Laptop shuts down on some games

Q: Laptop shuts down on some games

I have a VPCF11Z1E vaio laptop with those

specifications. So far i have only changed my hard drive from 500GB to 640GB. Now my problem is that when i play some games (not all of them) it randomly does a hard shut down (no BSOD). Usually i have problems with games older than 2012-2013. With newer games it runs just fine. So far i have made sure it doesnt raise temperature above 80C no matter what(it may sound high, but when it was new it worked at 90+C even after sony had serviced it). Its cleaned regularly, i have changed thermal paste and i monitor temp. I also have given it to two different technicians to see if the spot any problem. The first one looked at RAM, CPU, VGA and said everything was working perfectly and the second looked those plus motherboard (with a small usb device) and HD and only found some bad clusters on the drive. The first guys guess was the motherboard must have some issue, the second guys that there is a slight chance the HD has a problem. A month ago it started having the same prob while watching videos (on and offline) and it was corrected by a system recovery, the prob with the games is still there though. Also when i first install a game it might go fine for more than an hour, and then the more times i play it will shut down sooner and sooner. Besides any ideas of what might be wrong is there a chance its a compatibility issue? (i have tried compatibility settings but with no result) Or some other kind of software issue?

Sorry for the long post.

Preferred Solution: Laptop shuts down on some games

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This might be weird but when I bend the lid of my latop screen or try to move my laptop, my laptop suddenly turns off without warning then restarts (sometimes it doesn't), this also happen when i play heavy load games like rise of the tomb raider, after 5-10 mins. in the game my laptop turns off. During a light load activities like browsing or watching videos it works fine, I've tried cpu and gpu benchmarking it also works fine, so its not heat problem. I thinks it's motherboard problem but im not sure. I've tried these:
removing the battery and  holding the power button for 30 secs.
running the diagnostic (It says the system's fine).
booting in safe mode.
My laptop is an dell inspiron 15 7566. I just bought it last month. What do you guys think?

Recently when I have tried to play games on my Laptop, my screen will turn black, but I can still hear the game in the background. I also hear a sound like I'm getting a notification but I can never see what it is because the display crashes. Then a few seconds later, the sound cuts out, my laptop beeps loudly about 16-22 times, and then it shuts off. I have updated all of my drivers, so I don't think that is the problem. I also blew out the dust out of my laptop, replaced the thermal paste, and bought a cooling pad, and my temperatures have been fine since then. I ran a memory diagnostics with the tool windows has for that, and it didn't find any issues with the RAM. I don't know what could be going on! I am running Windows 10 on my laptop. My laptop is a Clevo P150HMx, with an intel core i7 2630QM, and my graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 675M. All of my games used to run fine, but now I can hardly even get into a game without this happening. I'm not very tech savvy and I could use any help anyone has to offer! Thank you!

A:Laptop display crashes when playing games, then computer beeps loudly and shuts off

Ensure Windows is fully patched. Assuming the laptop officially supports Win10, ensure you are using the latest drivers available from the laptop manufacturer. Check Windows Event Viewer for any errors noted at the time of one of the crashes.

I'm not to sure whats going on but I've been reading stuff on google and i think it wouldbe my power supply thats making my games shut off my computer. My computer can stay on for hours with no problems until I get into a game (Stronghold 2) another thing I guess I could add would be that the power supply is like $30 and has tiny Heatsinks. I was wondering if this is it or could it be a heating problem in general. I have 3 fans including cpu and power supply. It seems relitivley cool inside and its just annoying 10 min.of playing will shut it off. just looking for some advice. Thanks

Hi, For the past several weeks my PC (which is a Dell XPS 430) has shut down during game play, usually after 5-10 minutes.

As soon as the game is launched, the fan becomes really noisy and after 5-10 minutes stops, then the PC shuts down.

I don't really know much about computers, but I think I can give you a list of specs (Apologies if anything is wrong).

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 / 2.33 GHz
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
Motherboard: Dell G254h (I think)
Power Supply: Dell XPS 430 425W

One final note, I hoovered out dust from the computer and fan and I could play for a little longer (10-20 minutes) but it still shuts down, just later. I don't know whether that can be a clue as to whats causing my problems.

- Sam

Also, one other thing I forgot to mention. The games I play are games such as Lego Batman 2 and Saints Row the Third. So they are not particularly demanding games.

You may want to swap out the power supply... Dell power supplies are known to cause these sorts of issues over time. Go with a good quality 500 to 650 watt power supply

I have a feeling it's a heat related issue but i've checked all my fans and they all seem to be working properly, and this has never happened in the 2 years i've been using this system. could it just be dust clogging them up so they dont run at the proper rpm rate?

I hope you guys can help me, my computer started turning off (not restarting, completely shutting off) when I started playing Team Fortress 2, pretty much the most graphically intensive thing I do on my PC. Obviously at first I suspected my power supply, so I replaced a 430w for a 500w, hoping that would do the trick. That didn't work so we considered it might be a heating problem, ran a temperature monitoring program, everything was running at around 40C to 60C. So we tried running it with the side of the case off, hoping the airflow would help with the cooling and turned on the alarm in the BIOS so we could see what was having trouble. Near as we could tell it was the CPU fan making all the fuss. But we were looking right at it and it was spinning just fine! We even blew the dust out of it.

Here's where it gets confusing for us: when we restarted the system the alarm started going off randomly; during the start up, stopping, starting, silent for several minutes and then alarm forever. THEN we turned the alarm OFF and it actually still beeped at us- though it was once and very briefly.

So we've ordered a new CPU fan in hopes that will fix it but honestly we're stumped. Later I tried playing Age of Empires II, a VERY low graphic game and the alarm STILL went off. We're thinking that it may be that the gauge is reading the temperature incorrectly. Any help will be much appreciated.

So, everytime I'm in the middle of a game. For example I was playing DayZ and my PC just shuts down. It has been doing this for awhile. It does it on other games like Half-Life 2. I have a pretty powerful computer. It doesn't have this problem when video editing with 720p footage. I've tried the CHSDISK thing (i think thats how you spell it) and it still shuts down randomly during game. I've also tried turning off all the startup programs. Let me know if you need more info because this problem is so annoying

I am really stumped on this one.
Whenever I play a high graphics game on my computer, after some time, it just shuts off. All of the fans stop and all that works is an LED light in the front. This started happenening a little while ago and I thought it was my video card so I bought a new one. I replaced my old FX5200 with a Radeon 9600. However, while the problem occurs much less often, I am still having these random shutoffs during games. This happens ONLY in games, because I can leave my computer on for many hours without it crashing until I play a game. Another thing is that I cannot turn my computer on for about 30 seconds after these shutoffs.

I suspect its either my power supply or processor, as it is unlikely that the ram or hard drive are causing this.

I am going to run a program called memtest and another called hotcpu tester to test these out tonight but I don't think that this will help.

Does anyone know why this could be happening. Just to clear this up, I have all the newest drivers for my video card, mother board, etc. I also checked the temperature of my CPU and my Video Card, which is staying at about 110 and 90 degrees Fahrenheir, respectively. I really have no idea what to do, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a compaq windows xp home edition v2002 sp3 with amd sempron processor and ATI radeon xpress 200 series display adapter. Not sure how much of that is useless information as I don't know much about computers.
Anyway, after some time playing a game such as Stepmania or The Elder Scrolls Oblivion or Bots or pretty much any game of similar quality, the computer would kind of shutdown. The monitor would go blank and the power button would start slowly flashing green. The only way to shut it off is to unplug the power cord and plug it back in. Then I would have to wait some time before turning it back on because it usually shuts down again as it starts up. So what is my problem? I assume overheating may be a factor. The fan is working fine and I clean it every now and again. How do I check a computer's temperature?

I'm getting problems playing almost any game, for example, today I was playing league of legends, if my ping stays on 30fps without going below or above it, it shuts down about 25mins of playing, but if I play with 10-20fps it doesn't. Same happens on another games, such as minecraft and some more, I don't really understand why this happening.

Hello. My Samsung Syncmaster 730B monitor, capable and set for 60hz refresh rates, turns off and the power light blinks only when games are run, usually after 30 seconds or whatever intro sequence completes. The games are simple point and click games at low video settings and about ten such games were tried, each requiring very little computing power, on Vista service pack 1. The PC is a Compaq Athlon dual core and my video card is coming up as, and has the drivers for, the Nvideo Geforce 9400GT. The drivers have been uninstalled and reinstalled and updated. The computer says it came with a geforce 6400, but apparently the man who owned it before me updated it. The ram is 3GB on the PC, the card is 512MB. No error message appears, just the black screen and blinking monitor. The video card in display properties says generic pnp monitor and then nvideo. Graphics applications like Bryce and Poser occassionally crash but run and render very well overall. I run the computer in a resolution of about 1024 X whatever is normal, seven hundred something.
Please advise, thank you.

My system temps are quite stable so i dont think its a heat problem(I have 7 case fans). Can anyone tell me what the problem might be. I was thinking maybe the thermal grease on the vid card is ****, or maybe the drivers are **** (detonator 44.03). Any help would be much appreciated.

It might be useful to check what background processes you have running, and that you have a sufficient amount of Ram and that your hard drive is not very fragmented.

I am trying to solve a problem that my son is having while playing games on the computer. We have a Windows XP Pro, Asus A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard, AMD Athlon XP2500+, 512 MB Corsair Twin-X 3200LL Dual Channel Memory,
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB AGP Video Card. For the past several months, whenever my son plays a video game with a CD in the CD drive, the power shuts off at a random time in the game (from one to 5 minutes after starting the game). This does not happen with any other programs but only games requiring a CD (eg t does not happen on games played over the Internet with no disc required, nor does it happen when in Word or email).

I have run all of our virus software with no luck (Norton, spybot). I have also tried downloading an up to date version of DirextX and our video driver. Still no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there,

Just signed up for TSG Forums and really liking all the support and useful posts all over the boards!

I am having a problem with my computer that I've built about a year ago. Since about a month ago, it's been running great. No problems at all.

However, recently when I am playing games (specifically games that include high detail such as Call of Duty 4 and Counter-Strike: Source) my computer will just turn off. I can usually get about 15 minutes of gameplay in before it turns off.

At first, I though it may have been a heating issue. So I took off the whole side of my computer and tried to let it cool off for about 30 minutes, turned it back on, and got back into the game. Then the same thing happened.

I downloaded a program called SpeedFan, which shows me my temperature of everything. Here's what it shows me... I have no idea how to read it so I cannot tell if something is overheating or not.

I also did a virus scan and spyware scan and nothing major came up.

Any help or suggestions is HIGHLY appreciated.

Hey guys,
I need some help here. My computer is shutting off everytime I try to load a video game, doesn't matter what game it is, it just shuts off. I have to wait a minute or so and reset the PSU to turn it back on. I am looking for insight on what I should do. I already ran the Windows memory diagnostic and everything came back fine.

Here is the set up:
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97

CPU: AMD FX 6200 Six Core Processor 3.3 GHZ

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 580 GDDR5 1536 MB

RAM: 4x4GB DDR3 1600 Kingston
(Should note, the auto setting mobo set the ram at 1333mhz, 1.5v, 9-9-9-24)

(Note: This is one of two items being used from old comp)

PSU: RaidMax RX-630SS
(Note: This is one of two items being reused from old comp)

I say every game, but the only two games I have tried to load since building it are SWTOR and Neverwinter nights 2. Shuts down on both when loading.

I should also say I downloaded video drivers.

A:Comp shuts all the way down when loading games

We know you updated your video drivers but we want you to do the following:

1. Go to our Download section and click on Utilities and then download Driver Sweeper 3.1 to your desktop screen and install.

2. Download the latest diver(s) for your video card but don't install them.

3. Uninstall your video card drivers and reboot your PC into Safe Mode. Run Driver
Sweeper and remove ONLY the video card drivers. I had someone use it on their chipset drivers! If it doesn't find any video card drivers that is quite okay; just leave all other drivers alone.

4. Reboot and install new video card drivers.

I have encountered a problem that has me completely confused. My computer keeps shutting down randomly when playing any game. Its only when playing a game that it just shuts down... anything else it stays up and running. When it shuts down I can just hit the power button and let it boot up with no errors or anything.

I have been running speedfan and also Everest to check temps of everything. Avg temp of Cpu: 40C
Avg temp of GPU: 47C
All other temps AVG: 45C

So i don't think its a temp problem at all. Here are my specs for my computer:

AMD X2 5200
Nvidia Geforce 7950GT
600watt PSU
180GB HD
Windows XP SP2
2gigs of memory

Can anyone help me out with this? Like I said my comp is fine when I am not running games. but when in a game the comp might not shut down for 10mins or an hour definitely no regular intervals or pattern in the time.

Thanks guys...

BTW I took it to a computer shop and they ran a test on the memory and said it was fine too, and they said the PSU was working properly but yet they tested it when it was not running any games...

i have just upgraded my system to a Pentium Celeron D 2.66Ghz LGA 775 Processor with an MSI PM8M2-V LGA motherboard with 786MB of RAM and an MSI ATI Radeon 9250 128 MB DDR AGP card. Whenever I play any graphic intense game, within a few moments of loading the game, the computer simply shuts off. I am using Windows XP SP2.
I have tried another card, the MSI Geforce 5200 FX 128 MB Card, but it was more worse as clicking open any game would simply shut the computer off while with Radeon it takes 1-2 minutes before the computer shuts down. I have checked the temperatures but they are normal.
Is it the motherboard or the processor.

p.s I have been using these games perfectly when I was using a Celeron 1.7GHZ on my ASUS P4533MX motherboard with ATI Radeon 7000 64 MB card and such problems never occured.

Basically what happens is it shuts down at a random time whenever i play games (wow, ghost recon, counterstrike).
it makes a funny little click noise like a circut breaker is being fliped BUT everything else that i have plugged in stays running. (monitor, modem.)
at first it was a few minutes into wow it would shut down. i did play ghost recon for awhile though and it didn't seem to do this. however
i removed the side pannel and put a fan next to it incase of a heat problem. i also bought a battery backup/surge protector and that seemed to prolong the life to about 10 -30 mins thats when i noticed it happening for the other games as well. this is a really new rig (3 days) and i still have a 30 day return warrenty on it. is there some way i can fix it without returning it?

I booted the computer and it worked fine.

But now few days had passed, I was playing left for dead 2 and in the middle of the game my computer shuts off automatically.
I tried restarting it by unplugging my psu wire, booted up but it hangs on startup.

AND I can't get into windows anymore

1. Computer turns off in middle of game, could be PSU problem.

2. While booting, two options are provided; Repair windows ( recommended ) or Start windows normally. I choose option 1 but goes back to startup then option 2 goes back to startup.

I tried everything from going to safemode, restoring, safe mode with command prompt, changing configuration on BIOS, reseting bios and unplugging rams and graphics card. And it still goes back to startup.
I believe its a graphics card problem?

And one time I got a blue screen saying that its an unsolvable problem and its due to a hardware problem.

A:My computer shuts off randomly during games

Try System Restore to the date/entry for installing PC Booster. This will undo any registry changes made by that ***** program!

In future, never use any of these performance enhancing or "overclocking" programs. This is procisely what can happen.

Repost of the System Restore doesn't work.

It started yesterday when I went to play Borderlands with my brother. My computer just shut down after a few minutes in the game. I was playing Civ 5 all night long just the night before and played Borderlands like 2 days ago and I didn't encounter any problems.

Right now, whenever I run a DX9-11 game, it just shutdowns my computer either after a few minutes loading or while loading. (Tried with Borderlands, ANNO2070, Kingdom of Amalur, Civ 5) It does not crash when I only surf on the net or play some flash games (ie. Dofus)

What I did without success:
I did a mem. test (MemTest86+) and found no errors.
I replaced my stock chipset fan with a 60mm one as I thought it was overheating. (bleep Intel mobo is hot)
Ran a stress test on my GPU without any problem.
Updated my DX drivers, VC++ redist
Updated my graphic card drivers
Tried another identical GPU, still crashes.
Ran a stress test on my CPU with Prime95: No problem.

So now I'm out of ideas.

PSU: Ultra LSP550 550-Watt
CPU: Intel Pentium D 965 Extreme Edition Processor HH80553PH1094M
Motherboard: EVGA nForce 750i SLI FTW
RAM: OCZ Platinum XTC 4GB Dual Channel PC6400 Memory

PC is about 3 years old.

EDIT: Added CPU stress test

How about checking the temp readings...against the temps specificed by the manufacturer?

Hey there. I've had this problem with my Alienware for about three years--and Ive had it for three years. The reason why I haven't been so gung-ho about fixing the issue is because its pretty sporadic. Anyway, my alienware seems to shut down with no warning when I start playing games (ie: WoW) or generally start using my NVidia card.

AT first I thought it was over heating, but all of my fans are working. I bought a new power supply, cleaned out my computer, and made sure there was no dust around the fans, but still this problem persists. Now, I think its either the power button or the graphic card. (I heard a rumor that the NVidia drivers had a bug that dealt with the temprature of the card.)

Like I said, my temperatures have all been in the average range. I've also done almost every test known to man for this computer, too. From memory to stress testing it, but it all comes out with flying colors. There are no viruses or malware, and I changed my RAM placement twice, just to make sure. Here are the specs:

ABIT motherboard (AA8XE
6800 NVidia Geforce Ultra
2 gigs of RAM
120 gig hard drive

I think thats all you need? So what do you think. Anyway help would be awesome.

A:My PC randomly shuts off while playing games

Common problem with Alienware computers, and difficult to track down.
What memory modules do you have. Are they the same brand? Are any of them Value Ram?
I would first first consider running a memory test from www.memtest.org. Run it four hours or 7 to 10 passes, which ever takes longer.
Consider changing your CPU Fan if everything else remains the same.
The shortcut fix would be to replace the video graphics card to see what happens. It is a decent hard for regular use, but gamers have trouble with it. I cannot think of any reason why it would be the power button.
What is the brand and rpms of the hard drive?

So, as the title say, my computer shuts down when playing some games.
I've done my research and it's not an overheating problem, I left it at an repairshop for service, which inclouded fixing the cooling system

So, specs.
It's and Asus N56DP Laptop with WIndows 8.1, 8GB Ram, quadcore, I can get more if needed.

Atm, Im using a 90W power cable, and at first I thought it could be that one, but from what I've read, it's quite usual for a laptop, but I dont know as computers is not my main thing.

So, that's about it, if theres anything else you need to know, tell me, Im desperate to get it working as it did before they fixed it up!

A:Computer Shuts off During Use of Applications (Games)

go to start > type in event viewer , under windows logs select system (everything is on the left tab)

look for specific errors which are usually red and look for errors related to the time and cause of your problem.
are you overheating ? you should check your temperature with hwinfo or in the bios. specifically cpu and gfx card.

I have a 2 month old Lenovo G50-70 that I mostly use to game. Until recently all of my games, such as Smite and Civ V worked fine on it, but recently the computer shuts down around 30-40 minutes into game play, give or take. I have already had the hardware checked out at the local repair store, and they say that there's nothing wrong with it, even when they play with the games. While checking out the Event Viewer, it repeatedly says that there was a "Critical Event" having to do with the power supply, with an Error ID of 41. If any more information is needed, just ask. I hope someone can shed a fresh perspective on this.

Hi, New here. I really hope someone can help me. ok heres the problem,

This first occurred after updating my gfx card drivers to the latest version and the only games it affected was Call of Duty 2 and F.E.A.R. Basically after 5 or 10 mins (randomly) my computer just switches off and requires being switched on. i looked on the net but found no useful help. After some trial and error I rolled back my gfx card drivers to what came on the CD for the cards. problem solved. However I have just bought Age of Empires 3 and am getting the same thing happen again, still on the original drivers from the gfx CD. F.E.A.R and Call of Duty 2 work fine.

It's really wierd. I don't want to have to change my drivers back and forth just to play different games.

System specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ dual core processor
2GB Corsair XMS Pro C2 3200 RAM
Asus A8N-SLI Premium Motherboard.
2x MSI Geforce 7800 GTX 256MB gfx cards in SLI mode
flippin' Massive Thermaltake bettle CPU cooler
480W Thermaltake Butterfly PSU
3x hard drives (80GB, 200GB and 300GB)
3x DVD/CD RW drives.
Thermaltake Hardcano

According to my temp sensors I get the following temps for most games (which run fine) and same for the games causing a switch off.

CPU 41-42 C
GFX card1 48 - 52C
GFX card2 38 - 47C

Running Windows XP service pack 1.

Plz plz help me!!!!

A:Computer shuts down when playing games, please help.

It probably is your psu. It likely doesn't have enough 12v amperage, as many of the thermaltake 480w versions only have 18a, and for sli, you should have at least 26a.
A nice ocz, seasonic, enermax or antec 500w psu(sli ready) should be a good fix.

Before i start explaining i did not have this problem before i upgraded + im not the best at computers
So i bought a new video card (NVIDIA GTX 560 TI) cause my old card was really bad. So when i started playing i tested the graphics on APB(All Points Bulletin), before i upgraded i would only be able to play on low without lag but now i could play on High. And so after 10 mins or so of playing my computer would just turn off and then on agian after about 5 secs. I started it up agian and put the graphics on low and disabled all the special graphics options + put the fan speed on high. Now i can sometimes play for 2 hours and sometime only 30 mins which is really wierd cause GTX 560 TIis suppose to handle atleast High on a game like APB.
So what i am wondering is what is causing this problem and what can i do to fix it?

Computer Specs:
Computer: HP pavilion m9651me
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz
Video card: NVIDIA GTX 560 TI
Memory:8gb RAM
OS:Vista & SP2
Power supply: 300watts(Not sure how much)

The picture shows the temps of my computer just for sure.

A:Computer shuts down during playing games

The problem is your power supply, 300 is not enough for gtx 560ti, get 550+, open your case and look at your powersupply,

Hi there! I know most of you people hate one-post-askers but you should take a look at this. You could be the one that saves a humans life tonight.

First, the specs:
MB: Abit AB9 PRO
CPU: Intel C2D E6600
Ram: Corsair XMS2 DHX 2x2GB 800mHz
GPU: Sapphire HD2600XT 256MB 128-bit
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 250GB 7200RPM 8MB
PSU: Aspire Chameleon 550W

I got this PC from one of my relatives. I don't know was it flawless before I got but since I started to use it, it closed games or shutdown itself randomly with no specific triggers but mostly (%99 like) while in games. Once or two when copying data between external HDDs, downloading big stuff, encoding videos, etc. I can't play any kind of games but flash games in peace.

I tried to change GPU (no change, changed to nVidia 6600GT), PSU (no change, but it was like 200W so that wouldn't count) Ram (no changes, before it was 2x1GB 1066 OCZ platinium ram).
Things I never changed MOBO, CPU, HDD.

I got the latest DirectX, GPU drivers. It's like an infection, whenever I update graphic drivers first two days is o.k but then shutdowns restart.

Please someone help.

Sincerely, the zeph.

Hi I wanted to start this thread about my computer that shuts down as soon as certain games start.

I have an alienware Area 51 ALX

12 gb ram
amd 6990 saphire card (I have 2 but removed one and get the same problem)
CPU is liquid cooled
1.2 kw power supply

(Almost all the parts from the motherboard, video cards, radiator, fans, power supply, have been replaced already and the error continues.)
Troubleshooting I did:
Ran this dell mem test thing and all memory passed
Checked cpu using torture test with prime95: no errors
used GPU-Z: temps dont seem to get that high

The games dont even run this is on a clean install of windows 7 nothing else installed except fresh video card drivers 12.4 and steam. As soon as I switch this one game Cursed crusade for example to 1920x1080 resolution the computer just reboots, no bsod or anything. Other games once the game starts it reboots.

At this point they want me to do a system exchange, the problem is my machine they dont make anymore, which would mean downsizing to an alienware aurora that with dual 6990's I am pretty sure would melt. I would like to keep this system so I would rather find a solution since it may be something that I have not checked.

I see the same error as previously before doing a clean install. (also os is on diff hard drive now)

I get event Id 41 kernel-power The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first this error could be caused if the system stopped responding, ... Read more

A:Computer shuts down Playing Games

Event ID 41 is just Windows telling you that it doesn't know why the system shutdown.

How long did you run Prime95? Which test did you use (Blend, Small FFT's, or Large FFT's)? How high did the CPU temperatures get?

Using GPU-Z, how high do the temperatures get there? How long did you run that test?

Are you overclocking? If so, do the problems stop when you revert the system to stock (non-overclocked) values?

Have you tried opening the case and pointing a house fan into the case? Does that increase the amount of time before the system shuts down?

Being very, very careful (after the system shuts down), unplug the system from the wall and open the case. Hold onto the metal of the chassis with one hand and feel around near (BUT DON'T TOUCH) the components to see if any are exceedingly hot! BE VERY, VERY CAREFUL!!! You can burn yourself doing this!!!
