Can't hear audio and there is a constant buzzing sound from ...

Q: Can't hear audio and there is a constant buzzing sound from ...

I recently bought the HP Pavilion 15ab570TX, I've had it for only a few days before this problem arised. I was watching a series on the laptop when suddenly the sound went away, and a buzzing sound from the laptop (could be fan or from audio itself) replaced it. Now, whenever I turn on the laptop, a loud buzzing sound appears. I went on youtube to check the audio status but I couldn't hear anything eventhough the speakers icon says the speakers are okay and the sound is well above 66. What is the problem? I don't understand how it can be dust issues because I've kept the laptop clean and covered most of the time. It's been approximately three days since I received the laptop.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone, I have this problem with background noise being emitted whenever I have my headphones plugged in this notebook. I hear an irregular buzzing/humming eletronic sound. I tried multiple different headphones and the buzzing sound still persists. Note that I hear this buzzing sound even when there's no actual audio playing from my notebook into my headphones. It gets very distracting at times and I was wondering if this was normal.  Even if this was ''normal'' I feel like this shouldn't be happening to a 1200? laptop. The buzzing sound gets worse when I change the battery mode from ''energy saving'' to ''high performance''. It also gets worse when I plug the charger into my notebook. I have experienced this buzzing sound from the start I began using this notebook. I don't know how to fix this or if I need to send it for reparation. Some advice would be greatly apreciated! Kind regards, Carl

Hey, yesterday I went from windows 7 to windows 8, everytime I close a game or a program with sound, this buzzing noise comes, and it wont stop until I restart my PC. Might be worth mentioning that the drivers are beta drivers, but they have been since 2012, so the shouldnt be a problem. And yes I have tried reinstalling the drivers.

Hopefully someone has a solution, thanks.

Starting about a week ago whenever any audio is being played through my computer (speaker or headphone) I will hear a buzzing sound and occasionally the audio with skip. This happens weather I am playing audio that is being streamed from the internet or that is on my computer directly.

I have tried several things to fix this problem including installing all windows updates that are available as well as updating my audio drivers.

I am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. My computer model is hp pavilion dv7t quad 6100 and I have IDT high definition audio codec driver version 6.10.6381.0 which my computer says is the latest driver version. Updating to this version has not solved the problem, however.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. If there is additional info that is neccesary, please let me know and I will post it.

A:IDT High Def Audio, buzzing sound when playing any sort of audio.

Unplug the speakers from the PC and see if you still get the buzz with headphones. Some "buzz" problems can be related to "AC power ground loop" problems if some separately powered devices are connected.

Noise and skipping are problems that have been posted here before. There is no "one fix" for that. There are possible hardware problems, drivers (including video drivers), Interrupt issues, Wi Fi caused, etc.

Skipping can be because the other device that is on the shared Interrupt that the sound is on is interrupting the sound. Sound is always on a shared interrupt (IRQ) with a higher priority device. You can try this: go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the IDT and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT check the box to uninstall the drivers. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect the sound and reinstall it and some times put it on a different shared IRQ.

A:Could not hear sound(Audio) from PC

Do you have your motherboard disc with all the drivers on? If so, Reinstall the chipset driver...reboot and then reinstall the audio driver.

If you need help with this, please post back your pc specs with the following program

I need the mainboard/chipset details that are found on the 1st page as it opens under "system summary"

So I just updated my Toshiba laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and now I'm having audio problems. At first after I upgraded I had no sound. I fixed it by uninstalling and reinstalling my Realtek audio driver. Now thankfully I got my sound back, but now whenever I play audio the sound isn't clear anymore Especially when I use YouTube. I updated my Realtek audio driver from version to and I still hear the buzzing! I tried audio troubleshooting and it said the problem couldn't be identified. What do I do?

A:Continuous audio buzzing but with sound!

Hi there and welcome to the forum

Have you checked and confirmed you are using the correct audio playback device in your audio properties?

Have you got the speakers (and other settings) configured correctly in audio playback device?

Have you also checked to confirm whether running the driver in combination with Toshiba Audio Enhancement stops the speakers buzzing?

Have you tried an earlier driver version? For instance for example.

I hear a buzzing sound from my audio speakers, and this post actually explains it nearly perfectly.

Hey guys. So I finally got finished with my Cosmos Mod (which I hope to have up and posted on the forums soon ) but I'm having some trouble with buzzing and crackling with the headphones plugged into the front jack.

My Cosmos case comes equipped with the HD Azalia front audio connector in addition to the AC '97 audio connector. When completing my wire management and sleeving, I decided to remove the AC '97 connector since I only needed the HD Azalia connector, which is attached to my Creative X-Fi Extreme Gamer sound card. So I simply cut the AC '97 connector off. I did not cap each of the exposed remaining wires as they were very small in diameter and I figured I would just sleeve over it and try it.

Problem: When I plug any of my three pairs of different headphones to the front panel I have buzzing and crackling whether games or programs are making sound or not. I especially have crackling when I move my Razer Death Adder around, which seems really weird. I've got the Death Adder plugged directly into my Logitech G15. By the way, I've also got my wireless Logitech mouse plugged in and when I move that one around, there is no ill effect on the sound. ??

When I've got the headphones plugged in directly to the sound card at the back of the computer, I've got perfect silence. No interference at all with each pair o... Read more

First of all, the problem occurred after upgrading to Win10. What I noticed first was that strange looking audio driver(FIRST PICTURE BELOW). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver but it only dissapeared and appeared looking the same. Another thing I have noticed was that I don't see the Beats audio icon to adjust some settings. I did installed it and maybe I heard a slight difference. But the sound was low. I tried solutions I could find here(HP forums) that were related to my problem. But none of them fixed my problem, only installed the Beats audio drivers(which is good). After opening device manager I saw this(I opened it after all the installations I made)The properties of High Definition Augio Device It would be great if someone of the experts here could help me out. Or maybe some customers have encountered similar problem and fixed it.

A:Cannot hear sound from the main speaker(Beats audio)

Hi: The High Definition Audio device is the Intel HDMI audio device that needs a driver installed.  It has nothing to do with the Beats Audio not working. Here's what I recommend you do to install the Intel HD audio device with the ! mark. Download and install this free file utility.  The 2nd file on the top of the page is for 64 bit. http://www.7-zip.org/ After you install 7-Zip, download and save, but do not run the Intel graphics driver on your notebook's support page. This package provides the driver that enables the Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72370.exe Right click on the sp72370 driver file you saved. Select 7-Zip from the list of items on the menu. Have 7-Zip Extract to:  and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp72370). Once 7-Zip has created the driver folder, go to the device manager and click on the problem HD audio device. Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder 7-zip created.  Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.  Then restart the PC. The only suggestion I can... First post, hope I'm doing this right.Hi guys, about 3 weeks ago I purchased a Lenovo ideapad 110. It's a great laptop, however, about a couple weeks ago, the laptop started making a loud grinding/buzzing sound when playing audio. The sound only lasts for second, but it's quite jarring, to the point where I have to take out my earphones and take a break from what ever I was watching/listening to. It also happens without earphones, so those aren't the problem. YouTube is when it mainly occurs, however other sites with audio have it too. I've tried playing with the audio settings and updating the drivers, it worked for a few days, but the sound has returned. My previous laptop, a hp did this too, but never this frequently, so what exactly is this? I'm not very tech-savvy, so I have no idea. Here are the spec if it helps.15.6-inch (1366 x 768 pixels) TN displayIntel Pentium N3710 Processor (1.60GHz 1600MHz 2MB) with Intel HD Graphics4GB RAM (up to 8GB), 1TB HDDWindows 10 HomeBuilt-in DVD Recordable DriveStereo Speakers with Dolby Audio, 3.5 mm Combo Audio JackUSB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI, RJ45 Ethernet and 4-in-1 Card Reader (SD, SDHC, SDXC, MMC)Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 acDimensions: 378 x 265 x 22.9; Weight: 2.2 kg24WH batteryThanks.

My PC Power and Cooling Silencer 500 gives off an annoying buzzing sound almost like a very light weight hard drive working really hard... but its definitely coming from the power supply. It's also not coming from the power supply's fan cause I managed to stop the fan and still hear the buzzing.

sometimes the buzzing stops during the time it takes to maximize or minimize a window in Windows xp.

before I send it back for repair or replacement I wanted to know if this is just how this power supply is in general... so I can avoid the downtime of not having a running computer.

anyone experience this buzzing?

I have Silverstone Strider 850W PSU, and i noticed buzzing noise from it. That buzzing noise is constant, even i shutdown my computer.
Any help? Fix?

A:PSU- Constant buzzing noise

Power supplies are still "live" and are putting out some voltages even when the PC is powered off.

Several possibilities, the first being the power supply is loose in the mounting. The second something internal to the power supply loose, a transformer vibrating and finally the power supply "vibration" is causing something else in the PC case to buzz.

My Pavilion doesn't stop buzzing while I'm using it and it's getting annoying. I had to return my last one because the fan was broken and it was buzzing, squealing and overheating and then I got a new one (after being messed around at PC World). I assumed it was just the one I had but I've just recieved my new one and, whilst is isn't as hot and doesn't squeal, there's a general buzzing and hissing/whirring the whole time I'm using it. I've tried playing audio and there is no change so I'm assuming it's not the speakers (I've seen that that's a problem many people have) so I guess it's the fan again. How can I resolve this because it is really getting on my nerves and I'm on the verge of returning it again and steering clear of hp products?

Hey everybody,

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but i've recently purchased a box set of DVD's but when i play them through my laptop i can't hear anything.
They are legitimate DVD's - not pirated copies.
All of my other DVD's work just fine ... its just this 4 disc box set, and then had the same problem with a DVD i borrowed from a friend.
The region on the discs are correct, as is the region setting for the player on my laptop.
The bizarre thing is ... when i play the disc, .. i can hear the sound during the opening logo, ya know the one for the production/distribution compnay ??
Its when i get ot the menu, or play the movies themselves, ... there's no audio.

Its really annoying me that this has occurred so randomly.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Just built a new computer, and everything went smooth except that a small but sometimes very noticeable buzzing comes out my headphones. I cant really explain it other than its a high pitched buzz, that changes frequency depending on whats on my screen. On the desktop, or web browser its very fast, while when I go into a game it slows down but becomes louder. And when something is loading, as in when i bring up firefox, it pauses for a second, then continues buzzing, or when loading a game, at the loading screen it is completely quiet, then when I am in game, it continues. Another wierd thing is, if I am scrolling through a long webpage or text file really fast, the buzz will vary depending on how fast Im scrolling.
I actually had to take my sub woofer out because i t was amplifying the buzz probably almost 20-fold, so I'm going straight from headphones to the computer.
Also, changing the sound volume on the computer does not change the buzz.

Now, as far as I know, i have the latest sound drivers, I went to my motherboards website, and downloaded the audio driver for the gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L. Other than that I dont know what else it could be.
Here's a dxdiag, if that helps.

It was working and then I hit something in the realtek HD audio manager by accident and it stopped working, I can't figure out how to fix it.

A:Can't hear sound through headphones, but it says sound is playing?

Not knowing what you did, all we can do is guess and try to help you.

Not sure if System Restore (back to an available restore date that is before whatever you did) will help or not, but one option to try.

Uninstalling/reinstalling the RealTek will probably do it. Actually just installing the latest RealTek will first uninstall the existing, have you restart the PC (Important step do not bypass this) and then will do a new install.

Download the latest High Defintion Codec from RealTek. Realtek

When I'm loading Civ 5, Sims 3 and Sims 2, I can hear loud buzzing/screeching form inside my case. It only occurs when first loading the games, not like when I'm actually in a household in Sims or moving units in Civ, and stops if I bring up another window when they're loading. As soon as a switch back to their window, though, the sounds start again. I'm well above required and recommended specs for the games that cause the buzzing, and I had the same problem on my old computer, which was also above recommended specs. Is my onboard sound trying to play some of the game's audio? Or is it just some weird error I have to deal with?

A:Audio buzzing during certain games

Check to see if your hard drive is mounted securely. Your hard drive will be under increased load when first loading games.

For the past few days, my computer has been saying "Congratulations, you won" at random intervals, and, less frequently, I will hear instrumental music that reminds me of the soundtrack to movie previews. I believe the computer became infected through Google Chrome. When it initially happened, I had several iexplore.exe processes running, even though Internet Explorer had not been running. Subsequently, I have not seen any errant iexplore.exe processes. I downloaded and installed Spybot S&D, ran a full scan and it came back with nothing. I also downloaded and ran Malware Byte's Anti-Malware and did a full scan. It found a couple cookies, which I deleted. While the scan was running, McAfee Anti-Virus found a virus file that it cleaned by deletion.

I am running Windows Vista Service Pack 2. I appreciate any help that anyone can provide with cleaning my computer.

Thank you very much.

It's possible that you have an infected Master Boot Record (MBR) so lets check it to be sure. Please download MBRCheck.exe by a_d_13 from one of the links provided below and save it to your desktop.Link 1Link 2Link 3Double-click on MBRCheck.exe to run it. Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator). It will open a black window...please do not fix anything (if it gives you an option). When complete, you should see Done! Press ENTER to exit.... Press Enter on the keyboard.A log named MBRCheck_date_time.txt (i.e. MBRCheck_07.21.10_10.22.51.txt) will appear on the desktop. Please copy and paste the contents of that log in your next reply.

My Plantronics RIG headset has been working fine since I bought it. However, yesterday when I left my laptop (HP - Pavilion) and returned to use it I couldn't hear any sound coming from the headset. I plugged in my other headset to see if my RIG was broken, but I couldn't hear any audio from this one as well. Since my headset is a RIG, I plugged in my iphone and I could hear my music playing. I feel like my headsets are working but there is an issue else where.

I have already checked the 'sound' options if the wrong device was set as default. I have the proper options set up in the 'Sound' options and everything is plugged in fine. I have tried the other USB ports, but no luck. The speakers on my laptop work fine. While I in 'Device Manager' I could hear the 'Beeping' sound play through my headset. Restarted my laptop, shut it down, updated my HP - Pavilion drivers. The microphone works fine as well.

Also just to point out in my 'Sound' options that the 'AMD High Definition Audio Device' is NOT PLUGGED IN.

Thank you very much in advance for any help, P4nnywise.
Also, sorry if this thread is in the wrong section.

i got this avi file sent to my mail but when i open it i can't hear the audio, tried opening it with a bunch of programs but had no luck. can someone help me please??

A:can't hear the audio on an avi file

Have you tried opening with VLC? It could be that you don't have the right codec, but VLC doesn't need codecs so it could be what you're looking for.

That's the direct link to the installer file for vlc. Run and install it, and try to open the avi again. Once you try that, respond and I'll help you some more.
