I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a 2 Zebra Label Printers (2 models) that are shared printers on two separate computers (both with XP) on our networked that are pushed out to all the other computers on the network via group policy on/print management on the server (Server 2003). One of these printers will push out to the Windows 7 machine but the other one will not. If you try to add it manually on the Windows 7 machine the printer is listed as one of the network printers however it will error, saying it cannot make a connection with an error code of 0x0000007a. Looking in Print Management on the server the printer that does push out is on the list of printers and the that does not push out is not, even though it is listed in the list of printers under printers and faxes. This printer has added to deploy under group policy though and still does not push out to the Windows 7 machines but will to all our XP machines. Anyone have a solution on how to remedy the problem?

A:[SOLVED] Windows 7 & Network Printer Issue

Are you specifically using a driver designed for Windows 7 on the Win7 machines? By default, the print server will push out the driver installed to the client when first connected, so if the driver being used is for XP or 2003, it may not work properly under Win7. That error message means "ERROR_INSUFFICIENT_BUFFER", which would indicate a driver issue indeed.

Hi dear,
Thanks in advance for your sincere help in this issue. The laptop was running fine before automatically the print stops. The printer is fine and other can print from their pcs and laptops. It is confirmed there is no issue with printers. I have an issue with network print from windows 7 64bit Laptop to HP Network Printer Laserjet pro 400 M451nw or any network printer. I have successfully installed network printer by IP address and it is installed successfully with correct drivers. When i try to print it wont print and print will be in the queue. when I delete the queue after deleting it will show the status of the printer's toner and usage. What things stop print command to reach printer? Any printer port is blocked? I have uninstalled maximum apps, updated windows 7 64bit OS, updated and downloaded HP drivers. Uninstalled and reinstalled HP drivers. All vain. Can you please help me. I will be grateful to you forever. Thanks alot. Is it O/S issue?

Strange issue.

In Devices and Printers right click on the printer and select 'Printer properties' (not 'Properties at the bottom of the list). On the Advanced tab is 'Always available' selected? On the General tab does Location show the correct IP address and do you get any error message when trying 'Print Test Page'?

We recently ordered a new printer for our small business network. It is EXACTLY like the old printer, same model and I verified it has the same firmware rev as the old one. Since the driver software was already installed on all our machines, no need to do that. There is a static IP for the printer which is 192.168.1.121 So this is basically a swap out to the same equipment, but the new printer will not recognize the proper IP address, it just reflects the factory default. I spoke to the Tech Support people at Brother (it is an HL 6050-DN laser) and they tried a bunch of things with me and we reset it a few times and they concluded the network card was bad, which seems a bit unlikely to me. I asked if the MAC address of the printer is an issue, since it is obviously different than the old one albeit the same printer spec. Maybe we need to update the MAC address on the server? router? or maybe this isn't an issue. Help is appreciated!

I have a XP Pro SP1a machine on a network. When I print something(example Calendar from Outlook) i get an extra sheet of paper with the following

PCL XL error

Warning: IllegalMediaSource

The printer is an HP 8150 Laserjet with HP LaserJet 8150 PCL 6 for the driver. It is on a NT 4 SP6 server.

Now, other XP machines can print to this printer, and it doesnt get this extra sheet.

I googled for this error and only found a few similiar situation. Some said to delete the printer and add it again. Didnt work for me.

Not long ago I switched network models from peer-peer to client/ server for my home network running W2K Server with XP Pro clients. I have an HP1000 Laser printer that has always worked fine without problems when it was shared with the peer-peer model.

The printer was inistially left installed directly on one of the client machines and shared from there. However due to problems I am having, I have changed it and now have it installed and connected directly to the W2K server machine.

The problem I am having is that I cannot print to the printer the majority of the times. When I look within the printers folder on the network machines the printer most always says "opening" and not "ready" like it should. The weird thing is whenever I immediately install the printer it is "ready" and prints with no problem. But as a short amount of time goes by it reverts back to the "opening" status. Also, the printer is fine and the W2K Server can print normally its just the networked clients that are having the problem.

The Netgear wireless router that I am using indicates constant network traffic between the one client and the server when the "opening" is indicated below the printer. Usually If I restart the machine the printer will then be "ready" and revert back to "opening".

FYI, the server is using the Active Directory which is how I normally find and install the printer.

I havent had too much experience with Vista until lately, so I'll explain the best I can. Quite simply I recently installed a second computer into an office that has of course Windows Vista on it. Everything has run smoothly with setup and configuration except for the printer sharing. I've set it up with password protected sharing, and upon the initial setup, the printer was installed and working perfectly. When the box popped up to enter user name and pass to access the printer on the network from the other computer, I made sure to check the box 'remember password. My problem (or I should say the offices problem) now is that every time they shut down the computer at the end of the work day, it wont allow them to use the printer the following morning when they start up the machine. Does something reset with user access after the computer is shut down? And if so, would it be better to just to eliminate the password protection all together? I should note the initial reason for password protection was because they were on a wireless network, and extra protection was needed. But now the computers are networked on a local basis, we took out the wireless setup and put a hub in.

A:Printer network issue

When you enter the password, you are making a connection to the device itself.
if the system is shutdown, the connection is lost.

When restarted, you need another connection and --- password is required

WHY PW protect the printer?

Hi all,

I've an unusual problem...

First issue arose a week ago. I have a client who has three Xp clients on a network. THey each print to a Brother HK 2700N - connected and shared via usb from ws01 originally. File and printer shares on PC were corrupt and installation of office 2003 as well as logmein and antivirus software resulted in us reloading the OS from scratch. We placed the printer onto a second PC (ws02 and created a share). It prints fine both locally and from ws03 (the third client).

On reloading the OS onto ws01 and connecting everthing backup, printer still shared on ws02, it seemed to work fine. However, on day two, it dropped the printer. Yesterday, I reconnected printer and it was fine. Today, its gone again from this same computer, but ws02 still prints locally as well as ws03 through the share. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Regards

George

Hi greetings to everyone.

Wanted to run this by all of you. I am a desktop tech at a company and we are having this printer issue. Well I say printer issue, they are saying it's a printer issue that I believe to be more of a network issue. the story goes like this...

They put it a new print server called bartender to run these label/tag printers that we have roughly 75-85 of at three different locations. The week of the change we started having these issues. The user could put in for a tag or label to be printed from the application they use, and they would get no jobs, no tags/labels, nothing. On the server side of things, the job on that printer would show errored out and the printer would appear as if it were offline. But at the same time it would be pingable. You could ping through the entire process. Funny thing is, is you could recycle the power on the printer and it would release the jobs and clear the queue right up. Now like I said we have between 75-85 of these printers, some of these get used more than others, some of these , this issue is occurring more on than the others. But keep in mind that they are spread out throughout three different locations, states and cities. Now some of these printers that the issue is occurring on is really bad. like at some locations, there may be a couple of printers that we may refer to as the "problem printers" because they seem to have this issue way more often than any of the rest of them.

Now we have tried up... Read more

The issue is alluding me in terms of fixing the issue. Here is how I need to configure the connection in order to allow 3 computers to print from the same printer.

Desktop #1 Windows 7 Professional ~ Networked with the Correct Workgroup and can share all files back and forth with other PC's on the network. This one has the printer connected through a USB direct connection which is also shared. I need to allow the other PC's to print using this connection.

Desktop #2 Windows XP Professional ~ Networked with the correct Workgroup and can share all files back and forth with other PC's including those with Windows 7. I need to use the printer connected to Desktop #1. All documents and formats will not print at all.

Laptop #3 Windows 7 Professional ~ Networked with the Correct Workgoup and can share all files back and forth with other PC's on the network. I need to use the printer connected to Desktop #1 in order to print Documents. All documents and formats will not print at all.

The issues that I am having is that Desktop #1 can print all documents just fine with the printer which is a Magicolor 2500W Laser printer. I have all the latest drivers on all operating systems including those for XP and for Windows 7.

It is a network printer so I wonder why it is showing pc1\........ like that instead of just printer names. So I'm confused how to proceed further.

Let me also say I work in traditional Desktop view.

I have no issue printing, not once did it refuse a print job. Issue below are not tied to a specific software, I?ve experienced it in software from at least Microsoft, Autodesk, Adobe, Foxit?

When opening Print Dialog I am mostly not allowed to go to Printer Properties/Printer Advanced Settings. I say mostly because every now and then I am allowed. When hitting the Properties button my system freezes. A popup dialog box appears stating different things but the last couple of times it has been ?A RPC (Remote Procedure Call) could not get through? (Or similar ? remember: I?m not using an English system). I hit OK. At this point the software is frozen and locked ? I have to go via Task Manager and Kill Task. Meanwhile, all other running programs are not affected.

So the story above could just as well include a slightly different popup dialog box message but the problem is the same. I can always print with my standard settings but if I want for example multicolour or duplex I have to have a separate printer installation for that.

So if I go to my Control Panel -> Units and Printers I do actually face the exact same problem. I enter C224 Printer Settings but if I now try to go to Printer Properti... Read more

The printer is an old HP LaserJet P2015 connected to a Windows 7 Pro (32-bit) machine.  Every morning, when the user boots the computer up and logs in, that printer will show as an unknown device under Devices and Printers.  The actual printer
icon for the P2015 will be grayed out.  If you just turn the printer off and back on the unknown device goes away, and the P2015 icon will go back to ready.  I have tried multiple USB cable and ports on the computer and a powered USB hub.  I've
tried multiple drivers, and the only one that really wants to work is the actual HP driver for the P2015 (which took a while to find).  The HP universal print drivers all have their own quirks with it.  I've adjusted power setting for maximum efficiency,
ran sfc /scannow, ran chkdsk /r, and some other things that I cannot remember.  Is there anything I can try that I didn't list?

I can't seem to find anything about my specific problem. I had an HP PSC 2410 all-in-one series printer connected to a Dlink print server. The printer started making terrible noises when it started up, so I disconnected it and reconnected an old deskjet instead. I recently fixed the all-in-one (turned out i just needed to clean the scanning glass and mirrors), but the print server no longer powers up. Now here's the real issue:

I can't get the printer to install locally via USB port. I was finally able to delete the network printer (it kept coming back after reboot, offline), but I can' get Windows to auto-detect and install the drivers. I can't even download the drivers from the HP website because they aren't available (windows update only). I can't manually add the printer either, because the virtual USB port is unavailable. I'd really like to get this printer running again, especially because I brought it back from the dead and I really need to scanner. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well after spending about 20 hours of my life on researching this problem online and trying all kinds of "fixes" I am turing to this board for help.

I have a Gateway FX 6802 - 64 bit computer running Windows 7. Brand new - purchased 2 months ago. I also have an Epson 1280 printer which I have had for years. When I initially set the computer up, I just plugged in the printer via USB and it found the drivers and worked. No issues. Epson doesn't have drivers for the 1280 for Windows 7 anyway...but I had 2 months of no issues.

A few days ago, I noticed when I went to print something from my Microsoft Home and Student Word 2007 program, it wouldn't print. It said my print spooler was not on. The ADD/REMOVE program wouldn't allow me uninstall it came up with an installation error when trying to do so.I then went onto a HP forum to try and get help and was directed towards deleting the HP files and downloading the HP driver from scratch. Afetr manually deleting the HP folders/files and downloading the relevant full HP driver I now get an installation error when trying to install the printer. I am now at a point that the PC doesn't even recognise the printer on the network and I can't install the driver. Is this something to do with the ADD/REMOVE program not being able to uninstall properly?

A:Solved: Windows XP/Printer Issue

Trying to remove a program manually is always a bad idea. You can never find everything that needs to be removed, especially in the registry. The only thing it will accomplish, is prevent further installation of the software.

If the software is still showing inside "Add or Remove Programs" chances are you might be able to remove leftovers with the free Revo Uninstaller, but I wouldn't bet on it. Still worth a try though.

But all in vain. I have tried the process almost ten times now and I am tired. That's why I have come to this forum. Please could any one of you help me resolve this issue. Thank you in anticipation.

A:Windows 7 - Dell aio 922 Printer Issue

I had the same problem with my Dell AIO 964... Try downloading the the Patch/Upgrade .Zip file from the Dell website. When it finishes downloading open it and run the DellCleanUpUtility.exe this will delete the driver that Windows 7 automatically installed. When the Utility completes it will ask to reboot, allow it do so, then procede to install the windows vista version of your printer driver from the Dell website. Cho Yung Tea

I have a weird one that I am hoping someone can assist with,

Background Info ? 4 PCs and 3 Printers in office all Windows 7 ? One PC acts as Print Server and shares the TWO of the Three printers using Windows Homegroup. Third Printer is direct connected via USB to Bosses PC.

Problem ? On Bosses PC only ? All Shared Printers will just go offline. It is not a network issue or homegroup issue as she (the boss) can see other homegroup resources such as shared drive and Shared folders. It appears to happen after she prints to her USB printer then tries to go to a shared printer. (This is my guess, Not tested and verified).

Other Info ? No one else in office has this issue, Boss will not give up her USB printer(it is old but reliable for her), A restart of her machine sometimes fixes the problem but not always.

I am truly at a loss any help or work around would be appreciated.

A:Strange Issue with Printer and Windows 7

In an office environment, I would do away with printer sharing and simply place all of the printers on the network. Then you don't have to deal with Windows glitches and conflicts.

Do you know if Windows 7 is compatible with Dell's 922 AIO printer? I cannot get it to fully install and print, either with the CD that came with the printer or by downloading from the Dell's web site...Please help my Mom!! Thx

A:Windows 7 compatibility printer issue

Looks like its not compatible. See here -> http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Search.aspx?type=Hardware&s=922%20AIO

You can use the Windows 7 Compatiblility web site to verify software & hardware.

It used to work okay. I installed a new release of Avira Antivirus and they must have changed how it works, because it is using the Windows Firewall.

The network printer does not show in the Add Printer screen and it cannot be reached by its ip address or name.

I checked the Windows Firewall settings and they seem correct.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Forgot to mention that I also change the security choice in my router per Verizon from WAP to WPA2.

A:Cannot get Windows 7 to see my network printer

Turn off the firewall and try it. If okay then it's a firewall setting.
Ditto for Avira.

I have a USB connected printer (HP F4100) on my Windows 10 desktop. Everything appear to be working as I have no issue accessing the printer remotely on my Windows 7 laptop. The issue is trying to access from my Windows 10 laptop. I can see the shared workgroup in explorer, but no sign of the shared printer.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? I've gone through the basics such as disabling Windows Firewall, but no luck. Everything looks fine in the advanced sharing settings and as mentioned, things are fine from my Windows 7 machine.

Any ideas? This is driving me crazy.

My impression of Windows 10 is not great so far. This along with my machine rebooting due to a security patch even though I had "Notify to schedule restart" selected. The whole mandatory security updates kind of irks me. I kind of get it, but as a power user, I should have the choice. Especially with the amount of sketchy patches that MS has released over the years.

Is your printer capable of being Wi-Fi instead of cable.
Also you could then get WI-FI card for your desktop
I have an HP Printer and being WI-FI anyone in our house can connect and use it

I got a new laptop loaded with seven. I have an older HP7150. New pc runs 64 bit, printer 32. When I plugged in printer, it loaded "sometype" of driver that said it would work. Well, it sorta does and don't and for the most part, it jams up, feeds through unprinted paper and etc. Upon further reading I found where 32 bit devices do not work with 64. So, I called HP and they provided a little free help and I took it, up to the point where they wanted $$ for there help. So, what I did find out that by going to command prompt and typing driverquery that I do not have any type of 7150 driver. By going to the HP does not offer a 64 bit driver for seven, only for vista. Hmm, thought I'd give the vista driver a whirl...and this PC is so smart, in will not unload the driver. It just comes up with a message and says something like..."it's been determined that the driver you are already using, is better than the one that you want to use". Hmm, so can somebody please tell me, where I can find an actual driver that will work, that I can download to say, my thumb drive, that I can actually locate and installed in the printer properties? Thank you

Hi all,
Hoping someone out there may be able to help with the following.

I have a Canon MG8250 all in one printer/scanner. All was fine on Windows 8, but then upgraded to 8.1 a couple of weeks ago. Just got round to using the printer and scanner and the printer wouldn't work (scanner was fine). Uninstalled MP drivers and reinstalled from Canon site and all seemed fine with the printing. Alas the scanner now would not work. Did the same, uninstalled MP Navigator Ex and reinstalled from Canon site, but no fix this time. PC says "Cannot start MP Navigator Ex" and printer says "Set PC to start scanning".

Anybody know how to fix?

Thanks,
Peter

I have a HP Deskjet 970 Cse (parallel) printer attached to a computer that is running XP Sp3 on my network. I want to be able to use the printer across the network with machines running Windows 7 64-bit. When I "Add a Printer" in Windows 7 it "sees" the printer but says that it can't communicate with it. The HP web site talks about a generic driver in Windows 7 that will work but gives no information on the name of the driver or where in Windows to find it.
The printer is parallel only and the Windows 7 computers don't have parallel ports, so I can't hook the printer directly up to the Windows 7 computers. I can't see spending $50 on a parallel/USB cord just for downloading a driver either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello DaLog, welcome to the Seven Forums.

This might work:Go to Devices and Printers
Click Add a printer
Choose Add a local printer
Choose nul (Local Port) from drop down menu, click Next

Choose your printer from the list, click Next

Let Windows install the drivers, change nothing. Click Next when dialogs appear (a couple of times) and finally click Finish

When done, repeat the procedure but this time choose Add a Network Printer.

Also experiencing problems printing to them using Citrix with the same results. Drivers are all up to date sp's are all up to date the network is new, about 15 users at present, with more comming that is why I need to fix this.

Thanks in advanced.

I'm not all that experienced, just a student at present, but just to get things moving along, how do have the printers connected to your network? Print Server? Are you using Active Directory?
