Q: T410 Windows 10 On screen indicators and Fn-FX fun...

Hello community. I upgraded my T410 from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Subsequently, several Fn-FX functions like Fn-F3 were no longer accessible. Fn-F5 did work, though. So I installed the T410 Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 8 (3.89.0100) in Windows 8 compatibility mode, on screen display driver version 6.73.01. As a consequence, all Fn-FX functions and the on screen indicators for Num lock/Caps lock etc. are not available anymore. I really would like to restore functionality for a least Fn-F5 and the OSD indicators, any help appreciated!T.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I am in need of help. I have tried everything possible to fix this issue, but I still have not found any solution yet. I have asked Microsoft and Acer, and they both couldn't help me with this simple little issue that probably will not take 30 minutes to fix. When my caps lock key, number lock key, or when I am adjusting my screen brightness or volume, a little box would show up to tell me. All of a sudden, they have just stopped. Can someone please tell me how to get the indicators of the boxes to start working again with some easy simple steps on how to do it. Please!

A while ago I lost everything on my laptop so I had to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium 64. Now all the on screen indicators (Caps Lock, volume change or mute, num lock and others) are gone but they still work though. Is there a program to make these show up? Doesn't matter if it's the same as what I had originally, as long as I can get some version of it on my laptop.

I'm not sure if this is related, but when I have multiple displays, I can't use my fn and windows display thing to change between the different settings. All the other fn keys that I use regularly (the volume, display brightness) still work though.

I have an Acer Aspire 7551g.

Have just done the latest Windows 10 1803 update on my T410 (Intel Graphics), and the screen brightness is stuck at maximum.  The Fn + Home/End keys bring up the on-screen widget, but it has no effect.  Similarly the brightness slider in the settings panel has no effect.  Looked at the Intel driver 8.15.10.2900 in device manager, tried the update driver button, but no updates available. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Hi, my Lenovo T410 laptop won't start. I hit the power button and it looks like it's about to boot up. The thinklight blinks on as normal, the cd drive is checked, the caps lock button blinks on, then nothing. No display, and keyboard is unresponsive. Power light remains on; if I leave it a while the fan comes on. I can turn the machine off using the power button, but the problem remains next time I switch it on. I've tried removing power and battery, pressing power button 10 times then holding power for 30 secs, before replacing power and battery, but nothing happens. I've tried using a different keyboard. I've tried plugging in an external monitor. No change.  This problem appeared after I left it on overnight. I have a hunch that it went into hybernation mode, perhaps, and that it disrupted some important function which it was unable to complete. Not sure though. Any help gratefully received. Many thanks,Pete

Hey everyone, I am facing some problems with my Lenovo Thinkpad T410. The screen acted as seen in the attached photo. I disassembled the laptop following the service manual, took out the LCD screen out of the cover, connected the screen again and it was acting the same, but system etc. started normally. I ordered a new screen on eBay and put aside the disassembled laptop waiting for the part to arrive. When it arrived, I connected the old screen just to check if the computer itself is still fine and there's where problems have begun. When I start the laptop, the cooling fan runs for a few seconds, then stops for 10s and starts to run again at high rpm. The screen doesn't work. The same is for the new screen. External screen connected via VGA doesn't find the signal. What's wrong, what to do?

Hi,I have a Thinkpad T410 that was delivered with Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. But for using the notebook with 8 GB RAM I need to have 64-bit version. On the COA under the battery it says Windows 7 Pro OA but nothing about 32-bit or 64-bit. Does it mean that I can use a 64-bit installation?

Yes, under Microsoft's licensing, you can use the same Windows 7 Product ID to install either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7 on your system, but you cannot upgrade from 32 to 64-bit, so it will have to be a fresh installation. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/is-a-windows-7-license-k... Cheers,

I have a T410,   ID  2522-22U. I upgraded to windows 10 with seeming success. My display adapter is Intel HD Graphics and works well. My question is: the Windows 10 that installed is 32-bit but I have an x64 based processor. The 32-bit OS will not utilize 8GB RAM but the T410 will take it. I am wondering what drivers might be affected by upgrading to 64-bit.
Reading this article, "How to upgrade from a 32-bit to 64-bit version of Windows 10" (https://www.windowscentral.com/how-upgrade-32-bit-64-bit-version-windows-10), I downloaded Sysinternals' program CoreInfo to check the four values this article says must be in place. All are good.
I haven't found on the Lenovo site yet information about T410 driver options. It seems almost that the T410 is all but erased. There should at least be historical information and links.
My printer driver can update.
I will be looking into specific compents like the Intel HD Graphics.
What Lenovo-specific drivers might there be to upgrade and where are they? I would expect this would not be a problem as this T410 was built with an x64 processor.
All knowledge and experience welcome!
Thanks

Good day.

The T410 is considered to be End-of-Life, therefore drivers and documentation available from Lenovo has moved to the EoL support site at: https://download.lenovo.com/eol/

Not a techie.  Can't get straight answer ANYWHERE.  New laptops tend to NOT have indicators on the keys.  Hoping Windows 10 has indicators that can be turned on and PROBABLY would show up in the tray at the bottom right of the screen.
I have heard of sites where such things can be downloaded but again NOT a techie, so I hesitate to go outside of Windows/Microsoft for downloads.  I do not know what download sites are safe or spoofs.

Please plain English ... i.e. go to settings etc.  Or just give me a Microsoft approved site for download.

Good afternoon all, While I have researched the heck out of this issue I have not been able to come up with anything useful. I have been having this ongoing problem with my Lenovo T410 laptop and the battery charging above 74%. Sometimes the charging light will turn amber, sometimes it will stay green with a random quick flash here and there. I'm trying to determine for a fact if the battery I have is not functioning, or if it's something else causing it. Below are the steps I've taken to troubleshoot. Completely discharged battery and recharged with laptop off.Reseated battery, and attempted to remove dust from battery connection port.Checked Windows 10 registry for settings regarding charging actions at certain percentages.(This was initially upgraded to Win 10) - Fully remove Lenovo Power Manager from machine.Verify using HWInfo64 that it appears the battery health is good (can provide image if requested)Completely reformatted and fresh installed Windows 10There may be a step or two I have forgotten, but if someone asks I'll let you know if I did it or not. I would love to get this fixed as the laptop serves my purposes other than having a fully charged battery. If there's a surefire way to know factually if it's the battery, then I'll go ahead and replace it.Thanks all!!!

A:T410 (Windows 10) - Battery Not Charging Above 74%

Have you tried recalibrating the battery? Open Lenovo Power Manager -> switch to advanced -> Battery -> Battery Maintenance -> Perform Reset. It will take a lot of time to complete, don't remove AC power while this is running. Let it run while you are sleeping or something similar so that you won't have to interrupt the process.

I upgraded my Lenovo T410 to Windows 10 Pro yesterday and now want to turn on the Hyper-V feature. However, the Hyper-V Hypervisor checkbox in the Windows Features remains greyed out. When I try to enable it, Windows says, "Hyper-V cannot be installed: Virtualization support is disabled in the firmware."  I assume this is refering to the BIOS settings. However, in the BIOS (in the Config:CPU section)  I have enabled the only two settings related to virtualization:Intel Virtualization Technology: EnabledIntel VT-d Feature: Enabled I ran sysinternals coreinfo which reports:HYPERVISOR -  Hypervisor is presentVMX                 *  Supports Intel hardware-assisted virtualizationEPT                  *  Supports Intel Extended Page Tables (SLAT) I am interpreting this to mean that everything is good from the BIOS/chip perspective and that the Hypervisor is simply not installed. The T410 is equipped with the following:Latest BIOS (v1.45) for the T410.Intel iCore 5 M540 cpu4GB RAMIs anyone else having trouble getting Hyper-V to install on Windows 10 Pro/Enterprise? Is there any command line tool that I can use to tell Windows so that it realizes that the chipset supports virtualization? thanks

I have a T410 with Windows 7 Professional which Microsoft invited to upgrade to Win 10. In "preparing" the computer for Win 10 a message indicated that some functions would not work. I did not realize that in taking the next step (whateve that was at the time) it would gto ahead with the upgrade. I found that the offer to choose "when" to upgrade was a choice of three different pre-assigned days. I had to turn off the computer to stop the upgrade, there was no other way (I tried Task Manager, Process Explorer, Alt F4, etc.). Now it is just reserved and waiting. My concerns are:      -will an upgrade result in a Windows 10 "Professional"? or will distinctions between "Home" and "Profesional" be lost?     -the preparation process indicated that Intel PROSet/ Wireless would have to be re-installed. As best as I can understand from the Intel site the wireless adaptor | Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN | in the T410 is not supported in Win 10. The Intel site said to go to the manufacturer. Will Lenovo have an update for this?     -Intel PROSet/Wireless may not be critical to me but a wireless driver will be. Will the T410 wireless function still function? Has anyone had experience with the T410 moving to Win 10? Thanks.

Welcome Gigglez

1. Is your T410 comes with only Intel GPU or both Intel / NVIDIA Optimus?

2. Is your existing drivers installed automatically by Windows or is it downloaded and installed from Lenovo Support?3. You could download and install a newer version of Intel HD Drivers*. Download and install NVIDIA driver also if it comes with it.*As T410 is already more than 5 years old, Intel and Lenovo may not provide supports and newer drivers to match newer version of Windows. If this 3 steps does not resolve your problem, you may have to revert your T410 to Windows 7.

Hi Guys
I have an academic question.I'm running a Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop with a D-Link 655 router (N). If I hover over the utility icon in the "notification area" by the clock, I'll get indications of speeds for example that are usually 130Mbps but vary at times for some unknown reasons down to 50Mbps or so.If I open the utility & view the "link status" it usually agrees with that number but if I look at the "site monitor", it might indicate 270.Does anyone know what all these numbers mean? & I don't mean generically! I would like to know just what the heck they are measuring. if any of it's meaniful or not.Just curious is all.
Ben

A:speed indicators

Those numbers are the bit rate of the current connection. The "site monitor" appears to be telling you the maximum connection rate possible for the 802.11n AP that it's showing you, the variable rate is the current actual connection rate. These are in megabits/second.

Any help and info would be great. Ide like to try and reduce the cpu on the Benq obviously as well as the ram on both machines.

Both machine are quite fresh, not really loaded with software. Running N360 on both machines.

Look forward to some help and ideas.

thank you.

can you tell us how much ram you have on both systems and what cpu's your running too?

for the benq you might want to look at what apps are running to take up that much of your cpu at idle as well as the ram. in task manager

for your dragon same thing and are you running dream scene? that chews ram with that on my ram hovers at 50% off it goes to around 30%

1. I have no idea how to do or if it is possible.

2. If I am understanding you, you want Outlook to run as a small icon in the system tray next to the clock. This can be accomplished through third party software.

I have not ever used this program, but here is one I have heard about that is supposed to be able to do that.

Hello, After upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 on Lenovo T410, when I try to use the camera I get the message on Windows Camera app: We can't find your camera - Error code: 0xA00F4244(0xC00DABED). Also no other application (Skype, Yahoo, etc) can't find the camera, despite the fact that this is available without any error in Imaging Devices - Integrated Camera. What I tried by now:  - Stopped antivirus and firewall to exclude any possible blockage on that side - Uninstall/reinstall the driver in Device Manager (I downloaded the driver for Win10 from Lenovo Support site) - Run Windows Troubleshooter (no issue found) - uninstall Windows Camera app (WindowsPowershell) and reinstall it from the Store - checked all the camera settings and privacy settings (Settings-Privacy-Camera + Other Devices) - System scan (sfc /scannow). Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. - Latest Windows updates are installed Is there any compatibility issue between T410 and Windows 10? Can you help with any idea? I'm out of ideas. Please help!  P.S. After upgrade I also had issues with the microphone, but after I applied some fixes described here, I fixed it

My sister dropped her T410 and cracked the LCD screen, which clearly was not covered under the basic warranty.  The $950 quote for repair was a little steep (basically the cost of the laptop) so we decided to try a repair ourselves.  I replaced the LCD screen with a model suggested by the Lenovo rep.  With the new screen in place, the backlight doesn't function at all (can see information on the screen with a flashlight but otherwise nothing).  I also put the old screen back in (which previously was backlit despite being cracked) and observed the same problem.  I made sure the LCD cable was seated firmly at both ends. Considering things as they stand now, my question is about the best route to take from here.  As I understand it, since the LED backlight is powered by the system board, we either buy a new system board or use this laptop as a "desktop" attached to a standalone monitor.  Replacing the LED sub card seems questionable for this particular problem (saw another post here with that conclusion).  We could replace the LCD cable, but it seems to me more likely that the fuse on the motherboard is blown.  If it comes down to motherboard vs. desktop use, we'll probably avoid the motherboard replacement since it is somewhat expensive. Am I missing any obvious ideas?  Should I consider replacing the LCD cable more seriously?  Is the LED sub card more relevant to the LCD/backlight than I think?  I'm hoping t... spencerkellis wrote:Is the LED sub card more relevant to the LCD/backlight than I think?Yes, the backlight is LED. What else would that card be for? You should also make sure that the cable to that card is seated all the way, from what you describe it sounds like it came loose. http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-72786.html

Users will be able to skip some certificate error warnings

Mozilla is constantly working on improving its product, and in Firefox 44, along with the planned deprecation of the RC4 cipher, the company is also overhauling its SSL error pages.

Added in Firefox 33, these pages were used to signal users of a failed SSL connection attempt, one that might have put their personal data at risk.

While useful in some cases, the error pages also prevented users from accessing some URLs, which they were sure were secure, and not harboring any attacks.

These were the cases with old router configuration pages or websites that implemented insecure cryptography practices, which weren't updated to the latest standards and sometimes weren't even accessible to external connections.

Firefox's built-in error page prevented users from accessing these pages altogether, and many were forced to use browsers like Chrome, Safari, or IE, which, despite showing the same warning message, enabled them to skip it and access the site, regardless.

I recently purchased a lenovo y50 but the LEDs for the status indicators didn't work at all since I bought it. I used the laptop for a couple of days and every thing seems to be working fine except the LEDs, is there any solution for this problem? Thank you!

A:LED STATUS INDICATORS NOT WORKING (LENOVO Y50)

Welcome to the Forums Raven!

Sorry for delayed response.

These indicators should be hardwired to the motherboard, a connector cable could be loose or damaged. Or, if your machine(s) are still in warranty, send them for repair. As per my knowledge, LCD cable is the culprit. Hence please visit the Lenovo service for better hardware assistance.

Let us know if it helps.
