I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I forgot my hp probook 4230s bios password. I tried the combination keys for reseting the bios but i don't know exactly how to do this process. I also tried some software methods like cmospwd and some other methods but failed.I also tried removing the batteries both main and the time battery for about an hour but nothing is working. Please help if there is any solution. Thanks.

Hi,Skipped BIOS version F.61 rev.A which contained Intel Video BIOS update. After installing the latest BIOS version F.63 rev.A, the VBIOS version is still the same according to the HWINFO32 program. Is it possible to update the video BIOS separately, and how to do that? Yet I'm not sure if the VBIOS is worth updating. Any help? Thanks.Read other answers

Hi, Your notebook is producing a hexadecimal halt code which is stored in ram as a 'one off' and will be re-calculated after a reboot. This indicates you have one of the later AMI bios's and unfortunately none of the current code generators will work for this - surprisingly, you can still remove a power on password from the machine by removing the rtc cell ( leave the power board connected ) then hold down the power button for 60 seconds before re-inserting the rtc. The bad news is that the rtc is on the 'wrong' side of the system board so will require quite a lot of disassembly. Regards, DP-KRead other 1 answers

I have dowloaded SP76205 multiple times. When I double click on the file, I receive an error message: "The system BIOS file (c:\SWSetup\SP76205\hpqflash\ROM.CAB) is missing or corrupt. The system BIOS will not be updated." Looking at the files in the listed path, I find two zipped files (68SCE and 68SCF). Exploring the zipped files, I find efibios.sig, Rom.bin, Rom.sig, ver.sig and ver (a text file) in each zipped file. How can I update the BIOS so that I can install more RAM and will the upgraded BIOS allow me to install a 1TB hard drive in this notebook?Read other answers

The Service Manual: 6460b service manual says it uses 2d generation intel core processors and the 6460b does not support any quad cores. So the top of the line for you is an i7-2640m. If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.Read other 7 answers
My hp probook 6460b sound is very low on win 10,8.1 and 8 and i searched alot on the websites without finding any solutions
I bought this probook used, it turns on & runs okay on the AC charger/adapter, but will not turn on or run on just the battery alone. . The battery says it is charging ok and is now 100% charged , it still will not turn on without the adapter. Is this a laptop problem or could it be a bad battery?
HP's Support Assistant has a Battery Check tool you can use to find out the status of the battery
I work for HP. All opinions and comments are my own.
How do I disable the touchpad on my ProBook 6460b? I do a lot of wordprocessing, and having the cursor relocate whever I accidentally brush the touchpad is near crippling. I've googled, and checked through the forums here and elsewhere, and none of the recommendations I've found seem to apply. -there is no little white spot/button at the upper left corner to double tap. -When I go to Control Panel>Mouse, the touchpad is listed as "PS-2 compatible mouse" and there is no option I can find to disable it. Under Device Manager, I have the option to Uninstall the driver, but not to disable it. Also, somebody tell the HP hardware designers that having an easily identifiable switch, a hardware one preferably, to disable the touchpad is a HUUUUUUUGE plus. The lack of such presents a clear danger of making me never buy HP again.

I have an employee out on a ship in the middle of the ocean. He has limited email attachment sizes. His laptop was joined to our domain at work. He joined his laptop to the workgroup of the ship... He does have some basic bootable floppies and probably even has some version of DOS on disk also...

i was messing around a few weeks ago and since i have moved and set up my computer again i cannot remember how to log on as administrator. i cannot remember the password. and i also think i might have changed the user name. is there a back door into windows 2000. there must be a way to go in and reset passwords and such. i can get in as a regular user but not as administrator. please help. i have screwed up
try open the control panel, then the User Accounts, ( if 2k is like XP ) and there you can change the way you log onto windows, and create or delete a user account, then re-boot into your new user profile.
If an XP administrator (home version) forgot his password and did not make a password backup and the hint isn't working is their a way to get it?
What do you have to do then. The administrator remembers the users pw but not his administrators.
Try using ctr+alt+del in the "welcome now tell me your password" screen
Thanks to Augie 65 for her prompt answer to my question. I visited the site and learned I must have a working floppy drive ( I don't) or cd burner capabilities (I don't). My problem remains that I can't remember the administrator password and therefore cannot install new software, among other things. Is it possible to delete the operating system and reinstall it again, thereby being able to create a new administrator password? Any other options that don't call for me to use a floppy or a cd burner would also be appreciated. Thanks
If you have everything you need for a reinstall, that would be one possibility. Just make sure you have all the necessary drivers for all your hardware. Too often people blindly recommend doing a format and reinstall and need to make sure all that is in place first.
You can also backup or document any important data or things like e-mail configurations before you do as well.
Also, if you want, I would be glad to mail you a bootable CD with the software to reset your password. Send me an e-mail if you like.
Please help.. if there's any way i can prove that i forgot my notebook's password.. what program should i get or how can i find it! Is there any way i could start another administrator's account? I don't want to lose my information.
Please any answer will be a really appreciated.
Sorry. We can't help with that, as you seem to know.
My administrator password seems to have either dropped down a rabbit hole, or I've forgotten it. I use it to logon to my pc for everything ,I know I should have two accounts, one user and one administrator. If I ever get back into my pc I'm definitely going to paint the administrator password on the wall in front of me. All the Windows 7 tutorials that I'm seen so far have to do with finding/restoring/resetting a "user" password, not the administrator. So does anyone out there have a fix that will allow me to get to my desktop?
Hello daddytreefrog, and welcome to Seven Forums.
Option Three or Option Four in the tutorial below may be able to help reset your password.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium, 32bit. I used System Tools and did a Disk Cleanup. However, when I tried to boot it up after the process, it asked for my Administrator Password. Why we have to have an Administrator User Account, I have no idea--especially when you can't get into it. I don't remember putting a password on for the Administrator Account. I have another User Account that I can get on the computer with, but I have pictures, videos, documents, etc. on the Administrator Account that I now cannot recover. Is there anything I can do, other than reinstalling Windows?
