I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just bought a brand new laptop, Lenovo Ideapad 320-151IKB. Window 10 Home should be pre installed. However on my first boot, I got the following message. "Default Boot Device Missing or boot failedInsert recovery media and hit any key Then select boot manager to choose a new boot device to boot or recovery media." I can only press OK. I search through the forum and the soluation was to fo to Boot Mode in Bios, press Enter, swap from "UEFI" to "Legacy Support". Under that Swap UEFI to legacy First. But I got another error. It still unable to load up. (As per attached jpg file) PXE-E61: Media test failure, Check cable after that, it auto restarts.

Hi MightyMouse11,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have the machine number / MTM from the sticker (ex 80X5005DUS )? You can also check it here.

If there was a preloaded OS then the BIOS defaults need not to be changed as we expect it to proceed to boot. If there is failure then best to contact the store / tech support to inform them for appropriate action. It would either be the image or an issue with the storage part specially if the drive do not show in the BIOS.

Update us how it goes.

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

My girlfriend's lenovo ideapad Z710 won't boot up past the Lenovo splash screen. She turned it on this evening and it just keeps refreshing to the Lenovo splash screen. She can't access the bios as far as I know, and she tried the CMOS battery thing as far as I'm aware and that didn't work. It won't boot into the OS and just keeps refreshing to the Lenovo splash screen. Any help would be appreciated. it's a fairly old laptop but it's needed and we can't seem to get it to boot up again.

I have Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 that won't boot. When I power it on, keyboard lights up, fan turns on and that's it. There is no Lenovo logo on display as normally was on boot. If I left it powered up nothing changes (I have left it running for several hours and nothing happened).
Only change is that in bottom left corner (where RAM slots are) it get quite warm, almost hot - warmer/hotter than when it was working normally.
What have I tried so far:
- Removed RAM (2x 8GB sticks; checked both stick with different slots; with only one stick (A and B stick only)).
When I removed one of the sticks (A or B, it does not matter; tried different slots...) and power up computer, it keeps rebooting on power up. It powers up and after 3-5 seconds reboots and keeps rebooting. If I remove both sticks and power it up with no RAM it starts but hang on black screen, keyboard lit up and no Lenovo logo.
- Tested with original RAM sticks that came with PC (2x 4GB). What ever the combination, PC keeps rebooting after 3-5 seconds.
I upgraded RAM to 2x 8GB 2 years ago and it was working fine until now. I installed 2x 4GB sticks in different PC and it is working fine.
- Removed mSATA SSD and SATA HDD. PC boots up and hangs on black screen with keyboard lit up.

A:Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK Won't boot up

If that is a recent photo of you laptop in the BIOS, then that is a very good indication that the error is probably NOT hardware related, so sending it in to Lenovo would likely not resolve your problem.     Furthermore, the error you are seeing displayed is coming from the Window Operating system, and indicates that some important system files needed for Windows to start up properly are either missing or corrupted.     Typically such errors are not fatal, and can repaired or restored fairly easily by running Startup Repair, System Restore or running other recovery tools from within Window's Recovery Environment.  The last resort would be to backup any data you have stored on the SSD, and then Reset Windows to the default state or resetting the system to the factory default sate, all of which your IT person should be able to do. The error message usually would contain more information than just "Recovery  Your PLC needs to be repaired", so any additional 0x00000??? error codes or information you can provide would help direct you in the right direction.  Best of Luck,

SlowerPhoton wrote:In my BIOS settings I disabled Fast Boot, enabled USB Boot and disabled Secure Boot. (Boot mode is UEFI.) You have set the correct options in the BIOS, but you need to boot using the "Novo" button: (1) Power off the system. (2) Plug in the USB memory stick. (3) Press the "Novo" button.  On recent systems, you use the end of a paper clip inserted into the correct hole in the side of the laptop.  Consult your "Hardware Maintenance Manual" if it is not obvious which is the correct hole. The HMM can be downloaded from the support page for your laptop. (4) On the "Novo Button Menu", select "Boot Menu". (5) On the "Boot Menu", the USB memory stick should be listed.  Select that and start booting... -- from CyberSimian in the UK

Hi,I bought a new Ideapad 320, which came with DOS based OS. I was trying to install windows 10 on that. I created a bootable USB through Rufus. But I was not able to boot from that, however I was able to boot another dell laptop with the USB. Then I created a bootable DVD and tried to boot, but again the ODD was not listed on the boot manager (this was because by default the Boot Mode was UEFI). So I changed that to Legacy and I was able to boot through DVD. I installed Windows 10 but I had problem with USB and Camera. USB was working in mass staorage mode, but when I connected wireless keyboard/mouse's receiver, USB Headset; none of them got identified. In device manager I see "Port Reset Failed" for USB. I tried updating the USB drivers but nothing worked. I think I should install windows in UEFI mode. But in UEFI mode I am not able to boot from USB. I tried creating USB for UEFI through Rufus also I tried to create that manually using Diskpart and manually copying the ISO content, but unfortunately nothing is working. I do not know whats the issue. Can someone guide me how to created bootable USB to be used to install Windows 10 PRO x64 in UEFI mode.

Hello, I need any help I can get.  I we hvae a Lenovo IdeaPad that suddenly wont boot up.  Was told there was a pop up warning about a battery that needed replaced, but unclear on WHICH battery.  When power button is pressed, the fan starts, runs for 3 seconds and shuts off.  The touchkey lights all light for a second then go out, except fo the volume touchkey.  No sound of spin up on HDD, no flicker on screen.  Have removed battery and tried to start on cord, with same result.  Cord tested good, with a clean 20.6 V  Have heard that dead/faulty CMOS battery can stop some laptops from starting, but unclear on where it is, or even a real possibility.

A:Lenovo IdeaPad z565 wont boot

I have heard that same rumour about the CMOS battery, but I've never seen a real live case, so I'm not so sure that it is true.
Your symptoms are indicative of a blown motherboard, but there is one more thing to try before concluding that.
Unplug the machine, remove the battery, then hold the power button depressed for at least 30 seconds, longer if your finger can stand it.
Then plug in and try to boot up.

Laptop is running on Windows 10. Yesterday I updated my AMD graphics driver using the update tool from AMD. After all the necessary files were downloaded and installed, I was prompted to restart and I did. Upon restart, the laptop would not boot past the Lenovo screen. The white circles that rotate always freeze and it just stays on the Lenovo screen upon every attempt to boot. I can't enter safe mode or the bios options, what can I do to fix this?  P.S. A few months ago I began having an issue with the sleep mode. When trying to enter sleep mode, the laptop would just shut down unexpectedly and almost instantly. I'm not sure what caused this issue, but I've just been avoiding it by shutting down instead of sleeping. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, or if the restart was interrupted by an unexpected shutdown.

With Windows 10 beeing released, I upgraded and it starts to make a lot of troubles: Bluescreen directly after boot or sign in, no WiFi, ... all the known stuff. So I decided last week to downgrade to Windows 7. But now, I am even in a bigger trouble:I tried to boot the Windows 7 from DVD and it crashed into Bluescreen saying: Windows Error 0xc0000225Restarting is not helping. So, i tried to go into BIOS to boot from another device, but I do not even get to BIOS or UEFI. So, thats a kind of Deadlock: I cannot boot from Harddisk because Windows Error 0xc0000225 appears and I cannot get into BIOS & UEFI because the Windows error 0xc0000225 comes before getting to BIOS. Hope this description of my current situation is understandable and you guys have a lot of ideas how to fix it. Thanks!TheGooner
