Computer not recognizing Drawing Tablet

Q: Computer not recognizing Drawing Tablet

Ok, I'll try to keep this fairly short and understandable...

So I got a new computer thrown together, and upgrade from my last one, and everything has been working fairly well. Ran into a few problems here and there, as there can be with computers built from scratch, but there is this one thing that isn't making any sense to me.

I've been busy re-installing all of the programs that I like to use, like Photoshop CS2, and I am trying to install my Hanvon 5*6 drawing tablet.

Now, I thought everything would be fine and dandy, seeing as all my other USB ports were working just fine, considering that I was able to transfer files from a flash drive and portable hard drive, but when I plugged in my tablet, an annoying bubble keeps popping up over and over and over again saying that the "USB Device is not Recognized" and all this nonsense about the device has malfunctioned.

I know well that my tablet is working just fine, because I plugged it into my brother's computer and it found the tablet like it should and installed it and worked just fine after installing the drivers.... So, why should my computer not recognize the tablet ether?

In short, my computer refuses to recognize my tablet, but it can use other things, like portable hard drives, flash drives, and my keyboard, just fine without complaining, (Note that my tablet fine works on other computers) and I have the tablet drivers installed and everything.

Anyone have a solution to this problem?

My computer has Windows XP Professional, and should be updated all the way.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi Lenovo community, I just got a drawing tablet. It's a HUION Kamvas (like a Wacom Cintiq). It connects via USB for tablet functionality (perhaps the Kamvas output) and HDMI cable for the graphics screen function to turn on. I can't get the tablet to project the Yoga laptop screen or get a dual screen. In the settings under "display", I couldn't get the tablet to connect via Bluetooth, or in any other discoverable way. I can't fix this through the HUION driver settings or reinstalling it. I've called LENOVO customer support and they said in order for my tablet to work, it needs to be an external monitor. I think the tablet is an external monitor through an HDMI connection. The tablet buttons and pen work alright because of the USB connection, but I bought this for the 'drawing on the tablet screen experience". The pen that I have for the Yoga is alright for quick sketches and notes, but I need the buttons and HUION drawing functionality. All I need to know is if there is a way to get the HDMI to project onto my tablet. Any advice would be helpful since I've out exercised my creative tech support juices! If it's all for not, then oh well, I'll just try another tablet. Thanks!

Hello Guys,

I'm really conflicted here. and I can't seem to find any answers anywhere....

I don't know whether I should buy an official drawing tablet...or if I should buy this one Android tablet that I've wanted for a long time and just draw on that.

I'm thinking about the Samsung Galaxy Note . And it has some good drawing apps on it and the S pen would be nice... I just wanted to know if anyone else had experience with doing this, and if so, how do you like it?

Of course, I wouldn't use the Samsung tablet just for drawing...but I don't know if I'm willing to buy an actual drawing tablet...I don't know if I'm dedicated enough.

I heard that XP-Pen Deco Pro Drawing Tablet supports connection with Android 6.0 and above devices . Does anybody have experience with it .

Just...what do you think?

I have a fifteen inch XP-Pen Artist 15.6 ( I buy it from https://www.amazon.co.uk/Artist15-6-1920x1080-Graphics-Drawing-Battery-free/dp/B0785682VP ). I want to use it for drawing (love to draw people, nature, animals and sometimes abstract), graphic design and editing photos. I do want to have accuracy. I've read that small would be good because it all depends on the screen size in comparison to the actual tablet, but I've also read that you can get more accuracy with a slightly larger tablet. such as XP-Pen Artist22E ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/Artist22E-Graphic-Interactive-Shortcut-Adjustable/dp/B01M28DHOA )I don't mind moving my hand a bit for accuracy. I've called best buy and all they say I cannot test the tablet, but I can buy it and return it if its not to my liking.

I'd really like to test it out however to choose. I've used small tablets before and recall having to do some zooming in for nice detail on the 15 inch. I no longer have one and would like to find the best fit. I guess I could be leaning toward either whatever is truly the best fit for me. I want to create beautiful works of art and to eventually do it professionally.

Let me know what you think is the best solution in this case. Thank you so much!

Hello everybody, first of all i'm new in this forum and this is my first post and my english is not the best

I recently installed Vista ultimate x64 (previously i used xp sp2 ) because i upgraded to 4gb of ram and xp doesn't recognize more than 3gb of ram.

I'm a digital artist and i heavily use graphic tablet ( Genius MousePen 8x6 ) for drawing in Photoshop CS3. I found x64 drivers for the tablet and i installed them and everything appeared to be ok.

But when i draw for example a simple line, there is a delay to appear the line on screen. I mean delay in miliseconds, but is very annoying and it makes difficult to draw.

In XP this was not happens, the line appeared in real time.

I noticed when i plug the tablet that there is an annoying window called "Tablet PC Input Panel", this could be the problem ? If yes how do i disable it ?

Or perhaps a hardware problem ? my cpu is Core 2 Quad q6600.

Thanx in advance!

Hello there

I've recently ran into a really annoying and to me, worrying, situation in which plugging in my drawing tablet to the front USB sockets manages to freeze my PC. Right as I plug it in there's just no response whatsoever. I haven't had that issue before with the same tablet and as far as I know there weren't any driver updates to it (pretty sure I'd have to do that manually anyways). My PC specs are posted below, the tablet is a Huion H420. I thought the issue was with one specific USB port, as they have in the past sometimes (quite randomly I've felt) gotten "overloaded" or something like that, but trying others I just got the same issue and the crashes require hard resets, which I believe I've seen aren't good for the hardware's health, so I'd really like to resolve the issue. I'll gladly provide any info that's needed.

HELP! I have a really old tablet and a really new computer, and they aren't playing well together. I have a Windows 10 HP desktop computer and a Wacom GD-0912-R tablet with a Serial D9 to USB adapter I bought from Amazon. Everything seemed to be plugging in alright and the little light on the top of the tablet is on, but it won't work. It responds to the pen touching it, but nothing happens onscreen. The newest driver I can find is for Windows 7. Is there a trick to get it to work? PLEASE HELP!

A:Help! Windows 10 trouble with a reeeally old drawing tablet!

I think your out of luck on this one. That device was brought to market in 1998 (18yrs ago). There are no drivers for windows 10 and this device. The device is nolonger supported, which means no one will be creating a new device driver. Sorry time to recycle.

I have literally tried every single thing I can think of. I've had two computer technicians try different things, I've contacted Monoprice support, and nothing is working.

I recently (within the last week) bought a Monoprice MP1060-HA60 (PID 6814) graphics drawing tablet. The pressure sensitivity works but after an undetermined amount of time (can be anywhere from a few seconds to 10 minutes) the tablet stops controlling the mouse. The light on the tablet still lights up when the pen makes contact. I'm wondering if anyone else in the community has had this issue and found something that works?

I've tried the following:
- Installing the drivers from the CD. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
- Installing the drivers from the website. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times. There are two versions.

- Installing the Legacy drivers from the UC-Logic website (this worked for a few seconds before causing the tablet to freeze.) Uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
- Installing Photoshop CC 32-bit (since I run a 64-bit system.) Nope.
- Installed an older version of Photoshop (CS6). Works for a few minutes before stopping.

- Tried running Photoshop 64-bit and 32-bit both in compatibility mode with the tablet. Nope.
- Tried messing with all of the settings, nope.
- If I go into Brush Preferences > Shape Dynamics, there is an exclamation mark by the "pressure sensitivity" setting saying that Photoshop needs a pressure-sensitive tab... Read more

Hi there,

I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or not.
A friend of mine just got a new drawing tablet to replace her old one and she's having a problem now where if she opens a program to work with the tablet, for example Photoshop, the laptop will register the tablet as a mouse. Also Photoshop will sometimes crash on initializing. She has tried other art programs and the tablet is still acting as a mouse in those, so the Photoshop crash issue might not be related.

Sometimes the laptop will recognize the tablet properly, sometimes it won't. She tried reinstalling the tablet's drivers and it worked for a day or two and then started acting funny again. Even after a reboot or two.

Here's all the information I have:

She's using the tablet in the same usb port as the old one, she believes.
The new tablet is a Intuos 2 graphics tablet.
The old tablet I believe was also a Wacom much like the new one. (she still has the old one btw)
She's using a bamboo create pen on the new tablet.
She hasn't tried cleaning her registry yet.
She hasn't tried using the tablet in a different usb port.
Her laptop is an Acer Aspire AS7741Z-4815
All USB ports are reporting to be up to date and functioning fine.
We're thinking it's either the new tablet itself or the usb port it's in. I'm thinking it's not a physical connection issue because the laptop doesn't display a new connection message when the tablet starts ... Read more

I just this morning installed my drawing tablet on this computer and I got this error about 5 minutes into using it. That's the short story.

The long story, however, is that this is my 13th BSOD since I installed a new HD into this laptop and reinstalled the version of Win7 I had. The difference is that this BSOD is the first one I've got that's not a 7A error and that's actually created a dumpfile. It's something of a revelation for me, but it doesn't appear to be at all related to the BSODs I've been suffering to date. Basically, I don't think this means that my old BSODs will suddenly be making dumpfiles for me too. I am curious whether there might be something in the attached dumpfile zip that tells me more than just the basics of what caused this particular BSOD and might help explain my others. That's for someone who know what they're looking at to determine though. For now, it would be helpful to get a solution to this specific BSOD and then I can work on the BSODs that have been bothering me until now.

Here's a link to my original thread addressing all the BSODs I've suffered previously if that info is of interest to anyone and could perhaps help here...

I am having some problems with a computer at work. I am not the main user of this computer, but need it to be working. Initial symptoms were that Adobe Audition would not play nor record audio. This user isn't the most computer literate person so when strange problems crop up we reboot and if it's good we typically ignore it. It worked after a reboot. About an hour later it happened again. It was closing time so he just shut down the computer and said it was fine for me to look at it in the morning. In the morning our outsourced IT people took a look at it and said it had 3 trojans and remnants of some viruses. I do not know which trojans or viruses they found.

Later that day the same problem happened. Adobe Audition 1.5 wouldn't play audio the play and record buttons were actually greyed out. I took a look at Adobe Audition 3.0 and it had the same problem. I went to YouTube and no audio, though it looked to be playing. I took a look at the control panel and the sound settings said "No device configured". I took a look at the Device manager and the card and on board showed up there. We were using both the onboard RealTek HD audio and a Audigy 2 ZS card. A while back (6months or more) the Audigy card was giving us problems so we bypassed it and just used the onboard.

The IT tech uninstalled the drivers and then reinstalled them. That got Audition 3.0 to work constantly. We have not had a problem with Audition 3.0 since Thursday. Still we had the problem... Read more

I purchased two 4gb sticks of ram from Komputerbay on Ebay. They were cheap (36 for both) so I admit, they might just be crap (fortunantly they have a return policy).
Before I purchased the ram, I researched my computer specs, to see if it would even allow up to 8gbs upgrade and according to Crucial.com, it will.
The ram arrived in the mail today and I installed it. The first time, it wasn't connected properly and made a beeping noise. I took them out and made sure they were in all the way and secured them. This time it did not beep, it started up (I could hear the fan) but it didn't do anything else. It was a lit up black screen. So I took them out and installed one of my 1gb sticks and one of the 4gb sticks. Windows booted up and when I went into My Computer, it said Memory: 5.00 GB but when I went into task manager it said that I only had 725 MB available. So its recognizing the ram, but not using it. Its the right pin number and right type so its not as though I got the wrong kind.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ56-115DX laptop. This is the ram I purchased. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

A:Computer not recognizing ram.

Check on laptop Manufactures website for any update drivers and bios updates.....

Ebay is not the best place to get Ram from....if after updating and still having problems then I would send the memory back and use a better place to get memory from. It may cost a bit more but it will work.

Diskette Drive 1 failure
Secondary drive 0 seek failure
Secondary drive 1 seek failure

I have gone to the system BIOS and it says the device on these two drives are unknown. I have no idea how these two are supposed to be set up?
Next, I exit out and skip system bios and start windows back up and everything comes up fine. The problem is that I cannot access the cd rom drives. There is nothing even suggesting I have a cd rom in the device manager or my computer. When the computer starts up, the lights come both cd rom drives. I have opened up the case and there are no loose wires. Last month I was so frustrated that I but in xp boot disks into the a: drive and reformatted the computer. By doing this, I lost all my data, but the drives came back. Now I am back to square one!

I have heard that using a USB memory device can cause conflict, but that is all I know about that subject.

Would appreciate any help.

I recently replaced the CD/DVD optical drive in my Inspiron i14-3437-a40 with a new 240GB Kingston UV400 ssd drive in a caddy, but it's not being recognized at all by the computer. It does not appear neither in the BIOS nor in Device Manager/Disk Manager tools in Windows. The CD/DVD drive worked fine though, so I doubt it's an issue with the connector.  I have updated the SATA drivers and the BIOS using Dell's tool in the website, but apparently it was not a driver issue. What could be the reasons for this problem?

A:Computer not recognizing SSD in caddy

These devices are hit and miss -- you will need to check with the manufacturer of the caddy to see what they have to say.
In many cases, even if you can see the drive, you won't be able to use it as a boot device when it's mounted in the caddy.

My girlfriends computer recently crashed and now will not boot up. The boot.ini file is corrupt or missing. The other day she brought it to my house so I could fix it for her but now the computer does not recognize a monitor. The computer still turns on but the monitor just stays black. I installed this video card about 2 years ago and never had a problem with it. I've tried 3 different monitors. I've tried hooking a monitor up with the VGA port, DVI port as well as with the S video with no luck. I read in the forums that the video card could have come unseated so I checked and it is securely in place. Could the video card possibly have failed? Also can I hook up the monitor to the original built in video card even though I disabled it when I installed the new one?

A:Computer not recognizing monitor

Hello bigggj,

Could you post some specs for this computer? When you say the computer recently crashed, what exactly happened?

It sounds like the motherboard has on-board graphics. To fix the issue of that being disabled, you can reset CMOS. There should be a little jumper on the motherboard that you can use to do so. Generally it should be three small pins with a small plastic piece over the two leftmost pins. You reset the CMOS by moving that plastic piece to the rightmost two pins for about 10 seconds (first make sure to turn the PC off and disconnect the power cable!), then move the piece back to the two leftmost pins.

Once you've done that the BIOS settings will be back to their defaults, which includes the onboard graphics being enabled. So then you can connect the monitor to the onboard graphics and give it a spin.

Let us know if that works or if you need more help.

i downloaded itunes on a computer.. its really oldish. and the only kind of labeling of name i can find on it is "comtech" with "windows xp"

my circuit breaker started beeping while the download was in process, so i withstand the noise to wait until it is fully downloaded and while it was in its last step to restart the computer i press the off button on the circuit breaker turning everything off. when i turned the computer back on (circuit breaker was on too) the computer went the screen where it asks you to choose if you would like to be in "Safe Mode" or the other kind of safe modes or "the last configuration" "or normally start windows" with all of these options the same outcome occurs, after three seconds of loading a black screen will appear and we start off from the begining.

I was talking to someone on the phone and he said it looked like the computer wasn't recognizing the hardware.

i don't know what to do.

please please please help

A:my computer isn't recognizing its hardware i think

I recommend you disconnect any external devices such as printers, iPods, flash memory, network, modem, etc and try again. If that helps, reconnect each device one at a time and try a boot until the problem reoccurs. It that doesn't help, open the computer case and remove all add-in cards except video, of course. Turn it on again and see if that helps.

If it doesn't, you may just have to format and reinstall Windows again. Back up your data before you do that, though.

If it does help, insert one card at a time trying a boot after each card until the problem reoccurs. The last card inserted before the trouble reoccurs is the cause.

Let us know your result.

I just purchased a new computer about 3 monthes ago---so now its old and out dated. Anyway, it has a multi card reader built in it. It has never recognized when i put a sd card in it----i don't know about the xd or stick ones b'c i don't use them. I've called toshiba and they had me reinstall vista twice, which did nothing. And the latest was sending me to install the service pack for vista again and also going to support.microsoft.com/kb/939772
which tells me to install the service pack.
I'm pretty frustrated, anyone have any ideas on why the drive won't recognize any cards? I imagine it is an auto start up feature that just isn't working. or maybe i just have a defective card reader.
the computer is a toshiba satellite a205-s7468
thanks for any help.

A:New computer not recognizing sd cards

Have you had any proof your SD card isn't a fake one?

One of thing you can do is to boot up another operating system, like a Linux Live CD, and get a second opinion. Slax would be a nice one to download, burn the iso as an image in a CD, boot the CD up and check if the sd card mounted in the /mnt directory.

Another method of trying is to buy or borrow a card reader and try to see if the USB connection can detect your SD card from a normal card reader.

Lastly many Bios allow the user to disable the onboard peripherals. Have you checked to see if the onboard card reader has been accidentally disabled

At first I thought there was a problem with my ipod when the itunes or the updater would not recognize it even though it showed up on My Computer, but now I think there is a problem with my computer.

I tried plugging in my USB jump drive and it would not read either, even though it appeared on My Computer.

It does the same thing with CD's as well. I tried inserting an empty CD in the drive to burn songs but even though it appeared on My Computer, it would keep asking to insert a blank CD.

How do I fix this problem?

I installed the maximum 4GB of RAM into my Dimension months ago, been working fine, now I turn on the computer and it says system memory has changed, press f2 to run setup. I did so but the memory section says fields can't be changed, and when I run the computer now it says it has only 3GB of RAM.

A:Computer stopped recognizing RAM??

Your board probably only supports 3gb of RAM. Thats the issue.

Go to crucial.com, run a system scan and post the results here.

I have a Sony VIAO laptop computer and it is not recognizing any extra hardware. I tried my camera, which is my biggest problem, and then I tried a memory stick which also could not be found. I had recieved a Kodak for christmas from my parents and had returned it because it was not showing up on my computer, but it showed up on every other computer in the house. I thought it was weird, so I returned it and got an Olympus, and it once again is not working on my laptop and everyone elses. My laptop is running on Windows XP, I worked for hours the other day on this and my dad worked for hours yesterday to no avail. We just cannot figure out. We tried restoring the system (twice), installing 4 or 5 drivers, etc. I just don't know, it may be the USB ports, but I can't imagine all three of them being broken?

I was wondering if I bought a multi-media reader, would it solve this problem? My older camera appears in MY COMPUTER when I plug them in, and I know it's not he camera.

I appreciate any help I can get.

A:Computer not recognizing camera

Just a thought, you might want to disable your old cameras drivers in device manager

hi, im having problems on one of my computers as it does not recognize the router at all , and consequently cannot connect to the internet. Two other computers work on the network perfectly fine, and the PC in question did too until today where it suddenly stopped working.

Ive tried connecting to the 192. but it does not show up at all. Ive tried unplugging the ethernet, restarting the momdem / router / pc, renewing the IP, winsocket etc...

Im not sure what the problem is, since whenever I try to run ipconfig /all , it doesnt show the usual information - only says
'Windows IP configuration' . It does not show up on the dhcp client list either on the 192. so i believe there is a connection problem? :s

hi there,

my computer seems to have stopped recognizing my cd drives, including the cd burner. the icons are gone in the My Computer folder and Nero won't find them either.

anyone have any idea why this could be happening? or how to re-install either one? i don't have installation disks of any sort.

A:Computer not recognizing CD drives

Right-click on My Computer, go to properties -> hardware -> device manager. If there are any icons with 'X's through them right-click on them and click enable. If there are icons with '?'s through them right-click on them and click uninstall. Then try using the Add Hardware utility in your Control Panel.

i recently updated my computer and installed win xp. i have 4 usb ports total on my computer, 2 in the back and 2 on the side. the 2 usb ports on the back of the pc work fine however my computer isn't recognizing and reading the 2 on the side. they used to work fine but now they don't.

any suggestions?

thanks greg

A:computer not recognizing usb ports

Have you checked the internal cabling to it. Could just have dropped off / got snagged round something while doing an upgrade. Alternatively, check in your Device list, to see if there's anything shown up as baing unknown or disabled.

I have an Aspire TC-705 and when I put in my SSD HDD. (Which has a bootable Windows 10 partition on it) my ACER still says no boot device found.  When I check bios, although it reconizes the HDD in ACHI (I think that was the appreviation.) it does not recognize it as a boot HDD. My current HDD has Windows Boot Manager listed as the boot device instead of the HDD type when I have that connected instead. Any suggestions?

Go to Solution.

A:computer not recognizing new bootable HDS

you must be sure that your SSD has also the EFI partition to be able to boot as windows bootable manager on UEFI  BIOS.
