I got the pjg.exe and plivya.exe viruses today - now MSE wont work.

Q: I got the pjg.exe and plivya.exe viruses today - now MSE wont work.

I admit that I downloaded something I shouldn't have... but now MSE wont run at all. anyone seen these before and how to get rid of them? Thanks!

Preferred Solution: I got the pjg.exe and plivya.exe viruses today - now MSE wont work.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: I got the pjg.exe and plivya.exe viruses today - now MSE wont work.

Download and run malwarebytes (freeware version), let it clean whatever it wants.

A:Infected by viruses, google wont work etc

Hi Lord Snooty,Welcome to BC HijackThis forum. I am farbar. I'm afraid I have got bad news.Your computer is infected with one of the nastiest file infectors:Virut is a polymorphic file infector with some additional features. It spreads all around the drive and infects even files infected by another virus previously. The only symptoms are a strange HDD activity while infecting, and also unwanted TCP traffic. Virut tries to connect you into an IRC network under the user name "Virtu" and zombify you. Unfortunately, the cleaning of this virus is very difficult or almost impossible. The virus remains resident in memory and infects executable files with ".EXE" and ".SCR" file extensions. It's damage to the system is almost beyond repair as it disables Windows File Protection:The virus disables Windows File Protection by injecting code into the "winlogon.exe" process that patches system code in memory.http://www.ca.com/us/securityadvisor/virus...s.aspx?id=55141Therefore all those running processes are most probably now the virus agent. The only fast and safe answer to the virus is reformatting and reinstalling windows. You may backup non-executable (data) files and reformat the entire hard drive.Note that the files with the following extensions should not be backed up:exe/.scr/.htm/.html/.xml/.zip/.rar/.asp/.php

Hi guys.

I just wanted to share a little story with you guys.

My mom's friend purchased a RCA Lyra Pearl MP3 player. He wanted me to put music on it. Simple enough. Two days ago, I was checking the MP3 Player itself and didn't find any sign of what size that MP3 Player was so I plugged it on my Win7 PC.

Upon inserting, my anti-virus NOD32 v4 detected a trojan (that runs on autorun)!! The MP3 player was NEW! It was gaming related according to the name given by NOD32. After that, I formated the drive to avoid further infection.

I mean, wow, really, they are really desperate for money now to put viruses on MP3 Players... I know that it's not the first time this happen. I remember reading about that in the past.

Hello. I think it's best for your computer, to treat that infection. Just follow the steps on http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.html (Preparation Guide For Use Before Using Malware Removal Tools and Requesting Help). When post your DDS Log (+Gmer log): Do not post it at this topic or this forum but on http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum22.htmlBe patient, it's very busy at this forum. A professional expert will view your logs and will help you with that problem. Do not use tools (like ComboFix) without professional experience/helper.Good luck.

Hi there

AVG free anti-virus found 608 threats today on my laptop which it healed and moved to the virus vault, although a large number of the files I suspect are needed on my operating system.

now if I do a scan on AVG it find nothing however the Resident Shield is popping up detection alerts approximately every 60 seconds! This is not only annoying, but I am guessing isn't normal!

It is the same virus/infection/trojan horse names of the 608 threats AVG found earlier today. Either

- "Virus identified as Win32/Zbot.B"
- "Trojan horse SHeur3.AQRA"

What can I do to ensure that these are gone for good?

Thanks, Laura.

A:AVG found 608 viruses today!! Persistant AVG Resident Shield detection

Resident Shield still popping up "blocked threats" today every few minutes or so.It is the same 2 infection names mentioned above, and it appears to be the same 2 files that are attacked - thinking I should delete these files but unsure. Please help.I can insert screenshots but unsure how to copy and paste these?I am Windows XP.I have looked up the virus it seems to be - Win32/ZBot and found info at http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/T...Name=Win32/ZbotThis states that when executed it copies itself to a system folder, with Windows XP this tends to be C:\Windows\System32. This is true to my situation too.

My system restores wont work, wont even undo, and theres only one days worth there now. I dont know how to do a utilities reg scan which I think may be what I need to do, I dont know if its in my pc or on my XP disk. I cant use the disk because I dont know how to find my product code and the person I bought it off has gone to Cyprus .

I've done a Drwebcureit but really I need instructions for a 2 year old and I think this has happened since my last one. I had a Win32 Trojan in the other day and Vundo got rid of it I think, maybe its got something to do with that, maybe its still lurking around. Ive done a Combofix amd this was at the top - WARNING -THIS MACHINE DOES NOT HAVE THE RECOVERY CONSOLE INSTALLED. If anyone can help me, you would save my life, its driving me mad now.

This is a really stupid problem. My Acer Netbook with XP worked fine on my wireless network at home this morning. I unplugged it, folded it shut and put it in my bag to bring to work with me (I did not shut it down, never do, has always connected right away). At work, it says it's connected but has little or no connectivity because it can't get an IP address. I've done the refresh/renew, stack resets, nothing works. I got it to connect normally once, (no idea what I did) but couldn't get to the internet, so rebooted and then it won't connect at all again. I will know whether this is a hardware failure or not when I get home and try to connect, but does this sound like a router problem, or something internal? Thanks for any help.

Alright so here's my problem... I have dual booted my xp machine with windows 7. Also here lately I've been doing a lot of logo contests (i'm a graphic designer and I do contests on crowdspring.com). Well Photoshop is on my XP hard drive (i put xp on one hard drive and 7 on another) and today when I went to turn on my machine, my computer posted, went through the loading screen, then got to the "windows is starting..." screen and just froze there... it wouldn't go any farther. I tried restoring back one day and it didn't work, so I tried restoring back a full month and it still didn't work.

I have kaspersky antivirus and i keep it updated and it was running plus I tried restoring so I know it's not a virus...

Oh and I forgot to mention, it will boot into safe mode... just not regular...

any ideas? Windows 7 still works fine... that's what i'm using now to post (luckily I finally got my air card to work, i guess my original installation of either program didn't work because I completely uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it worked), so i can get online, it's just i can't use photoshop, which is my main concern....

so any suggestions would be fantastic...

A:Dual booted 7 and xp a week ago... as of today xp won't work

Due to corona virus my wife started working from our home office last week. She used our personal PC to connect to her work through Citrix with a few hiccups but eventually no problem. Our PC connects to internet via wifi due to distance from router.
This week she was unable to connect. Her IT department couldn't resolve it and said it can't connect because it is not cabled?????
So my wife had to go to work, collect her computer and bring it home. We now have our outdoor garden table in the living room as a makeshift office so she can plug her work computer into the router. Two kids and husband confined at home too!

Apart from buying a 10m network cable is there a fix to get connected via wifi?

Hello ElliottGenocide

Firstly do you have a system restore point available from before these problems occurred - System Restore
Can you remember what it was you changed in the registry.
Have a look through this,it has a copy of the default background and an application to change the logon background without having to touch the registry - Log On Screen - Change
I would also run this - SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker see if that helps.

I'm in a real mess since Lavasoft AdAware crashed my windows 7 home premium edit. 64bit after its 1st initial mandatory reboot. Everything is frozen, nothing can be clicked on or done in any way, shape or form. Even 'Esc' and 'Ctrl-Alt-Del wont work. PC must be shutdown manually. It also wont uninstall in safe mode. Once in safe mode the 1st time I got windows telling me that it cant uninstall this software in safe mode (this was done by its own uninstaller, and by the windows one, and by the Revo Pro uninstaller.) the 2nd time (reboot) it told me it wasnt installed properly. the 3d time it can't install in safe mode again. What now please? Anyone have an idea?

Thank you

A:Lavasoft AdAware crashed win7-Ctrl-alt-del wont work & it wont uninstall in safe mode

Sorry solved it. I'll write the answer should anyone need it someday. I believe my solution can help for other similar cases besides Ad-Aware.
A minute after I posted this a thought came to mind: Go into safe Mode and use msconfig.exe. So I ran it and unchecked everything to do with Ad-Aware. TO be even more sure I checked off not to run also other things that I knew would not be needed like anything to do with Apple, or Adobe. Afterwhich, doing a proper reboot Windows did actually start normally--no crash and I was able to uninstall it. Slowly I put back other services and start-up items and all is working fine now--so far at least ;-) Thanks for those who took a look and I hope it will help some people in the future.

The last two weeks I have had problems with my work computer. I basically can not open most web sites, or they will opwn painfully slow.
I also can not use any web serch engines, like google or yahoo. They all eventually time out when performing a search.

We use Trend Micro as our anti virus software, and I know most here in the office all have the same worm called: worm_downad.ad
Trend Micro is currently putting the infected files in quarantine. I'm the only one with the above problem though.

I do use Advanced Windows Care to keep my computer running clean.

Two weeks ago, when I first had this problem, I got a new IP address from our IT administrator, and my computer worked fine for a few days, before turning to its old ways.

Not sure if this is malware, a network problem or what. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A:Search engines wont work/web pages wont open

It seems that no browser will work. I've tried IE8, Safari and Chrome.
It often loads the banners on a website, but the rest (the main part) loads really really slowly.

Could it be something to do with active x or java script having difficulty loading?

Might be a failing Hard drive. Get to your bios and see if there is any diagnostics there to do a hard drive test. On some motherboards its delete on others its F2. If there is no diagnostics on the bios i would make a USB bootable diagnostics and do that.
I just had the same problems and found out the hard way that it was a hard drive.

Ive looked everywhere online and the only fix to the disc drive problem is to boot windows and fix it from there (unless i buy a new one and i have no idea how to put a new one in in the first place) and the only way i have found to fix windows is with the disc! Please help me

Edit: i know this is only partially a windows 10 issue but i didnt know where to post it

Hi first time poster

Full specs: MSI Z68a-GD80 i5 2500k Gtx680 Asus Hitachi Deskstar 1tb (boot) KingstonSSD120gb (games)

So last night I shrunk my HDD partition by 100gb, intending to dual boot W8. Never got round to installing it, but when I turned on my PC tjis morning it won't boot. It shows the manufacturer logo then goes to a black.screen with a blinking underscore

I decided to try putting in my W7 disk in to repair, but it starts loading windows filesthen givesme an error about not bring able to communicate with a device.0xc0000009 I think. I thought my HDD might be the issue, but it does it also when my HDD is unplugged and just my SSDpluggedin

Worried my PC is bricked at this point cause I can't boot or repair from disk. Advice appreciated!

A:Need Help. W7 wont boot after resizing partition. Recovery wont work.

Try a linux boot disc and see if you can change the partition size a tiny bit with that. Gparted is your best bet:

GParted -- Download

If you can, that may fix the error.

All of a sudden, I turn on my lap top (lenovo idea pad flex 10) and it takes forever to Load, then says windows 8 wont boot or something.
Takes me to a blue screen and I tries to system restore but that also won't load and go through. Help please?
I went to advanced options and pulled up the box you type **** in butI don't know what to put km it to make windows boot!

A:windows 8 wont boot and system restore wont work

You need to be much more specific about what your problem is. I can't tell at all from your post what's really happening, and neither will anybody else. What exactly happens? What exact messages do you get? What "advanced options" are you talking about? Also, it appears this site's profanity filter has blocked something in your post. Using such language is not helpful.

Try this fix: EXEFIX

Unzip the fix and extract the .reg file to the desktop. Double-click it to merge it to the registry. Note that you need to be an Administrator to apply this fix.

Reboot the computer.

If the fix only opens as a text file, right-click it and select Open With > Choose Program... Then, select the Registry Editor.

If the Registry Editor is not in the list, browse to C:\WINDOWS and select regedit.

Ok so I got Trend Micro internet security pro. I've been having pop-ups of adds, ghost sounds without pop-ups, and web pop-ups. I can scan and always get viruses from cookies but it never finds anything else. I scan and scan but never get different results. Sometimes it finds 14 viruses and only gets rid of 10. The only way for me to do anything without slow performance or play games without lag i have to unplug my internet.

My computer runs insanely slow and I can figure out how to fix it. I really need help!

I have a number of viruses and probably more that I dont even now about. At first I had a virus that would run a program to get me to buy a virus software. I downloaded spybot and everything ran great for about 2 months. Recently, within the past 1 month, I have had a virus on every boot up. First, I downloaded combo fix and followed the instructions on this website in a forum post and it worked ok for a few days. Today I logged onto my computer and had a new virus posted up. One of them is iSecurity and another is Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (assuming a fake one). I downloaded Malware Bytes and ran it in safe mode and it detected 7 viruses and i deleted them all. I logged back into normal mode and Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool popped back up and instantly my computer went into blue screen and cut off. Can anyone help me with this. I am currently in safe mode with networking and it is running fine.

I have several user (my kids) accounts on a computer running Win7 HP/64bit, patched, up-to-date, SP1, hidden files/extension visable... MSE updates/scans everyday.. Malwarebytes loaded, scan each week too... Full scans for both running right now in fact.. nothing found and they're almost done..

Action Center says Defender is off, will not load/turn on when clicked. When I click to turn it on, I'm taken to windows\sys32 folder and a list of folders.. to do what, I dont know, havent seen this happen before.. The other user accts seem to start up fine.. my acct too.. just this one, Defender wont start.. When the windows\sys32 folder opens, what am I supposed to do/click/look for? I dont see a Defender folder.. again, this is W7HP(64bit) , Win Firewall is on..

Thanks, TJ

A:Defender wont start.. NO VIRUSES

Hello TJ,

Since you have MSE installed, it automatically turns off and takes the place of Windows Defender as the default program during it's installation. If you are still getting a message in Action Center for this, then you can just turn it off.

Hope this helps,

I purchased a computer at a garage sale a couple of weeks a ago for a couple of bucks. the older couple said it was dead, but I liked the case and was planning on moving my internet computer into that case. it was a micron millenia max gs 800 and the only thing wrong was the video card was dead. I put in an old video card, cleaned up the windows os and the computer ticks like a new watch. according to the micron website, the motherboard is a tazer 2, tyran s1854 http://support.mpccorp.com/apps/specs.asp?ID=3176 the total pc133 memory is 768mb. my current internet computer (pIII 500) is limited to 384mb of memory so I'm thinking about buying 3 sticks of pc133 256 memory for this micron (it has 2 sticks of 64 mb for only a total of 128). the micron website and several other memory websites say that this computer will use pc133, cl-3, unbuffered, non-parity, 168 pin, 3.3 volt sdram dimm.http://www.crucial.com/store/MPartspecs.Asp?mtbpoid=3A9D9256A5CA7304&WSMD=Millennia+MAX+GS+800&WSPN=CT178220 since pc133 is so expensive new, I want to try and find some used memory, but comparing all the pc133 (on ebay for instance) and trying to figure out which will work is ridiculous. my question, will most pc133 cl-3 unbuffered 256 mb work in this computer? what are the important specs, what should I look for in the specs so that I get the right memory so it will boot? thx

A:I need some help trying to figure out which pc133 memory will work and wont work

Anything on this page would work actually. And the prices are not too bad.

Buying ram off ebay is not usually a good idea, if you do make sure you have a very liberal return policy wth it. and buy only from a reputable company. Buying from an individual is not a good idea for computer components at ebay.

I have a field for data a appoinment is for in an access table and i need to apply validation to allow entry of todays dat or anydate after today.
I have tryed stuff like ">=Now()" or ">Now() and =Now()" but nothing works please help
also can anybody help with my other problem about No changes to certain field in a table or form

A:Solved: Access Date Today or after today

If this is the same field as the first post then you will be stuck with the default value of Now() or Date().
If it is a different field then in the validation property use >=Date().
Date() is used when you do not need to store the "Time" as well as the date, Now() stores the Date and the Time.

hi i am no expert and if there are any experts out there feel free to add in

i downloaded a virus one day and it locked up my take maniger so i couldn't close any prosses the problem is fixed now and the virus gone but from this run in i found 2 things out

some viruses have 1 file which controls the underlings normaly a running exe if you get rid of the main file it may look like the virus is gone but dont be fooled some viruses have 2 main files 1 to control the underlings and another to download new viruses ( and some times to bring back the other main virus ) so if you have been recently infected and you think you have fixed it but every once and a while avg (or other virus scanners) continue to find virus check task maniger or process explorer for weird exe

are there other kinds of virus you know about if so please say something even if your not an expert guesses are ok

I am experiencing quite a few problems so i will list then and then copy my log

1. when i am on my pc now and again i get a grey alert box pop up, it says server is busy cannot complete the task or somethin gin that wording, i get two options, switch to or retry. Cancel is greyed. This mainly happens when i start to play a game on steam and ends up minimizing my game and freezing my computer.

2. I decided a virus check would be a good idea, so i downloaded the free version of AVG, i done a full scan and it lists all the viruses, it then told me to restart my computer to heal my computer. Once i done that it lists all the viruses in the virus vault, but the cure button is reyed i only have delete and such? I tried another virus program but it done the same and wouldnt fix them.
