inserting an index entry into index $0 of 4441

Q: inserting an index entry into index $0 of 4441

Hi all,
I turned on a client PC this morning and this error popped up on start up of the machine, It won't boot into windows, this is all that displays on the screen.

'inserting an index entry into index $0 of 4441'

I have no idea what it means and I need to get the computer up and running as soon as possible..

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Many Thanks

Preferred Solution: inserting an index entry into index $0 of 4441

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hard drive error. Left long enough it might boot otherwise I would boot to a live CD and see if you can recover any data, then wipe the disk and test it before using again.

There is 2 other errors now, the ordinal 459 could not be located in the dynamic link libary urlmon.dll & BHO.DLL but they werent in the chkdsk errors in the cmd

The answer may already be here but I couldn't find it.
I am adding data to an index and then sorting. The sort routine will insert a row when the data needs to be moved up. I have other tables and information on the same sheet and when this sort occurs, the inserted row causes the information to be split.

My code to sort is:
Rows("6:" & [EnterSymbol].Rows.Count + 3).Sort Key1:=Range("B6"), Order1:=xlAscending
Application.ScreenUpdating = True

Is there something I can add to this code to prevent insert? Or do I just have to live with it and try to relocate all the data on the sheet?

I should add that each cell item (symbol in this case) is related to the adjacent cell. ie B6, C6 must be kept together on the sort. The code above does what I need except it inserts when a new symbol falls within the already established index range.

I previously reported a slow (ing ) computer. In the process to find the problem I ran Chkdsk. At 22% of stage 2 it paused. Then reported' "deleting an index entry from index 0$ of file 53065. It ran again and then reported it was deleting a total of three files, something about blocked content, cookies and something else. Then it quickly finished and disappeared. What happened? What does this mean. I was thinking that something is failing. I ran (now deleted) System Mechanic 7. On one of its scans it mentioned that something on the hard drive was not right.

I deleted some programs, ran a AV scan, but the system is still slow. I noticed that when playing music it now is not as clear and has stutters a small bit.

Just ran the Chkdsk, paused at 22% but now no messages until it completed. Then it stated it was recovering two orphan files and this time ran stage 3 and checked a USN journal.

Is there something here.

So I may have a hard drive problem, a virus problem or both. Winpatrol keeps appearing to tell me that notepad and registry editor attempting to share a file association. Hope this makes sense as the computer is fast becoming a hostile object.

I am trying to mark words for an index in WORD 2007 and whenever I do that or go to a marked entry I get the error message: 'That property is not available on that object. in Microsoft word'. This happens also with older documents that I have indexed and which used to work well. I am running Windows vista.

Now - I saw that this exact problem was reported by gregorythorn in a previous thread that was closed (techguy.org/930701) with no response. (he was using Windows 7. all else the same).

I hope someone can help... this is VERY frustrating.

When i boot my notebook, the scandisk starts (because the comp was hard shut down a few days prior, because of a complete system freeze)

The scandisk runs and says it must delete an index entry:
"Deleting an index entry fron index $0 of the file 24568"

This line appears a couple times a second running down the screen, after waiting half an hour nothing has changed that line still keeps coming back...

I reboot and skip the scandisk at the beginig and it works fine, though i would like to fix this problem at the begining...

Any suggetsions?

I would appreciate any assistance I could get, it seems I have an issue...Thank you so much in advance!

Computer is running slowly but seems to be processing constantly, freezing up when opening certain on-line sites. This has been occuring for a few days and I downloaded and ran TFC and Malwarebytes without any success. Run AVG free also. Tonight it froze and I powered it down at the power strip and upon restarting it went to a light blue screen and indicated the following (this is just parts of what the screen displayed)....

"File is dirty"
"Deleting index entry...listed multiple file #'s"
"CHKDSK is recovering lost files"

I have a laptopo with wireless Dlink dwl-612, can see the wireless network, but won't connect,

My Router Dlink 614 (not sure) it gives me choice of 1 - 4

Destop can see wireless and can connect,

I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with my laptop wireless connection

A:Help on Index Key

The numbering is just to select one of four keys, obviously the one machine's wireless starts at 0 instead of 1. You need to configure a matching key for the encryption on each machine. Are you selecting the same type of encryption all around, i.e. WEP or WPA? It sounds like you don't have the correct key in the laptop.

I found out that IE5 has something called index.dat files that keep track of where you go on the internet. I have upgraded to IE7 but was wondering if there is a way to remove all those old IE5 files that were logging my searches. The files are hard to find but they are there. I downloaded a free program that clears some of them but it didn't remove them all and I'd like to get rid of them permanently. Can anyone please help with this?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Index.datMy advice would be to leave such files alone, they are trivial, IMO (and I left my paranoia back in 1971 when I left the university)...but it's your system and I've been wrong many, many times .Louis

tell more about your laptop, cpu, ram, harddrive size and free space on the drive.

Index.dat are files hidden on your computer that contain all of the Web sites that you have ever visited. Every URL, and every Web page is listed there. Not only that but all of the email that has been sent or received through Outlook or Outlook Express is also being logged. The file names and locations depend on what version of Internet Explorer you have.

According to Microsoft, these files are used to cache visited Web sites to help speed up the loading of Web pages in Internet Explorer. Obviously this cannot be the case because when you clear the Temporary Internet Files the "index.dat" files remain behind and continue to grow. If you delete or clear the Temporary Internet Files, there is absolutely no need to index the URL cache because those files no longer exist.

You can delete it but it will be recreated the next time you use your computer. The easiest way to delete it is by using utilities such as ccleaner.

Hello everyone,

Is there a way to delete Explorer's Index.dat file? Perhaps not delete it, but have explorer begin a new one. While it is not taking a huge amount of space on my drive, it is space that I would use for something else. While I have been an Explorer user for years, I think I have just about had it, and I am considering switching to Firefox.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

At work we always run into spyware problems. Going around to users (there are over 1,000 users) removing it with Spybot or Microsoft's product seems like a long way around this problem. I'm thinking of somehow making a .bat file that will execute in their logon script that deletes all temporary files and cookies. Seemingly that would help a little bit, but from what I'm reading that information is stored in index.dat anyway. So every time you clear the cache as recommended by many, isn't the information still there in index.dat which would then cause problems with spyware? Also, does this file hold network settings that if I edited/deleted it, it would cause problems? Hopefully somebody knows where I'm going with this.

Oh, and I have the .bat file pretty much written, except for users that use XP...does anyone know the syntax for the current user? I need that to get to the appropriate directory. (IE to get to C:\Documents and Settings\CurrentUser\Cookies)

Have set up my web page using ftp and all seems ok. Loaded some pictures and they showed up but I had to click each one separately to see them; this was supposed to be an album that advanced automatically (using xydot as the album maker).

Thought it might be due to no files labeled "index.htm." So went back to ftp and chose the first picture and renamed it index.htm. Now all I get is gobblygook.

If you like looking at gobblygook then my web page is:

index.htm is usually the extension on the web address for a home page. Mine is rselby.com/index.html

Pictures are case sensitive when you up load them. Make your the script or tag is exactly the same as the picture name. Change it back to the way it was.

Index.htm has nothing to do with the album changing from one picture to the next. That problem is in the photo part of the script.

I have a thread on the OBS forum at https://obsproject.com/forum/threads...ng-bsod.38646/ , but for time sake I'll put an abridged version below:

So my new laptop came in today and I got everything set up on it. Keep in mind everything I'm using here works on my Win7 desktop. The "new" laptop is a HP Elitebook 2560p with a refurb edition of Windows 7 Professional X64. It has an i5-2640m Dual Core Hyperthreading Processor with 4GB of RAM.

I've completely reinstalled OBS, I installed the proper Logi C270 driver, and I uninstalled and reinstalled the STK1160 driver module (Sabrent USB-AVCPT device).

If I try to PIP the C270 and the onboard camera, the 270 will not go active and it only shows the onboard camera. So I guess those 2 are conflicting some way or another. I've tried different USB port configurations (this laptop only has 3 ports).

If I check two sources where one is the USB-ATV Capture module, I get a BSOD. I don't understand why it would work solo but not together. Especially since the same everything works on my desktop.

Onboard: works
Logitech C270: works
USB Capture: works

Onboard + Logitech C270: Shows onboard, C270 goes blank
Onboard + USB Capture: BSOD
Logitech C270 + USB Capture: BSOD

(I meant Inbox.dbx, not index.dbx - sorry)

Something strange happened about 10mins ago and I'm stumped (not unusual!).

I loaded up OE5 (Windows 2000) and it reported problems picking up email. I closed it down, loaded it up again and it collected my new email fine - but, my inbox was empty and it should have a few hundred messages (not got round to sorting them yet!).

Looking in my message store reveals that I now have a new inbox.dbx file ("inbox (1).dbx"). My old file is still there but it's not being used.

I can't import it either - I copied the mail folder elsewhere, deleted the new inbox file from it and tried to import the old one. No messages appear and another new inbox file is created.

I'm stumped. I don't want to lose the messages and I've not performed a backup for about 7 days.

Is there anyway to get at these emails again?

Please help - I know you can

Best regards

A:OE5 Disappearing Index.dbx

Have you tried to just to rename the old one to "inbox.dbx"? By the way, why are you leaving messages in your inbox? That's like looking at your mail in your mailbox (the one outside your house) and then letting it pile up. You should delete a message after you read it--it doesn't actually get deleted, it goes to a "deleted" folder. Then, if you want to sort mail, then you go to your deleted folder and sort it there, but don't leave hundereds of messages in your inbox, especially since, as you've noted here, the inbox is prone to more errors like your experiencing here, so it's a bad place to store your old e-mails.

Hi! Here's what I've got:

HP m8034n:
Vista Ultimate 32-Bit
AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+
400 GB HDD
nvidia geforce 6150SE/nforce 430 (yeah yeah i know)

This computer originally came with 2 gigs of ram , but it was a little sluggish because vista eats ram like kirstie alley eats pie. The included ram was PC2-4200. The extra gig was PC2-5300, but of course operates at the speed of the slower ram...

my question is, after the ram was installed and detected (today)...my vista experience index went down in 3 places!

Memory went from 5.9 to 4.5
Gaming Graphics went from 3.0 to 2.5
Aero Graphics went from 3.4 to 2.5

The brand of the ram was super talent, got it from newegg. I just find it very weird and was wondering if this is just vista being vista or something new memory did. Thanks, and nice forums ya got here!
