I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Lenovo G580 Windows 10 ACPI Driver not installing?

hi acemod13,

I looked at the Lenovo Energy Management driver for Windows 10 and upon observing the installer behavior, it extract the ACPI driver files (58KB) to C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\ACPIDriver (this may explain why the installer closes right after extracting).

If you're seing an Unknown Device in the Device Manager with an ACPI hardware ID (see image below) then try to update the driver manually and point it to the C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\ACPIDriver folder
- Sample image

If you're unable to see the driver files, I've uploaded them here.

Let me know how it goes.

I download the :Advanced Configuration and Power Management Interface (ACPI) Driver, from the Lenovo website: The link for the driver ( for Lenovo y700-15ISK) :

I download, give permission to run, then nothing happens; no installation wizard, nothing. This is the only driver I haven't been able to update, and it is the one that is causing me serious problems with audio latency, as Latencymon v 6.50 tells me. I get crackling sound from speakers, but when I disable the ACPI driver, the crackling goes away. The problem is that if I disable the ACPI driver, I am no longer able to see my battery status. So it is important that I update this driver. However, I don't know how it is possible that the driver provided by Lenovo does absolutely nothing at all.

A:Lenovo y700 ACPI Driver, not installing

The fix for this is to go to safe mode (on windows 10) : Settings-> Update & Security-> Recovery : press restart now -> After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options >Startup Settings > Restart-> After your PC restarts, you'll see a list of options. Select 4 or F4 to start your PC in Safe Mode. then in safe mode go to device manager ->System devices  right click on Lenovo ACPI-Compliant Virtual Power Controller  -> Uninstall  Double click on the ACPI Driver you downloaded. this should fix the problem.

Hello, The Problem:Recently I installed Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS  to my HDD in UEFI mode. Soon I found out that I could not access the BIOS using F2, but F12 allowed selection of boot device. Reinstalling Windows, I found out that the boot menu still had the Ubuntu entry and I still could not access the BIOS. I searched on the web for a solution and before I could manage to find a proper one, I managed to delete both the ubuntu and windows boot manager boot entries, still locked out of bios. This time I could not boot into any OS, could not access bios using f2 nor access boot menu using f12.  The Solution:There was one last hope, during boot I noticed that PXE (Boot via ethernet option was still showing).Note: This solution requires you to update the BIOS. This is a very risky procedure, so proceed with caution. This will also probably void your warranty. If you can access boot menu (F12) and want to regain access to the BIOS (F2), boot into Windows 7. Install a bios update for your laptop (specifically for your laptop) available at The Lenovo Support Site. The oldest BIOS (probably for Windows 7) is preffered. If you donot have access to windows 7, perform step 2 and boot into the created ISO by creating a bootable CD or pendrive. Then goto step 11.If you can't access F12 and F2, cannot boot into OS, but can boot via Ethernet (there should be a message about trying Atheros Ethernet PXE Boot during startup), start from step 1. Perform the following steps on a s... Read more

Update: Even in the newest BIOS Update 62cn97ww (for Lenovo G580), Ubuntu causes the same problem. I came across a solution on the internet, that works without having to update the BIOS if Ubuntu can be accessed. To fix it, boot into Ubuntu (should be installed on the system), start Terminal and type in the following commands:sudo grub-install
sudo efibootmgr -b 0 -BReboot and F2 should work. BIOS should be accessible through F12>Tab>Setup also. Ubuntu will boot no more but can probably be fixed.

My entire hard drive was wiped out from a bug from Windows 8.1, where it goes through an infinite loop of trying to repair.  I tried at first booting off of a cd/usb stick, but it would ignore them being inserted.  I tried accessing the boot menu, but there was no way I could.  For 2 years, I gave up on it until just this week.  I got a 1 TB laptop hard drive for christmas and I was planning on installing linux on there for the time being until I buy Windows 10.  So, I made a separate partition where it has all of the install files from the Live-CD for Ubuntu, and 3 other partitions: a swap partition, a partition for the root directory, and a partition for /home.  I made it so that it would boot off the install partition, then install to the three other partitions.  However, this has not worked; it does not boot anything.  I have no other options; I cannot use the hard drive with windows 8 installed because it is VERY MUCH corrupted and goes in a loop, and I have tried to make it so that it would boot immediately from the hard drive.  I am wondering if I am missing something, because I think some of the bios is stored on the windows 8 hard drive.  When I put that hard drive in the laptop, it has a nice Lenovo logo, but when I use the other one there is no logo.  I am very much confused and helpless in this situation.  Is there anything I can do?

Try enabling the MS driver you disabled. You shouldn't turn it off. You are likely running non ACPI mode and getting it back may be a problem now. If you have a restore point from before it was disabled it would be you best approach and then try to update that with the Lenovo driver.

hi,
i have an ibm thinkpad a21m that was put together (mobo, hd, ram, cd, floppy, etc.). installed xp. worked fine. it had "unknown device" on device manager. i used msinfo32 to identify that it needed acpi (advanced configuration power interface). i installed it. the unknown device error went away. when i restarted the system, it keeps going into hybernation after 2-3 minutes. i unplugged cmos and main battery. reset hybernation option to never, reset all the bios to default. still goes into hybernation. my question is: would it go into hybernation if the cpu gets hot? or is there another problem that i'm overlooking?
thanks.

A:Ibm laptop going into hybernation after installing acpi driver

Most likely an overheating issue. Someone answered your post on another forum with good info so I won't retype it: http://tinyurl.com/3y3pg5
Also look at the bios settings to disable anything related to Hibernation.

Hi all, I just pruchased a Lenovo G580 as a replacement for my mom's old PC. She's 77 years old and does not wnat to learn a new OS (quite understable). So I got the G580 with FreeDOS only and wanted to install Windows XP on it. First tryI used my installation CD (Windows XP Pro  SP2 32 Bit). The installer started to examine the hardware but the very moment it says "starting up Windows" I'll get the Blue Screen of Death... Second tryI did a clean install of XP on a desktop PC, installed SP3 and all updates, plus the Lenovo drivers from this homepage for Chipset, video card, etc. etc. Then I tried to clone the whole thing with Clonezilla. Guess what? - Didn't work either (I guess because the installed Lenovo drivers weren't activated)... So - what is needed to get it going? What Windows XP version is necessary for the G580? Thanks.

Hi reformy,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

To install a new Windows image, you can follow this guide to download and install Windows using Media Creation tool.
Automatic activation should happen after you complete installation by skipping the activation on the time of install.

The OEM product key is embedded in the systemboard and should be identified by Microsoft activation center as Windows key tied to your system.

Update us how it goes.

Hello. I have a Lenovo G580 Notebook with Windows 10 installed. The issue is that the Windows hotkeys, that is Windows key and other letter combinations, aren't working. For example, normally, if I press Windows key + I, then the Settings app should open up or if I press Windows key + R, then Run should open up. But the Start screen opens up instead in all such cases.

This is happening since I have updated the Synaptics touchpad driver via Windows Update. If I uninstall the driver, then the hotkeys start working again. But as soon as I install the driver, they stop working. This was not happening with Windows 10 before, even when the Synaptics driver was installed. It has suddenly started happening couple of months ago. Also I cannot completely uninstall the Synaptics driver because my laptop came with it itself nor can I stop the driver from updating as it is an important driver and it needs to be updated to be compatible with Windows 10.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

A:Windows hotkeys not working on Lenovo G580 Notebook (Windows 10).

If you PM me your email address I will send you a link to the Synaptics driver that works for me. Then you will have to use the HideUpdate hotfix to keep Windows update from changing it.

A:Lenovo G580 Bletooth not listed in Device Manager after Windows 10 Upgrade

Dear nedret,

Welcome in lenovo community,

Based on official list of Lenovo systems supported for Windows 10, the G580 is not listed which means most things may work, but we may not have drivers and support for all features and will be limited in our ability to provide Windows 10 support.

In many cases, the Windows 8/8.1 drivers will work.

Also try to Run windows update, sometimes it helps,

Click Start Menu >> Settings >> Update and Security >> Windows Update >> Check for Updates >> Install Updates.

If it does not help, My advice to you, is to go back to the previous windows (Before windows 10 Upgrade) to have all the functions of the laptop working.

Regards,
Joseph

I tried a different hard drive which changed nothing, I've tested both hard drives on a different computer and they both work. However when I boot the laptop with no harddrive it will get past the logo go to a screen saying something about an unplugged cable then reset and get stuck on a blank screen.   If I plug in my windows recovery usb drive( and no harddrive) the the machine will boot normally and go to the windows installation screen. So any ideas on why a working harddrive would stop the system from booting? Also I've tried the whole taking out the battery unplugging it holding down the power key and then plugging it back in thing, did nothing.

A:Problems installing ATK0110 ACPI UTILITY from Windows update

Hi John,
Please download the latest P5B driver from ASUS website.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
If the drivers still not resolve the issue, we could confirm that ATK0110 ACPI UTILITY would not work in Windows 7 beta.  Important Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. Hello: My computer is a Pavilion a850y Pentium 4HT 3.8 MHz, just installed a new sata hard drive and tried to install Windows XP Home Edition. During the start of the install, right after the drivers loaded I got the following Message: A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen restart your computer. If the screen appears again, follow these steps..The Bios in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your vendor or visit http:www,hardware-update.com for an updated BIOS. If you are unable to obtain an updated BIOS or the latest BIOS supplied by your vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during next mode setup. To do this, simply press the F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. The system will not notify you that the F7 key was pressed - it will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue installation.Technical information: ***STOP:0x000000A5 (0x00000011,0x00000004,0x00000000,0x0000000) Well, pressing F7 just stopped the install again at a blue screen with "Windows Setup" on the screen. The only BIOS upgrade found on HP site needs Windows running to install. My BIOS IS:  BIOS Revision 3,10 11/12/04  Core version 08.00.10  Computer Product # PU005AV  S/N MXP450048D  Service ID: PU005AV-PU008AV The only thing that was ever updated on this comput... I've seen that error before when installing XP after a memory upgrade on Pavilion desktop. At the time, I just removed the extra memory and installed XP, then reinstalled the memory.
Odd thing is, I later installed XP again with no problems leaving the extra memory in.

Hi all, I've bought a brand new Yoga 900 ISK2 and realized as with my previous laptops, I cannot use Windows 10. So I've downgraded it to Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit and installed all drivers except the ACPI ones. I've tried installing the Lenovo Energy Managment Driver from the support page but nothing happens and the device is still not recognized. Furthermore, I cannot charge my laptop, it only works while the power supply is connected. I do not want to go back to Windows 10 so please don't tell me I've wasted a big amount of money on a laptop I can't use.  Please help,Dennis

Hi All, I've tried to downgrade my laptop to Windows 7 x64 but have found that there aren't specific Windows 7 drivers for this laptop on the Lenovo Website However, everything works well as most of the drivers are Windows 7 & 10 compatible ... except 1 key one the ACPI driver that is Windows 10 only ... unfortunately this means I can't adjust any power options including the screen brightness ... so i was wondering has nayone else had any luck in installing Windows 7 on one of these or similar laptops ... or can someone point me to a compatible ACPI driver? Thanks, Luke

A:Ideapad 300-17ISK - Windows 7 x64 (ACPI Driver)

I think the "Lenovo PM Device" might be available through windows update, but I'm not sure if it only works on Thinkpads. I have not gone through installing Windows 7 x64 on my Ideapad 300 yet, but I plan to and have considered drivers from the G70 Z710 & Z70, I think there are similarities, but they are different chipsets so Windows Update is probably a better option for ACPI If Windows Update doesn't list under "Optional" it can also be downloaded from the Microsoft Update Catalog http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=lenovo%20pm%20device%20acpi%20windows%207This link probably will only work in Internet Explorer (it requires an ActiveX control). An option is to use the "Windows Mobility Center" to control screen brightness >>Programs>>Accessories>>Windows Mobility Center
