It's finally time to build my first computer!!

Q: It's finally time to build my first computer!!

Hello all,
I'm in the research stage of building a computer. I have a few questions that I have not been able to find formerly addressed in this forum.

I'm leaning towards an AMD processor. Would a 64 bit be the way to go? Will my current software work with it? I'd like to be able to upgrade this along the way: add a video card, sound card, TV tuner, the kitchen sink. Obsolete is one thing, being trapped with old technology that can't be upgraded is another thing entirely.

I use the computer mostly for internet and some digital imagery. I don't do any gaming, but my kids do. (translation: in order to keep my kids off my computer, I don't want it souped up for gaming. they can buy their own!!)

I am currently using windows xp-sp2, an upgraded version from win 98. Should I budget for a new xp instead of installing 98, then upgrading? I think I know the answer, but I was just wondering if I could save a few bucks to spend on something a little more fun!!

Preferred Solution: It's finally time to build my first computer!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just want to run what I have decided on by everyone for their opinions.

I will not be doing any gaming... Maybe one day.

I will be going to school totally online.
Watching movies
Doing a lot of photo adjustments and working on websites.

Hard Drive

Power Supply

Video Card (I already have this but I will buy a different one if needed)

Lastly i would like to run a two monitor set up. Would be especially helpful once I start school. Especially when I begin the MBA program totally online.

All comments are wanted and welcome.

A:Going to do my build Finally! Please help

I think your set up is fine, where's your ram, though, also are you overclocking or planning to, if not then everything is fine.

OK, the age old question “what should I look for in a new computer?”, but with a few variations. The new CPU we buy will be used for three things. First (and foremost) gaming. I’ve been dealing with a 6 year old Computer for quite some time, and I am EXTREMELY anxious to get back into the PC gaming world, specifically with titles such as Oblivion, Half Life, Fear, Age of Empires III, etc.

Secondly, the new CPU will be used for uploading digital pictures and video, downloading music, and burning said audio and video to CD/DVD. Nothing Professional, mostly pictures and video of our son being 3 and making us laugh.

The only other thing we really will use it for is Internet use. We do not need a monitor, keyboard, anything else, just the CPU.

So, my question then is, for someone like me who is rather out of touch, is there really a solid benefit to building your own, as opposed to just going to Best Buy, buying a unit with a sweet processor, upgrade the RAM (2GB?) and video card (GeForce 7800GS?), and be on my way? Are the computers at Best Buy just crap by proper tech standards? I don’t know the first thing about motherboards, power supply, cooling systems, BRand quality, Intel vs. AMD, etc, etc, etc… But I have gathered from glancing through a few other forums that for gaming, it’s a three pronged attack- processor, RAM, and Video Card. Our budget is in the $1000 range, give or take.

Any advice would be awesome.

My new PC is finally together, meaning I finally 'afforded' the rest of the parts. I'm gonna like Windows 7 pro. I have a question or two.

My new build…
Inexpensive Raidmax case (I liked the looks)
OCZ 550watt Fatal1ty psu
Gigabyte 790XTA-UD4 MB
AMD Phenom II X4 965 black 3.4 ghz (125 watt)
4 gig Patriot 1600 mhz memory
WD ‘black’ 640 MB HD
Diamond ATI 5750 GPU
Plextor DVD burner/combo drive
Aero cool Modern-V fan controller
3 Antec green led fans
3 ½ bay card reader
3 ½ bay hub w/ sata and usb etc.
O.S. Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
I am pretty excited about his system!!! ;~)

The OS in in and I am about to load all the stuff that came with the MB, GPU, and DVD drive. I have always been a little hesitant concerning all the stuff on the MB CD. Do I just load everything, or are there any cautions that anyone would want to clue me in on. Also, can I use Office XP in this system? How about other programs that I use on my XP 32 bit machine?

Thanks folks...

Now I just have to pick out the parts.

Okay, I've already got a Chieftec Dragon case, Side window with 80 mm fan, Front panel 2 USB 2.0, 1 Firewire, room for 4 more 80 mm fans, I've already got 2.

Basically what I want is a P4 system that'll perform good, do some OCing, but won't blow the bank. I've got $6500 to spend, though unless someone can convince me otherwise; $800 of that is already alotted to buy me a laptop for school.

I also already have a 500 watt PS, a Modding Kit, some Arctic Silver, etc.

I need to pick out a CD-RW drive, DVD-ROM drive, MOBO, CPU, Graphics Card, two HDDs, whatever I'll need to run two different OSs...

I'm thinking I'm going to buy an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro, because I read an article that said you can overclock it to Hell and back with no ill effects...Hence the major buckage isn't worth it for a 9800 Pro.

I'll need some OCing RAM, Any other Cables that I'm gonna need to hook the mofo up etc.

I really don't want to buy anything before consulting you guys, but the money's burning a hole in my pocket as we speak so please help me ASAP!!!

Argh I?ve been contemplating on when to buy a new rig for a while now. I want one sooooo badlyyyyy... I've got about 2500 dollars in my wallet and really wanna get one... But anyways with Vista w/ DX10 and Conroe coming out and who knows what next year anybody have a suggestion as to when would be a good time to buy? (I need an answer better then never here... if possible...)

Conroe is coming out (July 23?) at surprisingly cheap prices I've been thinking now is the time to buy! However I wanna wait till DX10 cards become available and hopefully by then the prices on the Conroe processors and mobos will have dropped a bit. Anyways, is it a bad idea? Good idea? Why? and when do some of you folks plan on buying new rigs?

I'm building a PC in a few months and was wondering if the following would run fine, or if i'm even heading in the right direction. I'm not quite certain if the PSU is enough. I'm looking for this PC to play the latest games with ease (ie. Assassins Creed, Bioshock, Black and White 2...etc) and hold the ability for heavy multi-tasking XD as well as run Vista. Basically an all-in-all good PC.

Here's what i've planned out:
(Note: I've tried to keep this as cheap as possible (Australian Dollars) without taking away too much from performance. Though i suspect prices will fall over the next three months so i'm open for suggestions for more expensive parts.)

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 ($135)
RAM: Corsair Value Select 1GB x 2 ($110)
CPU: Intel Quad Core Q6600 ($330)
VIDEO: 256MB Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce 8600GTS ($245)
OPTICAL: Asus 18x Lightscribe DVD Burner ($42)
HD: Seagate 320GB ($90)
DISPLAY: Dell 19" Widescreen ($250)
Option 1 - Thermaltake Soprano Black with 430W PSU ($140)
Option 2 - Thermaltake Soprano DX Black without PSU ($190)
PSU: ?

I think that's about it for now.
Thanks in advance.

A:First Time Computer Build - Help and Suggestions?

Use this Power Supply Calculator
It will give you an estimate of your required wattage.
I would recommend a PSU around the 600W range. Just to make your system open to newer upgrades.
PSU brands are really important in terms of reliability. Good PSU manufacturers include Antec, Thermaltake, Cooler Master, Seasonic, FSP, Enermax.

Your motherboard is a bit on the low side, especially since you are using it with the mighty Q6600.
First of all, you should not get the P965 chipset anymore, because it's being replaced by the newer one, the P35 chipset.
One excellent Gigabyte P35 mainstream board is the GA-P35-DS3R (the famous GA-P965-DS3 was its predecessor).

For the RAM, 2x1GB is a good amount, but you need to stay away from the Value series (it's for people who are on a really tight budget).
The Corsair XMS2 series is great mid/high-end RAM and would be perfect.
You should get regular DDR2 RAM (800MHz is enough). Get a 2GB dual channel kit and make sure the sticks have 4-4-4 timings.
Corsair XMS2 2x1GB DDR2-800MHz PC2-6400 (4-4-4-12)
Try to find the same one at the place you shop at.

For the video card, the 8600GTS doesn't exactly justify its price. It performs barely any better than the 8600GT, yet it costs $60-$100 more.
I would recommend that you either push your budget and get an 8800GTS-320MB (entry-level high-end card), or get the XFX 8600GT XXX-Edition (an overclocked 8600GT, more value for the money than the 8600GTS).

A:Problem officer? First time computer build!

Your monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 906BW from the other thread) runs a max resolution of 1440 x 900 so unless you plan on changing it for a larger monitor which supports higher reoslution you can look at lower specification graphics cards and check their performance in reviews/Tomshardware/Anantech sites to see if it would be suitable for your gaming needs. I suggest looking at benchmarks and search for the graphics card you are considering and the games you play to see how it performs at the 1440x900 (or similar 1680 x 1050, 1366 x 768m etc.) resolution.

Just one, 4GB should be fine. Plus you can always get more later if you need it. For gaming anything over 8GB is generally considered overkill. I'd start with the 4GB.

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115220 This is the most expensive item, should i stick with the i5, or can i go with an i3?Click to expand...

If I remember correctly i5 is a quad core (4 CPU cores in one) part. i3 is dual core, with this is in mind more and more games are utilizing multiple processor cores so I wouldn't recommend anything below a 4 core processor. If you want to save some money I'd go for an AMD quad core or 6 core CPU instead of the i3. You won't need the i5 for the games you have listed but it is a better performer. What... Read more

Fully one month after its previous release, Microsoft has finally provided a refreshed new build of Windows 10 Mobile to Windows Insiders on the Fast ring. But build 10549 offers yet another complexity for testers to wrestle with: With this build, you have to upgrade from Windows Phone 8.1. That means wiping out any phones that are already using previous Insider Preview builds.

Yep. That?s the sound you hear. wa-waa-waaahhhh.

Why this draconian step? According to Microsoft, which it discovered a bug late last night?yep, last night?that caused phones upgrading from build 10536 to get stuck at a black screen after the new build is installed. So rather than make you wait even longer, Microsoft decided to release this build as a single update from Windows Phone 8.1 only.

The good news: If you decide to stick with build 10536, you can just wait a bit?hey, what?s a month between friends??and upgrade to the next Fast Ring build instead.

?We know having to go back to Windows Phone 8.1 to get this new build is a bit of work,? Microsoft explains. ?By doing so you are also helping us test the upgrade path that millions of Windows Phone 8.1 customers will take to upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile, so we appreciate the adventurous Insiders who choose to go this route and give us feedback.?

LOL. Whatever.

Here?s what?s new in this build:

Cortana improvements. Cortana now works for users in Japan and for English speakers in Australia and Canada. You can find out more here.

finally real choice and the power to actually host a web server at home for 50 bux a month... (with real upload power)

woo hoo!!!

In the future im assuming cable companies will be left in the dust.. coax bandwidth is no match for fiber. (48Mbps vs 10Gbps)

Ive read they stream dish network tv through this fiber too. (competition is good)

I predict.. comcast and time warner will have to upgrade to fttc as well... if not.. sayonara.

and no.. i dont work for verizon.... Im just happy to see it.

I've been enjoying FiOS 15mbit/2mbit service here for a few months. It really leaves Comcast in the dust, and the reliability has been perfect so far.

Hey people, Norton is REALLY slowing down my computer. There is SIX (Yes, SIX.) OH WAIT, SEVEN. Svchost.exe processes running at the SAME time. A total of 48,628 K of my memory usage!!! Just from those 6 svchost.exe processes. 59,012 K TOTAL. Now, with FireFox running, I have 316M/1226M Commit Charge! The svchost.exe processes sometimes some get to like 50 CPU. This is totally ridicules. (If I spelled that right.) Only having 512MB of ram, I quite frankly don't like it at all. Well, a MAX of 2gb ram which I am thinking of getting. Only $40 because this computer is crap. No PCI-Ex 16 slots. NONE. Just x1. Oh well , I think I'm giving up on Norton.

Hey everyone. I've got a weird problem I am trying to get to the bottom of once and for all. I'm using an ASUS G60JX laptop w/ Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I've got 6gb of RAM, NVIDIA GTS360M GPU and a intel core i7 processor. (1.something ghz) Basically, the laptop will freeze at weird times. The freeze is a hard freeze, you cant get out of it. There is no blue screen of death to go with it. For example, I could have Chrome open (A few tabs) and then go to start a program like Audacity, and all of a sudden, the computer just freezes. And im forced to do a hard shutdown. I believe it's safe to say this tends to happen when I'm multi-tasking. I dont recall it ever happening when not running multiple things at once. HOWEVER this problem has more to it than just that... I've had this laptop for 1.5 years now. During that time, this problem has come and gone. It has also come in a different form, where while playing any type of flash thing, the computer would freeze BUT, after waiting for a while, it would come back... which was really weird. Everything has been absolutely dandy the past 2-3 months. However, last night I decided to re install my OS, because I wanted to start back from a clean state. Everything went fine, and I've updated my computer completely. BUT now the freezing is back, in the original form of being a hard freeze, forcing me to shut down completely. I know my CPU isn't overheating in this circumstance, although it does run ho... Read more

All good, everything will work together. My only comment is why are you buying an SLI deluxe mobo, but going with an ATI graphics card? If you want 2 ATI's in there then you need to look for a Crossfire mobo, not the SLI. SLI is made by and FOR nVidia graphics cards only. (6XXX, 7XXX and 8XXX series).

Hi - any help will be appreciated for my problem. Since yesterday, my computer takes forever to boot, then slows down progressively as I work. Even opening hte control panel takes a few minutes; printing takes up to 10 or 15 minutes for a doc that used to take a few seconds. Shutting down is painful. It takes a long time - like 10 minutes or so, sometimes longer. While I work, the computer slows down to the point that it becomes non responsive and just sits there for up to 20 minutes at a time. I tried most of what you posted on your checklist. I also did scans with AVG and Webroot's Spy Sweeper (after updating both) and got rid of some stuff that they caught. (AVG took about 7 HOURS to run in safe mode!). I updated virus defs and scanned everything. There were no viruses. I tried the defrag, but the analysis shows no need for defragging. Today, it's marginally better, but still not like it used to be. Please look at the attached hijackthis file and tell me if there is anything I have missed. A:Computer Slows Down And Finally Stops Responding

Hello Kanga and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I don't see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean. The HijackThis forum deals exclusively with virus and malware issues. HijackThis does not have the capability to analyze performance, hardware or application issues. For these types of issues I would suggest posting to the Windows XP Home and Professional forumThe techs in that forum specialize in matters pertaining to the operating system, performance and applications. Let them know that you have been to this forum and that no malware was found. When posting to any other forum, do not post a HijackThis log or the post will simply be moved back to this forum for infection analysis. That is what HijackThis is used for and that is what we specialize in here in this forum. Also, when posting in any other forum for assistance, give as much detail as possible regarding any issues that are occurring. The more information they have, the better the techs can analyze the issue and make any recommendations for resolving it.Cheers.OT

I don't know the model number as I took off the sticker on the bottom, which was a ****ing stupid move, as that has everything I need to know about the ****ing computer when trying to fix it. Sorry for the harsh language, but I'm still frustrated about doing this. But, after looking for YouTube videos, I have come to the thought that it may be a model HP Pavilion 15-f010dx.

Anyways, a few months ago, my computer went through a factory reset.

- I assumed there was malware and viruses on my PC that could not be detected.
- The computer was really slow and deleting tons of files didn't really do much.

I went to sleep for 9 hours, and when I woke up, the factory reset was on 2%. Now, it may have been still working because I had a ton of files, or it actually did freeze somehow, but I did the stupidest thing. I shut off the laptop, and decided to restart the factory reset. It was on 2% again after 5 minutes, so I played a game for an hour, and it was still on 2%. I was furious, and turned it off and gave up, and decided I'd just use the computer normally again the next day. As I turned it on, the loading orb was gone, but the HP logo was still there. After that, the screen just went black, and Windows 10 didn't start. I came to the conclusion the laptop was dead. I got a new laptop, and reinstalled my original stuff from new sources.

A few months later, I decided to grab the laptop again. Everything is working besides the OS startup, the System Restore, and generally... Read more

For 6 months my laptop with Vista would work ok for a while and then the screen would freeze on either Internet Explorer or Foxfire. I tried everything. Nothing worked. I must have had to use my restore disk at least 15 times. This wiped out all my files and I had to start over. The last time my computer froze was over 4 months ago. I decided not to download any of the Windows updates. Not even Service Pack 2. My laptop has run like new ever since. Not once have I had Vista freeze up on my. So the problem has to be with one of the Window Update files causing the problems for many Vista owners. Does anyone have any idea which Windows update file that might be?

Hi there

I had a particularly stubborn version of CWS spyware which kept taking me to About:Blank on Internet Explorer. I scanned and "fixed" the problem with Spybot, Ad-Aware and Spwyware Eliminator, but it kept popping up again. I then ran AboutBuster and HSfix, and seem to have finally got rid of the spyware because none of the above anti-spyware scanners pick it up anymore. HOWEVER, I can still not connect to the internet with IE or Firefox, and can't download my email using Outlook Express. I can dial up to my servise provider and get a connection without any problem, and I no longer get taken to About:Blank when I opne IE, but when I open IE or Firefox, I just get a message saying something about not being able to connect to the address I specify (such as www.google.com). When I reboot, I also get a Windows message asking what software should be used to open "main.hat".

Am I still infected or has CSW just stuffed up my settings??

I am not confident enough to start deleting files using HiJackThis, but below is the HJT log

Please help, as I need the infected computer for working on my PhD thesis

My current system was upgraded to windows 7 32bit from vista 32bit (I bought the windows 7 home premium upgrade disc when it was first released). I am going to build a complete new system. Can I install windows 7 64bit from the same windows 7 disc? Or do I have to buy a new windows 7 disc? Is there a way around buying a whole new disc?

A:Solved: New computer build work with old build's Windows 7 Disc?

It won't activate and you will end up in Safe Mode permanently. One machne = one license. You need to buy another full version. But you can do it if you don't use 7 on the old machine. You will just have to activate by phone and explain. Then if you go online with both, one will deactivate and go to Safe Mode.

Hi, Tech Guys!

First, the preliminaries: I am running an HP Media Center PC Model Number m1070n. My Operating System is: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (Windows XP Professional Version 5.1, Build 2600, Service Pack 3). My CPU is a 3.40 GHz Intel Pentium 4 Processor Chip with Hyper-Threading. I also have an ATI Radeon X700 Pro PCI-Express Graphics Card (256 MB GDDR3 Memory) with ATI Catalyst Control Center 9.3 installed. I have 2.560 GB of Usable DIMM Installed Memory and a 144 GB hard drive with 24% free space left. None of the hardware is new, and BIOS and all Microsoft Security and Software Updates, etc., are up to date. I have not made any BIOS updates in a few years now, but it is still the most up-to-date BIOS version available for my PC (HP BIOS Version 3.28). The ATI Graphics Card was installed into the machine by the Geek Squad when I bought it at Best Buy way back in 2004. I changed the CPU myself from a 2.80 GHz to a 3.40 GHz chip over four years ago. I also installed an after-market Bestec-equivalent 550-Watt Power Supply (Model ATX-300-12Z-550-24P) about two years ago after we had a local power failure with no problems ever since the installation. I am running ZoneAlarm Free Edition Firewall with the Windows Firewall disabled. I am also running AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 9.0.901, Spy Sweeper for MSN Version, Microsoft Windows Defender Version 1.1.1593.0, Lavasoft Ad-Aware Free Edition 9.0.6, and Spybot Search & Destroy Free Edit... A:I Have To Reset My Windows XP Computer Several Times Before It Finally Boots!

i realise that you don't want to switch off the pc at the moment. As it is running, can you check in event viewer and see if there are any error messages. Now, I realise you said that the pc starts to a black screen and "doesn't get to the BIOS screen". When you have tried booting, did you try to get to the BIOS by pressing the relevant key (may be F2, ESC or DEL) just to see if you could get there; did you try pressing F8 to get to safe mode. also do you have the OS disk.

So I just returned my linksys G (my pc couldnt hook to the net for some reason) and I get my M$ mn-820 G Kit
when im installing it (i got the components installed) the setup wizard wont recognise my base station. Ive tried 9 different pairs and combinations of ethernet cable and it still wont see the base(funny thing is im hooked up to the G router right now as im typing this)
The help section said to disable NAT on my modem (I dont have any documentation or anything for my modem)

(Last night when my linksys was hooked the setup wiz did the same thing and didnt detect the base... and the only was i could do my stuff upstairs was to have the adapter straight connected to the item(laptop, xbox))

GAH I can't figure out what to do, and I already have to much dents and holes in the drywall as it is.

A:first time build

Go one step bigger and get an AMD64/3000 (with Venice core), Socket939, and a corresponding motherboard with AGP, such as MSI's K8N Neo2 Platinum.
In future you could e.g. upgrade just the CPU for a DualCore CPU.

And get a case with a better and more powerful PSU, like the Antec Sonata II.

You don't need an extra soundcard, it has it built-in.

The above changes should not cost you more than ca. £70.-

I am having trouble with windows recognizing my 3rd sata hard drive. My 1st time building my own pc. MB fried and Monarch is outa business so....
I purchased a ASUS A8n32-SLI MB, I have a new tt 700w tough power ps. And I bought a new x2 4400+ cpu to replace the single core I had on fried mb. I got 2 74 gb raptors in raid 0-healthy with a fresh windows install. I have a 3rd wd 250 gb sata drive that is listed in my bios but doesn't show up in windows under disk managment even after doing a new hardware scan and a disk rescan in both windows and dos environment. The 3rd hd does show up in device manager under "SCSI and RAID Controllers" but not under "Disk Drives" in device manager.
All 3 sata drives are from my previous system that had a A8n-SLI Deluxe MB with the same 2 raptors in raid 0 and the 3rd used for storing mp3's. The 2 raptors are on one sata power cord while the 3rd is on its own.
All I want is to recover the damn music folder I was stupid enough not to backup. Lesson learned. Since the 3rd drive was used for storage on previous mb, I figured I would be able to just plug it into new mb and bam- no such luck. Am I going about this the right way or is there a better way of going about this? Willing to spend a little to recover lost data if need be? But even so, it seems I should be able to atleast initilize the 3rd hd with new system- its only 6 months old. All other parts are in fine working condiion from old system- 2 6800 gt vc, sou... I have an old SOYO Red Dragon PC which is getting pretty old and slow, compared to newer models. I would like to refurbish it as a second or back-up computer but don't want to spend a ton of money doing it. Can anyone recommend a motherboard that is 64 bit, but uses the intel processor, memory, power supply, etc from the old computer? Basically, I just want to swap the motherboard and as few other parts as possible to upgrade this machine. Thanks!

I'm building a PC, and I'd just like to know if all the parts are compatible, the video card is any good and weather I should get a better case than I already have. I'm looking to be able to play all current games and emulate PS2/GC (via a completely legal BIOS dump + using legit CDs). Also maybe a bit of overclocking, which I know I'll probably need some better cooling hardware, but that won't until later so I can pick it up as I need it rather than buying it now. As I've said I'm a bit iffy about the case, if I do find temperatures running a bit high, can I just mod it a bit for improved airflow/install a new fan & heatsink, or are there other problems to be concerned about.

Attached is a picture of what I have so far.

Looks fine to me but I have 2 suggestions. Using an Intel cpu, I would be buying an Intel board as first choice, or another make but with an Intel chipset at least.
I would suggest WD hard drive. Seagate sata drives have been awful lately and I have seen many bad right out of the box, or shortly later.

I am trying to build my own computer, using mostly new parts (mobo, graphics card, processor, memory) but using some parts from my old computer that are still in great working condition (Audigy 2 soundcard, one 120 GB hd and a 200 GB hd) but I have a problem. Most mother boards out there today have SATA connections and only one ATA100 connection on the mother board. Because I want to keep my old harddrives, I was wondering. If I plug my ATA133 hard drives into the ATA100 connection on the motherboard, what will happen? Will the speed decrease, or will the ATA133 harddrives be unable to communicate with the ATA100 connection on the motherboard? Thank you in advance for any help.

A:Need help with first time build please!

I have yet to get a motherboard that they have started to take decrease the number of IDE channels on a board just because they have Sata on there also. They are pretty much have two channels. One usually used for your HDD's and another for your CD Roms.

To answer your queestion though yes your HDD's will still work they will just be running at the ATA100 speed instead of ATA133.

Is there any reason why you are matching the K version CPU with H77 motherboard chipset?

From what I hear the H77 is not very overclock friendly which is what the CPU K version represents.

I would consider the nVidia GTX 660 Ti or wait a few weeks for the GTX 660 to be released. If the GTX 660 is too high a price the GTX 650 should release about the same time as the GTX 660. I'm not strickly nVidia, it has been awhile since I looked at AMD's offerings.

Hi - I?m so sorry, but please forgive me for not even knowing what I should be asking.

This site sounds to good to be true and I really do hope you can assist.

During the summer, my son (11) wanted to build a computer. I thought great, keeps him off the Xbox etc. for a while. But since we built it, we are really struggling - it comes on and then goes off. Sometimes, it just doesn?t not come on. Some people have said it may be the RAM, but I?m kind of hoping someone could remote access and give it a big overhaul.

It happens in my place of work, where out IT guys remote access and work wonders.

Is this the sort of service offered here?
