I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Calculating hours worked by duration - Pivot Tables

Hi Daniel, welcome to the board!

I'm not sure what you're saying here, because in your post you show time format, but in your file you show numerical format. Maybe it would help to differentiate between the two, because it makes a HUGE difference.

Let's start with dates. In Excel, 1 day is 1 numerical integer. That's why you can take today's date (i.e. =TODAY() ) and do =TODAY()+1 and get tomorrow's date. So we can do math on dates.

Now dates wouldn't be the same unless we could do time as well. How do they do that? Well, time is a fraction of a day, so it makes sense that time in Excel should be a fraction of a day there as well. Since one day is 1 whole number, 0.5 would represent 12 hours. Basically a numerical expression of time, i.e. if you had 12 in a cell and wanted to format as time, would actually be 12 days. If you wanted to convert it mathematically you would do =A1/24, or whatever cell housed your value. Take that number, divide by the total number of hours in a day. Unless we start getting longer days (I have a request in), that number won't change.

So formatting as time, i.e. 00:00, hh:mm, [h]:mm, etc, you'll be seeing that numbers fractions. So 1.5 with a format of [h]:mm would show 36:00. Make sense? It's 36 hours, or a day and a half.

If you're going to have your format as time, you should have your numbers as time as well. Or wait until your numbers come out, then do your mathematical frenzied trick... Read more

Hi BC!
Yesterday, I left my laptop running while downloading a youtube video in the background. To my surprise, when I woke up today and checked my laptop, there was an error message that 'Please Free Up Disk Space'. Yesterday before leaving my laptop, the free disk space on the C: (Windows Directory) was around 10 GB but today when I checked it, it said 0 Bytes free space.
I checked some programs if there was anything unusual hiding in there but did not find anything. Furthermore, till 2-3 days ago FRST was running absolutely fine but today when I ran it, it gave me an error "Variable Used Without Being Declared" on some line number which I do not remember. The error came up as soon as FRST started scanning the system.
You would notice that there is now space on the C: drive but that was after I uninstalled a game which freed up around 10GB.
That is why I downloaded OTL and have attached a log file of that. DDS does not run on Windows 8.1 and hence OTL.
I hope someone is able to guide me here.

Hi folks,

We need to run a Data Collector Set, to continuously monitor performance of some machines. We created the DCS from a Basic template, configured and started ok.?
However, few hours later the DCS stops, and we get "Access Denied" error when we try to re-start it.?
Deleting the DCS and re-creating it resolves the issue for few hours, but then again the DCS stops few hours later with "Access Denied" error.?
We can not figure out what is causing it. ?
The issue happens to all our Windows boxes, old and new, running different OS, from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2016.?
Any ideas?

Hello Tech Support!
I have been experiencing an unstable desktop pc for about eight weeks now. I need help!! This pc is eighteen months old, purchased from ibuypower. It is running the original OS, OEM win7 64 bit which I freshly reinstalled last week. BSOD crashes, hardlock crashes, distorted image followed by a loud buzzing. Replaced the video card with another XFX AMD Radeon HD 6870, still crashing. Updated video driver, updated BIOS, ran disk check, ran sfc /scannow no integrity violations, ran mem86 for ten passes no errors, removed two memory stixs still crashing, put stixs in other two slots, still crashing. Tried two other stixs still crashing. Temps look good.
Have not tried driver verifier yet. A complete noob here. Would you please help me?

In Windows XP, fully updated, I have several folders full of mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

But all the figures in the "Duration" column appear to be in "hours" and "minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03", but what I want is "minutes" and "seconds".

Any thoughts as to how to change this?

I am running Windows XP SP3, fully updated, on an Acer lap top PC.

I have several folders full of .mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. To do this I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

The two new columns appear, but the format of the "Duration" column appears to be "hours:minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03" for most .mp3's, when what I want to see is 'hours:minutes:seconds", e.g. "00:03:45".

This also happens for video files (.avi files), e.g. all my episodes of "Heroes" (sad, I know) have a duration of "00:42" instead of "00:42:xx".

Here are two pictures showing the problem with the .mp3's. The first is of Explorer showing the Duration as "Hours:Minutes":

The second picture is of the properties window of the first .mp3 in the list above:

I copied some .mp3 files to another (old) PC on my home network, and it displayed the duration field correctly:

Also, the properties window correctly shows the duration also:

I'm not the only person to have this problem. I received a private message from a member of another forum where I posted about this problem several weeks ago. That person also has the same problem with the duration field.

My computer has been infected with a couple of different viruses over the last month (vista fix and I can't remember the name of the second one - scanner something). I have followed the tutorials on bleeping computer to remove them, yet my computer is still not behaving normally. I was following the steps on how to post and ran defogger and then DDS. DDS has been scanning for over 24 hours and is still going. Is this normal? I attempted this after the first virus and it ran for almost 2 days before I exited the program and gave up. Please let me know how to proceed.

A:DDS has run for over 24 hours and still going

I recommend stopping it and use an alternate. If you cannot get DDS to work, please try this instead. Please download RSIT by random/random from the link provided for your operating system and save it to your desktop. Link 1 for 32-bit version Link 2 for 32-bit version Link 1 for 64-bit version Link 2 for 64-bit versionThis tool needs to run while the computer is connected to the Internet so it can download HijackThis if it is not located on your system. If you get a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding RSIT attempting to contact the Internet, please allow the connection. Close all applications and windows so that you have nothing open and are at your Desktop. Double-click on RSIT.exe to start the program.
If using Windows Vista, be sure to Run As Administrator. Read the disclaimer and click Continue. When the scan is complete, a text file named log.txt will automatically open in Notepad. Another text file named info.txt will open minimized. Save the log files to your desktop and copy/paste the contents of log.txt by highlighting everything and pressing Ctrl+C. After highlighting, right-click, choose Copy and then paste the contents into a new topic in the Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs forum, NOT here. Copies of both log files are automatically saved in the C:\RSIT folder which the tool creates during the scan.-- Note: Do not post the contents of info.txt in your reply. How many hours can i open my computer so that it wont get trouble?
i've win7 ultimate.i have to download programmes,songs,etc late night.

A:How many hours can i?

It would depend on your computer and how hot it may run. If it runs reasonably cool, running a computer overnight shouldn't be a problem. Mine runs around 38?C most of the time (it's running around 41?C right now because the room is 28?C) and I run it 24/7 without any problems.

I don't know what to do with this one...
A guy calls up and tells me this:

I burnt a C++ program on your laptop (WinXP).
My date and time are set correctly (The CD was burnt on June 26, 2004 12:12 EDT).
I take the CD out and puts it in a Windows98 machine and it reads the CD was burnt on June 26, 2004 7:12PM.
The Win98 machine clock is set OK and so is CMOS time.

He cannot use it unless he adjusts his Win98 clock five hours ahead.
I checked his BIOS time and it was correct.
Double checked Windows time and it was correct, as well.
The guy was programming, so I figured he knew his way around a PC.
He was using the latest version of Nero.

I know that Eastern time in Windows says -05:00.
That is a five hour difference.
Would that have anything to do with it?

I had to forward that file up to a product specialist (embarrassing).

I'm scratching my head on this one...

I'm getting blue screens every few hours, whether I am playing a game, surfing the web, or not even sitting at my computer (I'll come back and it'll be restarted).

Lately the screen just flashes blue for a split second and the computer restarts, not even enough time to read anything. And those events don't seem to be saved to the minidump.

Things I've done so far:
Swap out all the RAM
Run chkdsk on OS drive
Reinstall Windows
Disable paging file (had quite a few blue screens saying something about "paged area" so figured it was worth a shot)
Take out any removable PCI card (RAID and wifi card)

I built this PC back in 2010, and only started having any sort of problems about two weeks ago. It's worth noting that I have eight hard drives in it, but they all seem to be working fine, SMART data checks out, etc. OS drive is an SSD - OCZ Vertex 2

A:BSOD every few hours

AVG is the cause of your BSOD's. Please remove it.

Probably caused by : avgldx64.sys ( avgldx64+a1b6 )

Based on the bugchecks, I would recommend you follow and complete the steps given below:1. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop. Reset any changed values back to default and reset/clear CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS. Uninstall any overclocking tool as these can also be a reason of blue screens.

2. Uninstall your current antivirus software. It can be a cause of BSOD very often. Please remove it with its removal tool and use Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. Malwarebytes is a great combination with it. Go through this thread for more info.

3. Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log

4. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to check windows for integrity violations. Run it up to three times to fix all errors. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations.

5. Make scans with Kaspersky TDSskiller and ESET Online scanner.

6. Perform a Clean Start up, this will help avoid any problematic applications from bugging the system.

7. Use Revo Uninstaller Free to uninstall stubborn software. Opt for Advanced Mode and uninstall the software, ... Read more

make sure it is placed into it's own folder, not a temporary folder. Then doubleclick the Hijackthis.exe.

Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.

I am wondering how many hours of video I should be able to put on a single DVD+R before the video quality suffers a lot. I've never attempted more than the suggested 120 minutes so I just thought I'd try my luck here before possibly wasting a disc. Here is the specific info:

Sony DVD+R
120 min/4.7 GB

Video files:
1 hour each; 700 MB
AVI Files
640x480 pixels
128kbps bit rate
MPEG Layer 3 audio format
XVID video compression

I was thinking that I could put 3 of these video files (3 hours of video) on just one DVD without much of a loss in quality. More? Less? Thanks in advance!

A:How many hours of video can I fit?

I put between 3 and 5 hours worth of video on each DVD disk when I burn them. I transfer files from my TIVO to my PC and then burn them as MPEG to play on my portable DVD player at the gym. Picture quality is pretty good even when I record on my TIVO at the lowest quality setting.

I got into Visual Basic because I do a lot of emailing based on an excel report I get daily from my company. The report contains many rows of assignments that are due.

There name can be found in column G. The email is to contain the id number and company name in the subject line which the id can be found in column A and the company in column Z. I have tried numerous forums and threads over the last week looking for help. I am generating 30 to 40 emails per day based on this excel spread sheet. I now that automation is the answer to saving me many hours (I am paid a pittance for pay working 60 plus hours a week 20 of it is spent sending this email) I have included a base example of the workbook no formatting mostly for a visual reference. Welcome .

Only one bugcheck is present in the file uploaded do you have any more?
Also some files are missing as well.

Download and save Info.bat to the desktop.
Attachment 291340

Open an elevated command prompt and then type the following command:

cd C:\Users\<Username>\Desktop
Then type:

The batch file will begin to run, the SystemInfo.txt file will be saved to your C:\ partition,
the MSINFO32 file will simply open, therefore click File and then Save.
Chose the save location as your Desktop, and then copy the two files into a zipped folder.

Upload the zipped folder in your next post.
The bugcheck was a 0x124 which is hardware problem(s), ehither thermals, aging or just plain DOA.

Internet works fine, but every few hours it stops working and google chrome says random stuff about dns probe not finished. Some times it takes like a few minutes to reconnect but other times it can take up to like 5 minutes.

I called my ISP a bunch of times and used the live chat on their website but they just told me to unplug **** each time and it never solved anything. Even got a new modem, but I still get dns errors. Contemplating switching from Bell to Rogers, but worried that the problem would still be there.

Here are some pictures of the modem log, I don't know what anything in there means so maybe some of you do.

I have actually been getting these BSODs for probably more than 6 months. However usually they only happen every 4-5 days and they would occur overnight so I could live with it. However just recently this past week, the BSODs started getting more and more frequent, usually happening every 4 hours or so. It occurs randomly, whether I'm just watching a youtube video, or playing games. What would happen is the screen gets all messed up like pulling the cartridge while playing a gameboy (lack of a better comparison) and will kick me to this message.

All related to hard disk problems. http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html would be helpful.
Your crashes could mean hard disk corruption, bad sectors, a failing hard disk, Windows files or registry corruption, viruses, or memory problems. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log (you may need to search for wininit instead of chkdsk).
For any drives that do not give the message:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
Windows has made corrections to the file system
after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

Run all Basic tests with SeaTools: S.M.A.R.T. Check, Short Drive Self Test, Drive Information, Short Generic, and Long Generic. Run the tests for all HDDs.SeaTools for Windows

If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:SSD firmware

Chipset Drivers
Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

No DMP'S included...

It is much easier to find patterns, etc, when there is more than one crash.
We prefer you wait until you have at least two so that if one is corrupt the other probably wont be.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).

Sounds like you might want to do a clean install.

Probably a good idea to invest in a BackUPS (uninterruptible power supply) for the future. Even if the computer is on and sitting idle, a power outage can corrupt system files.

Hope that helps.

Remove Gigabyte EasyTune, Gigabyte Easy Saver and 360 security guard/360 Security Center, they caused BSODs

Upgrade your Bluetooth Bluesoleil software, you have an obsolete version

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads
You can use MagicDisc as an alternative.

Downloda Malwarebytes
Update it then run a system scan

Uninstall Norton then use the removal tool for it. Set Windows Firewall and Windows Defender to Automatic and start them too.

And uninstall Daemon Tool Lite, replace with PowerISO:

Hello Pixelgrower,
You can stop the process with no problems.
I would recommend this Defragging tool, it's quick, easy to use, and it's free.

Download Auslogics Disk Defrag - Improve your computer's performance and stability - Softpedia

The drive will always blink, as it is continually writing to the system restore for a backup, and there is always a process accessing the HHD at one time or another.
Follow the link to download and give it a try, hope this helps, good luck and post your results.

I am running Windows 8.1 and have been experiencing an issue as of late, without any hardware or software changes. About every 4 hours, the OS will lock up, start stuttering any audio, and then the screen goes black and it reboots. This has happened while playing a game, watching Netflix, just browsing the web, seems about anything (oncej ust launching Google Chrome).

I have checked the event logs and don't see anything (only thing is the Critical under system and it says your system did not shut down properly, no errors before it). I am trying to see what I can troubleshoot to try and resolve the issue, but am not getting anywhere. Anything will help!

This laptop gets very little use, but unfortunately while using on battery power last month, checking emails, the power went off  for no reason. tried everything, hooking up to recharge, trying to find solution on line like resetting  battery but with no luck. Not once did any light come on or power return.  as i do not live in a town where i purchased the computer, a couple months went by before i got back to the store where purchased to learn that the warranty had "expired" 2 days before. i was told to contact ACER. I did.. A tech support live chat with a Roseny M was cordial until she realized it was "out of warranty" whereby she just hung up on me when i was trying to get return information and inquiring as to why this was not covered by warranty. Now i can't even get transferred to a supervisor.
MicroCenter where i bought thissaid it would probably run 1000 dollars to repair..i had just paid 1300 on purchase, and a 75 dollar diagnostic fee so again am thinking this should get a better response from ACER to fix a problem that appears to be congenital.  Has anyone else out there been able to fix this problem with out sending it to ACER, or been more successful than i have in even getting them to listen.  I used to buy a lot of ACER products but now it is my mission in life to get the word out about their customer support or lack thereof.
