I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Is this a normal issue on this model? Can it be fixed by software or will I have to change the fan? Appreciate any help I can get

I bought a new Thinkpad Yoga 14 (20DM/Broadwell). Gorgeous machine, but it refuses to wake from sleep on a keypress or click on the trackpad. It will wake up if I close and re-open it. I updated all of the drivers and the bios using Lenovo's utilities and Windows System Update. When that didn't work, I tried updating the Intel Integrated graphics drivers and GeForce drivers with the latest packages from Intel and NVIDIA, downgraded the Intel Management Engine to version 10, and disabled hybrid sleep. No dice. So I resorted to a clean re-install of Windows 10 from a USB key and updated all of the Lenovo drivers (again) using ThinkVantage System Update. "Allow this device to wake the computer" was and is checked in the Device Manager for both the keyboard and trackpad. Is there anything I can do to get it working? Only a couple days left to figure this out before my return period ends.

Hi there
I have a Yoga 14" Ultrabook and it will shut itself off when you move it also (with lid open) hold it near the thinkpad logo on the right side.

I have taken the keyboad and bottom off and could not find any loose connections or damage.

Any ideas? Been searching internet with no luck. is it a SSD thing maybe it thinks it's being dropped?

Any help would be great
thanks

Lenovo ThinkPads has a feature where it would turn off the hard drive when it detects it's being dropped. But I don't think that's present on SSDs because they don't rely on mechanical platers. I'd suggest getting the unit repaired with Lenovo. Visit http://support.lenovo.com

My headphone jack doesn't output to the right headphone when I plug it in all the way. If I ever so slightly pull out the headphone jack about an 1/8th of an inch to the next knob it will output to both left and right headphones but with a high pitched noise in the background. Should I submit my laptop for servicing? Is there a fix to this issue? I have tried multiple headphones (which I have tested on other devices, that work fine on them) and this issue still persists.

I own a Thinkpad Yoga 14 20DM and currently there is a high pitched noise through the headphone jack.  Whenever I listen to music or watch a movie, this noise comes on and is extremely annoying.  It only happens when I have headphones or speakers plugged into the laptop. I have sent in my laptop three times to the Repair depot.  The first time was for a touchscreen replacement, and the bottom plastic casing was cracking.  When I got it back, it had this annoying headphone jack issue. I have sent in the laptop twice after that and it still has not been fixed.  The system and audio board have been replaced.  I even sent in the headphones with it and they still couldn't figure it out. I do not know what to do now.  I'm pretty frustrated about the experience and probably won't buy a Lenovo product again.   Is there anything else I can do?

Since I got my laptop there has been a problem with screen backlight bleed in the bottom left-hand corner of the display. It is clearly noticeable when in a dark environment, showing dark content on the screen or when the screen brightness is turned up high, however, it is not that noticeable in normal use. Lenovo has offered a repair but I am interested in hearing whether people think this is worth it. I am worried that after the inconevience of backing up all my data and sending my laptop away, the repair will not make much difference to the issue, as it affects nearly all laptops so some degree. Does anyone have any experience with getting this kind of issue repaired and if so was it worth it?

Did u ever send it in for repair? I got 3 of the 710 laptops and 2 have really bad bleed but the 1 I kept is a lot better with just a little bleed in the lower left. Same boat as you. Lenovo offered repair but I'm hesitant it might come back worse.

Hello All,  I wonder if anyone had any problems with NBD type warranty repairs? Long story short, one of our Thinkpads decided to fail, it has been raised with Lenovo Thinkpad service team, and diagnosed as faulty system board. As unit was still covered under NBD warranty, engineer request has been processed, and all nessesary parts dispatched so unit can be repaired. Unfortunately, 3 attempts to get engineer in has been done, and he did not showed up even once to repair unit! Now, case has been escallated to Complains team, yet no one even tried to contact me in order to get this issue resolved... Is there direct line to someone in complains department? That whole situation is completly unacceptable and there seems to be no one capable of resolving this issue. Can someone advise? Hey there,I currently have a strange issue with my Yoga 14. OutlineThe keyboard shuts down when the OS loads. It works perfectly fine in the BIOS, diagnostic tools and my bootloader (grub), but shuts down immidiately when the OS starts. This issues is not related to a specific OS. The TrackPoint on the keyboard is not affected by this issue. An external usb-keyboard works fine. What I tried so far* Did a BIOS update* Removed the keyboard and re-connected it* Ran the diagnostics tool to see if there are any hints* Tried a Windows installation medium to rule out that my bootloader causes the issue* Tried Arch Linux to rule out that my Ubuntu installation causes the issue* Lots and lots of reading Additional Notes"Debugging" the low-level keyboard input on Linux shows that the keyboard is recognized, but there is absolutely nothing coming from it. No I am completely clueless on what else I can do. Hi, welcome to the forums.

I do not have much idea about this issue, but what about when you put the computer to sleep or hibernate. Does the keyboard works to wake it up? or if you wake it up with the button, does the keyboard returns to work normally or it just keep disconnected.

Hello everyone, I am having an issue and hoping to see if someone can help. I just updated the BIOS (1.27), intel mangement engine, and optimus graphics card using the lenovo vantage app, I think everything went smoothly, but now the mouse cursor intermittently disappears after waking from a sleep state. Trackpoint, trackpad, button presses all don't work. Device manager says that it is working well. After installing and uninstalling the optimus graphics card, I think I have come to the conclusion that it is either the Alps driver or the recent BIOS update. I have installed multiple different Alps driver and all of them eventually result in the disappearance. Sometimes I would go 3-4 wakeups and it would be fine. Sometimes just 1 and the cursor would disappear. A poor workaround is to uninstall the Alps driver altogether, and use the generic touchpad driver. Obviously 2 finger scroll and multitouch commands do not work with this method, but there is no concern regarding lack of a mouse cursor after waking from sleep. I tried to rollback the BIOS update, but the recent update prevents rolling back to an older version. I am at a loss as to what to do. I could consider a fresh install of windows, but I feel that it wouldn't solve the problem. Anybody else have this issue? Thanks.

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

Hey guys! Until the day before yesterday my Lenovo Thinkpad X200 worked perfectly for 2.5 years. After I finished working that day, I closed the laptop and went to bed. When I reopened the laptop yesterday - nobody had even touched it inbetween -  there were cracks in the screen (not on the surface, but in the LCD panel) and the right half of the screen didn't work anymore. Today I went to the Lenovo service center in Hong Kong and the (generally friendly) people there told me, that this was no case for warranty, because I had caused the damage. However, as I am sure, that the failure is not my fault, I am really not willing to pay 3000 HKD (400 USD) for a replacement screen (I have a 3 year warranty). What I wanted to ask now is: Has anybody else had similar problems? Does anybody has an explanation, how this damage can occur? And especially: How can I convince the people from the service center to repair it under warranty? I argued with them for 2 hours, but they were not open for my arguments.Just to clarify: I am 100% positive that nobody touched the laptop before the problam occurred. Thank you in advance!Cheers,Markus

A:Cracked LCD Screen (Thinkpad X200) - No warranty? **bleep**?

1) can you post an image of the problem?2) Cracked LCD can be due to: a) dropping the laptop on a hard surface. b) the LCD have uneven pressure spot behind the LCD, which when loaded by an external force (i.e. putting a large load on the top case), causes a concentrated stress resulting in LCD cracking. c) closing the LCD too hard, i.e. slamming it shut d) a manufacturing defect or there is construction defect, if the latter usually light spots on the LCD would appear first. cases a,b and c are the most common causes of LCD cracking.Unless you have some sort of proof that the case d was the cause of the LCD cracking, then there is very little likelihood that Lenovo would repair the LCD damage under warranty.

Yoga 900 died, had the Black Screen of Death, Power Buttons on but no action whatsoever. Machine had been slow to wake up from sleep, or would stall and I've have to reboot.  This is a common problem with the Yogas.  Warranty support said they had to replace the motherboard, CPU and memory. They  do not havethe parts available. Inventory says they won't be available for 30 days. Lenovo said the CPU is an important part of fixing this.  Case has been escalated. What is the best way to solve this quickly so I can get my machine up and running? Since this is regular occurrence with the Yoga machines, why doesn't Lenovo keep the parts in stock?

Hello I just got my new Yoga 920 - really liking it so far. There is a small amount of backlight bleed at the bottom of the screen - it's something I can live with, but considering it's a top of the line machine and cost a lot of money, is any amount of backlight bleed acceptable? I'm not sure if I should consider returning it and getting a new one, and risk getting one that is even worse. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Many thanks Zack

I just purchased a yoga 710 11.6" model and the first one had a good amount of backlight bleed coming through on three corners. Enough that I went in for an exchange. My second unit looks much better but still has a bit of bleeding in the lower left corner. Not really visible in normal tasks, but I notice it on boot up and any dark images/videos especially when viewed in a dark room. Of course it lessens with brightness, but is still there.  Is this acceptable or should I have it exchanged/replaced? I'd hate to do an exchange and get an even worse unit in return. This one isn't thaaaat bad, but I still notice it. The image is also a bit exaggerated from the camera and doesn't look as bad in person. Opinions?

I am currently typing this on a bluetooth keyboard attatched to my phone...  Thank God for the keyboard.   Anyway my laptop is obviously down.  It started off where it wouldn't turn on at all.  I simply got 3 lights on the thinkpad when plugging it in, and two lights when trying to get it to turn on.  Then after letting it sit for a while, it would turn on and boot up, only to shut off after 20 seconds or so...  Then it finally booted all the way up, and I was extremely happy...  I even journaled about how happy I was on my journal software on my computer, but after shutting it down all that happens is a solid thinkpad light when I turn it on, and the keyboard flashes like normal then...  no screen comes on.   I thought to myself, at least I have a backup tablet...  I guess I had it sitting in its case too long because it seems that the battery is gone on it and wont even turn on so I am left using my tablets keyboard with my phone to write to you fine people.  Like I said, I am very grateful for this keyboard making my situation much more bearable. Please help.  I am thinking all signs are pointing towards some sort of motherboard failure, but am hoping that there is a wizard in the forums that may be able to wave a magic wand.  I have already pushed the static discharge button around 101 times.

Tried searching this one here, no luck. I recent;ly purchased a Thinkpad Yoga 14 at Best Buy, from which I understand is a T400 so I hope I'm correct in posting in this section. I love the machine, however, after about a week it started developing a discolored region in the lower left corner: orange in color, circular in shape, about one half to three quarters of an inch in diameter. I searched the web and found for other devices, and solutions varying from returns to software based methods (of which I am dubious). Edit: I am noticing a slighter discoloration over a larger area in the lower left corner, barely discernable but it's there, as well as the very noticable circle. Before I return the device, I wanted to post here to get any input. Has anyone else experienced this and their solution?

After reading through dreaded black screen issue for other models, I am checking if the Thinkpad Yoga also has the black screen issue. Given that this happened barely inside a month after the warranty expired, this has solid changes to be the last lenovo product in the family. Issue: I returned one home from work to wake up my sleeping Lenovo. Noticed it seemed to be in a dark screen mode with nothing showing up. So tried to press a few buttons and then finally powered off using the button. Upon restart, I could see the Lenovo sign and option to press Enter to check other options and I ignored like usual happy path scenario and let it go. At the time it usually starts showing the Windows screens, I see nothing happen. A dark screen with all the keyboard lights still working but no screen. Connected to projector to see if the login screen shows but it did NOT. Tried to restart few times, reset using the pinhole at the bottom, ran diagnositcs and tried to refresh system etc using the troubleshoot options, checked the BIOS settings - all of which show up on screen and the LCD test pass like a charm but the Windows boot does not work. Thinkpad Yoga 15 running on Windows 10 pro. 20DQ machine type. The frustarting thing is warranty just expired end of July, phone support wont even discuss the issue since it is expired. Dear all, I would like to upgrade the touchscreen on the Thinkpad Yoga 260 - I have the 1366x768 model (a long and annoying story!) and I really want the 1080 screen - for obvious reasons. I am relatively technically competent (I'm a tinkerer) and have carried out these sorts of procedures on other laptops in the past. Which brings me to my question... Having upgraded the screen on a T450 and run into the problem of the display driver not accepting the new screen (some issue relating to EDIDs, or something like that) (https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/3t3z1d/lenovo_t450_lcd_replacement_cant_change_brightness... Am I going to encounter the same problem with the Yoga 260? Or potentially worse given that there are touch-screen issues involved too? Looking around at replacement panel assemblies they instruct not to use if the present resolution is wrong (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-5-FHD-LCD-LED-Touch-Screen-Assembly-for-Lenovo-ThinkPad-Yoga-260-1920X1...) - it is just these particular panels, or am I screwed? Any success stories would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tim

Hey guys, I just purchased the Thinkpad Yoga 14 (460) #20FY0002US from Best Buy. I'm just trying to find a Clear Screen Protector for it...but haven't had any luck.   Could someone please give me a suggestion on a good screen protector that "actually" completely fits the screen and is a good quality for touch screen and pen use.  Thanks

Before I returned the device, I wanted to post here to get any input. Has anyone else experienced this and their solution?

Hi, I just received my Yoga and it looks and feels great. However, there seems to be some sort of foil over the screen, that doesn't quite cover the screen edge to edge. It stops around maybe 0.5mm from the end of the glass panel. It also appears to give the display some sorty of milky grey collor when turned off. I was wondering if this is part of the digitizer, a protective or anti-glare foil, or something else entirely? I first thought it was the kind of screen protector you see on phones when you first buy them, but there's no latch to take it of, and it seems to be glued to the display rather well. Can anyone enlighten me?

A:ThinkPad Yoga screen foil?

it is a layer of pre-applied screen protector. It's for anti-glare and protective purpose. It's possible to remove it but requires patience and effort as its strongly glued to the screen during production. From what I understood any fault related with the removal of the screen protector is not covered by the warranty.

I've noticed that my Thinkpad X1 Yoga (3 months old?) has developed white streaks on the screen. THey are equally spaced from the lower windows button and then extend up and towards the center of the screen - I'm guessing a defect of the LCD screen? Can anyone help diagnose the problem. See attached photo.

Hello CNevayThanks for using the Lenovo forums.Definitely looks like screen backlight bleeding through.

Check if this is present in the BIOS, if it is, then I would recommend that you get in touch with your local Lenovo support line for a possible service. Below is the link to the phone list where you can find these numbers
