Computer not recognizing Drawing Tablet

Q: Computer not recognizing Drawing Tablet

Ok, I'll try to keep this fairly short and understandable...

So I got a new computer thrown together, and upgrade from my last one, and everything has been working fairly well. Ran into a few problems here and there, as there can be with computers built from scratch, but there is this one thing that isn't making any sense to me.

I've been busy re-installing all of the programs that I like to use, like Photoshop CS2, and I am trying to install my Hanvon 5*6 drawing tablet.

Now, I thought everything would be fine and dandy, seeing as all my other USB ports were working just fine, considering that I was able to transfer files from a flash drive and portable hard drive, but when I plugged in my tablet, an annoying bubble keeps popping up over and over and over again saying that the "USB Device is not Recognized" and all this nonsense about the device has malfunctioned.

I know well that my tablet is working just fine, because I plugged it into my brother's computer and it found the tablet like it should and installed it and worked just fine after installing the drivers.... So, why should my computer not recognize the tablet ether?

In short, my computer refuses to recognize my tablet, but it can use other things, like portable hard drives, flash drives, and my keyboard, just fine without complaining, (Note that my tablet fine works on other computers) and I have the tablet drivers installed and everything.

Anyone have a solution to this problem?

My computer has Windows XP Professional, and should be updated all the way.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi Lenovo community, I just got a drawing tablet. It's a HUION Kamvas (like a Wacom Cintiq). It connects via USB for tablet functionality (perhaps the Kamvas output) and HDMI cable for the graphics screen function to turn on. I can't get the tablet to project the Yoga laptop screen or get a dual screen. In the settings under "display", I couldn't get the tablet to connect via Bluetooth, or in any other discoverable way. I can't fix this through the HUION driver settings or reinstalling it. I've called LENOVO customer support and they said in order for my tablet to work, it needs to be an external monitor. I think the tablet is an external monitor through an HDMI connection. The tablet buttons and pen work alright because of the USB connection, but I bought this for the 'drawing on the tablet screen experience". The pen that I have for the Yoga is alright for quick sketches and notes, but I need the buttons and HUION drawing functionality. All I need to know is if there is a way to get the HDMI to project onto my tablet. Any advice would be helpful since I've out exercised my creative tech support juices! If it's all for not, then oh well, I'll just try another tablet. Thanks!

Hello Guys,

I'm really conflicted here. and I can't seem to find any answers anywhere....

I don't know whether I should buy an official drawing tablet...or if I should buy this one Android tablet that I've wanted for a long time and just draw on that.

I'm thinking about the Samsung Galaxy Note . And it has some good drawing apps on it and the S pen would be nice... I just wanted to know if anyone else had experience with doing this, and if so, how do you like it?

Of course, I wouldn't use the Samsung tablet just for drawing...but I don't know if I'm willing to buy an actual drawing tablet...I don't know if I'm dedicated enough.

I heard that XP-Pen Deco Pro Drawing Tablet supports connection with Android 6.0 and above devices . Does anybody have experience with it .

Just...what do you think?

Hello everybody, first of all i'm new in this forum and this is my first post and my english is not the best

I recently installed Vista ultimate x64 (previously i used xp sp2 ) because i upgraded to 4gb of ram and xp doesn't recognize more than 3gb of ram.

I'm a digital artist and i heavily use graphic tablet ( Genius MousePen 8x6 ) for drawing in Photoshop CS3. I found x64 drivers for the tablet and i installed them and everything appeared to be ok.

But when i draw for example a simple line, there is a delay to appear the line on screen. I mean delay in miliseconds, but is very annoying and it makes difficult to draw.

In XP this was not happens, the line appeared in real time.

I noticed when i plug the tablet that there is an annoying window called "Tablet PC Input Panel", this could be the problem ? If yes how do i disable it ?

Or perhaps a hardware problem ? my cpu is Core 2 Quad q6600.

Thanx in advance!

I have a fifteen inch XP-Pen Artist 15.6 ( I buy it from https://www.amazon.co.uk/Artist15-6-1920x1080-Graphics-Drawing-Battery-free/dp/B0785682VP ). I want to use it for drawing (love to draw people, nature, animals and sometimes abstract), graphic design and editing photos. I do want to have accuracy. I've read that small would be good because it all depends on the screen size in comparison to the actual tablet, but I've also read that you can get more accuracy with a slightly larger tablet. such as XP-Pen Artist22E ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/Artist22E-Graphic-Interactive-Shortcut-Adjustable/dp/B01M28DHOA )I don't mind moving my hand a bit for accuracy. I've called best buy and all they say I cannot test the tablet, but I can buy it and return it if its not to my liking.

I'd really like to test it out however to choose. I've used small tablets before and recall having to do some zooming in for nice detail on the 15 inch. I no longer have one and would like to find the best fit. I guess I could be leaning toward either whatever is truly the best fit for me. I want to create beautiful works of art and to eventually do it professionally.

Let me know what you think is the best solution in this case. Thank you so much!

Hello there

I've recently ran into a really annoying and to me, worrying, situation in which plugging in my drawing tablet to the front USB sockets manages to freeze my PC. Right as I plug it in there's just no response whatsoever. I haven't had that issue before with the same tablet and as far as I know there weren't any driver updates to it (pretty sure I'd have to do that manually anyways). My PC specs are posted below, the tablet is a Huion H420. I thought the issue was with one specific USB port, as they have in the past sometimes (quite randomly I've felt) gotten "overloaded" or something like that, but trying others I just got the same issue and the crashes require hard resets, which I believe I've seen aren't good for the hardware's health, so I'd really like to resolve the issue. I'll gladly provide any info that's needed.

HELP! I have a really old tablet and a really new computer, and they aren't playing well together. I have a Windows 10 HP desktop computer and a Wacom GD-0912-R tablet with a Serial D9 to USB adapter I bought from Amazon. Everything seemed to be plugging in alright and the little light on the top of the tablet is on, but it won't work. It responds to the pen touching it, but nothing happens onscreen. The newest driver I can find is for Windows 7. Is there a trick to get it to work? PLEASE HELP!

I think your out of luck on this one. That device was brought to market in 1998 (18yrs ago). There are no drivers for windows 10 and this device. The device is nolonger supported, which means no one will be creating a new device driver. Sorry time to recycle.

Hi there,

I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or not.
A friend of mine just got a new drawing tablet to replace her old one and she's having a problem now where if she opens a program to work with the tablet, for example Photoshop, the laptop will register the tablet as a mouse. Also Photoshop will sometimes crash on initializing. She has tried other art programs and the tablet is still acting as a mouse in those, so the Photoshop crash issue might not be related.

Sometimes the laptop will recognize the tablet properly, sometimes it won't. She tried reinstalling the tablet's drivers and it worked for a day or two and then started acting funny again. Even after a reboot or two.

Here's all the information I have:

She's using the tablet in the same usb port as the old one, she believes.
The new tablet is a Intuos 2 graphics tablet.
The old tablet I believe was also a Wacom much like the new one. (she still has the old one btw)
She's using a bamboo create pen on the new tablet.
She hasn't tried cleaning her registry yet.
She hasn't tried using the tablet in a different usb port.
Her laptop is an Acer Aspire AS7741Z-4815
All USB ports are reporting to be up to date and functioning fine.
We're thinking it's either the new tablet itself or the usb port it's in. I'm thinking it's not a physical connection issue because the laptop doesn't display a new connection message when the tablet starts ... Read more

I have literally tried every single thing I can think of. I've had two computer technicians try different things, I've contacted Monoprice support, and nothing is working.

I recently (within the last week) bought a Monoprice MP1060-HA60 (PID 6814) graphics drawing tablet. The pressure sensitivity works but after an undetermined amount of time (can be anywhere from a few seconds to 10 minutes) the tablet stops controlling the mouse. The light on the tablet still lights up when the pen makes contact. I'm wondering if anyone else in the community has had this issue and found something that works?

I've tried the following:
- Installing the drivers from the CD. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
- Installing the drivers from the website. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times. There are two versions.

- Installing the Legacy drivers from the UC-Logic website (this worked for a few seconds before causing the tablet to freeze.) Uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
- Installing Photoshop CC 32-bit (since I run a 64-bit system.) Nope.
- Installed an older version of Photoshop (CS6). Works for a few minutes before stopping.

- Tried running Photoshop 64-bit and 32-bit both in compatibility mode with the tablet. Nope.
- Tried messing with all of the settings, nope.
- If I go into Brush Preferences > Shape Dynamics, there is an exclamation mark by the "pressure sensitivity" setting saying that Photoshop needs a pressure-sensitive tab... Read more

I just this morning installed my drawing tablet on this computer and I got this error about 5 minutes into using it. That's the short story.

The long story, however, is that this is my 13th BSOD since I installed a new HD into this laptop and reinstalled the version of Win7 I had. The difference is that this BSOD is the first one I've got that's not a 7A error and that's actually created a dumpfile. It's something of a revelation for me, but it doesn't appear to be at all related to the BSODs I've been suffering to date. Basically, I don't think this means that my old BSODs will suddenly be making dumpfiles for me too. I am curious whether there might be something in the attached dumpfile zip that tells me more than just the basics of what caused this particular BSOD and might help explain my others. That's for someone who know what they're looking at to determine though. For now, it would be helpful to get a solution to this specific BSOD and then I can work on the BSODs that have been bothering me until now.

Here's a link to my original thread addressing all the BSODs I've suffered previously if that info is of interest to anyone and could perhaps help here...

I just bought a computer with following specs:AMD Ryzen 5 2500U radeon vega monile gfx, 8 GB RAM memory, 512 GB ssd hd. Its better specs than my older computer but for a new computer it feels very slow.I wanted to use the computer as a station for my drawings from my ipad, to sketch a bit and use it to watch tv and ordinary stuff But programs like sketchable, Krita , Corel painter or Affinity Designer is painfully slow, often 10-20 seconds of software process not responding or programs closing down. Sometimes the pen stops working and all processes goes slowmo Also downloaded some software on windows store that not even start. Twisted Brush pro for example. Or a program in windows store thats called "freehand painter".  They seem incompatible with the hardware and dont even start,   something i never experienced on my past computers. I have double RAM memory and double disc space compared to my 5 year old Dell with i3 and 128 gb harddrive.I thought the processor power is similar to i3, and more memory and disk space would make the Lenovo snappier. Of course i have upgraded drivers, and windows updates etc. But there was problem with old version of radeon drivers or something. Also problem with the computer having to be hard rebooted after energy saving mode or sleep mode. Support told me to do factory reset. But after the reset the computer is still sluggisg. I am having some problems with a computer at work. I am not the main user of this computer, but need it to be working. Initial symptoms were that Adobe Audition would not play nor record audio. This user isn't the most computer literate person so when strange problems crop up we reboot and if it's good we typically ignore it. It worked after a reboot. About an hour later it happened again. It was closing time so he just shut down the computer and said it was fine for me to look at it in the morning. In the morning our outsourced IT people took a look at it and said it had 3 trojans and remnants of some viruses. I do not know which trojans or viruses they found.

Later that day the same problem happened. Adobe Audition 1.5 wouldn't play audio the play and record buttons were actually greyed out. I took a look at Adobe Audition 3.0 and it had the same problem. I went to YouTube and no audio, though it looked to be playing. I took a look at the control panel and the sound settings said "No device configured". I took a look at the Device manager and the card and on board showed up there. We were using both the onboard RealTek HD audio and a Audigy 2 ZS card. A while back (6months or more) the Audigy card was giving us problems so we bypassed it and just used the onboard.

The IT tech uninstalled the drivers and then reinstalled them. That got Audition 3.0 to work constantly. We have not had a problem with Audition 3.0 since Thursday. Still we had the problem... Read more

I have a DeLL Demension 8100 that I purchased back in 2001. I upgraded it from windows ME to XP Home. I also installed a Phillips CDR-RW a few years back as well.
The problem is that my computer just stopped recognizing the cd rom drives about a month ago. When I start up the computer, I get a message that says:
Diskette Drive 1 failure
Secondary drive 0 seek failure
Secondary drive 1 seek failure

I have gone to the system BIOS and it says the device on these two drives are unknown. I have no idea how these two are supposed to be set up?
Next, I exit out and skip system bios and start windows back up and everything comes up fine. The problem is that I cannot access the cd rom drives. There is nothing even suggesting I have a cd rom in the device manager or my computer. When the computer starts up, the lights come both cd rom drives. I have opened up the case and there are no loose wires. Last month I was so frustrated that I but in xp boot disks into the a: drive and reformatted the computer. By doing this, I lost all my data, but the drives came back. Now I am back to square one!

I have heard that using a USB memory device can cause conflict, but that is all I know about that subject.

Would appreciate any help.

I purchased two 4gb sticks of ram from Komputerbay on Ebay. They were cheap (36 for both) so I admit, they might just be crap (fortunantly they have a return policy).
Before I purchased the ram, I researched my computer specs, to see if it would even allow up to 8gbs upgrade and according to Crucial.com, it will.
The ram arrived in the mail today and I installed it. The first time, it wasn't connected properly and made a beeping noise. I took them out and made sure they were in all the way and secured them. This time it did not beep, it started up (I could hear the fan) but it didn't do anything else. It was a lit up black screen. So I took them out and installed one of my 1gb sticks and one of the 4gb sticks. Windows booted up and when I went into My Computer, it said Memory: 5.00 GB but when I went into task manager it said that I only had 725 MB available. So its recognizing the ram, but not using it. Its the right pin number and right type so its not as though I got the wrong kind.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ56-115DX laptop. This is the ram I purchased. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Check on laptop Manufactures website for any update drivers and bios updates.....

Ebay is not the best place to get Ram from....if after updating and still having problems then I would send the memory back and use a better place to get memory from. It may cost a bit more but it will work.

Have you checked the internal cabling to it. Could just have dropped off / got snagged round something while doing an upgrade. Alternatively, check in your Device list, to see if there's anything shown up as baing unknown or disabled.

I previously was able to transfer audiobooks from my computer to my phone via usb cable.

Recently, the computer stopped recognizing the phone.

The computer is a Lenovo Ideapad 100 with Windows 10. The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S5.

Now when I go to Printers and Devices, I see the phone listed under devices, but it is "greyed out" and I can not open it.

I did install a shortcut on the desktop, but the phone also will not open from the shortcut.

Can you please tell remedy this?

It is truly a hardship to not have new audiobooks on the phone!

Depends on how you were doing it before ? using Samsung's phone manager or by copying files from one drive to another.

If it's file copying, the next time you connect your phone, swipe the notification bar and see if there is an option to choose MTP/Media or Mass storage option and you would get a couple of beeps and see if you're able to see your device.

I think if you did plug in a regular keyboard, it should work and then once you have to OS up and running it will recognize it automatically, my Emachine does the same thing.

I have a Sony VIAO laptop computer and it is not recognizing any extra hardware. I tried my camera, which is my biggest problem, and then I tried a memory stick which also could not be found. I had recieved a Kodak for christmas from my parents and had returned it because it was not showing up on my computer, but it showed up on every other computer in the house. I thought it was weird, so I returned it and got an Olympus, and it once again is not working on my laptop and everyone elses. My laptop is running on Windows XP, I worked for hours the other day on this and my dad worked for hours yesterday to no avail. We just cannot figure out. We tried restoring the system (twice), installing 4 or 5 drivers, etc. I just don't know, it may be the USB ports, but I can't imagine all three of them being broken?

I was wondering if I bought a multi-media reader, would it solve this problem? My older camera appears in MY COMPUTER when I plug them in, and I know it's not he camera.

I appreciate any help I can get.

Just a thought, you might want to disable your old cameras drivers in device manager

At first I thought there was a problem with my ipod when the itunes or the updater would not recognize it even though it showed up on My Computer, but now I think there is a problem with my computer.

I tried plugging in my USB jump drive and it would not read either, even though it appeared on My Computer.

It does the same thing with CD's as well. I tried inserting an empty CD in the drive to burn songs but even though it appeared on My Computer, it would keep asking to insert a blank CD.

How do I fix this problem?

thanks for the help.

Right-click on My Computer, go to properties -> hardware -> device manager. If there are any icons with 'X's through them right-click on them and click enable. If there are icons with '?'s through them right-click on them and click uninstall. Then try using the Add Hardware utility in your Control Panel.

Thank you all for reading my post, I just got back from the hospital, yay! Anyway the problem is that I have 3 GB of RAM in my computer, but the video card allocates (hogs) 128 MB of my RAM which is fine with me, because I need the good performance. I've been running Ubuntu Linux for a while and recently got windows xp for my computer and installed windows xp on my internal disk drive and I checked the system info and checked the RAM and it reported 2.87 GB of RAM, and I totally freaked out(cause in Linux it reported 2.872 GB of RAM and that's totally normal and I understand that) now I'm so confused as to why it says "2.87 GB of RAM" It should say "2.872 GB of RAM" but it doesn't. Is there a reason why it doesn't recognize that part of the RAM or does it recognize it but just drop the "2" in "2.872 GB of RAM"??? It's either it's missing the 2, or it seriously only recognizes 2.87 GB of RAM but im not sure what the heck is going on! Somebody please hold me, I'm seriously getting upset over this. Maybe somebody could help me with this? I'm not sure if it's a Windows thing or what.. but I'd apreciate some help with this .

I have a CanoScan N670U scanner which my computer is not recognizing regardless of what I do. I have tried all the regular stuff (uninstalling and reinstalling the driver etc.), but with no success. Can anyone help? The scanner is plugged into the computer through a PCMCI USB2 card.

Many thanks!

A:My computer is not recognizing a scanner! Please help!!!

Probably needs to be plugged in directly into a motherboard USB port.
Update the USB2 crad drivers if you can.
Check in Device Manager if USB is properly installed.

Hi guys.. I just hooked up my computer to my 26" lcd television.. My goal was to have the same thing showing on my television and my 19" viewsonic computer monitor..

Now i know that sometimes windows should recognize the device, I've been on computers where the second device is shown in display and you can select which's resolution to edit and stuff.. This however was not the case.. It didnt recognize the second monitor.. So i opened up my nvidia control panel for my nvidia geforce 7950gt to check it out.. I got it working BUT.. a few problems

1) i have it perfectly adjusted to my television but i havent found any way to set 2 different resolutions.. I want my square monitor to show everything but at the same time my lcd wide screen television.. Right now my computer monitor is only showing a tiny fraction of the desktop while the tv is showing it all...

2) Sometimes the screen on the lcd television goes a little shaky and a line runs up through the middle.. kind of like before i set the proper refresh rate on my pc monitor..

Does anyone know how i can edit the settings to these devices individually, this is extremely frustrating..

Please help

You can download the NVIDIA Display Properties Users Guide, from their downloads page. It has all that sort of info.

What was the fix that worked for a short time?

Is the drive recognized in the BIOS?
Is the drive recognized in Windows?
What is the drive status in Device Manager (If Windows recognizes the drive)?

Uninstall the drive in Device Manager and reboot (if Windows recognizes the drive).

I have an Olympus Stylus 840 camera, and an Olympus xD 2GB picture card. I never had a problem with the card before, but I took some pictures the other day, and tried to upload them with a USB on the computer. Before I attempted to upload them, they were normal sized on my camera. Once I tried to upload them, my computer would only recognize some older pictures but none of my new ones. Then, when I put the card back in my camera and view the pictures, they showed up very small and wouldn't let me edit them or do anything with them! Let me know if you can help! Thank you so much!

A:Computer not recognizing pictures

Try a different app, like Window Pic and Fax, or Picasa.
Find this drive in My Computer and upload from there.

I had to reinstall Windows yesterday to correct some issue I was having, thus deleting the old Windows directory. When I reloaded Windows, I reinstalled all my drivers and whatnot, but now I'm unable to play any games. Whenever I try to launch a game, the screen flickers a few times (as if it's changing the resolution a bunch of times), then the game closes. With World of Warcraft, I get an error saying "World of Warcraft was unable to start up 3D acceleration. Please make sure DirectX 9.0c is installed and your video drivers are up-to-date." (no game works, but thus far WoW is the only game to actually give me that specific error message, other games just close).

As I said I DID definitely download the latest drivers for my video card (ATI Radeon X1650) and I also downloaded DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft's website. I tried uninstalling my video driver entirely and reinstalling it and that didn't work either. Anyone have any ideas?

A:Computer not recognizing DirectX?

Everything was working fine until I tried to print something. I got a message that the device (printer) was not recognized and to click on the balloon. The I got the message that none of my USB ports were recognized. How can this just all-of-a-sudden happen? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my printer but the problem seems to be with the USB ports themselves. When I check in Device Manager I am told that all the ports are working properly. However, none of the ports are recognized and just a couple of days ago, everything worked fine. I have no idea of what to do and any help will be greatly appreciated!

A:Computer not recognizing any USB ports...

This could be a power supply problem
