I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:router not passing port scan after opening port

Have you tried a different port to see if that port is being blocked by your ISP?

I also see that your parsing TCP to UDP, probably doesn't make a difference to the port being open or closed but it might be better to set them both the same or set to Any.

Another problem you may encounter is your IP may change, most ISP's like to change your IP every so often so you may have to set up a DDNS with a hostname in order to access the services you want remotely.

I run a web server from my laptop, and my IP address (location) gets updated via DynDNS.org servers.

My notebook is always behind a NAT-configured LAN, and I have configured the router firewall to pass port 80 service requests to my IP (usually 192.168.x.2, where x is maybe 0 or 1 or whatever...I use NetSetMan for location based setting). Note: the DHCP server is configured to stay away from static addresses in the private LAN.

Most routers have their own port 80 service, the configuration interface, accessible by hosts inside the LAN.

I don't have a problem with port 80 service requests coming from the WAN getting passed to 192.168.x.2 host running the web server.

BUT, users in the 192.168.x subnet requesting service from within the LAN do NOT get delivered the web page from host 192.168.x.2, but instead the router's configuration interface, if they use the host NAME. Of course, if they use the host IP address, they get the content.

What is happening of course is that if anyone uses "http://mywebserverhostname.com/", it goes to DynDNS.org where the IP is resolved to the address a.b.c.d, the WAN IP address of the router I am currently connected to. So the http client bundles the packet to the destination a.b.c.d:80.

The users INSIDE the LAN get the router configuration interface web page when they type in a.b.c.d:80, but not users OUTSIDE the LAN (in that WAN).

What's the solution?

A:Passing Port 80 Service Request Through Router From WAN To LAN

Any chance this is a Belkin router? I had the same problem with my Belkin N450 Gigabit, not being able to use my DynDNS name, only the ip address (192.168.....). The Belkin died a few days ago when our power blipped two or three times in a row (I did not have the router on a battery backed up UPS plug, do now).

I replaced it with a Netgear 450 Gigabit router and the problem is gone. I can now connect using the DynDNS name (and Mooo.com name) again. So, bottom line is, it's probably your router causing the problem.

I went round and round with Belkin on this for over a month and finally just gave up. Made it difficult to test changes to the web server.

I have a P1 GEN2 OLED. While the internet is flooded with complaints of the OLED screen itself, the thunderbolt 3 port of my P1 GEN2 magically stopped working for no reason.  I have been using the laptop with an external display ever since I got the laptop. All went well. Suddenly from yesterday, the external display starts turning into a blue sreen with "NO SIGNAL" shown on it.  I had a windows cumulcative update (KB4532693) and windows security update (KB4524244) yesterday and I suspected that the update might be the culprit. I rolled back the OS. No change. Still NO SIGNAL.  I searched this Forum. Played with Thunderbold 3 menu in the Bios. Everything was enabled and every single option of "security level" was tried. Still NO SIGNAL.  I checked Intel Mangaement Engine software. It is already the latest version. Reinstalled it. Still NO SIGNAL.  I checked Nvidia driver. Latest version already.  In sum, the problem is: the thunderbolt port is still able to power the extenal display but just simply does not pass signal to the external display. HDMI port, however, still passes signal if use an HDMI cable.  I want to give it a shot here to see if anyone has experienced similar issues and how they sovled the problem before I call Lenovo technical support, the staff of which does not seem to know more than some people here on this Forum.

Hello all. I was talking on skype and lost internet connectivity while talking. I received the error above (Firewall Settings HTTP (port 80) HTTPS port 443 FTP port 21 error message). I am running a laptop with windows XP and IE 7 and my antivirus is AVG and I also have Ad-Aware.

I'm not much of a computer person but I did some research online and tried a few things: I turned off the option on skype's advanced settings for it to listen on Port 80 and then rebooted. I also ran a command, 'netstat -aon' and did not find a listing of 1270.0.1:80/443 or 0.0.0.0.80/443 which seems to imply that nothing should be affecting port 80 or 443.

I also downloaded firefox and it cannot access the internet either. The only way I'm able to access the internet at the hotel I'm located at was to call the hotel's tech support and they had me go into the LAN settings of internet options and manually select port 8080.

Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Mike

Open Internet Explorer. Click Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan settings > Proxy server > Advanced. Delete the proxy server settings under HTTP, HTTPS (secure) and FTP (and Socks, if any). Then, under Proxy server, uncheck all boxed.

If running Firefox too, disable proxy server.

A:need help w/passing JS to php

You pass functions to PHP either using GET or POST.

With GET, you use the URL to pass values and associate them with parameters.
With POST, you embed the values and parameters into the http request data.

Lets use GET because it's simpler.

This is what passing parameters to a PHP file using GET looks like:

http://www.testwebsite.com/somephpfile.php?param1=one&param2=two&param3=three

Using this URL you pass 3 values to somephpfile.php: one, two, three. These went to the parameters param1, param2, and param3 respectively.

Now, in your PHP, to access these values, you use $_GET["param1"] and $_GET["param2"] & $_GET["param3"]

So, assuming you will be passing purpose, value1, op, value2, and total to your PHP code, it should look like this:

<?php
$servername = "localhost";$username = "root";$password = "cookie";$dbname = "homedb";
// Create connection
$conn = mysqli_connect($servername, $username, $password, $dbname);
// Check connection
if (!$conn)
{ die("Connection failed: " . mysqli_connect_error()); }
$sql = "INSERT INTO calculator (purpose, value1, op, value2, total)
VALUES ('$_GET['purpose']', '$_GET['value1']', '$_GET['op']', '$_GET['value2']', '$_GET['total']')";
if (mysqli_query($conn, $sql))
{ echo "New record created successfully"; }
else

A:not passing js vars to php

You aren't giving PHP the data to use at all.

Generally speaking, javascript runs on a client (e.g. someone's web browser) while php runs on a server. You cannot, therefore, expect them just to pass the value of a variable from one to the other because they're running on physically different computers. In most cases you have to transmit some data over the network (from client to server or vice versa) for the computer that you want to work with it to have access.
If, for example, you used javascript to write the value to a web form which called the php script that uses said value, or you looked into something like AJAX, then you could make sure php gets the variable you want it to.

Good morning all.
I'm having difficulty creating the address line for a website. The main web address is:

http://aa.usno.navy.mil/

Upon entering the site, I can select DATA SERVICES and then either "COMPLETE SUN AND MOON DATA FOR ONE DAY" or "TABLE OF SUNRISE/SUNSET...FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR". I have no problem with the second option. My address line is:

http://aa.usno.navy.mil/cgi-bin/aa_...2=30&yy0=1&yy1=35&yy2=15&zz0=-1&zz1=4&ZZZ=END

What I can't get to work is the first option. I think it should be:

http://aa.usno.navy.mil/cgi-bin/aa_...2=30&yy0=1&yy1=35&yy2=15&zz0=-1&zz1=4&ZZZ=END

which is the same line replacing 'rstablew' with pap, and adding the month and day: xxm=9 and xxd=4. It doesn't like it.

Can you please take a look at the source code for option 1, COMPLETE...FOR 1 DAY, and figure out what I'm missing.

FFX=2...FORM 2
xxy=2006...year
xxm=9...month
xxd=4...day
xx0=-1...west longitude
xx1=078...degrees longitude
xx2=30...minutes longitude
yy0=1...north latitude
yy1=38...degrees latitude
yy2=30...minutes latitude
zz0=-1...time zone west of Greenwich
zz1=4... 4 hours

ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:= _
"C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Book5.xls", FileFormat:= _
xlNormal, Password:="", WriteResPassword:="", ReadOnlyRecommended:=False _
, CreateBackup:=False

And be able to declare varStar in several modules, but still have the value of varStar pass to my Sub Template. The "Main" module as I will call it (the one that will call Template) will be called from a UserForm within Excel. So only one module will be passing variables to Template at a time.

I am trying to pass a variable from one form to another and to ultimately requery a listbox when a form closes.
I have a list box on a tabbed form and each tab has it's own listbox. When I double click a record in the list box it opens an edit form and passes the previous listbox name to the edit form. Once the form is edited and all changes are made the form is closed and the previous list box requeries.

I can get it to pass the listbox name to the edit form with no issues into a text box. The problem comes passing that to an onClose event and using it as a variable to refresh the main list box.

Dim varListbox As Variant
varListbox = Me.Text58 (It puts double quotes around the listbox name eg. "List9")

Forms![frm_TabbedEmployee].[varListbox].Requery

I want to use a variable because every tab has a different listbox name. It works if I hard code the listbox name in the last line of the code.

Have you considered using a Select Case to evaluate which list box, then you would use your hard coded reference for each Tab choice

I have code that I've written based on this link http://www.ozgrid.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34245 and others that I have found link. However, I get a type mismatch on the following line and when I debug and hover over Me.SheetsToExport_LBox is says it = Null
Code:

Functions.Forms_AddItemToListBox Me.SheetsToExport_LBox, lngSheetIndex, rngWkName.Text, rngWkName.offset(, intOffset)

Anyone that can help me solve this conundrum? I'd be very grateful...

The full code is here and is Private Sub on a UserForm that is called from the UserForm_Activate() event

Code:
Private Sub FillListBoxesOnForm()

Dim rngWkName As Range, lngSheetIndex As Long, intOffset As Integer

'=== Fill In List Boxes ========
'set offset for which export type is needed
If Me.optClientCopy.Value = True Then intOffset = 2 Else: intOffset = 3

lngSheetIndex = 1
For Each rngWkName In UserControls_ws.Range("Exported_Sheets")
If SheetExists(rngWkName.Text) Then
Functions_Forms.AddItemToListBox Me.SheetsToExport_LBox, lngSheetIndex, rngWkName.Text, rngWkName.offset(, intOffset)
If Me.optClientCopy.Value = True Then
Select Case rngWkName.Text
Case Is = "A_11_Reclasses", "A_12_M-1s"
Functions_Forms.AddItemToListBox Me.lbox_formulastokeep, lngSheetIndex, rngWkName.Text, rngWkName.offset(, 3)
End Select

A:Passing a ListBox as Parameter

I cannot read your whole code but I use the follwoing syntax and it works:
Call the function upon opening the form so the list box initializes
Code:

Function Read_TypeCodes()
Dim rng As Range, l As Long
Set wsa = Sheets("your sheet's name")
l = 0
For Each rng In Range(wsa.Range("A1").Value)
With Me.tCodeBox
.AddItem rng.Value
l = l + 1
End With
Next rng
Me.tCodeBox.ListRows = WorksheetFunction.Min(lMax, l)
End Function

Actually there's no functional difference. This is a well known programming paradygn. Both are pointers.

I have a question about my CPU. I have checked using programs such as CPU-Z to try and see why my computer was running slowly but nothing is working at full speed. This is annoying me as for games such as football manager 12 it is running slow but my CPU is refusing to use any more of its capacity. My core speed according to CPU-Z has never passed 800Mhz, even when running these programs and with game booster on (which changes my power plan to a minimum processor state of 100%.

Is there any way for me to make the processor work better? As this is making my entire computer pretty sluggish.

Thank you

I am using Access 2003. What is the correct format to use a variable from some Visual Basic code as a criteria in a query.

I have the following code.

Public temp As String.

temp = ProjectName + "*"

ProjectName is from a combo box on a form

I step through this and see that temp contains what I want.

I then want to use temp for a Criteria in a query. I want to have the criteria: Like temp. I am not sure what the correct format is for referencing a variable though. I can pass a variable from a form with the format [Forms]![MainPage]![ProjectName] but can't get a variable in code to work. Thanks -Kevin

A:Passing a variable to a Query

Can you provide some more details? Are you trying to create a recordset from a SQL statement or do you already have a built in query created in Access that you would like to pass a parameter to?

I searched a bit, but I don't seem to find anything for this... I'm also pretty sure I know the answer but to cross-check here it goes...

I have a computer I need to reformat... windows is just plain gone, I spent all last night trying to fix windows and I just couldn't, tried almost everything and at the end even did a repair install and the computer booted up with the same windows files missing etc... I ran 4 different av software and I won't even go into the anti-spy ware software I tried... so I finally decided to make a clone of my computer into a new hd and after I tested everything was working I used another "new" hd to install a fresh copy of windows.

Here's the part I hate... I have every license for the programs I used on the computer... but most of them (around 70%) where bought online... most of these are no longer available or too old to find in the net, for those that I find, I'm in the process of downloading or asking the company to send me a copy etc etc... but for those that are not available, well... I'm in a bad situation. I can build another computer and just leave the messed up windows and keep using it till it goes kaput, or as in this case I can try to find some way to get the software to work on my new computer...

So the question is: "Is there a way to copy the software from the old windows to the new windows?"

If not I'll just have to go with plan A) and just build a new system and keep ... Read more

A:Passing software to a new Computer

You can not copy installed programs from one computer to another, they will have to be reinstalled.
Whenever you purchase software online it's a good idea to burn a copy (or 2)to cd along with any serial/activation numbers associated with them.

I have a customer form that will be used to create a job linked to the customer that is currently active on the screen. When you rpess the Add Job Button I want it to pass the vakue for the PK to the new job form which is an unbound form. All I want to do is populate a text box one the form with the customer ID to create the new job for the customer. I am sure it is a simple matter, but I cannot find the answer anywhere.

OBP??

A:Passing values in Access

Rockn, no problem, any reason why the New Job form is "unbound"?
In the VBA for the command button that opens the form add this after the form is opened

forms![new form name]![text field name] = me.PK

where new form name is the name of your form and text field name is the name of text field to accept the PK

in windows 2000 you need (adminstrative?)privileges to defrag the hard drive, but there is a simple way around this by logging off and logging on as.....? i forget. this isn't a hack or a tweak, it's a simple way around that i read or heard about. i'm not familiar with windows 2000 yet but i need to know these things.

You might try Admin or Administrator and no password, but that depends on how the machine was installed.

I have an HTA file that can launch the application with no problems, and when hard-coded with a file name, it works as well. But I need to be able to pass a variable/parameter to the HTA file from the ASP file that is displaying all the links. How can this be done from an ASP file?

Hey,

I thought I would clean out some of the dust from inside my case so I turned my pc off and unplugged everything and cleaned it out with a soft (very soft) brush on the hover (vacuum) I didnt come into contact with it incase it sucked up a jumper or damaged something.

Anyway after carefully cleaning it I plugged all the cables back in and turned it on. Everything seemed to have started up perfectly but no display. I though ok something is wrong. I turned it off and left it for about an hour and tried again and still no avail. The Keyboard responded with the num lock, caps lock and scroll lock lights working when i pressed the buttons. My USB devices lit up. So i went back to benchmark the pc like the article on here. Still nothing.

So I thought Okay

I know that sometimes it could be a RAM stick so I tried them all one by one and with a certain one in my screen came on but the MoBo Logo and text on BIOS was all... (Well Poor) so Ok. Greetings!

I just upgraded my PC with a new motherboard and CPU from Fry's two days ago, but my old PC100 ram wouldn't work. I went out and got 512 DDR ram, plugged all the cords in, make sure everything is snug, powered on, and it gives me short, continuous beeps for about 10 seconds, then reboots itself and does the same thing again. I stripped out everything but the CPU, 1 stick of 256 ram, and my video card, and it still does the same thing.

Now, if I unplug the 12V ATX cable and power on, it doesn't do anything. No beeps, no nothing. I'm guessing that's because I've unplugged the processor power and it doesn't even bother to POST without the CPU.

Now I looked up what the short beeps mean in the mobo's book, and it just says "power error." I had a 350w power supply, and it ran a P3 733mhz fine. Now I'm running a 2.6Ghz P4 on a GA-8IK1100 board. I went and nabbed a 450w supply just in case, put that in and took out the video card, but it still gives me those beeps. At this point, there's only 4 things in my computer: My CPU, motherboard, RAM, and the power supply. Since I just bought every one of those less than a week ago, I'm guessing one of them is bad. Or maybe I'm missing something else?

Any suggestions welcome, including ones to take a hammer to the whole thing.

Hey guys, basically as the title says - when I select multiple items and attempt to Open With an application only the first parameter is passed and the rest discarded. Any ideas?

I run Comodo Defense+ and have tried disabling it to no avail.

Anyone experienced this behaviour or have an idea how I can at least troubleshoot it?
(Used to work as expected but has been like this for quite a while now so would rather not system restore)

Thanks

I am trying to launch msiexec to install a package.
If I launch it from a CD disc, then it works fine.
If I lanuch it on the network, it fails.

Its a question about paths I think.
I wonder if msiexec.exe can handle easily network paths , especially if I pass it:

msiexec.exe /package \\myserver\Installer3rdPartyInstalls\myinstaller.msi

This works ok:
msiexec.exe /package c:\Installer3rdPartyInstalls\myinstaller.msi

this worked:

Hi,

I saw this problem listed, but My issue is a bit different and the previous solution didn't work for me.

Please forgive me if any of my posts offend, as I am new to this site. I don't intend to be rude, but my ignorace may anger some. Also forgive the length of the post, I wish to be thorough as to avoid getting possible solutions that I have already tried or are not relavent.

I recently had some repairs done on my computer which involved reformatting my hard drive and when I got it back started having trouble accessing some internet sites. Unlike the previous person's post with this issue i can still access the internet and 95% of sites, but a select (and seemingly random) few give the IE cannot access website error. When I run the networking Diagnostics for Windows XP get the following error:

Check the Firewall settings for the HTTP Port (80), HTTPS port (443), and FTP port (21)

The only firewalls I know of on my computer are Windows and my router (both of which I have disabled) i have also tried Firefox and it craps out at the same exact sites.

In addition to selected sites, some third party programs are having trouble accessing the internet. This includes Nortons Installer (I haven't been able to install my antivirus yet because of this error) and I haven't been abble to register Microsoft office after I installed because it cannot access the internet for ID Key Verification.

Well, this has me baffled. My Bell Internet Security Services Activation (I just installed it on a computer not used for some 4 or 5 months) popped up a window saying "Waiting for Internet connection"...and waiting and waiting. But my Netgear wireless connection to the router in the house indicates "very good" signal strength, which I thought meant I was connected. Obviously not!

I tried opening IE. "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page" (much as I expected)

Clicked the button which was showing on the IE cannot connect page "Diagnose connection problems" and followed the instructions. The final diagnostic is "Windows cannot connect to the internet using HTTP, HTTPS or FTP. This is probably caused by firewall settings on this computer. Check the firewall settings for the ports HTTP...etc." Where on this earth are they?!

I checked the Windows Firewall settings and found it "off (not recommended)" so I switched it on.

I re-ran the diagnostic on the IE page and nothing has changed.

My question is:

How do I check the settings for HTTP port (80) and HTTPS port (443) and FTP port (21)? Also what do I set them to?

Many thanks, in advance, for a solution to my problem!

A:Solved: Help! Settings for HTTP port (80), HTTPS port (443), FTP port (21)

So you just installed an Internet Security Suite which has a Firewall built-in and then you enabled XP' built-in firewall? I am baffled as to why you would do that. The new software you installed has to be blocking it somehow. I would search their website for known issues.

However when I type "special" characters such as ' or foreign language characters they are fine in illustrator, but when they get to photoshop they end up as squares
I use photoshop 5.0 and illustrator 9.0

I have PhotoShop but not Illustrator so I don't know if this will help. Is the special (foreign language) font that you're using in Illustrator included in your Windows font folder? It seems to me that it would have to be in order for PhotoShop to recognize it.

Hi:

Newbie here. I am having a problem with xp pro and ie 6.1. It is happening on all 3 of my machines.

If I try and go to an internet ip address via typing it into the address bar it will go there no problem.

But if the same ip address is in a html file as a link IE will give me a white screen (address bar still reads the original html address). Then if I hit refresh it will proceed to the ip address (address bar now read the correct ip address).

Anyone got a clue as to what is happening here?

Thanks,

john
