Q: picture white on white

I need to take some pictures of wedding dresses. They are white with white trim and white beads. each white is a different shade but close to each other. any advise on how to get the best pictures.
I am using a Sony F63 with the 3 1/2 disk on a windows XP 2.6G cpu and 512 Ram.

Preferred Solution: picture white on white

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I canít find any reference to your camera. Iím guessing it might be a Mavica, but I think they all have FD designations and I see no FD 63 either. A 3.5 inch floppy holds 1.44Mb total. That makes for some pretty small images. If you just want to display images online it is sufficient.

What you need is some lighting from the side to make some shadows. A movie light might work if you move it back a way and also maybe use the camera flash. A small halogen work light would work as well if you have one of those. They have remote flash units that arenít pricey that are triggered by the camera flash. You could put one of those to the side, but you might have to lower the EV if the camera doesnít have TTL metering.

You might want to lower the EV a little in any case if your camera allows that. It is easy to burn out the highlights and not be able to recover them in software. You might want to bracket the EV as it might want to lower it on its own with all that white in the picture.

Digital pictures are cheap. Take lots of pictures with different settings and whatever lighting you have at different angles and distances. But you need to get some lighting other than the camera flash.

I'm getting a good colour picture watching the TV channels
using mu ATI All In Wonder Radeon graphics card, but when
I switch over to the video channel (to do some vidcaps)
I can only get a black and white picture.

The video is connected via a scart lead to left & right audio leads and SVHS lead, which plugs into the Radeon card.
I've tried altering various settings, but with no luck.

I,ve also tried the same connections with a Hauppauge
TV tuner card and get a good colour picture on the video

Why am I getting the video channel in colour using the
Hauppauge TV tuner card, but in black and white with the
ATI Radeon card? Anyone have any suggestions?

A:Why does my tv-out only produce black @ white picture?

There are quite few "hits" for the issue in Google > Groups -- perhaps if you troll through them you might get some ideas:

There appears to be a feeling that the Nvidia drivers just don't properly support it. Others say it's a matter of setting the right output for PAL.

Some use a 3rd party utility called "tvtool"

I'm wondering if someone can please help me, because this is starting to do my head in.

I have an ATI X1600 graphics card, but it has no place on it which would enable me to record video from Sky TV via the SCART connection on the Sky Digibox (No s-video port), so I bought a PCI TwinHan Digital and Analogue TV capture card. I connected the S-Video end to the TwinHan card, and the Scart end to one of the Scart bits at the back of the Digibox. I have the same problem. When turning on the laptop screen goes to white, I can hear windows starting but cannot see anything. I connected it to an external monitor, which will only display once windows has loaded. I then took the whole laptop apart and discovered the LCD cable was frayed due to a faulty laptop hinge. I replaced the cable and it was the same, just white. The problem I think is with the motherboard and the intergrated video card. Upon taking the whole thing apart I noticed that where the video card plugs in is right where the heat sink is and the cooling fan which gets exceptional hot. I figure it has fried the board to the extend the monitor will not work where it is plugged in, but the external monitor will work but only when windows boots. So sad to say because of the the heat this laptop puts off and if you have it sitting on your lap or bed or anywhere else that it cannot cool properly it has over heated and you will have to get a new motherboard.

A:Laptop screen starts up white and stays white

"I connected it to an external monitor, which will only display once windows has loaded"... This is normal behavior because the video signal to the external monitor is not sent until Windows loads. If you can see normal video, the motherboard video chip is good

Computer covers whole screen with either white, or white with black, and blue stripes. Multiple times a day.?
This computer was bought in 2005, (HP Media Center PC). Within the second week this freezing(it freezes, and the screen has a white or white with black and blue stipes) occured( yes second week, my brother was uninformed and thought it was normal and didnt return it. It happened often enough as to save anything you were working on every ten to twenty minutes on a bad day. It settled and slowly became less of a problem, then stoped. One day he got a virus and had to restore the computer, the freezing started up again. same as last time, it settled then stoped, a month later, i recieved this computer as a hand me down, as my brother went to college and got a MAC. That was in mid summer of 2008, a week and a half ago, i got a huge virus, i restored my computer, and the freezing started up again, after not doing it once for over a year. It has gotten as bad as freezing every 30 minutes some nights. And earlier today it froze, i turned off and on my computer, went down stairs, and when i came back it was frozen again. I had not even used and program. Please help if you have any idea whats wrong!
Things to keep in mind...
-It only happened after the computer was restored, or bought(ish)
-Its not a normal freeze where you see the programs on the screen still, the screen goes completely white, or white with black and blue stripes.
-4 years old

A:Screen Freezes and turns white or white with stripes

Then maybe it isn't freezing at all. Maybe there's a problem with your monitor, vga cable, or video card.

Try a different monitor/cable and see if that changes anything. If it doesn't, then try reseating the video card--if any--and if that doesn't work I suggest getting a cheap one from someone's old pc at least to test with.

Installing a new video card can be complicated, but google search for a guide or follow the setup instructions for the video card to the letter and you'll have no problems.

I have some .PNG files (snapshots of stock charts) and I need to change the white background on some of them into a grey background. The charts are simple in the sense that each only contain a few common colors, and 90% of each chart is the background color. I have Paint and Irfanview but don't think these will do it. Is there an inexpensive program that will do this job? Thanks.

When you say "do this job" do you mean automatically? The answer is probably not.

Paint will not handle PNG files. So you can convert them using Irfan, to GIF, JPG or BMP. Try the fill tool. I don't believe it will work though. I think whatever program you use will require you to work pixel by pixel.

Hi, We are using MS Word 2007 on Windows XP and 2007. With Word 2003, we were able to use the text/picture border for our inline photos. Our document may have hundreds of photos, and with 2003, it was a one-click procedure once we formatted the first picture to have the correct border color and width.

With Word 2007, the same border option for pictures is no longer available (text and paragraph only now), and if we use the text option, the picture has a thin white line at the left. Elsewhere, I read that this is the cursor line. Is there a way to get rid of this white line that is NOT a procedure that must be done to each photo? (again, hundreds of photos involved).

I know I can use the right-click Format Picture option or the Picture Tools tab to insert a border (in 2003, this was the way you put borders on floating graphics), but those function require numerous clicks/selections. The picture border option on the Picture Tools tab will retain color for repeated use, but it defaults back to 3/4 pt for the width. Our border width is 2 pt and would require the user to choose the width again for every picture. Is there a way to change the default width?

We no longer have the option of saving our files down to Word 2003. Thanks for any help anyone can give!

Ever since I got this notebook, all I've had are problems, and HP has never been able to resolve a single problem. It's like the warranty is completely meaningless. They didn't even replace defective parts, let alone replace the entire notebook.I've had problems with the hard disk, and was told we can't solve this problem as this is a problem with every envy notebook.I've had a problem where dust is building up inside the screen (between the screen and the external glass cover), and I was told I need to send the notebook to the service centre (even though I have an "on-site, at home service warranty? for 3 effing years). This one time, one HP tech even told me "ENVY NOTEBOOKS DON'T SUPPORT VLC PLAYER, YOU MUST PLAY MULTIMEDIA USING WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER ALONE". NOW, I have a white line appearing on the top corner of the screen, and HP said I need to take a picture of the problem in the BIOS. The BIOS itself has a white background. How can I click a picture of a white line on a white background? If I write with white ink on a white paper, can anyone read it? I explained this precisely, and was told "Since the issue is not present in BIOS, we need to check if this can be covered in the warranty". WELL, THE ISSUE IS PRESENT IN THE BIOS, IT?S JUST THAT IT CANNOT BE SEEN AS IT?S WHITE ON WHITE, AND YOU WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS AND NOT REPLACE MY LCD? The issue is present in live linux USB sticks as well! All you need to reproduce it is a DARK BACKGROUND. ... Read more

The main picasa screen on the background becomes white, the only thing I can do is just to kill the process. When I try to restart picasa it automatically starts the uploading process it did not compelte (and hangs again). I tried even uninstall it and install once more, still did not help. I have a new laptop with a gig of Ram and very few programs on it. It runs Vista. I've been building a huge mansion in Sims 2 (basic prog only) and it's run just fine. I have about 17,000 items of CC and it still ran fine.

Yesterday I discovered I could change some settings and make the picture more detailed so I did so. Things looked so much better but as I began having a display driver error message I figured I would see if mine needed updating. I had trouble finding the right one but finally did on the Gateway site. It said my driver is up to date.

Today I was testing out some new CC files and the game began crashing so I worked and found the bad files. The game was working ok.

I began slowly putting some of the files I had removed back in to be tested. I was trying to make it easier by renaming the downloads dir to downloads2 and making a new downloads dir.

At some point, and I can't recall exactly when, I began not even being able to load the game at all. I'd start it and before it even reaches the first screen I began getting this white box with a red box with a white X in it. Nothing else will happen.

1. First I removed the files I'd put into the new downloads dir. No change.
2. Then I deleted the dl dir and renamed the downloads2 dir back to downloads in case there was a conflict, though I couldn't imagine why there would be except they were in the same main directory. No change

This means that the problem has nothing at all to do... Read more

It sounds to me like the dropping the keyboard is a red herring.

It is more likely that the colour temperature of one of your monitors has shifted with age. Get yourself a monitor calibration tool, I use the Huey pro relatively cheap or you could go for something more expensive like a Spyder or similar. You need one that copes with two monitors, then use the device to adjust your monitors properly.

When wiring up a patch cable, 1 person said it has to be in the following order due to the green and greenwhite white being transmit wires or something..?
(not sure about the order of then greens and blues but it was roughly that)

The other person said he does it like this purely for convention, and the 2nd netwoking guy said it doesnt matter as long as they are the same at either end. and for crossover you just reverse the sequence.
I'd be enclined to o with the it doesnt matter which order, as they are only wires the colour of a wire doesnt meen jack surely. its just to help you get the order correct... no? its like people who say you shouldnt do 123456 in the lotto as thatll never come up... well newsflash its statistically the same as getting 6 randomly ordered numbers.

Hi. And thanks for reading this post.
Description: Windows 7 Starter (netbook) loads , desktop is visible for about 30 seconds, then is taken over by a white screen with a submit box on the right bottom portion of the screen. Other than a one-line warning that says "You have 30 seconds to connect to the internet," there are no other messages or directions. I suspect it is some type of flawed ransomware, with an intelligent, very well-hidden code.
From a USB, using command prompt, I've tried several dozen malware scanners including HitmanPro and MalwareBytes without success.
The computer was infected on 11/18/15 and the virus seems to have deleted any previous restore point(s).
The white screen virus locks up Safe Mode and Safe Mode with Networking. The white screen also launches when trying to use explorer.exe or opening up notepad to save a file to the desktop. Tried to use a new user account to bypass the virus, but the white screen locks up the new user account in the same way.
Safe Mode with Command Prompt works.
I am thankful to be here for some professional help and look forward to the learning experience.
I followed Bleeping Computer's directions and uploaded the relevant logs from a recently run Farbar scan.

Okay so I just marked one thing fixed in another section, because it is. Fixed it by reformating, however now I'm facing another debacle.

I just noticed tonight after signing onto Windows Live Messenger the oddest occurance. Small little white boxes that seem to seemingly appear underneath the profile picture.

Attached is the picture.

I run Vista Home Premium without SP2 being installed.

I did just install windows udpates yesterday, anyone have any sort of insight on this?

I googled this and only found one other post like this on the internet and it seemed to have happened the same day as this began to occur (June 12, 2008)

Thanks for any insight on this.

A:WLM White Box?

When I boot up my laptop XP2 Home right after the Windows XP Logo comes
up, I get a Blank Box with a 0 in it, I have to click o.k. to get to my desk top.
This happened when I was trying to get rid of another problem on my desktop
which I solved. But I must have fooled around with my registry too much
and created another problem. I tried doing a system restore, but nothing happened.

Can you help me please?

I wonder if anyone can help me with this photo of a squirrel - I am not very good at 'editing' and my efforts wo 'paint' the white eye have been a disaster.....better to leave the original! I know it is a bit fuzzy and dark - my excuse is that it was about to rain and my attempts to lighten it were also abysmal!

kind regards....Margaret

I have this strange little white box in the top left my my screen, it's basically a dead spot on my desktop.

My windows cover it normally like it was a part of my desktop, but I can't right click on it as if it were my desktop.

I'm not sure if this is a Vista problem, a glitch or what. I don't even think its harmful... just annoying. I've changed monitors, wallpapers, and done the SP1 upgrade for vista. It does not go away when the PC is restarted, its a factory made HP tower with an upgraded video card. I don't know if it started before or after I installed the video card. The card is an ATI 1650 series.

(Box is covered normally by windows, as you can see in the second image)

Thats the top left corner of my desktop with the box. It's always in the same spot.

Its been there at least 6months and I regularly virus/ad-ware scans so I believe its nothing major. Any info is much appreciated.

its probably just a pixel thats gone, i dont think its anything to worry about.

I'm getting a White Box on the upper left hand corner of my desktop I shut off the moniter and that clears it for awhile, then it pops back on....

Hi there,

Take a print screen and paste it into paint and see if the box remains, if it does save the image and post it as an attachement in your next reply.

This will help to diagnose your problem.

If it doesnt remain when you take a print screen, then can you take a photo of your monitor with a camera and upload the photo.

Either way it will help to see what the issue is in first hand.

Is there a way I can get rid of the white box around the icon's text in the desktop. I have Windows 2000, and I just want the text with nothing behind it but the wallpaper I have chosen, not these annoying white boxes underneath each icon. I'm wondering if it's a setting that somehow got changed because even when I go on the internet, every page has a white background but the text still has color. Are these problems related somehow and if so, how can I fix them? Any help at all regarding this big-*** posting would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to TSG,

If you have taken anything out of startups via msconfig please go to Start Ė Run Ė type in msconfig Ė click OK and click on the Startup tab. Click on Enable All then Apply and OK. Then please do the following:

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I have a friend who's computer is running W7. For a while now, at random periods, her computer screen will go completely white. The mouse arrow will still be there and she can move the arrow around, but there is nothing else on the screen. She has to press and hold the power button to turn it off, then when she turns it back on, it all seems to work fine, until the next time.

I've heard of the Blue Screen of Death, the Black Screen of Death, but I've never heard of a White Screen of Death.

Is anyone familiar with this sort of problem?
