Windows 10 Creator Update Caused Inspiron 24-5459 WiFi to Fail

Q: Windows 10 Creator Update Caused Inspiron 24-5459 WiFi to Fail

Microsoft force-upgraded my machine to the Windows 10, version 1703 (Creator) upgrade.
After this upgrade my WiFi stopped working. Is Dell working on a new driver?
I installed the latest driver Qualcomm-QCA9565-WiFi-Bluetooth-Driver_Y8HRF_WIN_10.0.0.352_A08_01.EXE but it is still not working properly. It only works every other boot up and fails in the middle of sessions.
Is there a plan to fix this driver? Or are we on our own?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I recently updated my Inspiron 14" 5459 to the Windows 10 anniversary update, i noticed that when my wifi access point changes or wifi signal drops or turning off wifi, my laptop semi-freezes, you could still scroll with the mouse or track pad and select open tabs but that's all, clicking other icons and even the windows start menu does not work, if you wait for more than 5 minutes, everything goes back to normal. Waiting around for about 5 minutes is annoying so what I do is press ctrl alt delete and from there restart the laptop. my wifi adapter is updated to the most recent version and also both graphics card (intel hd 520 and amd radeon m335) is also updated to the latest version.  Any suggestion on how to resolve this issue?

A:after Windows 10 anniversary update, Inspiron 5459 freezes if wifi is turned off or wifi access point is changed, is there a solution to this problem?

Please confirm the wireless card from the device manger or the network control panel. Also please update the BIOS firmware to the latest version. The BIOS update should ideally be version v1.2.2. Also please try system out with  a LAN cable as well to confirm if is indeed caused by the wireless. Though this may not run a complete diagnostics on the network you can run a hardware diagnostics on the computer using the following steps

Shutdown the computer
Hold the 'Fn' key and turn on the computer
Let go of the 'Fn' key after 2 seconds

This is will initiate the H/w diagnostics. Please let us know if it completes or if  you run into any errors. If  you do run into any errors.

Yesterday I went ahead and ran the update on my computer. Everything looked ok until I rebooted the pc to finish the upgrade. It did reboot but I could not access the internet. External drives were fine, just no internet. Checked all setting, restarted my router, no help. Ran onboard diagnostics, nothing wrong. OK, so I figure the issue is in the update so I did a system restore to before the update. Big mistake! Now the computer won't boot, AT ALL! I'm in the endless boot cycle. At first my thought was a bad hard drive, but the system was working fine Thursday! Now the computer comes to the login screen, but won't accept my password, just cycles.

I tried F8 to do a factory reset, but I can't get there. Won't boot, so can't reset W10 that way either. Not sure what to do now!

Resolution: Dell Inspiron 5459/5559/5759 BIOS Update - Will not boot after update
"No boot drive found", "PXE... Media test failure"
If you updated from 1.0.x to 1.1.5 (or other) and find yourself scratching your head in a panic that your system won't boot up, reboot and press and hold the F2 key when you see the Dell logo (shortly after restart). When the bios settings page opens, click restore settings to default, save, and then exit. Your system should boot to windows now :-)
If you don't care about default Keyboard LED brightness or Fn Lock key default status, disregard the following:
After your system restarts into windows, restart and repeat to enter bios. There are some minor settings that change -- They are minor and don't affect performance.  Under System Configuration, Keyboard brightness changes from dim to bright. Under Post Boot, Fn lock key changes to unlocked.
Have a nice day. Hopefully if you're reading this you already figured that out on your own.

A:Dell Inspiron 5459/5559/5759 BIOS Update Error - WILL NOT REBOOT

I am facing the exact issue for my 5559 laptop after updating bios from Dell update site.
It had 1.1.5 if i remember correctly, and update was for 1.1.6 using Inspiron_5459_1.1.6.exe
Only problem, reset to default settings does not solve it for me. Its still the same PXE E61 Media test failure and NO Bot device found error.
Is there a way to boot from usb and flash it to original version ?

I downloaded the Anniversary Update and ran it. It seemed to be doing ok - the % complete got up to 91%, including several restarts, and then I got the frowning face icone with the message "Something went wrong". After that my screen said it was restoring my previous version, which is what I am running now and seems to be OK.

So what now? How is one supposed to figure out what caused the update to fail? I've looked at the upgrader_default.log file but don't see anything helpful in there. There are a couple of error messages with code 0x80070002 but searching that ends up at a MS page that says support for XP has ended.

My boot drive now has a 15.5MB directory called WIndows10Upgrade that has a lot of stuff in it. Is there something in here that's worth running to see what's wrong? Or should I just stick with my current version and wait for the next "upgrade"?

I have a Dell Inspiron 14 5459, core i7, 4GB RAM,
The laptop runs Ubuntu GNOME 17.04.
I always used to get random full freezes and I had to do a forced shutdown.
Most of the times the laptop doesn't turn on, the screen is blank and the power indicator flashes like so:
Two times Orange and four times White. This keeps on going until I turn off the laptop.
I had to wait a while (maybe half a hour) only then it will turn on normally.
Recently, when the laptop froze, I couldn't turn it on even after 12 hours (happened at night, tired to turn on in the morning), I waited for 40 minutes - 1 hour but it still didn't turn on, the power indicator kept on flashing.
So I tried to do a hard reset by removing the AC adapter, battery and the button cell and I pressed and hold the power button for 1 minute or so.
After putting back all the things and when I tried to turn it on, the laptop still shows a blank screen, but the fan goes full speed and the power indicator flashes two times orange and four times white. I tried may ways like AC power only or battery powered only but ended up with the same result.
Can someone tell me what the flashing power indicator means? And how to fix it?

I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 14 5459. Sometimes when I work it suddenly black screen and the fan so noisy. After that, I must press the power button to turn it off  with force. It happens about 3-4 times while I work (typing or just browsing the internet).
Could you please help me with this situation? What can I do? Fyi I have run the diagnostics and did not found any error.
Thank you for you support

A:Dell Inspiron 14 5459 suddenly black screen and shut down

Does this happen with or without the adapter connected? What applications are using when the display goes blank? Is the mouse cursor still seen and active when the display goes blank? Does the system overheat? Are there any bluescreens / system crashes?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/28V3xvh - and reinstall the chipset drivers and video drivers from the same site and check if it works fine.
If the issue is still unresolved, then connect an external monitor and check if display goes blank on the external monitor and the LCD.
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - do not make any changes here - leave the system in BIOS environment for as long as possible with the adapter connected  and see if the display goes blank while in BIOS.

Re. the instruction thread - the link to DSS doesn't seem to work, and GMER is for 32-bit only. If there's anything I can do to kick things off, please let me know and I'll do it!

I've googled extensively around the issues I am facing, and tried all proposed solutions, but none have worked thus far.

Symptoms:I have 1-2 minutes of freedom after booting, then I can no longer run new programmes. I also cannot close some programmes e.g. Skype. Tabs in Chrome spazz, flash player dies, and any new navigation ends up with an eternal hanging/loading problem.
Unable to restart/shutdown conventionally (I have to do it physically)
I get the error "Failure to display security and shut down options ..." when I try ALT+CTRL+DEL

Safe mode is absolutely fine, so I assume it's not anything hardware related (though please correct me if I'm being naive). My second drive which runs off XP, which I only use for storage now, boots fine and has no problems.

I have not installed any new drivers, programmes, or otherwise made any meaningful changes recently.

Solutions I've tried:Reset winsock.
Shut off all start-up programmes using MSCONFIG.
Run virus scan at boot-up, deleted 2 items (win32 installmate ... prob trojans? Was an .exe that I had downloaded but never ran).
Run Malwarebytes scan, deleted 1 fairly innocuous item.
Run full scan-disk check.
Run a SFC scan... Read more

Hello.  I've noticed through the Support Assist program that I have two updates for the Intel WiFi driver and the chipset.  However, repeated attempts to update them have resulted in errors.  Downloading the WiFi driver separately from Dell's website, and then attempting to run it there, have led to the same result.  Tonight, I tried to update the WiFi driver again.  This time, the installer opened up a command prompt window with mup.exe, then the Intel window came up and said the installation was blocked because a newer version was already on the system.
How can I tell whether or not I even need the updates SupportAssist keeps pushing to me?  And if I don't, why does it keep pushing them to me?
Thank you in advance for your help.

I have a Lenovo T460 (Windows 10, version1703, x64) which was updated to Windows 10 Creators version two weeks ago.  Since that time I have had Bluetooth and wifi issues.  While I think I have fixed the Bluetooth issues the wifi remains quite slow (computer to computer transfer).  My file transfer rates between computers , and my NAS (LaCie 2Big NAS) was ~ 8-9 MBps (64 - 72 Mbps), not super great but fine for backing up 2- 5 GBs of files every other day.  Now I'm lucky to have 1.2 MBps.  I have a Lenovo T430 (Windows 10 ver 1673) and a Lenovo T520 (Windows 7) which still transfer files ~ 8-9 MBps. Tried to upgrade from Windows Update as well as using the Media Creator Tool by downloading from the Microsoft website, neither of them works. In the end, I got an error code "0xC1900101 - 0x20017", and a message "The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation." I have every driver and OS software updated to-date. I do have Ubuntu installed as a dual-boot OS and Macrium Reflect configured as a recovery software from the boot, which might have caused the problem. I encountered this issue a while ago with the Spring Creator Update (see here), and I fixed it by deleting the Ubuntu booting partition, which I definitely want to avoid! I searched on Google, similar issued happened for HP laptops and was related to the BIOS driver. Does anyone know if this issue is related to the Thinkpad BIOS setting or something we have to wait for Lenovo to fix? Any solution to this issue? Thanks.
