Conservation Mode for Lenovo Vantage no longer working

Q: Conservation Mode for Lenovo Vantage no longer working

Has anyone else's Lenovo Battery Power Conservation Mode stopped working? I have a Lenovo FLEX 5-1570 and Conservation Mode recently stopped functioning. Everything else appears to be working fine but now when I have my laptop plugged in, it charges to 100% and remains there. I've tried turning Conservation Mode off and back on. I've tried rebooting. I've tried reinstalling the BIOS and Chipset software. None of these fix the problem. The worst part is Lenovo "support". Lenovo hardware support is completely separate from Lenovo software support and they do not talk to one another. Lenovo hardware support provided no support other than suggesting trying to reinstall the BIOS and Chipset updates. (My best guess is their latest BIOS update created the problem.) Lenovo software support will not provide support for their own software, even though the laptop is under warranty, without paying extra for it! Knowing this now, I will never buy another Lenovo product.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Laura545, that topic thread appears to be slightly different than the one I'm experiencing. My Conservation Mode does not disable itself. It just no longer works even though Lenovo Vantage states it is enabled. I found this topic thread which is more like the issue I'm experiencing: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-100-305-500-Edge/Lenovo-Ideapad-700-conservation-mode-no... It appears as though Lenovo has been reintroducing this bug for a while now.

Hi, In the Lenovo Settings application when I toggle on the conservation mode for the battery, the battery should stop charging at around 60%. However, even though the conservation mode is toggled on, the battery will charge to 100% and stay at 100%. The icon near the battery usually would indicate whether the AC adapter is plugged in by showing a plug and if you would toggle conservation mode, this AC adapter plug would change into a leaf. However now it is always a leaf, whether I the conservation mode is on or off.  I appreciate all suggestions.

Hello,Most of the time, I keep my laptop AC plugged in, but I am afraid that that could harm my battery's lifespam.I tried using the conservation mode as advised in some posts, but I can't activate it on my Lenovo Vantage app since it says that the feature is no longer necessary. However, my laptop battery is always on 100%.How can I activate the conservation feature, or if it's really no longer necessary, is it really good for me to keep the battery on 100% most of the time ?PS: I have a (new) Lenovo Toga 530-14ARR. Thank you in advance

Hi. I tried enabling the conservation mode on a Lenovo 100s-11IBY several times but the battery still charges to full capacity. I have Windows 10 Redmond version and an updated BIOS. I enabled the conservation mode in Lenovo Settings. I chatted online with a Lenovo Technician and he told me that Lenovo 100s-11IBY does not support conservation mode. He told me to just let the battery charge to full capacity. Will this not affect battery life? Does anyone have the same issue as I do? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Jerry

Hi Folks - First Post. I have a Y50-70 and upgraded to the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition (Version 1607 Build 14393.51) and now the Energy Manager will not enable Conservation Mode. I can enable the mode but the battery still charges to 100% and I will get the message that the battery has been above 70% for a long time. I uninstalled the application and the driver and reinstalled them but it does not seem to work.  Any suggestions? I don't want to try gaming on battery :-) Thanks!

Hi, I recently was prompted to do an optional update to the touchpad driver via Lenovo vantage. Since then the custom settings for the touchpad have reverted to the generic windows mouse settings. There used to be options to turn off taps, gestures etc. I have set the touchpad to low sensitivity for taps but it's still too sensitive when using the touchpad and it often clicks on things I don't want it to. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled based on my serial number and still the same. I'd have thought this is how it is but knowing that I used to be able to turn things off like taps, then this is why I am trying to find a solution. So far haven't had much luck with support via Live chat with Lenovo or via email. Can someone help? I need taps turned off and want to be able to access those settings like just recently.

Hey,To begi, I have 2 problems since I bought this notebook about 2 weeks ago1- The performance is so poor    I am running Windows 10 and what I can notice is the bad performance from such an i7 processor @2.7 to 2.9 Ghz with 8 GB RAM(DDR4) and Nvidia Geforce 920MX(2GB)once I remove the AC Adapter and run it on the battery it tends to be slower and even when plugged in it's still giving me like the minimal performance, I have another laptop which is processor i5 @2.3 Ghz , 4 GB of RAM(DDR3), Intel Graphics Card(1GB) and it is running at much higher speed and I have tested this on some game and the i5 PC gave me a Higher FPS(90+) while the Ideapad gave me something around 60So, is it because some kind of factory settings for the lowest performance ever on that PC as I want to change it? Please give me a decent Solution for that problem as I can't work on the Ideapad this way.....2- Since I bought this laptop and I am using it regularly so I wanted to limit the battery usage to increase its lifespan so I have download Lenovo settings and Companion to Activate the Conservation Mode but It never worked, It never limited the battery to 60% and the battery still goes to completion....So I need a solution for thatThanks in advance.

In this first screenshot of Lenovo Vantage running under Windows 10 (64) on my X1 Yoga (1st generation), please notice where it says that I need to install Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105.  However, in the second screenshot, please notice where the Installation History shows that Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105 was successfully installed already. Everytime I boot up and run Lenovo Vantage to check for updates, it tells me that I need Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105 so I let it install it. Everytime I install it, the installation appears to be successful and my computer reboots, but then after rebooting, Lenovo Vantage again tells me that (1) I need it, (2) I already have it. This is crazy.  In the third screenshot (looking at Windows Device Manager) I see the Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A. The fourth screenshot shows that it is disabled.  I will enable this and then retry to install the updated. I'll report back in a second posting on this thread whehter it works.  (I would leave this posting open and finish it later, but I'm afraid it woud all be lost when I reboot).

A:ENDLESS LOOP: Lenovo Vantage Tells Me To Update a Driver That Vantage Says Is Already Up to Date.

After enabling the driver in Windows Device Manager, then again trying to update, the update was successful. After another reboot, Lenovo Vantage no longer show that this needs to be updated.  I'm no programmer, but it seems to me that the Lenovo Vantage update program ought to be able to see whether a driver is disabled and to tell the user to enable it in order to allow successful of updating of the driver. My thinkpad X1 Extreme has been giving me trouble. I could really do with some advice from someone clever.

(1) When I run Lenovo Vantage my trackpad stops working. I need to restart before it will work again.
(2) It doesn't recognize some usb peripherals (which work fine with other machines)

So I used Windows restore - no change.

I download recovery software - not an easy task but after going through 4 clueless customer service people I found a guy who told me how to get past a web-glitch - and restore to original factory.

After restpre to Factory - Lenovo Vantage still borks the trackpad
The USB peripheral in question still won't work
And now there a pink tint to text whenever I scroll. It makes working in Word really annoying.

Is there any way I can fix these things? I have veyr little faith in lenovo support. I do have on site next day warranty but again, my trust level with Lenovo support is very low. I'm a little past the 30 days in which I can return and tbh I love the machine  so want to keep if possible.

Any advice? Did I just get a lemon? Is Lenovo Vantage freezing trackpad a common issue? Is the pink text while scrolling a color calibraton issue that can be fixed? Should I bite the bullet, call customer service again and try to set up a repair?

Thanks so much for any advice!

A:Conservation Mode

hi behrouz,

Thanks for Posting!

This mode controls the Firmware that controls the battery,
And yes it stops the charging when it reaches 60% to prevent over charging and lessen charge and discharge rate.
This is most suggested for system that is always Plugged in to the Ac adapter,

Best Regards

I've had my Windows 10 Ideapad for about a month, and have had no problems with it.  This morning, when I turned it on, I got a message saying the battery needed to be charged and showed it was down to 10%.  I turned it off and plugged it in.  After 5+ hours, it will now not boot up at all.  The little light next to the plug is on and so is the one that is the system status indicator.  Aside from those 2 lights, there is nothing - no light, no sound, nada.  I tried holding the power button down for 30+ seconds - still nothing. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

My device: Lenovo 2013 IdeaPad Z400 Touch 20220OS: Windows 10Issue: Battery indicates "Plugged in and not charging"; it is at 0%; if I unplug the charger, it immediately shuts off. History:- I had a similar problem 3 months ago. After no issues for 4 years, my battery suddenly wouldn't charge higher than 50%, at which point it would indicate "Plugged in and not charging." I downloaded Lenovo Energy Management and changed the settings to "Optimal battery life". This fixed the problem.- I have since kept my battery in "Optimal battery health" mode, and I rarely used my laptop unplugged. The program says my battery health is "good"- Yesterday, I used my laptop unplugged, and it died without its usual warning. I plugged it in, left it for awhile, turned it on, and the battery had not charged at all, which has never happened before.  Fix attempts:- Went to Lenovo Energy Management and put it in "Optimal battery life", restarted computer; nothing.- Downloaded Lenovo Settings, my computer was NOT in conservation mode.- Tried to run the battery firmware update as suggested by Lenovo in this forum. I downloaded it, launched it, and it has not moved past the first step ("Welcome to the Lenovo Battery Firmware Update ToolNow configuring the program..."). The top corner indicates v00.65, even though I downloaded Version 1. I waited for hours, then exited, reinstalled the program, and the same issue is occuring. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Since it just happenned yesterday , doing system restore can be a quick fix.
You may jump back to a working restore point to restore settings and files that Conservation initially have .
This restore can be undone too. Clicke here for the guide .
