display, sending out a tech. My question is what your experiences are and what can we, the owner of a  LG-Display, do?Is there a real quality gap between these two types of Display? My T440s, as i mentioned, has a LG Display. I can live with this one, if there are no great difference in the quality to the AUO Display. I am excited about your opinions. Thanks Fire

A:T440s - LG or AUO Display

Don't sweat it. Both are absolutey huge upgrades over the TN panel. While the AUO is a bit better, its not worth the trouble. I have both and I like both. I did a compare on the same thread u heard about the issue.

Make sure drivers are updated and not using a generic VGA driver. This would make the dock not work and not be able to adjust screen brightness. If it is to the point where you can hardly see it at all then it most likely is a bad screen.

Apologies if this question has been previously answered.  I searched and couldn't find a response.   I'm still using the original HDD that came with the laptop.  I'm thinking of upgrading to an SSD and cloning the HDD to the SSD.  My question is what to do, if anything, with the, M.2 16gb cache that came with the laptop.  Should this drive be left alone as is in the laptop after the HDD to SSD upgrade?  Should it be removed?  Should anything be done to the M.2 drive if I upgrade the HDD?  My understanding is it currently speeds up the computer at start-up and with an SSD, this wouldn't be all that necessary.   I appreciate everyone's time.  Thank you.   -Rich

Hello,On my T440S, since BIOS v2.37.1.13 (with little hope that v2.39 would fix it, I installed it to no avail), I can no longer enter hibernation. When I try to do so, the red LED blinks multiple times and then the computer immediately wakes up. The event viewer only shows:The system has returned from a low power state.Wake Source: UnknownThe workaround is to either unplug all usb devices, or disable USB 3.0 support in the BIOS, which sucks for a 1000e + laptop.Otherwise, the computer enters a sleep-hibernate-wake up loop which is draining the battery. When do you plan on releasing an update (BIOS or USB 3.0 driver) to fix this hibernation issue?Thank you.

Have tried using and not using peripherals, and it still happens.

A:T440S hangs all the time

Could be a bad hard drive or RAM (both of which can be tested using Lenovo Solution Center), but I would start by noting the time of the hang, and then rebooting and checking the Windows Application and System event logs upon restart to see if there are any errors reported that stand out.    I once had an issue similar to what you are seeing, and the logs pointed to a hard drive controller error, which in the end was not the controller, but a bad/loose ribbon cable that seemed to act up when the system got hot. Open Windows Event ViewerStart >> Run and type: eventvwr Press Enter Good Luck,

Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out if I have a unique problem, or whether this is a broader T440s problem. Occasionally, especially when my T440s has gone to hibernation from sleep, I cannot turn on the computer unless I plug it into the wall. That is to say, when I hit the power button when the computer is unplugged, NOTHING happens. I've tried holding the power button down, pressing it repeatedly, removing the external battery and then pressing the startup button, etc.  If I plug the computer into the wall, it starts up fine and shows that there is sufficient battery life. This does not happen consistently, and is difficult to repeat. For example, the computer went into sleep the night before traveling. I tried to start it on a plane flight (domestic, thank god, so it wasn't a huge issue, but if it had been international that would have been a disaster) and it simply would not start. Later, on a train, I was able to plug it in and it started with no problems and showed plenty of battery life. I then put it into sleep, it went into hibernate, and I was able to start it up without being plugged into the wall when I returned home. Has anyone else encountered something similar? Are there settings I can change, or should I have it sent in for repair (also, what on earth might cause this problem? Faulty power button?)

A:T440s won't startup on battery

skander wrote:...

This is what happened to my T420.  Just about drove me nuts.  Since it would start in one power mode but not the other that proved that it couldn't be the button, right?  Another mod with more sense suggested replacing the keyboard anyway.

It was the power button.  On careful visual inspection I could see that it was slightly depressed from normal.  Either partly shorted or high resistance.  Plugging in the AC mains must have changed the voltages just enough for it to work.  Sometimes, anyway.

Not saying this weird problem is what you're seeing - but it might be.

Good luck,
Z.
