I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My brand-new P50 laptop was behaving as though the left trackpad button was sticking. When single-tapping the left trackpad button, it would behave as though the "click n' drag" setting was enabled: the trackpad would override the keyboard, preventing me from typing until either the trackpad was moved again or the button was clicked again.  I work for Microsoft and have always used Lenovo products without ever having encountered an issue before, so I was more than a little surprised. I called Lenovo support, and they were less than helpful. In the end, they suggested that the trackpad itself was defective. The laptop was orvernighted to the repair depot in the southeast. Naturally, there was a three-week wait for parts - despite this being a model currently in production. Finally, after causing a stink (this is, after all, my primary work machine), a helpful support tech located parts at another facility. Another week later, and my laptop was back - with the SAME problem continuing to surface. This time I dug deeper, looking into the various trackpad settings, tweaking the various "accidental interrupt" delay settings, verifying that the "click to drag" feature was disabled, and running various diagnostics on the trackpad itself. The one interesting thing I noted was that the button-stickiness only seemed to happen in applications (IE, Word, etc.) - the button "stickiness" didn't happen when scrolling through Windows... Hi every one,
Recently I purchased new PC,
After installing windows XP Pro SP3 I found that there is a missing button in Power option properties. The missing button is (When I press the sleep button on my computer), I can find only (When I press the power button on my computer).
My system configuration is as follow
Mother board Gigabyte EP45-UD3R Rev 1.1
My graphic card is ATI Radeon HD 5670
Windows XP SP3
RAM 4Gb Kingston DDRII
CPU Core 2 Quad 2.66 GHz
It worth saying that I can shutdown, hibernate or put my PC into sleep mode, so the functions are working but only the button is missing.
I will appreciated very much if some can advise me how to restore the missing button. Is there some option in BIOS that will enable this button?
I contacted Gigabyte customer support, but they directed me to Microsoft, I also contacted ATI but they directed me to Microsoft or BIOS settings. In my BIOS I can't find any option that may affect this button. Any advise will be appreciated
Best regards

A:[SOLVED] Button of (When I press sleep button) is not available in my Power option pr

Does the case actually have a separate Sleep Button? I suspect it's not even connected, as the motherboard manual doesn't show a connection for a Sleep Button, only a Power Button.
Windows Power Options won't list it, as it doesn't exist.

If you have a Sleep Button on the keyboard, it might not be listed in Power Options either. That would be up to the Driver software to add that option. You may have to use the software that came with the keyboard to configure the sleep button on the keyboard.

Friend of mine has got problem with his desktop (XP SP2) , when he starts the PC it boots normally till it reaches where it shows windows XP logo then the screen gets blank (i.e he can not see the login name for users).

What he used to do: is press the sleep button on the wireless keyboard, then after that press the hardware switch on/off button (not the reset button) on the tower of the hard box.

After pressing switch on/off button, he gets directly (pay attention to this) to the login screen where he can see the usernames for all users.

He has to do this procedure every time he would like to boot the desktop

Alienware 17 R4, brand new this week.
All drivers and software updated to most recent versions.
The issue i have is between Caps Lock, using the trackpad/touch pad cursor, and the arrow keys.
I did have the issue with the error message popping up regarding the Thunderbolt driver not being correct, but that has been fixed with a driver update.
Specifically, this happens to me playing World of Warcraft.
With the Caps Lock key enabled (light is on), I can use the trackpad to move the cursor around on the screen, while using the arrow keys to move my character around.  I don't seem to have an issue.
With the Caps Lock key disabled (light is off), while using the arrow keys, my cursor does not want to move, or sometimes is very intermittent in use.
Also, if i am pressing a key, say spamming the 1 key, the trackpad does not recognize any input form my touching it.  This is with the Num Lock key on or off.
I do not use a mouse, have gamed with the trackpad for 20 years now, no issues.  And this is my 3rd alienware laptop, and first time i have had this issue.
I have also adjusted all of the settings on the trackpad and mouse settings, turned gestures and zoom and other settings on and off individually and completely.
As this is really my main use for this computer, may be a deal breaker for me, as it is very frustrating to not be able to use the trackpad all the time.

I have a Gen 2 20A7 with a Gen 3 trackpad. Gen 2 X1 carbon had no buttons (terrible) trackpad so a Gen 3 trackpad was installed with the buttons. Issues are: Default windows 10 driver will recognise the 3 buttons and mouse trackpad - but NOT gestures. Installing synaptics driver will recognise mouse trackpad and gestures - but NOT the 3 buttons. So far ive had to pick between them. It's extremely annoying. I know heaps of people changed the trackpad over but I am not sure if they cared about gestures so maybe settled on a driver which only operated the buttons. I want to use AutoCAD so I 100% need the gestures for zooming in and out, but I also need the buttons in general. Every synaptics driver will disable the buttons. Default driver is not capable of handling gestures (pinch to zoom etc) as far as I can find. Touchpad Information in the Synaptics control panel shows:Synaptics Clickpad V1.1 on SMB boardDriver version: 19.3.4.202Firmware version 1.1Interface: SMBUsing windows 10 LTSB Anyone know of compatible drivers or how to enable gestures and buttons? Hi everyone,  I recently purchased a HP 15 ay041wm laptop at Walmart.  During the past few days, the left mouse button appears to have become loose and created a sort of double click when pressing the mouse button.  It looks like the keyboard, mouse and trackpad are all one piece.  Is it possible to purchase or receive a replacement keyboard to correct this issue?  Does anyone know if the replacement of the keyboard involves any soldering on the motherboard or does it connect via a removable cable?   Thanks in advance for your advice!

I prefer the click approach on the Apple Macbook Air, where you can click anywhere on the trackpad to get a normal (left) click.  On the Yoga 13, you can click anywhere EXCEPT the lower-right side of the button, where it instead registers a right-click.  Thta's kind of annoying because I have to be aware of where on the trackpad I can click and where I can't. Does anyone know of a way to turn off the right-click area and just make the entire trackpad a left-click? I have already turned off the tap-click ability, so I'm just talking about clicks where you press the surface of the trackpad down.

We've had a Thinkpad T530 for several years.  About a year ago, the trackpad's left button began acting like a right click instead of the left click it should be and always had been.  The right button still acts as a right click.  The left trackpoint button works fine as a left click, and I can still tap the trackpad to get a left click, but I'd still like the left trackpad button to work properly. Recently, the hard drive went bad, so I installed a new ssd and a fresh copy of Windows 10.  I was hoping that would fix the trackpad button issue, but it did not.  Today, I installed the ultranav driver, but that did not fix the issue, either. Any additional ideas?

Hello All,Hoping to find a solution to a VERY annoying issue. When I click the left mouse button UNDER the trackpad, it clicks once when I press it down, and once when I let the button back up. So clicking it once (up and down), effectively double-clicks. I have tried resetting trackpad to default and downloading latest drivers. Neither has fixed the issue. I first noticed the problem try to fold and unfold code in Visual Studio. I click the + box and it will expand then immediately collapse again cause it is being clicked again. Same issue with closing tabs in Chrome. I close the far left tab and it closes that tab and the next tab that fills the space. Very annoying. I otherwise love this machine but this problem is driving me crazy. Thankful for any help!-Mike

I have a Samsung R580 laptop and the trackpad button doesn't work quite right. The button is a single piece button. The right clicking works just fine, but when I try to left click, it doesn't always work. I'll have to press really hard to get it to work. This has only started the last couple of weeks. I know that I probably shouldn't, but I take a thin knife and stick it in the crack surrounding the button and slide it back and forth a few times. This seems to fix the button momentarily, but only for a few seconds. After which, it goes right back to hardly working. I have no idea of what's wrong. I can use a mouse, but it's much more convienient to use the trackpad button. I can also use the trackpad it's self to tap which will do the same thing as clicking the button, but I keep clicking things I don't want to. Any ideas ? I don't know that the keyboard being dirty is causing it, as every other button works perfectly.

I have this problem since day one, which was I think the end of December 2016. I have the latest synaptics driver, 19.3.4.83, I think. This is the button closest to the front edge farthest from the keyboard. When the mouse button fails to register, which happens around once out of 30 mouse clicks, I have found that when this occurs, every single time I move the cursor with either the trackpoint or the trackpad the click will take immediately effect. If I don't move the cursor the click never takes effect. Re-clicking the mouse button tends to also work.   I've searched the board and noticed that earlier versions of the driver caused multiple click events to fire from a single physical click.  Perhaps the driver update went to far in that direction. Anyone else experience this?   I installed a ssd drive onto which I installed a lenovo win10 64 image for my model and let the lenovo companion app update everything: apps, drivers and bios. Windows 10 is at version 1607 build 14393.1198.

Ok so here's the situation :

my friend's PC suddenly stopped working something like a month ago. He took it to some local computer repair shop who diagnosed a dead mobo and PSU.

They told him his mobo was now impossible to find and since I could get my hands on one fairly easily he asked me to repair it for him.

So basicly I changed his PSU and ordered a new INTEL D865GLC Socket 478 (his mobo)... I just received the damn thing and even with the brand new mobo the PC does the exact same **** :

I press the power button and absolutely nothing happens, nothing! Even the fans stay idle . What could be the cause? I even tried shorting the POWER SW pins with a screwdriver to make sure it wasn't the case Power Button but in vain.

I tried swapping mem sticks, changing PSU, tried removing HDD, DVD drive and GPU... no help there either.

Could it be a dead CPU?

I have a custom built computer, been working fine for two years. Comes last week, a storm passed by my house and power went out. When I come home from work I try to turn it on and no joy. I remember that I had 7 years warranty on my corsair AX1200i PSU. So I did a warranty claim, comes today and put new PSU and still no joy. Things I have tried are, re-seat the RAM also CPU, only 1 RAM. And no joy. When I press the power button theres nothing. No lights no leds. When I press the self test button several times, once in a while I see lights and fans working. I tried Memok on motherboard and no joy. One thing I did notice was when I remove the 4 pin CPU cable from PSU, the self test works instantly but the power button still doesnt work. Nothing, also did jumper on power l, reset CMOS. Could this be my CpU fried? Or the motherboard? I still need to take it out from case and check for capacitors etc..

Specs:3930k i7 CPU LGA 2011 6 core.
Asus x79 TUF motherboard.
G. Skill sniper ram 32GB{4x8Gb)

4TB storage drive

258Gb Samsung pro ssd

Corsair H100i Cooler.

I think ill just send in the mobo tor replacement since it has 5 years warranty. I hope its not my CPU...

Greetings. So I recently purchased a used Y50-70 and one of the first things I noticed about it was the left and right buttons on the touch pad require either a strong tap to register, or a long press (about 1 second) before Windows recognizes the key press. The trackpad works perfectly otherwise, even tapping for a left click on the pad itself works great. It doesn't feel like there is something under the button, but I do believe it is hardware related as this behavior persisted through a fresh install of Windows (ie. Windows install when I got the laptop and the reinstalled Windows). It was also present during the Windows install GUI which leads me to think it is hardware related somehow. Any ideas on what the problem could be? I thought this may be a common issue with a solution somehwere on the net but I have yet to find one... Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

For years this icon, called "scrolling icon", has appeared on the middle-button click on TrackPad buttons ? providing for a useful visual feedback:  For some reason, this has been removed on X1 Extreme Synaptics driver. Until November 2018 I have successfully managed to install Synaptics 19.3.4.201 on X1 Extreme so as to get a proper Control Panel management for Synaptics instead of an awkward Windows Universal App AND a scrolling icon working, too. This driver 19.3.x.x (not only 201, but all other consequitve version) has stopped working after certain BIOS and Synaptics Firmware upgrade: installing 19.3.x.x instead of 19.5.19.33 gives TrackPoint and TouchPad halt since November 2018. There is a registry key which allows to turn OFF the scrolling icon on drivers 19.3.x.x: https://superuser.com/questions/473325/disable-scrolling-icon . It does NOT help to turn it ON for 19.5.x.x. Any help on either getting the icon back or installing the 19.3.x.x drivers would be awesome. The latter would be more preferrable as I have trying out older drivers in a hope of getting rid of Trackpoint drift ? unsucessfully and only until they've broken 19.3.x.x drivers to work on X1 Extreme.

Yesterday I bought a "N150 Netgear Wireless Micro USB Adapter WNA1000M", to give it its full name. No, this is NOT an advert, the thing is very small but very irritating - just like the donkey in Shrek. So don't buy one unless you must. No, not an advert for Shrek either - the first one was good but the follow ups were crap.

When I came to install it, after a huge amount of CD drive thrashing (why? my CD reader not good enough for you punk?) it finally gave me 120 seconds to press a button on the router (it also has a tiny button on the thing itself so there are TWO buttons to press)

Some questions:

1. How was I supposed to press a button on the router in a hotel? Especially in 120 seconds. Like a scene in a movie - "we have a 120 seconds before this thing goes off". As it happened, the router in the holiday home we are renting in Montana was accessible and I pressed every button I could see and it flashed in annoyance but the internet connection was finally made. No, this is NOT an advert for Montana either - the snow is crap right now.

2. Why does it want me to press a button on the router? When I first turned on my laptop it didn't ask me to press no button!

Thanks in anticipation

PS You can buy waverings on Amazon. Only kidding, only kidding. And yes - I am irritated at being accused of placing an advert in my first post

Now what is this? Is there any problem with the power settings or the AC adapter? Abnormal electricity?
Can anyone help???

when i press this little button on my logitech keyboard with the cresnet half moon, it goes to sleep. What really happens? Do programs like kazaa cease to function/download the stuff that is downloading? anyone anyone beuler?

A:What happens when I press the sleep or standby mode button?

All programs cease to function, the computer enters a suspended state similar to "off" but with a faster recovery time.

Be aware that many applications simply do not like being suspended and may behave unreliably when resumed.

Its usually more reliable on laptops, which have been designed with this feature in mind.

My hp G62-144DX can't boot when I try to start with the power button. No lights bling anywhere within the laptop. When I plus in the AC adapter to the charging port, it lights up the white led, then turns to orange as a sign that it's charging.I tried to soft reset by removing the battery and unplugged other peripherals then long pressed the power button for about 30 seconds, plugged in the ac adapter then tried to boot my pc. All this never worked.Sometimes back, the laptop had the same problemonce or twice, and it starts working after some while like a day or two. I never knew what exactly the problem was. This time round, it can't boot yet for three days now and I can't figure out what the problem is. I'm just trying to guess its a motherboard issue but I have no any assurance on this. Please someone help me what might be the problem. I'll highly appreciate.
