T460s audio control glitch after undocking

Q: T460s audio control glitch after undocking

I have encountered an issue with the volume control on my T460S that occurs when I remove my thinkpad from the docking station hot. The volume control goes all glitchy, flickering between ON and MUTE rapidly and popping the volume monitor (pictured) up in the top left of the screen on top of everything. Hitting <Escape> briefly dismisses it, but it comes back randomly. When I return the laptop to the docking station (hot) the problem goes away. I've checked the Realtek driver, and it appears to be the most recent one. Any ideas? Windows 10Pro, T460s

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hey everybody,

I have had my Dell Latitude D820 for about 2 and a half years now. Just today I went to click on the control panel and something is obviously wrong. When I attempt to access the control panel in any of the numerous ways my desktop goes blank, only showing my background. The desktop icons and taskbar dissapear for about 3 seconds and then reapear. This would be fine if the control panel would then open but that is not the case. After the icons and taskbar return, the control panel has not come up.

I ran ad-aware, spybot S&D, antivir, norton, and CCleaner to clean my registry and none of these programs have found anything. I attempted to go into my registry to see if it was similar to the problem many have been having where there is no control panel button and the computer spits a "not administration" error. Unfortunately I was not able to fix it. Other than that my computer seems fine. The only issue is my control panel is not accessible.

Does anyone have any clue as to what could be causing this? Thanks in advance!

I went to Control Panel - Admin. Tools to use Computer Management to change drive letters so I could install another partition on my D: without having my other drive letters changed automaticaly.
The Computer Management icon is gone and I can't find it.
Any ideas on what part of my computer to beat on? Any help appreciated and I'll buy the next round.
This is low priority as I can do most everything EXCEPT find Comp. Mangage.

You can access most system management tools by right-clicking on the "My Computer" icon (on the desktop or in the Start Menu) and selecting Manage from the pop up menu. This opens the management console which includes the Disk Management tool (and other handy tools like the defragmenter, log viewers, etc.)Or, you can access the Disk Management tool directly by typing diskmgmt.msc into the Run... window and then clicking the OK button.

Ok, I click on "Start/Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/Rearrange items on your hard disk to make programs run faster" link in Control Panel. Instead of it opening to the defrag window, it opens to "My Computer/Local Disk (C:)/Documents and Settings/(a folder that uses my name)". I have no clue why it does this, except that I guess the path has somehow been altered. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thank you.

A:Control Panel Glitch

That's odd that it should come up that way, I'm not quite sure why that would be or how to fix it.
You should be able to bring up the Defragmenter by going to Start > Run > dfrg.msc
Or alternatively you could right click on My Computer, select Manage, and pick Defrag from the left panel.

If none of that works there may be a problem with defrag snap-in.

I listen to the podcasts on the regular. One in particular I like to re listen to. I noticed that certain episodes have become "glitchy" (if that is the right term). It happens through iTunes and Windows Media Player. I have isolated one of the glitches, but can't post a mp3. I have no idea how to fix it or if it is even fixable. One thing I know it is the mp3 itself and nothing else.

Hi all,

May I know how to do I set the IRQ to my Firewire?
I am holding on to Focusrite 24PRO soundcard via Firewire connection.

As my motherboard do not have any Firewire inlet, I decided to purchase Belkin 5U504 Firewire PCI-E card.

During this period of time, I am experiencing very bad audio glitch.

I had requested support from Focusrite and they mentioned this:

Quote:
FireWire "IEEE 1394" Controller is still sharing an IRQ with the following devices:

IRQ 16 Intel(R) G33/G31/P35/P31 Express Chipset PCI Express Root Port - 29C1
IRQ 16 Intel(R) ICH9 Family PCI Express Root Port 1 - 2940
IRQ 16 Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
IRQ 16 Intel(R) ICH9 Family PCI Express Root Port 5 - 2948
IRQ 16 Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller
IRQ 16 NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

Will the rest of the items connect to other IRQ if I remove them? Can it be done this way?

I need this help urgently tho.

Hi pboong,

Have you tried updating the intel drivers for your PC?
Are you running the latest drivers (Windows-7 compatible recommended) for your Belkin expansion card?

Edit:

Just did a search for your expansion card and there appears to be no W7 drivers on the Belkin site. Could you try running the driver on the CD in compatibility mode for Windows XP or 2000?

Also have a look at this thread - may solve your issue otherwise I am unable to find any Windows 7 driver for your card

Hi and welcome to the forum .

A good place to start would be to ensure that all your drivers are up to date and that all your hardware is Windows 7 compatible (which I am sure it is).

Please could you also fill in your System Specs under User CP and tell us what sound card you are using?

Hello there!I just bought a Thinkpad T460s for DJ and audio production purposes and I am having some latency issues I cannot resolve. While the overall latency as measured by the LatencyMon are generally low (well bellow 1ms), there as some spikes, approximately once or twice in a period of ten minutes causing audio dropouts and rather audible sound stutter making the laptop unsuitable for the work it is intended for. The LatencyMon suggest that the problem is caused by CPU throttling and I should search for a BIOS update. However the problem persists even with latest BIOS and drivers from Lenovo, and with Intel Speedstep disabled and the processor clocking constantly on 2.30Ghz. I should note that I have installed all the latest driver and BIOS updates from the Lenovo website, running on High Performance Power Plan (with all power saving options disabled). The drivers that are pointed from LatencyMon to cause the problem are mainly are ACPI.sys and Wdf01000.sys with latencies well above the desired 1ms area. The programm I am using for audio playback is Traktor Pro 2.11, with Native Instruments Audio 2 USB audio card using low latency ASIO drivers, and the machine is running Windows 10 64-Bit.  Hope someone here can help, or had the same issues and fixed them. Even if someone from Lenovo support can suggest a BIOS version which would be good enough to do a rollback would be really helpfull.

Hello, I've been having this problem for a while and can't seem to find any solution for it.I'm running a Thinkpad T460s in dual boot, with Windows 10 and Ubuntu. The problem is that the windows instalation doesn't have Digital Audio Output listed in the sound output devices and as such I can't hear any sound from my TV when I've got hdmi plugged in. I've tried everything, reinstalling drivers, updating with other drivers from intel, even resetting windows but noting seems to work. I'm not sure what details I can provide here in order to help solve this issue so I'll edit as requests come in. UPDATE: It might be a windows issue, since one of my friends has a T460 that had no problems untill he opened it one day and the digital audio outputs suddenly disappeared. Also HDMI audio works for both of us on Linux. Any advice would be really appreciated.

I have an HP Pavilion with both front and back panel audio I/O; the front panel has only mic in, headphones out, and line in. The back panel has speaker outputs, L,C, and R.

Since I changed the machine from XP to 7, I have been unable to maintain audio from both simultaneously. specifically, I used to be able to have the speakers working, connected at the back, and simply connect the headphones in the front and listen to them. Both could be on simultaneously or, usually, i would turn off the speaker to listen on the headset. Now, with W7's new set-up dialogues, I can not find a way to keep both ports on the at the same time. Whichever I set as the priority is the only one that works. So either I plug the headphones into the back and unplug the speakers, or I have to plug the speakers into the front.

I must be missing something, though I have explored the issue several times, over nearly an hour, trying all sorts of things. The set-up dialogue seems to prevent success. I would be most grateful for a detailed solution.

Thanks.

Hi everyone. I'm new to these parts, and thought I'd give this forum a try..

Now, on to the problem.

When I type anything on my PS/2 keyboard, be it offline or online, it will periodically cause my sound to glitch or skip. There is also occasional lag when typing in general, though not severe. (All of these problems are REPRODUCIBLE.)

I have tried the following::
Used two different PS/2 Keyboards. (Both continued to glitch.)
Reinstalled Windows 7 RC TWICE..(Erased my hard-drive before each install. No results.)
Installed a variety of different audio drivers.. (Both from Windows Update and HP. Nothing has worked so far.)
Turned off all sound enhancements. (No dice.)
Tested the speakers on a different computer. (They worked fine.)
Updated my BIOS. (Nada.)

--As you can guess, I'm at my wits end trying to figure this out. Though there ARE a few people online with a similar problem, they are few and far between. This seems to be a rare occurance for most folks.. (Oh lucky me. :-( ) The only solutions offered for this problem, to my knowledge, are either getting a new sound card, installing a USB keyboard, or changing a BIOS setting to "register" USB keyboards, which somehow magically fixes the PS/2 input.. (Pretty strange, I know, and I am quite sure my BIOS has no such option anyway.)

Looked back through the last four days of posts and didn't see this one. So far everything is running great with SP2, except during Shutdown/Restart. I get the "Saving your settings" dialogue and the usual 'exiting Windows' sound. Then, when the screen is blue (before the signal to the monitor is cut) there's a high-pitched screech that lasts 2-4 seconds. Otherwise everything works properly.

I did notice that it appears to occur when the floppy is accessed during Shutdown. I don't know if that's Windows checking the drive or NAV. I'm having a seperate issue with NAV Live Update, and NAV should have been completely disabled earlier while I was trying to fix it, but the sound still happened during every reboot.

This only began after installing SP2 and is consistent. I've started turning my speakers down if I'm going to reboot, which thankfully I don't do often. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

I thought that it was the headset, so I tried it on another PC, just to make sure. On my friend's, it seems to work perfectly fine with no distortion. I have tried installing the new realtek audio driver and numerous other things, but nothing seems to work and my headset still remains distorted. Speakers however seem to work fine on my PC. Hello everyone

I'm Bidi, this is my first post in this forum.
I was wondering if I can get help with an issue.
It's been a long time, probably 1 year or 2, with the same issue..
There is this occasional audio glitch that happens every now and then, whether it was audio playback, or a video I'm watching online or offline.., the video also glitches that same split second, and then it plays as normal without any audio delay; video and audio stay in sync.
Also it glitches several times when the clock hits 12.00 am, and that's when it hits the hardest, so I always wait till a minute passes and then continue on watching/working.., like after 12.01 am..

Apologies in advance for the long post but I just had to tell everyone about this one......

OK, so I recently upgraded to VISTA (Home Premium). I did a clean install and spent a few days getting my software and drivers installed. All good so far and I was actually quite happy with VISTA (I still am really despite the audio issue). All my programs and devices worked and I couldn't have been happier.....until I started listening to my MP3's in iTunes. The audio playback would stutter and skip every 15 or so seconds. As a big music fan with quite a healthy MP3 collection I started to get anxious. OK, so I checked my Audio driver (AC97 ALC850) and put the latest driver on (no difference). I also updated the Nforce 4 AMD SLI chipset drivers (as well as GEFORCE video drivers) but still no difference. Initially I thought the problem was just iTunes related and I spent a long time tweaking settings within QuickTime, etc. After a few fruitless days I checked some other programs and discovered the problem was affecting all audio software programs (Nero Showtime and WMP). Thinking the issue was CPU related I removed lots of services and programs, still no joy. Having done a lot of googling on the subject of audio glitches in VISTA I was starting to think the issue was one of those bugs that would be fixed by SP1 or something and I was just about ready to go back to my XP installation and carry on with that......except I decided to go into Device Manager, right click sound and... A:Audio jack disconnecting/reconnecting glitch

Sounds like a problem, either with the front panel assembly on the case or the wiring/connection to the motherboard from the front panel. If your case, like many, came with two audio connectors (AC97 and HD Audio), you should be using the HDAudio. However, if it has both and the HDAudio is what you are now using, try the AC97 to see if it makes a difference. The HDAudio has sensing (when a headset is plugged in or out) that the AC97 does not have.

If this is not the issue, please expand on the problem.

Just started recently: At seemingly random intervals, the audio levels for certain programs will dip to an extremely low level. I just experienced it with VLC player and had to go into the volume mixer. The bar was lowered to about 10% of all the other volume levels.

It also happens to the system beep. In my mIRC chat client I use system beeps as notifications that someone has mentioned me or sent me a message. I can't figure out a way to fix this. "System sounds" is still at full volume in the mixer, but I get very low, muffled volume levels for my beeps. Moving the slider up and down in the mixer sometimes produces beeps of a more appropriate volume, but it never persists and I always end up with the same old quiet beeps.

This may seem like a trivial thing, but as I said, I use system beeps to alert me, and it's started affecting other programs like VLC as well. Restarting my machine solves the problem, but that is an extremely inconvenient "fix." Anyone have an idea of what could be causing this?

Hello All-knowing and All-wise guys & gals!
I'm at an impasse with my IBM TP20 laptop hardware, as it is functioning rather rudely in that it wants to destroy my audio coming through my outboard sound card. I'm getting those nasty digital scratches, drop-outs and glitches, and the only time it happens, is when I change window views or launch other applications. If I leave my hands off the controls and let Media Player show me its plethora of visual images in full view, all is well, but dare I minimize that screen, and I get digital mayhem! I have spent hours checking my entire system, including harware requirements, software compatibility, resources, et al to no avail. I have also used the above mentioned harware on another PC running the same OS and software with no problems whatsoever, so I have come to the conclusion that there is something amiss in the harware configuration files on my laptop. Hi,

Everytime after I logon to Windows XP, the screen will do this weird thing where the start menu, taskbars, etc. will flash silver to a box-y, classic Windows look, and then after this 2-second stutter, everything on screen will revert back to normal. This has been going on for about 2 weeks, and the screen flash used to happen a half hour or so after I turned on my computer. More recently, though, it's been happening a few minutes after I turn on my computer.

The glitch wouldn't be too annoying except that whenever it happens, the sound just stops working. There's no way to adjust volume, and in the audio properties, it always says "No Audio Device." I usually just fix this by going into Admin Tools and starting the audio service, but is there a way to maybe stop the glitch period?

Thanks.

Hello, I've been able to narrow down this issue to the exact pin point of where the problem is coming from.

I noticed a few weeks back, that when I'm listening to music (in Winamp), and the Desktop Slideshow Picture changes, a small glitch happens in the playing music. I have my Desktop Background Images to change every 1 minute, and I've noticed it happening right at that moment the picture changes. It doesn't happen every single time the picture changes, but lately it has been happening about 75% of the time (for every 3 out of 4 picture changes, the music twitches a bit).

I never changed any settings in Winamp nor did I download a new version of Winamp. I'm assuming it's some glitch in Windows from maybe a Windows update or something. This never happened before a few weeks ago.

Has anyone else experienced this?
And what can I do to fix this?

Thanks!

I also want to point out that this happens only when the Desktop Slideshow Picture changes Automatically!!!

I tried to change the Desktop Picture in the Slideshow manually (Right click Desktop -> Next desktop Background) many times, and this issue never happens manually; Only Automatically.

Hi everyone!

So about a month ago I built a new PC using a combination of new parts and left over parts from my old build. The part list is listed below. Parts from my old PC are denoted with an *. I want to note that I had no problems with my previous build, and all the hardware worked flawlessly (no BSODs, no errors, etc).

Case: NZXT s340
Motherboard: Z97 GAMING 5
GPU: GTX 960*
CPU: i7-4790k
RAM: 16GBs RAM*
SSD: 1 128GB SSD (Windows 10 installed on SSD)
HDD: 1 1TB 7200RPM HDD* and 1 2TB 7200RPM HDD*
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 watt

What happens is that the PC will randomly freeze on whatever frame was present at the time, the audio will glitch out and loop, and then my second monitor will turn black like it isn't receiving video. I then have to manually power off (hard reset) and then restart the PC. This doesn't occur often (maybe once every couple of days), but since I work from this PC, it's a big annoyance for me haha.

There is no BSOD or anything either. I've download BlueScreen Viewer and there's absolutely no error logs, reports, etc. I even have the option enabled to generate dump files, but still nothing.

What I've tried:
I've checked all my temperatures and everything is good. Everything is also running at stock clocks.
I've reinstalled Windows 10 twice on the SSD.
I've ran MemTest86 for 7 hours numerous times and no errors. I've also re-seated my RAM sticks.

I'm kind of at a lost here.

Thanks guys!

DTS Audio Control Panel Audio Enhancements dont stay off. I turned them off, but when i restart the music sounds like it has re-enabled the enhancments, although when i open the DTS Control Panel it is still unchecked. I know its on because then I tick the check box the sound quality does not change, but when I untick it it changes again. This happens everytime i restart. I would like it if the Audio Enhancements stay off. Its frustrating to check uncheck the box everytime i restart the laptop. Thank You!

A:DTS Audio Control Panel Audio Enhancements dont stay off

Hi @GX9 ,Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions. I have looked into your issue about your HP Spectre 360x and issues with  DTS Audio Control Panel Audio Enhancements not staying off. When the system restarts it loads default settings for hardware. I would uninstall the  DTS Audio Control Panel Audio Software from Programs and Features to see if this helps you out. Please let me know how this goes. Thanks.

First, I extend my love to you, sevenforum!

My laptop specs:

HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 Entertainment Notebook
i5-3210M processor CPU @ 2.5Ghz
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel SCSI disk
system memory 8GB
NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M graphics

I purchased this laptop about two months ago and I am shocked to discover that there is already a problem with the sound.

Whenever I am watching or listening to anything with audio -- iTunes, Youtube, Windows Media Player, DVDs, etc. I have noticed that the sound coming from the computer (whether built-in speakers, external speakers or headphones) will experience occasional "glitching". It sounds like a brief buzzy stutter "Brrrrr" that lasts half a second and happens about every minute or more.

I've conducted all the usual system scans and troubleshooting, double-checked that my drivers are up to date and all Windows updates installed, defragmented the disk and prayed to the computer gods for mercy.

Upon reading other posts about audio buzzes, namely this one, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the audio drivers. On my laptop those drivers are listed as:

- IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
- Intel Display Audio

This has not solved the problem.

I'm not a very experienced computer tinkerer but I'm not a novice user either. I would be grateful for any suggestions you guys might offer for potential steps I can take to either resolve or better understand this audio problem.

If you scan through this section you will see a lot posts with the same or similar problems, so its not just "your" PC.

There have been some problems caused by Wi-Fi, so just for testing, disable the wi-fi and just play an audio file that is already on the PC or a commercial audio CD and see if you get the same problem or if the symptoms change.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad x61s with a docking station. Is there any way that I can disconnect it from the dock without turning it off?

Thanks.

A:Undocking w/o turning off

You can for USB docking ports
Usually by clicking "disconnect" on the connected USB device icon near your system clock

But for the ones mounted at the back (or underneath) and usually clipped in. No

On http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mobile/display/a4-roundup-2_33.html I can read

"The docking station is connected via Toshiba?s exclusive connector. It is very handy that you can disconnect the station ?on the fly?, i.e. without powering the notebook down. To do so, you should use a special lever and look at the indicator ? when it goes out, the station can be undocked."

but the manual tell you to turn off computer before docking and undocking.

What is the right, can you do hot docking or not???

A:Libretto U100 hot undocking

Hi

Well, I don?t know exactly how to handle the undocking procedure on the Libretto but a friend of mine uses a Tecra with a docking station and he don?t turn off the notebook for undocking the notebook.
But maybe it?s is another case on the Libretto.
I would recommend following the guideline the user manual and turn-off the notebook if you want to remove the docking station.

You are on the safe side if you will follow the instruction in the user manual.

Hi All, I have a T440s in an Ultradock with the monitor closed and three external monitors connected (1 HDMI, 1 DVI, 1 VGA). Everytime that i undock the laptop and open the display, the display stays black.  This doesn't seem to happen if i put the laptop to Sleep, undock the laptop, and then turn the machine back on.  The only solution after undocked is to do a hard shut-off (losing any open data) and then turn the laptop back on. I've used the Lenovo Updates and Drivers application as well as the support website to validate that the Intel HD Graphics drivers are on the latest version. Any help is appreciated!

Hi,

I work in the helpdesk and am having trouble resolving an issue for a co-worker. I asked him to best describe the issue and here is his response....

"I will undock it from my desk, close the lid, take it to a meeting where it?s left undocked and unplugged, open the lid, andit?ll bluescreen within a few minutes of the screen coming back up"

Its a Lenovo T430 running Windows 7 (32 bit) and SP1. There is no minidump folder in the Windows directory (I followed the tutorial on how to create one but it still doesnt create one). I ran the System Update and updated the drivers that were available. I am not sure what else to try here.

I have had past success resolving issues by getting help from the gurus on here, so if you might have a suggestion on what to try, please let me know. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

A:BSOD when undocking laptop

Hello Kevin mate it seems like that machine has a real problem if it is not giving up those dump files.

If you haven't already can you run these for starters

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html< if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2
then these if no go

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

ADW download from bleeping computerdelete any rubbish found with the malware scans

(with ADW ifyou are running Kaspersky it will throw it up as malware just overrideKaspersky by ignoring it or disabling it for the duration of the scan)

A user of mine is telling me she gets a BSoD often when she wakes up her laptop from sleep, or if she tries to undock it. My free tools for analyzing the dump file aren't giving me anything useful, so I figured I'd post it here in case someone with better tools would give it a shot.

Thanks!

I've just had a quick look and the dump is blaming memory corruption, it would be worth doing some memory tests while you wait for the BSOD folks to take a good look at the dump.

When I come to work I dock my laptop, lid closed, press the power button on the dock and after a few seconds I'm ready to work. When I leave for home I undock and put in my bag. It takes me an hour to reach home during which time the laptop is in my bag, not being used. When I get home it is hot since it didn't go into sleep. At home when I leave it for a while, it goes to sleep (plugged is 15 minutes or unplugged 30 minutes) 1. Why won't it go to sleep after I undock?2. Why won't it go to sleep after an idle timeout wake timers are disabled when unplugged and powercfg -requets shows an empty list. How do I fix this situation? I know I can undock, open the lid (wait for it to come on), then close again, but this is tedious and a lot of times I'm in a hurry and forget.

Hello all. We are seeing this issue on a handful of T440's. When the user has the laptop docked and hard wired his network drives are connected and accessable. When they undock the laptop the drives is still showing but when they try to open any home drive folders they get the error " This file is currently not available for use onthis computer". The users are connected to our network wireless before they undock so it would seem that the connection to the home folders would still be there. Any help would be great. thanks, Matt

I used to use ThinkVantage's Access Connections to manage my network connection profiles on my Thinkpad. I just recently uninstalled it because I decided to just rely on the Vista has natively.

Since our office requires static IP, I set that up at the LAN properties.

Everything works fine when I start from a clean boot. It's when I undock and redock to the docking station that problem starts.

I lose the static IP configuration. Instead Vista assigns:
IP: 169.254.77.37 (supposed to be 10.11.2.xxx)
Subnet: 255.255.0.0 (supposed to be 255.255.254.0)
Gateway: blank
DNS: correct

I now find myself having to do a reboot everytime I just need to undock and go to a 30 minute meeting when I used to be able to undock and redock without any problems whatsoever.

Why does Vista assign this random IP when it is hard configured?

How can I solve this problem?

Thanks.

A:Vista loses IP config when undocking

I suggest re-installing the working solution, perhaps that's why it's there.

Could someone please explain to me why I cannot get an ip or connection when I plug my ethernet cable directly into my laptop. I usually use a docking station. However, I have security issues so I thought I would see what happened when I undocked.

Also, when I am docked I get an ip address for a linksys router as an IP. I don't have any wireless routers connected and the radio on my machine is disabled. Any ideas?

A:no ethernet after undocking and connecting to laptop

I am not sure of the connection between security issues and undocking! But have you tried re-docking the laptop to see if internect connection is re-established, assuming it was working before you undocked??

while undocked, have you checked Device Manager to see that the network adapter was present and had no driver issues.?? also did you click on Start >Settings> network connections to see that the Local Area Connection was listed with a red X on it??

HiI have massive problems here with my setup:2 screens connected to WiGig 40A6. 1 HDMI, 1 DPX1 Yoga 1st Gen (20FQ) freezes every time when I undock. Freeze means: only possible way to get out of this is the power button. It seems, that it is not always the same:Worst case is, if both screens are connected. Then it freezes at every undock.A bit better is, if only DP is connected.A lot better is, if only HDMI screen is connected. I tried a fresh Win10 64 Bit install with all windows updates.I tried with the drivers on the X1 Yoga site at lenovoI tried with newest drivers for WiGig, from Intel, with newest driver for Intel HD graphics 520 from IntelI tried with older driver for Intel HD graphics 520 from X1 Yoga site at lenovoI did not find any working configuration. Undocking (and also rebooting, or shut down) is not possible without freeze. Does a working  configuration exist?Thank you for any suggestion!Roger

The August 3rd Troubleshooting guide says in order to undock you must "Click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar".  Where is that icon?  I have the Thunderbolt icon, but it does not offer any remove option.  The link is:http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=11122586&docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c0...In that same document it links to the Zbook dock white paper (4AA6-5088EEW) which says to just pull the cable out, "When removing the HP Elite Dock with Thunderbolt 3 or HP ZBook Dock with Thunderbolt 3 from your HP notebook or HP ZBook Mobile Workstation, it is recommended to unplug the dock first, wait until the Thunderbolt icon (see Figure 3) in the system tray is gone, and then put the notebook or mobile workstation into Standby, Hibernate, Restart or Shut-down state".Which one is correct?

A:Zbook Dock: Proper Undocking

Hi, Safely remove will remove the thunderbolt icon therefore you have to remove the dock first. Please click the arrow up, you should be able to see remove hardware (USB, Thunderbolt ....).                      Regards.
