I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Calculating hours worked by duration - Pivot Tables

Hi Daniel, welcome to the board!

I'm not sure what you're saying here, because in your post you show time format, but in your file you show numerical format. Maybe it would help to differentiate between the two, because it makes a HUGE difference.

Let's start with dates. In Excel, 1 day is 1 numerical integer. That's why you can take today's date (i.e. =TODAY() ) and do =TODAY()+1 and get tomorrow's date. So we can do math on dates.

Now dates wouldn't be the same unless we could do time as well. How do they do that? Well, time is a fraction of a day, so it makes sense that time in Excel should be a fraction of a day there as well. Since one day is 1 whole number, 0.5 would represent 12 hours. Basically a numerical expression of time, i.e. if you had 12 in a cell and wanted to format as time, would actually be 12 days. If you wanted to convert it mathematically you would do =A1/24, or whatever cell housed your value. Take that number, divide by the total number of hours in a day. Unless we start getting longer days (I have a request in), that number won't change.

So formatting as time, i.e. 00:00, hh:mm, [h]:mm, etc, you'll be seeing that numbers fractions. So 1.5 with a format of [h]:mm would show 36:00. Make sense? It's 36 hours, or a day and a half.

If you're going to have your format as time, you should have your numbers as time as well. Or wait until your numbers come out, then do your mathematical frenzied trick... Read more

Hi BC!
Yesterday, I left my laptop running while downloading a youtube video in the background. To my surprise, when I woke up today and checked my laptop, there was an error message that 'Please Free Up Disk Space'. Yesterday before leaving my laptop, the free disk space on the C: (Windows Directory) was around 10 GB but today when I checked it, it said 0 Bytes free space.
I checked some programs if there was anything unusual hiding in there but did not find anything. Furthermore, till 2-3 days ago FRST was running absolutely fine but today when I ran it, it gave me an error "Variable Used Without Being Declared" on some line number which I do not remember. The error came up as soon as FRST started scanning the system.
You would notice that there is now space on the C: drive but that was after I uninstalled a game which freed up around 10GB.
That is why I downloaded OTL and have attached a log file of that. DDS does not run on Windows 8.1 and hence OTL.
I hope someone is able to guide me here.

Hi folks,

We need to run a Data Collector Set, to continuously monitor performance of some machines. We created the DCS from a Basic template, configured and started ok.?
However, few hours later the DCS stops, and we get "Access Denied" error when we try to re-start it.?
Deleting the DCS and re-creating it resolves the issue for few hours, but then again the DCS stops few hours later with "Access Denied" error.?
We can not figure out what is causing it. ?
The issue happens to all our Windows boxes, old and new, running different OS, from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2016.?
Any ideas?

Hello Tech Support!
I have been experiencing an unstable desktop pc for about eight weeks now. I need help!! This pc is eighteen months old, purchased from ibuypower. It is running the original OS, OEM win7 64 bit which I freshly reinstalled last week. BSOD crashes, hardlock crashes, distorted image followed by a loud buzzing. Replaced the video card with another XFX AMD Radeon HD 6870, still crashing. Updated video driver, updated BIOS, ran disk check, ran sfc /scannow no integrity violations, ran mem86 for ten passes no errors, removed two memory stixs still crashing, put stixs in other two slots, still crashing. Tried two other stixs still crashing. Temps look good.
Have not tried driver verifier yet. A complete noob here. Would you please help me?

In Windows XP, fully updated, I have several folders full of mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

But all the figures in the "Duration" column appear to be in "hours" and "minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03", but what I want is "minutes" and "seconds".

Any thoughts as to how to change this?

I am running Windows XP SP3, fully updated, on an Acer lap top PC.

I have several folders full of .mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. To do this I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

The two new columns appear, but the format of the "Duration" column appears to be "hours:minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03" for most .mp3's, when what I want to see is 'hours:minutes:seconds", e.g. "00:03:45".

This also happens for video files (.avi files), e.g. all my episodes of "Heroes" (sad, I know) have a duration of "00:42" instead of "00:42:xx".

Here are two pictures showing the problem with the .mp3's. The first is of Explorer showing the Duration as "Hours:Minutes":

The second picture is of the properties window of the first .mp3 in the list above:

I copied some .mp3 files to another (old) PC on my home network, and it displayed the duration field correctly:

Also, the properties window correctly shows the duration also:

I'm not the only person to have this problem. I received a private message from a member of another forum where I posted about this problem several weeks ago. That person also has the same problem with the duration field.

I don't know what to do with this one...
A guy calls up and tells me this:

I burnt a C++ program on your laptop (WinXP).
My date and time are set correctly (The CD was burnt on June 26, 2004 12:12 EDT).
I take the CD out and puts it in a Windows98 machine and it reads the CD was burnt on June 26, 2004 7:12PM.
The Win98 machine clock is set OK and so is CMOS time.

He cannot use it unless he adjusts his Win98 clock five hours ahead.
I checked his BIOS time and it was correct.
Double checked Windows time and it was correct, as well.
The guy was programming, so I figured he knew his way around a PC.
He was using the latest version of Nero.

I know that Eastern time in Windows says -05:00.
That is a five hour difference.
Would that have anything to do with it?

I had to forward that file up to a product specialist (embarrassing).

I'm scratching my head on this one...

My computer has been infected with a couple of different viruses over the last month (vista fix and I can't remember the name of the second one - scanner something). I have followed the tutorials on bleeping computer to remove them, yet my computer is still not behaving normally. I was following the steps on how to post and ran defogger and then DDS. DDS has been scanning for over 24 hours and is still going. Is this normal? I attempted this after the first virus and it ran for almost 2 days before I exited the program and gave up. It would depend on your computer and how hot it may run. If it runs reasonably cool, running a computer overnight shouldn't be a problem. Mine runs around 38?C most of the time (it's running around 41?C right now because the room is 28?C) and I run it 24/7 without any problems.

Okay so let's get to the point, I am using Win 8 Pro. And i can't have my computer on for a long period of time and it annoys me because i live on the countryside so i don't get that good connection every one else has. Basically i come up to a maximum of 300kb/s when i download something like a movie or what not so it has to stay on the rest of the night to download it. But the thing is (this never happened before i rebooted my computer and got Win 8 Pro) the computer restarts and then i get this loud noise from the back of the computer it sound like a Hairdryer and i need help fixing it!

Sincerely, Filip.

Actually even though a computer can be left on all the time it is not a good thing to do for reasons that I will not go into here but they really should be shut-down periodically so they can be re-booted even just to refresh the defaults. nuff of this.

I would like you to install and run this from bootup and the instructions are ther e for that. It is speedfan and it tells about temperatures in a computer. Pleas epost the heat ranges to this thread.

I'm getting blue screens every few hours, whether I am playing a game, surfing the web, or not even sitting at my computer (I'll come back and it'll be restarted).

Lately the screen just flashes blue for a split second and the computer restarts, not even enough time to read anything. And those events don't seem to be saved to the minidump.

Things I've done so far:
Swap out all the RAM
Run chkdsk on OS drive
Reinstall Windows
Disable paging file (had quite a few blue screens saying something about "paged area" so figured it was worth a shot)
Take out any removable PCI card (RAID and wifi card)

I built this PC back in 2010, and only started having any sort of problems about two weeks ago. It's worth noting that I have eight hard drives in it, but they all seem to be working fine, SMART data checks out, etc. OS drive is an SSD - OCZ Vertex 2

AVG is the cause of your BSOD's. Please remove it.

Probably caused by : avgldx64.sys ( avgldx64+a1b6 )

Based on the bugchecks, I would recommend you follow and complete the steps given below:1. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop. Reset any changed values back to default and reset/clear CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS. Uninstall any overclocking tool as these can also be a reason of blue screens.

2. Uninstall your current antivirus software. It can be a cause of BSOD very often. Please remove it with its removal tool and use Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. Malwarebytes is a great combination with it. Go through this thread for more info.

3. Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log

4. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to check windows for integrity violations. Run it up to three times to fix all errors. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations.

5. Make scans with Kaspersky TDSskiller and ESET Online scanner.

6. Perform a Clean Start up, this will help avoid any problematic applications from bugging the system.

Welcome .

Only one bugcheck is present in the file uploaded do you have any more?
Also some files are missing as well.

Download and save Info.bat to the desktop.
Attachment 291340

Open an elevated command prompt and then type the following command:

cd C:\Users\<Username>\Desktop
Then type:

The batch file will begin to run, the SystemInfo.txt file will be saved to your C:\ partition,
the MSINFO32 file will simply open, therefore click File and then Save.
Chose the save location as your Desktop, and then copy the two files into a zipped folder.

Upload the zipped folder in your next post.
The bugcheck was a 0x124 which is hardware problem(s), ehither thermals, aging or just plain DOA.

A:Hours just to get to this point.

Let me tell you right up front, that the time it's going to take to clean this up is probably longer than a full reformat/reinstall would be. If you don't have anything worth saving on that PC, you may want to entertain this notion.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/ente...all_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site.

Please download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also go here to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

Right not sure where to begin really so hope all this will make sense.............

Bought this computer over the weekend

Ive got some burning software by the name of MySonicDVD on the PC but when trying to load it up comes up DMA disabled, well ive done everything to inable it....no joy.........so thought ive got Nero 5 somewhere, dug that out installed it and tried to use that, but it first came up couldnt be used as not correct bundle package (or something similiar), then manage to get sort of somewhere but it didnt like the fact it was an .avi.

So I remembered seeing a thread other day and DVD Flick was mentioned...........so yesterday dug out a DVD+RW to try it out, well I was a little dense so after about 2 hours, had to re-do it (please dont ask why as I was having a very bad blonde moment). Anyhow re-started the process, had to leave it as went to work, came home YIPPEEE it worked but took from 12.30pm until the OH came in, he couldnt use the puter as had slowed right down and it finally finished at 7pm.

Now nearly 7 hours to burn a dvd hmmmm, ive not got much of a life but a little bit of one to not waste 7 hours a time.

So can anyone help, recommend anything........tell me what I maybe doing wrong, or just call me thick I dont mind just some help guys/girlies.

Thank you

Edit * It seems there are some slight differences between the one the bloke advertises to the one I have*

A:my dvd has taken 7 hours to burn

I couldn't get your link to come up, but if I've got it right you are trying to burn a large .avi file, and you are getting messages from the system that you have DMA turned off to the DVD burner? Try this article to see how to turn on DMA for the drive. Having a drive in PIO mode could slow down burning like you describe. You might also have a relatively slow DVD burner, and if you don't have a lot of system memory, burning a large file or mastering a dvd could take a while. It is also possible that the drive is bad or there are errors in the file you are burning. To get right to device manager as mentioned in the article: click on start, then run, then type devmgmt.msc

Hello all,

I am new to the wonderful world of visual basic, and I have been having some issues trying to get something to work for me and was hoping on of you may be able to assist me. I got into Visual Basic because I do a lot of emailing based on an excel report I get daily from my company. The report contains many rows of assignments that are due.

I have to read this report check dates in column e against today's date - 5 days, so if the date in column E is less than 5 days from the current date I have check column F to see if there is an #N/A if there is I am to send the Person involved in an email. There name can be found in column G. The email is to contain the id number and company name in the subject line which the id can be found in column A and the company in column Z. I have tried numerous forums and threads over the last week looking for help. I am generating 30 to 40 emails per day based on this excel spread sheet. I now that automation is the answer to saving me many hours (I am paid a pittance for pay working 60 plus hours a week 20 of it is spent sending this email) I have included a base example of the workbook no formatting mostly for a visual reference. If any of you could help me out with a visual basic macro to do this for me I would be very humbled as my kids would get to see me a little more.

Okay, so friday night, I finished building a computer

ASRock P55m Pro

When I first booted up my computer, I clean installed Windows 7 Ultimate from a genuine upgrade disc I got from school. However, I realized that the key code only worked for upgrades, and not new installations. (I WAS SOO STUPID.. IF I KNEW ABOUT THE DOUBLE INSTALLATION THING NONE OF THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING) So, I grabbed a copy of a volume licensed XP from school and installed, formatting the Windows 7 partition, thinking that the upgrade would work once I had a licensed version of windows to build off of.

However, EVERY SINGLE TIME I get the the "expanding files" stage of windows 7 installation now, error 0x80070570 comes up, telling me that a file is missing or corrupted. I have searched nearly every thread on this forum, trying everything from reseating RAM, to resetting the CMOS, to checking the hard drives, to even borrowing another installation disc from a friend.

Someone please please help me. I am sooo frustrated. Especially since I had 7 running previously, but I formatted the hard drive....

Thanks in advance. Any help would be appreciated. Please don't refer me to another thread on this forum, I have read nearly all of them.

Also, as a note, I tried upgrading to Vista with another disc I got from school, however that installation failed during the copying phase and I got almost the exact... Read more

My computer has been completely wiped out and we've been trying to get Vista to reinstall on it and every time we get to the end of it where it is
installing updates then it pops up stating that "windows could not prepare
the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. To install windows,
restart the installation." Unfortunately every time I do it I get the same
problem. I need to know what to do get it fixed. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545
and am reinstalling Windows Vista Home Premium 64-SP1.

Someone mentioned reinstalling drivers and I am trying this from the Drivers and Utilites CD it came with, It says Insert the Installation media for the device and click OK to select the driver. When I click OK I see all kinds of files and text pads that I don't understand, I see nothing about drivers thus I am stuck at a standstill!! URGH!!!

Hello Pixelgrower,
You can stop the process with no problems.
I would recommend this Defragging tool, it's quick, easy to use, and it's free.

Download Auslogics Disk Defrag - Improve your computer's performance and stability - Softpedia

The drive will always blink, as it is continually writing to the system restore for a backup, and there is always a process accessing the HHD at one time or another.
Follow the link to download and give it a try, hope this helps, good luck and post your results.

I started getting BSOD recently and tried to overlook it but there seems to be a real problem behind it. I had 2 different BSOD within 2 days, one of SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION and a second of PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.
If it helps it started not long after I moved to an SSD. I've uploaded the minidups I've gathered.

Before checking the crash dumps, are you 100% sure the firmware for it is up to date?
