Can't Find Integrated Camera on x220 in Windows 10 Pro

Q: Can't Find Integrated Camera on x220 in Windows 10 Pro

Dear Ladies and Gents,I've decided to buy my x220 company notebook, and make some upgrades on it. I installed the latest BIOS version. I bought a Transcend MSA370 mSATA SSD module, and replaced the integrated WWAN card with it. The concept was , that I keep the original 320GB hard drive for storage and install a Windows 10 Pro OS on the SSD card. So far so good, everything went fine, I had some issues setting up the hotkeys, but managed to do so. But then, I realized, that I can't make the integrated camera work. I pressed FN+F6, but no camera options showed, only audio and microphone settings. I checked the BIOS settings, the camera is enabled. I even tried to install the camera drivers for Windows 7 (no later version on support site), but it had no effect. Then I checked the Device Manager and saw that the camera does not even show up there (no "Imaging Devices" block, no wonder the driver install didn't do anything). I started googling and found some people who said they managed to solve this problem, but the solution had to do something with installing the OS on the original hard drive, and do some more magic, but to tell You the truth it wasn't so convincing, seemed like solution by lucky guesses. Does anyone have any idea about the source of the problem, and how to get the cam working? Or at least "seen" by the OS?thanks in advance,gábor

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Tried to use it yesterday and it does not appear anywhere on the computer. Tried the search programs and files box (nothing). I was able to get it going again by reinstalling the driver, but it's stopped again and the driver isn't even being recognized when I install it and restart my computer. Most of my troubles are similar to this person's only I know that my computer was shipped with a camera: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge-S-series/Help-with-an-E530-integrated-camera-that-can-t-be... When I open up web conferencing, it only gives me audio options and when I try to set it up with the device manager it only has the lexmark and xerox options.I tried to just f11 on startup and redo everything, but it gave me an error in doing that.

Were there any changes made before the camera stopped working?

Got a new Canon camera which uses its own program to download pictures to the computer (Gateway MX6930) running XP (sp3) and have had no problems. Tried to download some pics from my older Sony camera which used to bring up the Camera Wizard allowing me to title each shot with a name and number but that no longer happens. I plug in the Sony (USB cable) and nothing. It shows up on Explore and right clicking does not get me to the Scanner and Wizzard start-up screen that would allow me to select the photos I want and to name them as they are put on the hard drive. When I search through Scanners & Cameras and click on "Add an imaging device" the "Scanner & Camera Installation Wizzard" starts but Sony is not listed so I cannot select it. I can click on "Have Disk" but the CD that came with the Sony does not have the file it needs. The only thing on the CD (besides photo programs) is a USB driver which I did download but didn't help...... HOWEVER I have had MS Word refuse to start a week or so ago and I tried reinstalling but didn't work, I found an MS site that showed me how to repair the Word registry and that worked OK. This makes me suspect - maybe something has happened to the registry. I can't go there so I decided to ask for your help.... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...

A:Cannot find MS Scanner & Camera Wizard to download photos from camera

Either camera should show up in "My Computer" when connected via USB ...
Where you can explore the files and copy>paste (drag>drop) them to a folder in your computer.
Can you get your pics this way ????

Hi. Where can I change the property settings for an integrated camera? Specifically, where can I change the autofocus property?

I recently started using the camera built into my notebook (I don't have any other cameras). Sometimes the camera zooms in and out automatically. I'm told I can fix this by turning off autofocus. However, I can't find such a setting.

I opened Control Panel - View scanners and cameras. But that just gives me an empty window (see attachment). If I click "Scan Profiles", I get an error "No scanners were detected....". The Refresh button does nothing and the Add Device button is for adding a not-integrated device.

If I go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers, there is nothing camera related there. I don't know where else to look. Thanks for your help.

(Not sure if this is the right subforum. Sorry if it isn't.)

A:Turn off autofocus on integrated camera

The webcam settings should be available through a systray icon.
A right-click or double-click on that icon should lead you to video
settings where you would find an option to disable autofocus.

Typically, such settings would also be available thru the Start >
Programs menu.

My webcam recently started playing up and I've tried many supposedly 'solutions' and none have worked so far. I seen a post on here however and he had a similar problem and you guys managed to successfully help him but with a different Laptop and therefore different drives.

I pretty much only use my webcam for Skyping, and well, I need it.. and I don't want to fork out money for a USB webcam, since I HAVE ONE ON MY LAPTOP. So, here is the problem. It starts off when I realise it's stopped working and Skype tries to swap between the two options it has labelled under "webcam devices", these options are "HP Truevision" and "Cybercam webcam splitter". After I go into options to try change the webcam, which by the way it is still differentiating between the two, once every 2 seconds; windows also supplies me with audio telling me that this is happening and it happens to be the same noise which happens upon disconnecting and reconnecting my USB mouse. I have tried 'System Restore' multiple times, uninstalling both drivers and re-installing them, attempting to update the drivers (apparently they are), updated Skype and continuously searched the web to find a solution, alas... I have not . Also, in device manager, under the imaging devices tab, only a new driver shows up called 'SPCA2082', this shows up as the camera being on (notified by a little light beside the camera), but only shows a black screen. Hi,  This is the same problem that I was facing previously (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Lenovo-Y510P-Unsupported-for-Win-10-Camera-Driv...) and my PC just crashed (BSOD) as a result.  I've finally bought a USB webcam and no longer care about trying to make the integreated cam (built-in camera) work using some driver off the internet. Hi, I got a ThinkPad E460 running Windows10 Pro.  The integrated camera was working before but when I tried to use Skype for the first time in a few months this morning, video didn't show.  Then I ran the Camera app in Win10 and it gave me the error code 0xA00F4271(0x80070005) even though it was shown as "working" in Device Manager.  The camera still doesn't work after deleting it in Device Manager and letting Win10 reinstall by itself, updating the camera driver, checking the privacy settings, etc.  I don't know if this is related or not, but the integrated mic was missing in Device Manager before I found out that the camera was not working.  I updated the audio driver and the mic started working again. Is there anything else that I can do to fix the camera?  Thanks in advance!

Some AV Security software, such as Kapersky AV, will sometimes block the camera access, so check to see if yours has such a feature. Other thing to try is to completely remove the existing camera driver to see if it has become corrupted.   In windows, just uninstalling and reinstalling will not install a clean copy, unless you make sure to check the box during the uninstall to "Delete the driver software for this device".    If left unchecked, it will just reuse the existing driver, and if already the latest version, attempts to reinstall the same driver again will not always replace all files since they already exist. Also make sure to install all of the latest Chipset drivers, or better yet, run the Lenovo's ThinkVantage System Update (TVSU) and update all of the drivers to the latest version.      Sometimes it seems to find updates that fix issues that manually updating misses.. I would hold of on any BIOS updates except as a last resort, however, since they sometimes go bad, and when they do, they go really bad and can leave your system bricked.. ThinkVantage System Update (TVSU)https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht080136 Good Luck,
