Q: Yoga 3 Pro: Speaker stopped working (headset jack ...

Recently purchased Yoga 3 Pro (Windows 8.1) from Lenovo website (2 months ago). The speaker has been working fine until yesterday. All of a sudden, the speaker stopped working, after I used the headset. Now, only headset works, and no sound can come out of the speaker. I've updated the speaker RealTek driver to a newer version 9/2014. It did not help. Does anyone have any idea on what might be the cause and how to fix it? Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I had to have the hard drive replaced in my computer due to a defect in the drive. Ever since the hard drive was replaced, the head phone plug-in that is on the face of the tower does not work, but the speaker plug-in that is located in the back of the tower, works just fine.

I cannot figure out what is wrong. The audio driver installed for my system was obtained from the Dell website along with the majority of my other drivers.
Any help would be great.

A few hours my headset mic stopped working on my computer and stopped picking up sound from me. It wasn't the mic's problem as it worked on another pc but not mine and was not working with Skype or any recording program. I have uninstalled the ITD Driver, loaded defaults, enabled the device and checked the volume settings with nothing fixing this problem. I am on a HP Pavilion DV7 Laptop running Windows 7 64 bit. The weird part about this is that my mic was working fine a few hours ago and then when I decided to use it again it just stopped. When I go to sound options and try to put in the headset jack in the side, the green bars light up to show that the jack is inserted, but when I talk it takes in nothing. I have tried almost everything including restoring the system to an earlier date and at this point have no idea what to do.

Help is greatly appreciate thank you!

A:Headset Mic Jack not working

Some things to check... 1. Doesn't your laptop have a built in mic? If so, see if that works. That may help narrow things down as to whether it is all audio inputs not working or just your headset input 2. Check Control Panel Device Manager to make sure you don't have any yellow exclamation points indicating a driver not installed correctly. 3. Check Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Sound, Manage audio devices, to make sure the correct device is showing up, selected, and configured.

Hello I've bought my Lenovo laptop about half a year ago. From the very beginning the headphone audio jack had some problems, there would be no sound when headphones are plugged in, however restarting the laptop usually helped. I have not had this problem for a few months until now. When I plug in headphones, no sound comes out and restarting the computer does not help. Furthermore, the sound of the laptop speakers seems to be a big different than it normally used to be - the sound is a bit lower and so to say ''dimmer''. Please let me know I could fix it.

I recently bought a Plantronics headset, and plugged it in my microphone jack. It says "Line IN" when I try to use it with audacity, but when I record, and even yell into it, nothing shows up on the line. My laptop has 2 headphone jacks and a mic jack. Could this be the problem?

A:Plantronics Audio .326 Headset not working on Inspiron 1525 Mic Jack

If you have plugged the microphone part of the headset into the "Mic" jack on the PC and using the "line in" to listen that is incorrect. Generally, Audacity uses the "Stereo Mix" to record. With Stereo Mix set as the default recording device any input is "heard".

Second, if you are plugging the mic into the "line In", that is incorrect and the mic will never work. A computer mic needs +5V DC to operate. The Mic in jack has the 5V, a line in does not and is a stereo (2 channel) input.

You list a Dell Desktop in your System Specs but are referring to a Dell Inspiron 1524 "Laptop". ???

Hi guys,

I have a USB Headset that I have used several times in the past but now I find I cannot hear anything. Volumes OK, indicator light is on etc.
Hears what is my Device Manager re. Sound, Video and Game controllers:-
- Audio Codecs,
- AVerMedia H788 PCIe Hybrid Analog/ATSC,
- Legacy Audio Drivers,
- Legacy Video Capture Devices,
- Media Control Devices,
- Realtek High Definition Audio,
- USB Audio,
- Video Codecs.

Double clicking each of the above reports that each is 'working properly.'
There are no warning or other icons associated with any of the above.

I have a volume control at the right-hand end of the task bar which, it indicates is related to Realtek HD Audio Output. It is not muted and the volume is set mid-way.

I also have a Realtek HD Audio Manager icon on the same right-hand end; when I choose it, it displays an ASUS control panel for what looks like various sound programs. I do not use this.

What I am wondering is if there is a device conflict of some sort with any of the above devices. I suspect the AVerMedia and the Realtek are in conflict, but that's just this idiot's opinion.

Any ideas how I could get my headphones workjing again?

Could I disable / remove any of the above devices/drivers without limiting my audio or video enjoyment?

I have a Speedlink Medusa 5.1 headset and Asus Xonar DS sound card and they've both been great ever since I bought them, but yesterday I turned on my PC and my microphone wasn't working. I tried it with Ventrilo and the windows sound recorder but neither of them picked up any sound.
In the windows input devices the microphone is still ticked and is "working" but obviously it is not. I have made sure it isn't muted and that is selected in the Xonar DS control panel and I've tried a system restore but still nothing.
I havn't changed any settings or installed any new hardware recently so that shouldn't be a problem. I've tried my headset in a different PC and it works fine, I've also plugged a different mic into my pc but it didn't work either.
I had to transport my pc in the back of my car a few days ago and I've got a feeling that some connection might have come lose during transport, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start when fixing it.
Any help would be appreciated,

Hello everyone,

I have a Fatal1ty Creative headset which i am very fund of, but today the mic stopped working for some reason. I didn't change any settings or anything like that. My PC (vista) knows that the mic is connected, and it stands as "working" (which it is clearly not). I have tried to use the mic on another pc, but it didn't work their either. If I go to control panel -> sound and think the microfon, the green bar doesn't go up if i speak. However, if i tap the microfon hard, i can get small spikes of green bars.

The sad thing is that this is the SECOND of these excact headset microfones that stopped working for me. I had another headset just like this many years back, which suddenly got the same problem. We thought it was the wiring, because it looked a bit damaged. But this headset is newer and it doesn't have any visible damage atleast.

I'm kinda desparate, i use this headset all the time for talking on skype, so it would be great if I didn't have to buy a new headset again.

Thanks in advance

Hello. I tried a lot of different things before registering here and asking for help. I have already dealt with Logitech's customer support, and finally after trying a few things that they sent to me, they said to contact either Microsoft or my computer's manufacturer for further assistance. I don't want to have to pay to fix this problem, so hopefully someone on here will know what to do.

I have a Logitech USB Headset, and it worked fine for about six months or so. It all of a sudden one day just stopped working, and I didn't change any system settings, or install or uninstall anything new. The only thing I did before I realized it stopped working was allow Windows XP to do it's updates. I even tried to uninstall the updates to fix the problem, and that did not work. While it is connected to the computer, it shows up under the Device Manager, but a yellow exclamation mark is next to it. When trying to update the driver, it goes through all the motions, and finally it says after trying:

"There was a problem installing this hardware: Logitech USB Headset. An error occured during the installation of this device. A service installation section in this INF is invalid."

I have tried connecting the headset to other USB ports, and it still does not work. I tried connecting it to another computer, and it works just fine. So it cannot be the actual product, but something within my computer.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know, because I&... Read more

Hi guys, I know this is my first post so I'm sorry that it is to ask for help.

I own a set of Turtle Beach X11 headphones that I originally bought for use with my 360. However, I discovered I could use them for PC too so I now use them primarily for teamspeak and such. To start with I had no problem setting it up: Just plugged in the USB lead, mic lead into pink jack, audio into green jack and everything worked fine without the need for drivers or any set up.

Everything has worked fine for weeks but all of a sudden my microphone is no longer detected by my PC. The headset speakers work fine, I can hear other people but they cant hear me. The weird thing is I can hear myself speak through the speakers when i speak into the mic, so clearly it isnt a hardware issue but something else has changed by itself.

The only thing I did before the mic stopped working (Aside from use teamspeak like normal) was to install hamachi and to try and use the STEAM voice chat feature, out of curiosity. I first assumed that one of these had maybe interfered so I did a rollback but that didnt help.

I have tried all the basic stuff and am pretty sure my sound card drivers are up to date that I know of but any help would be very much appreciated.

P.S. I have an ASUS motherboard with a built in sound card. Here is a dxdiag just in case it helps:

Well as the Threat implies my headset microphone just stopped working. I searched all over but couldn't find a solution thus far. First i thought something is wrong with the driver but the build in microphone works. People suggested to right click the sound button -> Recording Devices -> Microphone and then click the Configure button. I am however unable to do this because it doesn't let me hit the button its just grey.

Also if possible i would like to install Realtek audio driver but everytime it finishes installing and i reboot i end up with the vista driver >(

Hey,  I have a YOGA 710 and I recently bought an external mic due the genius placement of the built in mic and because I started playing games with my friends recently. I got a Y-splitter along the mic and was told by the seller that I needed to select the MIC-IN option in the Realtek Audio Manager to use the mic. I did that and the mic works through the splitter but my external speaker won't work and sound is playing through the built in speaker. If I select the other option in the Audio Manager (headset/headphones) the speaker works but the mic won't. I just can't seem to get both to work at the same time.  I tested the splitter with my phone and everything was working fine. I googled this and I saw some posts saying that the audio card in the motherboard might not support the Y-splitter that allows me to use both mic and speakers together. So I'm here asking if there is anyone with a similar problem. I'm currently using the MIC-IN option with my wireless headset until I can solve this issue.

I am knew on the board. Greetings

I installed a NEW Logitech USB Headset 350 onto my Winows XP Service Pack 2 generic 'puter.

I now have no speaker sound and no option shows except the headset and "Modem #1 line ".

It sorta looks like I have no speaker drivers .

Unplugging the headset does not help.

Anybody know how to fix this problem so I am not forced to wear a headset for audio ALL OF THE TIME ?

A:Installed new USB Headset NOW no speaker audio even if I unplug the headset

Yeah, my USB headset was a little weird at first as well.

Try going into your volume control (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control):
1. Click Options
2. Properties
3. Change the mixer device from the USB headset to your speakers.

Should work.

Also should note you can change the output settings in most audio software (for example: Windows Media Player, Winamp, etc.) so if you can't hear anything from your speakers when using those programs, try fiddling with those settings as well. I know for Winamp it's Options > Preferences > Plug-ins > Output > double-click the plug-in you use (mine is out_ds.dll) and again change it to your speakers using the drop down menu.

Unfortunately after that, the microphone stopped working. The headset part (speakers) still work, but the microphone doesn't. Hi. The sound suddenly stopped working in one of my speakers. However, it's not the speaker's fault. When I switched the ports in the back of my subwoofer, I discovered that both speakers did in fact work. So I figured that maybe that port on my sub was what's causing the problem. But, I plugged my headphones into my sound card, and discovered that music was only coming out of the left ear of my headphones as well. Futher, my speakers are plugged into the front port of my computer (through integrated audio i'm assuming, as it's attached directly to the motherboard) and my headphones were plugged into my soundcard in the back of my computer. So I figure that eliminates the soundcard being the problem. My last resort was drivers. I disabled, re-enabled, uninstalled drivers, reinstalled drivers, and tried a driver rollback as well. None of which solve the problem. Any thoughts?

Edit: Issue was just resolved by switching my speakers to the soundcard and headphones to front port. Anyone know why that fixed it though?

A:Sound stopped working in one speaker

Because your front audio ports are by design to be used for headphones and microphone. When you plug something into them they interrupt the signal to the back audio jack. My guess is the subwffr jack wasn't quite in all the way or didn't make perfect connection and it let 1 channel to front and 1 channel to rear.

Hey guys! I've had my Aspire E14 for a few months now. I was using it today to play music when suddenly, one of the speakers stopped working. The left speaker literally stopped mid-song. I checked the volume mixer, and when I tried minimizing the volume of the right speaker (the working one), I couldn't hear anything, so I know that the left one's busted. I haven't dropped my laptop ever or anything like that, so I don't really know what happened. I haven't tried anything yet aside from restarting, because I might tweak something that I'm not supposed to, so I wanted to ask around first. What should I do and what do you guys think happened here? Hello there everybody,

I usually don't post any new threads on forums, but at this point, I am getting desperate for help ; _ ;

My problem:
I guess a lot of people know the programm Skype.. well, my microphone worked fine with Skype! Other people were able to hear me very good. It all went very smooth.. for a few weeks at least...

I don't really know HOW I did it, but somehow, my mic stopped working from one to another day... I already checked if my mic wasn't just broken (occurs to me a lot >.>), but it wasn't, as it was still working on my sis' computer (WinXP too, also Skype).. I also noticed that all of my Bureau-Accessories were missing :S... Things like volume control, paint, and games like patience and pinball... Gone!

At this point, I thought about using the internet to find a solution... I also used TechSupportGuy forums, but nowhere was an answer to find... (well, maybe there is, but I didn't found it *yet)...

I hope i have described my issue well now, and I also hope, that there might be somebody out there, who knows how to fix this problem...
(P.S. I managed to recover my paint and my volume control, by putting the mspaint.exe and the sndvol32.exe back in my system32 folder)

Hi, first post

headset works fine for 7 seconds, then turns itself off over and over

I have a year old Logitech G930 USB wireless headset that just stopped working today. At around noon I went to an appointment and left the headset unplugged. I came home about an hour later to find the headset turned off. No surprise there, probably ran out of batteries as it was unplugged. I turn it on just to check, and to my surprise it worked. Seven seconds later, it beeped to notify me that it had turned off. No problem, I plugged it in and waited a few minutes, turned it on, and the same thing happened. Seven seconds, then off. Something to note, the seven seconds and working perfectly fine, there's no humming or buzzing or screeching noise.

When it was working normally, I could have it turned on while plugged in, so I tried it this way, and it still powered off after seven seconds. This has never happened before. I tried all of the normal things, rebooted my computer, switched to a different USB, and tried to use it on a different computer, all to no avail. The only things I am yet to try is updating/reinstalling my drivers, which I doubt is the problem seeing as it doesn't work on more than one computer, and installing the Logitech headset software, which I also doubt is the problem as I've had this headset for roughly a year and I haven't needed this. I'll keep you posted if I find a fix, I'm downloading the software as I type this - in the... Read more

Alright, so here's the problem. I just recently got this computer and plugged it into the VGA port and the sound wouldn't work. I plugged Logitech External Speakers into it and the computer didn't even acknowledge that it was there. I plugged in Headphones to see if those worked and they didn't aswell. I asked the guy who I got the computer from and he said that it (sound) would work when plugged in using HDMI. So I did that and the sound does work, but only through the TV speakers. It still doesn't acknowledge the speakers or the headphone s when plugged in. Hello my 8 month old yoga mic was working fine until the driver was auto updated, i believe through windows update and now the yoga cannot hear me at all.  I uninstalled the Realtek driver and installed the Microsoft HD drivers under Sound, video and game controllers with no change.   My yoga was also updated to Win 10, ver 1809 at this time, which i hear is buggy.  I also installed the latest Realtek drivers from Lenovo and that did not fix the problem either. I turned off Beam forming in the Realtek HD manager and that did not make a difference either!! Please Help,, this is so frustrating!!!!!

Since the Windows 10 anniversary update my headphone jack no longer works. It worked fine until then. Now, when I plug headphones in the system recognises the fact and a message pops up saying  'you have just plugged a device into the audio jack', but no sound comes through them. If I unplug them, the message is displayed that I have unplugged them. I have tried 3 different sets of earphones, so they are not the problem. Anyone else had this issue and come up with a solution?

Hello, I am using the Yoga 900-13ISK Signature EditionI am running Windows 10 Professional Version 1607, build 14393.321My realtek audio driver version is 10.0.14393.0 from July 15, 2016. I recently updated my audio drivers to the version listed above. I hear no audio from the speakers and when I plug in headphones I hear a "heartbeat" sound, a continual thumping of around 4 beats per second. The headphones and speakers were working before the driver update. I also sometimes use a USB Thinkpad Display Link and when I plug my headphones into the audio port there the sound is fine. I do get a notification from Realtek when I plug in and unplug the headphones. I have uninstalled and reinstalled (with reboots in between) multiple times but I have not been able to get this working. Please advise. My issue is similar to this existing post https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-900-audio-jack-not-working/m-p/221025...

Hi all-I'm hoping this community can help. When I plug in my headphones (just the pair that come with my iPhone), nothing happens. Not a thing. It's like they're not even there. The speakers just keep working, and there is no registration of the headphones even exisiting. 2 days ago, the audio jack/headphones worked like a charm. Now nothing. I've tried a bunch of different video tutorials, but they all assume that the computer detects the headphones. This is not happening. I have tried reinstalling the drivers, and nothing. I've reached the limit of my expertise. Is this a hardware issue? Do I need to take the thing in to get it fixed? Thanks for your help!

I just bought a Yoga 900, with windows 10 64-bit on it. When I do plug a headphone in the jack, the computer doesn?t recognize it ( no pop-up window saying ?you just plugged a device into the audio jack?) and of course the sound go through the speaker and not through the headphone. I have uninstall the realtek driver (version, reboot the computer, reinstall the latest driver (version, But it?s still not working. I have also uninstall the latest driver, and reinstall the previous one, without any result. The problem does not come from the headphone as it is working on other Lenovo yoga product.I have also downloaded the latest driver for the BIOS in case of? but no change. Is it really a driver issue or the jack plug is faulty? Any suggestion to make it work?

A:Yoga 900 - audio jack not working?

Hi  Bgeorges,
Welcome to the Forums
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with the audio jack in your Lenovo Yoga 900 laptop.
Connect an earphone and right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar, if the speaker icon is not present on the taskbar go to control panel select sound option. Under this select playback devices and check if the earphone is detected if yes select and click on set default and check.
Let us know the result.
Best regards,

Hello! Sorry, im new around here! :S

Basically, my HP DV6-3065EA running Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) laptop died. I went into a computer shop and asked how much a simple diagnostic test would be to find out how much a repair would be. He quoted me ?90. Phew, jog on! That wasn't going to happen!
Anyway, I decided to replace the power jack. No hard job, just a simple unplug and plug back in job. (looks abit like this Hp power jack image by chikyeung on Photobucket). I replaced it; everything is running fine.
I tried to put a USB pen drive into a usb socket. Didn't work. Tried another, didn't work. I have tried several devices and they all work on other computers but don't seem to be working on mine.
I have been trawling the internet for answers, and as of yet, nothing -.-! I wouldn't call myself a novice, trust me, I've tried everything, uninstalling and reinstalling all of the USB drivers, checking bits of the registry.etc. Nothing. So today, i thought, right, WIPE THE COMPUTER! I backed up everything, went back to scratch.
Tried another USB, didn't work.! Im completely puzzled!

Please help!!!

Thanks for reading! ;D

Oh, one more thing. When the laptop was unusable, I removed the hard drive and put it into another computer to retrieve some files. Could this have anything to do with it?

Any help is greatly acknowledged!!

A:USB Ports Stopped working after an Internal Power Jack is replaced.

It sounds rather as if your new part somehow isn't diffusing 5 volts to the correct circuits, which is what USB relies upon. Could be a bent pin or misaligned plug on those pins, or a broken wire.

This happened when I first upgraded from Vista to 7 32-bit last year, when the front output jack stopped working, and I ended up getting an extension cord to travel from the rear port.

Now I've upgraded again, and none of them work. I've got up to date Realtek codecs.

Any help is appreciated. I know I need to give more information, but it's 3am here and I can't for the life of me think what it should be.

Thanks in advance

A:(Realtek) Upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit, headphone jack stopped working

I tried everything, something isn't right here all of them don't fix my problem. I tried to restore to early time before I update it, it didn't work. I tried to follow every single instruction from the basic setting, still doesn't work. THIS IS WINDOWS FAULT, their market share is going down and they do little trick to make money. I tried to contact support and it says, "charge may apply." ONLY BECAUSE I HAVE OEM in my ****ing product ID.

My hardware is TOTALLY FINE, I believe yours too. WHY I know mine is fine? BECAUSE I USE UBUNTU ON THE SAME DEVICE! Open Source is your friend, you can trust it.

Hi, I've had this issue off and on since I purchased this yoga 910 over a year ago. The sound randomly stops working (not even after an update - just out of the blue) and a red x appears on the speaker icon. Clicking the speaker icon will make the troubleshooter search for fixes, but to no avail. In the past, the issue would solve itself after a few days and the sound would randomly come  back, but recently the issue has been persisting. I've tried updating the sound driver, restarting, reinstalling Windows and installing a new audio driver, but nothing works. I'm running Windows 10.

So the other day i was spinning a fidget-spinner whilst watching a video on my laptop but then the spinner dropped and hit the keyboard, and when this happened the screen went completely black and there was this terrifying loud grinding noise like the laptop was screaming in pain or something, then i held the power button until it shut down. And then when i restarted the computer everything seemed fine until today when i realised the headphone jack isn't working. I've tried it with two headphones so far. How the heck could this happen? are Dell laptops so fragile that a fidget-spinner could permanently damage it? or is there a fix somewhere that i'm missing.

A:Dell XPS 15 (9560) headphone jack stopped working after a bizarre crash.

Thank you for your message. This could be just a coincidence that the audio jack has stopped working.Run a hardware diagnostic by following this link http://bit.ly/2fJuGXBDo you get any pop-up message when you plug in the headphone? Is the audio normal on the system speakers?Open device manager- expand sound & audio- right click on the audio driver & click on uninstall ( do not check the box that says delete driver). Restart the computer, this will refresh the audio driver. For my reference, click on my Dell username & send a private message with the service tag, registered name & email address.

I have the ThinkPad X1 Carbon.  My headphone is perfectly fine. When I plug into the headphone jack, there is no audio from the headphones just the speakers. I plug and unplug my headphones several times to make sure but the audio still plays through the speaker. I tried this with 3 other headphones and the same happened. I tried everything to fix the issue: updating the drivers, changing the RealTek setting to multi-stream, setting the Speaker/HP as default, etc. you name it. When I plug in my headphones, it doesn't appear as a device. I don't think it's a hardware problem. Everything was perfectly fine before but it suddenly stops working. Please help!

Dear Community I have problems with the audio on my Think Pad X380 Yoga. The internal speakers and the headphone jack aren't working. I tried to reinstall the audio driver several times. Every time I uninstall the Conexant SmartAudio HD driver the Notebook reinstalls the driver by itself after restart. I also tried to manually install it before rebooting the system. Which worked but didn?t fix the problem. At the moment driver version is installed, which should be the newest version. Does anyone have an idea what I could do? I can see the green audio output moving on the volume mixer in windows. And before you ask, yes I have tried to fix my sound problem with the Lenovo help site (https://support.lenovo.com/gr/de/solutions/ht501860). Thanks for any help!
