Q: HP Envy 21 Poor quality, low sound, Beats Audio not working ...

HP ENVY TouchSmart 17-j160nr Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)Model #: E8A06UAWhen Windows was giving a free Windows 10 upgrade from 8, I upgraded.Since then, I have had very low sound from only the front speakers near my wrists, and low quality like they are from a really old game boy.Beats Audio does not work, and there are no drivers for it.I have scoured the internet for a solution to my problem, but I have not found one. I have checked every other week researching. I've been in the properties and drivers, I even did a Windows Update at the time of installation and have kept it current to see if there is a fix; to no avail! HP Doesn't find any updated drivers for my computer for audio. Beats Audio has no software or drivers for my computer either.Again, I have not found the same problem with a solution. None have worked so far! Please help

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I can't get any bass on my audio and my Beats control panel isn't working.  I'm running Windows 8.1.  Is it a driver issue?

A:Poor sound quality on Beats laptop

Hi @henry8181 , Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP Notebook and having issues with the sound on Windows 8.1. The Microsoft Sound Troubleshooter will go through some settings and will fix it automatically. The first thing to try is this HP support document No Sound from Speakers. It has a number of good troubleshooting steps including using the built-in Windows troubleshooter.Another solution is to uninstall the driver manually then force Windows to reinstall it. Follow the steps below to do that. Open Device Manager and open Sound, video and game controller section.Right click on your audio driver and select Uninstall.Restart the computer. Windows will then force in the driver on startup. I would be happy to assist if needed as there are many models of HP I would need the model number. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? Please let me know. Thanks.

Hi,

I have the XPS 8700 and just got a new set of PowerBeats3 headphones. They paired with my desktop but the sound quality is terrible.  It's extremely muffled. Sounds just like bad AM radio reception.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

A:Poor sound quality with Beats Bluetooth headphones

The sound quality of the headset depends greatly on how it seals in the ear canal.  Try the different ear inserts and see if one allows better sound.  As long as you do not have them set as a communications device, they should sound good.
With mine if I put a little downward pressure the seal is better and I hear really good base ..
If you think it might be your computer, try the headset on another system.

I have recently purchased a new HP laptop but the sound is really terrible - lots of reverb and nothing is clear - very disappointed as a big reason for purchasing this laptop was the supposedly amazing sound technology provided by the Bang & Olufsen speakers! Please can someone advise how to fix this or is it just faulty?

My audio sounds slightly distorted (especially the high frequencies) while listening to MP3's at a normal listening volume. (and thereís some air noise, only when a song is playing)

A) The Source CD had copy guard protection, which distorts sound quality when transferred to a computer.

B) The songs were recorded at too low of a quality, because the person who made them was frugal with HDD space.

C) The sound card is of poor quality, and isn't "rendering" the sounds correctly.
If "C" is correct as I suspect, what sound card would you recommend?

I listen to Music, and watch DVD's on my system. I'm not really into gamming. I'm looking for high quality, and willing to pay a little more for it.

I would like Dolby 5.1 SS support.

I have heard that Audiogy (SP?) is pretty good.... thereís like 8 different grades of it though, so Iím a bit unsure of which is right for me.

Any help is greatly appreciated as usual.

A:Poor audio quality - Is it the sound card?

You probably can't go wrong with the Audigy cards or any of the middle to top end Sound Blasters. The cheaper SB's give distortions- that you may be experieincing- on some mother boards. I have a little machine in the bed room with one in there and the voices sound like robots many times.

Check out Turtle Beach. They have good cards for a little money and the sound control software is pretty cool. They usually ship with mixers and custom stuff in the software bundle. I have a old Quadzilla 2 in the game machine here and it's still kicking. This one doesn't do surround sound from the CD player but the new ones do. My neighbors can hear Godsmack from across the street when I wind this one up.

Bottom line. Stay with the well known sound guys and you should do ok without having to hire a research team to compare products. Be willing to drop a couple hundred geeta on a card and you'll be in business.

Don't forget to have good speakers.

Hi,

I have a Toshiba satelite A30 with a Realtek ac97 audio device.
The audio has been working fine for a few years now, but has recently been producing poor quality sound, like it is saturated.
I have been playing with sound volume, have reinstalled the latest drivers as well as the latest version of directX, but still experience the same problem.
I have also checked if there was a hardware conflict, but nothing shows...

can it be that the hardware is damaged, and i need to buy an external sound card or can this be solved otherwise?

thanks for anyone's help.

Hello people, I am currently having some audio problem wtith my Hp envy. Back in 2013 while testing some software programs, everything went well; I was playing on an emulator when all of the sudden the audio cut off and has remained like that since. The only things I try to do was to updated to windows 8.1 as it was originally running windows 8, but after a while decided to upgrade to windows 10, as well as downloading drivers in this site which has not worked still. The only way I'm able to hear audio is if I apply my bluetooth speakers but even that the audio cuts off and I dont know if it is the speakers or the laptop. Is there a step by step to follow up and activate the audio? Has anyone had the ame problem with this model of Hp paltop?

so i was talking to a friend a week ago about tech stuff and he showed me his new 2015 issue Macbook Pro 15. Notwithstanding some awful issues they do have, he was amazed at the sound so I took a test drive.
I agree: the speaker/audio fidelity and quality is superb - the best I have heard on any notebook in the last 6 years or so. I have no idea what magic they did to get the volume, range, separation, etc so well-executed in something that is as thin or thinner than, say, my zenbook ux305 [awful, embarassing audio].

But, apple has experience: anyone listened to the el cheapo first generation iPad Mini ? the audio volume and quality beats every notebook in the class, and is on par with the newish Air 2 [which is better but not by much]

those who had the earlier ['14] models are stunned also. they made huge improvement and really didn't say much about it in the specs etc released.

What Intel/Microsoft notebook of comparable size can match it?

I know absolutely nothing about Audio. I know that my speaker set up has a subwoofer. That it connects to the back of my computer through a black, green and orange 3-way spliced cable. I know I took the computer apart to move it to a new case and that's when it started. I use the on board sound card to an ASUS A8N32 SLI board with the proper sound driver.

The assistance feature for the less informed, like myself, says there's something wrong with my green cable. There doesn't seem to be any tears or weak connections.

As for the problem itself. Sound is mildly distorted. There's severe bass tones? where there shouldn't be. Half of the sounds from 3d games like Oblivion, do not register.

A:Poor quality Audio

You should have a Realtek Aux console. Start/Programs/Realtek===> some drop down menu. In there you can set-up your speakers for 2.1, 3.1, 5.1 etc. also there should be a graphics equalizer where you can set base or there can be a tab just for setting how much sub-woofer (volume and cross-over frequency) I set my cross-over at 60Hz.

You need to tell it how many speakers you have, then set your sub-woofer and you should be ok.

I downgraded from Vista to XP a couple months ago, but haven't had the oppurtunity to play with my webcam/audio feature until now. I'm on an Acer Aspire 5630 Laptop, with a built in cam and mic.

I had a great audio quality on Vista. Now suddenly my audio quality is very poor... not so much in the fact that it doesn't sound good, but that you can barely hear it.

Again, it worked great on Vista.

Now I've tried playing with all the settings... I've spent a lot of time tweaking things, but nothing fixes it. I think it may have something to do with the gay RealTek Audio Manager (which I'd like to get rid of, but don't know how). My audio quality is just very, very muffled and low-toned.

In Master Volume, I am using advanced settings and I have everything turned up full blast. In the mic's advanced settings, Bass and Treble are both set to as low as possible, and it doesn't allow me to move them or change them.

My laptop has excellent quality audio on cd's, streaming videos, games, and everything else EXCEPT DVD's. It used to play the sound normally but suddenly it started to skip, echo and sounds 'tinny'. The video on the DVD's still plays fine, so it is just the audio that seems to be messed up. Like I say, the audio on everything else still works absolutely fine.
I contacted Acer about the problem and they said I should just reset the laptop and start over, but since most of the programs on the laptop were put on at the factory (including windows) if I reset it then I won't have the disks to put all the programs back on. Any help would be much appreciated.

I just bought a Dell 1721 laptop the audio driver is SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC... Im assuming that means that its built into the motherboard... I have plugged the headphones into my brothers iMac and they sound great... What can I do to make the audio sound better and more alive... It sounds very flat and feels like low on power... At low volume levels there is no bass... I turn up the bass on wmp11 and all it does is almost mute the highs when the bass hits... Leads me to think there is not enough power going to the jack to support both.... I can turn it up quite loud and the bass sounds great if i wanted to go deaf in a week but the rest is still lifeless.... I am hoping there is some settings that need adjusting since i dont think i can install anything internally and dont know of any other fixes... I recently upgraded my SattellitePro 4300 laptop, increasing the ram and HDD. This required a reload of operating system (WIN 2000 Pro) and all drivers and software.
Now the sound coming from the speakers or headphones, no matter what the source (CD's, MP3, or WAV files) sound like an old scratched record, with a "click" every 3 seconds. This is more noticable with loud music, and seems to be an "break" in the sound continuity every 3 seconds, just for a small period, perhaps less than a tenth of a second.
I have done all the obvious things (updated sound drivers, etc.) but still the problem remains. All sound output experiences this problem.

The sound driver is Yamaha DS-XG.

Any suggestions what else I could try?

Well, maybe "fixed" is a little strong.

Not sure what I have done, but it did not include any more drivers, but merely changes to the settings and today, after I powered up this morning, the sounds is working without those annoying "scratched vinyl" simulations.

I'll have to mark this one up as "smoke and mirrors".

A:HDMI on TV no audio, poor quality image

Video and sound are separate, although both should be in the HDMI signal - IF THE PC Supports this.

When you plug in the HDMI cable most system will change the default audio playback device to HDMI. However, it sounds like yours is not doing this. With the HDMI cable plugged in, go to the Sound Panel, Playback section. the HDMI should be set as the default Playback device.

If you still cannot get HDMI audio, contact ASUS, since this is a new PC (or the place where you purchased it).

I am running an AMD 2700+ on a MSI K7N2 Delta motherboard with 512mb of ram. Video Card is an ATI All in Wonder 9000. When I play a CD in either drive (Lite-on 52x24x52 CD Burner or Lite-on DVD-Rom ) The audio pops and scratches like I was playing a vinyl record on a phonograph. I tried different cd's and the same thing happens. All the CD's I tried were CD's I Bought in the store not burned. I checked all my sound settings and I enabled DMA on both CD-Roms and still the same thing. I disconnected the analog audio cables inside the computer to see if that was the problem and no luck. Any suggestions????

Thanks in advance

Carl

Hello

Once in a while, I got very poour sound quality from Youtube, The sound look like a metallic one. I did listen to the same video on my Android tablet and the sound was normal.

I tried with Chrome and Internet Explorer. Both give me the poor quality sound

Sound from Realteck. Did check and I have the latest driver

Any idea

Win 10 64 24 gb memory

A:Poor sound quality (Occasionnaly)

Since this is intermittent, I would suspect the internet link from YouTube. From your post I assume all other sound is OK.

I downloaded a few mp3's of old-time radio shows, and they play and sound fine through Windows Media. I burned them to a cd, and now there is a tinny/far away sound, like listening through a long pipeline. Any ideas?

Hello everyone,Please I need help with my Laptop:HP Pavilion TS Sleekbook 14Original OS: Windows 8, then upgraded to Windows 8.1, then currently upgraded to Windows 10 Home 64-bit.Problem 1: The "Touch Screen" feature is not working anymore. I can't remember if it happened during upgrades since I rarely touch the screen.Problem 2: Since around 2 months ago, the sound quality deteriorated. The volume is still good, but no bass when listening with both headphones or theater speakers. But when I used other music players, both headphones & theater speakers sound very good. So the problem is in my laptop, even the graphic Equalizer cannot enhance the quality. The sound in my laptop is very essential since I do music productions using this laptop. It's frustrating having this poor sound quality. I already did Uninstall & Reinstall the driver IDT High Definition Audio CODEC but still no improvement. Can anyone help me?Thank you.

I just got 9470m and docking station last week, and I noticed that the audio quality is very poor (no bass and very little mid-range) when playing music while connected to the docking station which my Logitech 2.1 speakers are connected to. If I move the Logitech audio cord over from the docking station to the audio out jack on the laptop the sound is great, and if I can also reproduce the poor quality with a pair of good quality headphones. There is no driver for the UltraSlim Docking Station, right? I suspect an RMA is in my future. Thanks,

A:Poor Audio quality using UltraSlim Docking Station with the ...

Same experience here, Revolve 810 with UltraSlim Docking. If I plug my headphones to the audio-out of the docking, the sound is really bad, if I do the same to the audio-out of the computer, the sound is good. To make things worse, the audio-out of the computer is located in a place that is covered completely by the docking station, therefore I have no option of plugging my headphones to the computer.
