I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The laptop came with pre-installed Windows 8.1 x64 and I wanted to install Windows 7 x64 Ultimate so I could enter it to a domain. I made a bootable usb with Win7 and reached the partition section on the installation wizard.
I deleted all the partitions that the system already had (Recovery. MSR and others) and procceded with the installation succesfully. After the installation finished, my system was not able to boot and it is restarting every time it reaches the
"Starting Windows" screen.

The partitions for the HDD in the beggining, looked like this.

Hi, i got the Laptop Lenovo IdeaPad 100-14IBY Model: 80MH003TGE and tried to replace the interal 2gb ddr3l sodimm ram with 8gb ddr3 sodimm ram and the laptop won't start up, so my guess is that the mainboard does not support the normal ddr3 ram. When i switch back to the 2gb, everything works just fine.I even tried to update the bios, but that does not seem to do the trick either. Can anybody confirm this or has information on the subject?

A:Lenovo Ideapad 100-14IBY change the RAM

Hi Bontempi1950 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per product specification and Hardware manual (page 26) :
Memory:  DDR3L-1333 MHz / 1600 MHz SODIMM × 1 (max 8 GB)

DDR3L socket on the board would only be able to accept DDR3L (low voltage) RAM
Inversely , the DDR3L would work on a DDR3 and a DDR3L socket board (backward compatible).

Hello guys, I just bought a new Lenovo 100-14IBY Ideapad without an OS. Installed Windows 8.1 and all of the drivers from the Lenovo Support page, but the Wireless adapter is just not working, it's not even recognized in the Device Manager. I tried switching the Airplane mode on and off again, checked the configuration settings in the BIOS and the WAN is enabled. I don't see a physical Wireless switch anywhere on the laptop and there is no "F" button for turning the Wi-Fi on and off on the keyboard.. so at the moment I don't know what else to do. I have also tried all of this on Windows 7 also, of course no success. Could someone suggest something please? Many thanks!

Hello, I like to replace my standard harddisk in my Ideapad 100-14IBY with a SSD. I have read the corresponding Maintenance manual and followed the instructions step by step.It is impossible to remove the keyboard without breaking it, it seems like it is glued. Is there any advise, other than sending it in to a service partner, how to safely remove the keyboard ? I just don´t get it why Lenovo really makes it so hard for users to change the drive in this particular model. Thank you in advance

System: Windows 10 64 bitAfter turning it on from sleepmode the keyboard and mouse weren't working. So I restarted it and Windows installed some updates. The keyboard and the TouchPad still weren't working. The USB mouse was, also the FN keys. I tried the F6 button it didn't help, so with the screen keyboard I was able to log in and type the pass. After that I went to device manager and the Lenovo TouchPad had a yellow triangle. So I went to Lenovo website and downloaded the driver, uninstalled and installed the new one, restarted again - no luck. When I clicked on the mouse menu in control panel popped up a message that said "couldn't connect to the driver. Etc etc" In device manager even after the update it was with yellow triangle. So I saw in a thread here in the forum that sometimes the installing of Synaptics driver helped, but after that even the USB mouse stopped working and the FN keys too, so I am no longer able to log in to the notebook with the screen keyboard. I can't enter BIOS with F2. Somehow I managed to get into recovery and the USB mouse was working there but when I tried to go into safe mode I can't because of the FN keys. Any suggestions how to solve this problem?

I just bough new 110 ideapad, unfortunately, it does not have any Windows Installed, only DOS I have tried to install windows from CDROM, but it is not an option. I have changed Boot Mode on BIOS to UEFI / Legacy Support, none seem to be working. I have applied all the fixes I have read on this community, but none seem to be working. The system has USB Boot Enable/Disable Option, PXE Boot to LAN (which I guess I shouldn't be using), and IPV4 PXE First Enable / Disable Option. I have encountered all manners of error messages and I am pissed right now. I just need who will tell me what to do, or perhaps, I should return the system.

I've recently run into a problem with my Lenovo ideaPad y510p where I pass the splash screen and then my screen just goes to black. I can't get it running off of a flash drive with Windows 8 in it (the logo appears and the little loading circle spins but after 30 minutes of waiting it doesn't boot). I've also tried using a drive with ubuntu on it but every time I try to get that to work it seems that the download I have is messed up. If anyone has any suggestions I will try them out.

I installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on my Lenovo ideapad Y430 (which came with Vista Home Premium 32-bit). It worked fine for a few hours. However, it now freezes up within 1 minute after I sign on after rebooting. The cursor stops moving, Task Manager won't come up, no disk activity, etc. Booting in Safe Mode works fine, so I'm thinking it's an issue related to a driver or service that doesn't load in Safe Mode. Event Viewer doesn't reveal much of use; only the fact that I needed to power off without shutdown. Vista still runs fine on another partition.

Has anyone seen anything like this, or have any ideas on how I can get Windows 7 running again (e.g., by identifying and removing/updating the offending driver/server, if that's what's causing the problem)? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

A:Windows 7 Pro freezes on Lenovo Y430 ideapad

(Self-plagiarisation: )

The fact that it seems fine (as it's never happened - not even once?) in safe mode is A Good Thing, because it suggests that the causes are software-based. Something that loads in normal mode but not safe mode is presumably the culprit.

One way to start troubleshooting is with the MSCONFIG utility. Start off by choosing the "diagnostic" startup mode and rebooting. If that works, as in there are no hangs, go to "selective" startup and disable/enable the various optional components until you zero-in on the culprit.

If "diagnostic" mode doesn't stop the hangs from occurring in normal mode, uninstall your anti-virus and any 3rd-party firewalls (disabling them is not enough). Test what happens when running without them.

how to install windows 7 on this.  Here's what i've done: I've used both the Windows 7 DVD and i created a bootable USB wiith it (UEFI Boot).  They work. I disabled the  security in the bios, so i could work with UEFI, but when i boot the machine with either, the windows 7 loading screen happens, then it freezes on the Starting Windows animated logo.  I can get no further. When i set the bios to boot in legacy mode it gets past that part, but then asks me for a driver.   I've downloaded all of the windows 7 64 bit drivers on the Y700-15ISK driver page, but none of them seem to be the driver that windows is looking for. Right now i'm a little at the end of my rope on this.  Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you got a driver from Microsoft update that is causing you problems. Try a system restore and then turn off automatic updates so you can then choose which updates to install. Watch out for driver updates and do them one at a time till you find the one messin' you up.

NOTE: Just because it's from Microsoft doesn't mean it's the best choice.

But it was not there, the problem came from and could not think of - does not work part of the hot keys - I mean the keys "Fn +", does not operate as follows: - "Fn + F5" - enabling / disabling wireless Wi-Fi networking and Bluetooth; - "Fn + F6" - enabling / disabling the touchpad; - "Fn + Cursor up UP" - increase the brightness of the display; - "Fn + Cursor up DOWN" - decrease the brightness of the display; Naturally drivers support hot keys are installed. Hello,I just installed the free Windows 10 upgrade on my Lenovo Ideapad p400 touch last night.  I woke up this morning and booted up my computer, and everything was fine until I attempted to change the brightness.  When I tried to do this, my screen went very dim, and now I can't adjust the brightness (and I can't read my screen well, either).  Normally, I would install/reinstall the video driver in order to fix this problem (recommended for other users with similar issues), but I currently do not see a Windows 10 version of the driver I need on the Lenovo website.I was wondering:a) if/when a new driver would be available to install (if that's the recommended solution)b) is there something else going on?c) Windows 10 allows you to revert back to Windows 8.1 within the first month of use.  Should I just do this?d) Is the p400 touch capable of running Windows 10? Why or why not?Thank you!

A:Upgraded to Windows 10 on Lenovo Ideapad p400 touc...

If you look in this list -
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103535

P400 is not listed as a supported system. I doubt it will be supported in the future but you can always call and ask Lenovo directly.

Why it is going dim?
This is because of the Chipset or the Intel drivers.

What you can do to make it functional?
- Try uninstalling the chipset and Intel drivers --- Restart --- Let drivers install automatically and check.
These can be uninstalled from "Device Manager" and "Programs & Features" in Control Panel

- Revert back to windows 8.1 (This option may or may not work - Did not work on my system)
- Reset laptop to factory settings

good luck.

Hello everyone,I am using Lenovo Ideapad S405 with Windows 10 64-bit installed in it. Few hours ago when i was waking up my laptop from standby, i noticed that my display resolution had changed from 1366x768 (16:9) to 1024x768 (4:3). I went to the Device Manager and saw my display adapters (AMD Radeon HD 7450M & HD 7600G) with caution signs. So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

Are you able to get into the advanced boot menu by tapping F8? It might not be listed on the startup screen but it should still be there.

If not you can burn a repair disc from any PC with Windows 7. Theres steps from Microsoft Here.
