no sound & error message

Q: no sound & error message

Hi there,

My friend recently came to me and asked me to help him with regards to his laptop.
Apparently he was setting it up for the Internet wirelessly and then the sound went. Now I have looked in device manager and the audio controller has a yellow question mark next to it.

Also another problem is that, on switching the laptop on and arriving on the desktop, a box flashes up which says the following:

Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\M3PLUGIN.DLL
The Specified module could not be found

I suspect he has been downloading things and this is a consequence.

Please help me on his behalf

Regards fatheroflies.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Compaq Presario SR1303WM Desktop running XP home edition and just recently installed a Linksys wireless adapter. I had some headaches with the adapter setup but I've been off and running for a while now and all of the sudden today I started getting a constant error message sound - but no error message along with it. I thought that it may be associated in some way with the adapter considering I had been getting some error messages concerning the adapter upon start up but I never really had any issues. I've tried many different things - changed some of the start up programs, cleaned the registry, ran a virus scan, etc. and nothing has worked thus far and I'm about to pull my hair out.

Go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager are there any devices with yellow flags? If so, they needs to have drivers installed.
Go to Start/Run and type chkdsk C: /F and presss enter. In the Command Prompt type a Y for Yes and restart the computer. Check Disk will run at next bootup to fix any file errors. When the computer comes back up, go to Start/Run and type SFC /scannow put the XP CD in and it will replace any missing files. If this still continues, you may be infected. Was having problems with a game and as part of the trouble shooting process, ran "dxdiag". As soon as I opened the diagnostic a window opened..error: problem getting extra sound info". I ran all the sound checks via the sound tabs in "dxdiag" and there were no problems with any of the checks.

Was surprised at the message because I have no problems with the sound on my system. I checked Device Manager(no yellow !'s) for either the sound card or the HD audio device; I looked into the system information and both said OK.

I have a Asus Xonar D2X soundcard with driver 7.12.8.1793 which is the latest one Asus has. I have DirectX 11 on my system with a couple of games I'm playing that loaded DirectX 9.0c.

Can someone give some direction as to what should be done? I suppose it would be easier if there was an error message somewhere other then in "dxdiag", but there isn't. I am not good with configuring soundcards and some of the technical terms used to configure them so I do some help in that regard. Thanks.

A:Sound error message in dxdiag

I have the same card, running the same driver version and I get that too.

But I assumed it was a little glitch just from using CarvedInsides Uni drivers. I don't have any other problems in general as well. Being that I rarely ever pop open dxdiag, I just ignore it. lol

May just be a little glitch with our card and those particular drivers, be it CI's modified ones, or the Asus default ones.

I have Windows XP Pro, SP2.

I start up Sound Recorder and make a recording. When I hit the stop button up pops an error message saying, "Not enough memory available to complete this operation. Quit one or more applications to increase available memory, and then try again." "OK"

This message happens even when I have no apps open. I have 3 GB of memory.

The thing is that I can hit the OK button making the message go away and I can complete the recording/saving process. So the error message doesn't mean anything but it is disconcerting. Does anybody know what I can do to make this message not show?

Thanks,

I sounds like you either have a corrupt set of waves or they are missing for some reason. You can aquire another set from Here
Note: There are three selections depending on what selection of waves you wish. Of course the largest download will contain the largest selection.

Follow instructions at site for setup and install.

Hope that solve the problem let us know.

For the past week I've been getting the "device disconnect" sound in windows 7, but no error message displays. It happens most while I'm playing games such as BF2. The mouse will quit working for about a second while the sound is made, and then control returns. It also happens at other times (while surfing), but not as often as when I am playing games. It does not happen unless the mouse is moving. It is random. It does occur twice together, but most often occurs as a single error. The keyboard still accepts input during the error. Any ideas?

So, I installed Spyware Blaster, Spybot SD, X-Cleaner, and Microsoft's ASW program on top of the CCleaner and AdAware, AVG, and ZoneAlarm Pro.

Dear Anyone.

I like writing music, was usingXP where everything worked fine, then got told to update to 7 as XP wasn't supported any more. So I did. Now, about 8 times out of 10 when I try to save one of my creations as a soundfile, I get "Can't allocate audio buffer" and that's a whole day's work up the Swanee!

Please, where are audio buffers on 7 and why can't one be allocated? Are there not many of them? More info the better, please, I'm not bad at comps. but I never had this prob. in XP.

I'm using Quick Score Elite Level 2 Music Software and a lot of plugins. Sometimes I have Spotify going at the same time so I can listen to music for reference purposes, but I seem to get the error message with/without Spotify in action so that could be a red herring. Sometimes I get it when using YoUTube as well but again that's not guaranteed, I can get it when using nothing else save for my music software, it seems to be pretty random.

I don't have a soundcard. I'm using a Foxpro 1 with Beats Audio on it. I don't have a soundcard because this mobo's only got PCI Express sockets and when I bought it I just thought they were faster PCI sockets, I didnt realise they were a whole different shape and none of my soundcards would FIT!! (And you can't get external soundcard caddies, can you!) And new PCIe soundcards are hundreds, or all seem to be.

A:Cant allocate sound buffer error message when bouncing down soundfile.

I have a Recording Studio (I use Sonar Platinum and a Roland Studio-Capture).

XP software may or may not work or work correctly in Win 7. Vista/Win 7/Win8.1 handle some audio functions differently. There is a lot of older audio recording interface units that do not work with Win 7.

You need the "Stereo Mix" to record audio from the Internet (may be called "System Mixer" on older sound hardware and SounBlaster calls it "What You Hear").

What exactly is the "Fox Pro 1" that you have? Beats Audio, in HP PC's that have it, is just a software enhancement to whatever sound is on the PC, such as Realtek, Conexant, etc.

I think you will be better off with a USB connected recording interface unit. You can get a basic two channel unit for under $100 and probably less on e-bay. A recording interface unit will give you better latency and probably even better sound fidelity than whatever sound "card" you have and Beats Audio. If you are using Audacity, it has sound "enhancements" available to use.

Although you need to spend some $$, you are better off staying with Win 7. Some of the recording interfaces even come with a lite version of a recording program (e.g. Cubase, Studio One, etc which are better than Audacity).

Here is under $100 units listed at Sweetwater Music, including a Focusrite unit (Focusrite is a UK company).

If you do not see the file extension, please refer to How to change the file extension.Click the Start Scan button.Do not use the computer during the scanIf the scan completes with nothing found, click Close to exit.If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.Ensure Cure (default) is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.A log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt (i.e. TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_27.07.2010_09.o7.26_log.txt) will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C:).Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply.~BladeIn your next reply, please include the following:TDSSKiller Log

Hi folks, I hope someone can help me with this problem:

I'm getting the 'Windows not genuine' message box show regularly. When I follow the link to investigate I get the Windows Activation Technologies box come up saying that the Update Installation Failed with Error Code 0x8000247.

A while ago I replaced a failing hard drive with a new one, cloned the hard drive and used that image to replace everything. After a while I started to get the not genuine message.

Here is the diagnostic report, and I would welcome any help:

My Dell desktop Dimension E510 computer with one gig RAM and XP professional failed to start and I was eventually forced to do a repair of Windows which after several hours allowed me to restart it and it is apparently back to where it was with no need to reinstall any drivers, programs, settings, etc. During the Repair there were two places were I had to skip things that would not load. However, it now has two error messages that keep popping up and I cannot get rid of them.

The first is in a window labeled "msfeedssync.exe - Application Error". The message is "The instruction at 0x77d4bbcd referenced memory at 0x00000048 cannot be read". It pops up and says click OK to terminate program or click cancel to debug the program. Clicking either twice closes the pop-up but it returns about two minutes later. How can I get rid of thsi message.

The second problem is a window labeled "Status" which starts a ticker tape to load info and then a second window pops up that says "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD or other removeable device. Insert disk and click OK. The status file is an "Installation Package.msi file. No m,atter how much I click cancel or OK the windows will not close. I can put them in the background, but is annoying.

Any advice would be helpful. I thought of doing a complete reinstall of Windows but I believe it wipes out all my programs and I don't want that if possible. Thanks in advance for any help. This... Read more

Hi techgnosis Just so you know, FSS and FRST are reporting/logging tools when used in scan mode only, so they won't fix anything unless instructed otherwise via a fix-list. Thus, I do not suggest you to attempt doing a such thing without proper training since you could easily mess up your whole system with that. Let's take a closer look at these errors.MiniToolBoxDownload MiniToolBox and move the executable file to your Desktop;Execute MiniToolBox and check the following options:List Installed Programs;List Last 10 Event Viewer Errors;List Devices - Only Problems;List Users, Partitions and Memory size;Once this is done, click on Go and wait for the scan to complete;Once the scan is complete, a log will open. Please copy/paste the content of the output log in your next reply;

I had a very bizarre problem today. I downloaded about 50 .mpg files and put them into a folder on my desktop. I opened one of them, and it worked fine, but after that every time I even opened the folder that the files were in, only half of the thumbnails would appear and then it would tell me that I had a Visual C++ Runtime Error, from explorer.exe aborting. At the same time as this, windows would pop up a little message saying that my virtual memory was low. Later, it popped up a message saying that my Media Player needed to be reinstalled and that my Norton Antivirus needed to be reinstalled. Then it disabled my Norton Firewall and my Norton Antivirus. Lastly, I started getting error messages telling me that my soundcard needed to be configured to handle voice files, by enabling hardware acceleration. The only problem with that was that Windows would not let me access the advanced sound settings!

I am running Windows XP (all patches up to date), 256 MB Ram, 75 Gig HD - so I figured the "low" virtual memory had to be an error. I tried tripling the virual memory to 1GB and also tried letting Windows automatically set the virtual memory size, but neither of these fixed the problem. My immediate thought was that it was a virus or trojan, but Norton VirusScan, Swat-It Trojan Scanner, and System Suite VirusScan all failed to detect anything, and all of them have their definitions up to date.

I ran a Google search to see what other things I should try and none of the... Read more

A:Does this message sound legit to you?

Everything in that message screams scam. Any message that even remotely resembles that is almost always a scam. Legit messages do not come in the form of pop-ups nor emails. Kindle, Apple, MS, and most other computers do not monitor your devices for malware. Simply close the page/pop-up(or email) or reboot the device and you'll probably be good to go.

I just checked the site in the page and it's 100% scam.

Hi,
I'm working on husband's pc, it is an HP Media Ctr. set up. Pavilion 4100e. We had to do a System Restore when pc was over run with virus/trojan infections. SR resulted in some lost Driver/Controller files, including ethernet and sound card. I have recovered all Driver/Controller files-- and everything is working except for sound.

I have uninstalled Creative Audigy Audio Processor (through Device Manager) and reinstalled (through Found New Hardware). I have run dxdiag, only to find "device cannot start" under problem devices/sound card.

Any suggestions on how to get this to work again? I cannot use System Restore to go back to when it was working, because that would take me back to all the virus/trojan infections and nothing was working.

Any help would be appreciated~

Thanks,

Tricia

I'm pretty new at posting so I'm not sure of the best way to do this. When I start to log on to the net, whether using IE or Firefox an error message having to do with "Google" occurs immediately. (I usually use my Google bar to go directly to the site I want.) I've taken a print screen so that you can see that message directly but don't know how I should get it to you. (I'm used to emailing such things --) As I proceed I get another message which I have also copied. This one starts with the words "Assertion Failed." If I continue I usually get a "script error" message, a copy of which I do not have at this time. If I tell the message that I will proceed with going to my chosen web site, the last several times the site has come up in multiplicity, most recently it appeared 16 times, one right after another, totally out of my control, (causing I believe Foxfire to crash), and then just a bit ago, using IE, the site I logged on to came up 7 times. I really have no idea what to do about this so I'm hoping that you can help me once again.
