Preferred Solution: Desktop mouse right click popup menu - remove buttons?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

keepplugging, It looks like you may have installed Icon Restore at one time as it puts those 2 items in the desktop right click context menu. Check out the link below which also has a "Uinstall Icon Restore" tool at the bottom of the page which you can download and run. I'd create a new System Restore Point prior to running it.

Context Menu Editor 1.0 is also Free and may get the job done.

Hi, i returned a Dell Studio 16 for another Dell Studio 16 with some lighter configurations. One thing I didn't expect to go missing was the ability to "middle click" and open firefox links in new tabs by pressing both mouse buttons simultaneously.

When i went to Dell's website to update the driver, i was informed via a pop-up that the driver i already have was newer than the one i was trying to update with. so i didnt "update" the driver. The device says "Synaptics TouchPad V7.2 on PS/2 Port" and the Driver Version is 14.0.3.0. I am running Win7 64bit. Thanks.

Hey it's been a while since I've last been here, I really enjoy this Win 7 community hope everyone is doing well.

Anyway let me cut to the chase, basically I want to be able to remove the MagicISO context menu from the right click context menu in Windows 7.

See pics to understand what I'm talking about.

Even after unchecking the "Enable Shell Integration" (see picture 3) option in MagicISO Maker, it still shows up, and when I open the program again the check box is still ticked for that particular option.

I know I never had any issue in Vista or XP, but in this version of Windows it seems unable to work.

I looked on the http://www.magiciso.com website for an update to the program but there doesn't seem to be any at the moment. I've got the latest Build 0281.

Call me a "control/neat/OCD freak" who wants and needs everything in his life to be almost perfect ! LOL but really, I just like my right click context menu to be nice and tidy. I don't use MagicISO that often and when I do I do all my work within the program. Therefore I don't need the MagicISO option to be present.

Anyway I hope my issue is clear, perhaps I would have to modify the registry or something ?

Thanks for all your help I appreciate it !

Jordan

Hello Jordan,

You can use either ShellExView or ShellMenuView to make disabling that context menu item easy.

Hope this helps,

ideally, i would like for any mouseclicks and menu opening commands made within X microseconds of a keystroke to be discarded, with the user setting the value of X.

for the record, i'm working on a laptop (2730p) which has mousebuttons and menu buttons quite close to the typing keys, and i have on occassion overwritten entire paragraphs and somehow even issued a close program command while furiously typing. needless to say, i would like a fix for this.

System specifications would help, especially what type of mouse you've got, but at a guess I'd say there's something not right with your mouse settings.

I recently had some kind of corruption so that I had to restore an image backup using Macrium Reflect. This has been mostly successful but when I right-click on a text file in Windows Explorer and then select a program from the popup menu to edit it nothing happens. I reinstalled the editor I was using but this did not help. I do not have hours to spend on this - should I try an alternative explorer or is there any possibility of a quick fix?

i was facing problem regarding continous popup of right click menu at both office computer). Initially i thougt it was because mouse malfunction because i have paid avg version. But the same thing sarted to happen at home pc as well. I suspected (i am still not sure about it) that was because of virus.
Although i like avg very much, i rely on combofix when problem persist. I scanned both pcs with combofix and now the incidence of popup has lowered by 80%. I don't know whether it was because of virus so i am sharing log file for experts to examine.

I have two problems. I use W7, and detest it, but am stuck for a while.

The right-click menu for Notepad now has "edit" in it. I have to choose that or else something tries to access "privileged resources" through splwow64.exe if I just double-click it. That shouldn't happen. I've used a substitute for Notepad for YEARS, called Notepad+, and it worked on W7 until recently. I can't find any infection on Notepad+, but it behaves as though it had one. Whatever changed the right-click menu was likely a toolbar, Conduit, which I stupidly allowed to install, and still can't get rid of it all. I can't find, on W7 where I can manage things like "open" "edit" etc. for any program on my PC, and associate the program file extension with something else. I had it in 98SE, but not in W7.

Conduit weaseled its way into many areas of my PC, and I had trouble both finding them and getting rid of them. Some I bumped into by pure accident. Most is gone now, but not all. The toolbar itself still comes up when I start Google Chrome, but it is unusable, just there. Chrome also shows a search page called "Connect" by Conduit, by default. I've removed it, in Chrome's settings, but it keeps coming back. So it still has a footprint somewhere in my Google Chrome files.

That same toolbar now gives me a popup every time I boot up. It says:

"RunDLL

Hi. I've got a computer (custom made) with XP installed. I'm posting from an Ubuntu laptop. I've got AVG and adaware, both up to date. I have the latest XP service pack.

My problem is that when I go to turn on my computer, it will boot through the user menu and load into windows with my desktop image showing, but no icons/start menu shows up.

I can do Control/Alt/Delete to bring up the task manager. I've tried typing explorer.exe, but there is just quick flash of something at the bottom of the screen and then nothing.

Does anyone have an idea of what might be wrong with my computer?

All help/suggestions appreciated.

Run regedit and navigate to the key below:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

What are the "3rd party" contect menu handler folders you see in the left pane?

One of these is likely the culprit.

You can use "Shellexview" to disable for testing these entries. These will be identified as "context menu" in the Shellex utility and have pink highlighting. You can right click and disable to test.

This is a totally new one to me... about a week ago, everytime I went to right-mouse click, the context menu would take a while to drop down. As of yesterday, it stopped working completely. There seems to be next to noting on this subject on the web so I came here to see if anyone has a possible solution.

The left mouse click work fine, no lag, the batteries are fully charged, the mouse works fine on another systems I have.

It is a MS Intellimouse Explorer for Bluetooth. I state this because a also have a Logitech Trackman Marble+ plugged in that does the job for me temporarily and the right mouse works fine on that one. So I suspect it could be a Bluetooth problem.

FYI, I also started having the Generic Host Server need to close and svchost.exe problems as well about a week ago. They are possibly all related to each other

Any ideas?

Having a bit of a nightmare with my laptop!

Suddenly the right click dialogue box keeps popping up as if I am doing it. Have deduced that it's not the mouse as
1. When trackpad is disabled and no mouse connected the problem still occurs
2. The dialogue box always appears in the top left hand corner of the desktop or window open, regardless of where the cursor is.

Me and my partner ran some of the windows 7 fix it things and also ran virus scans etc and after a lot of random fixes it stopped for about a week. However it's started up again and we have no clue what we did first time round to get it to stop or why it's started again so thought we should try and find out the root cause.

No luck with the good old google search as most solutions allude to a stuck trackpad button which it's not! It's intermittent in the fact it may stop for 2 minutes but then starts again in force making it pretty impossible to do anything on there. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Anyway, what I was wondering is if there is any possibility to add the "Explore"-function when browsing the menu that is popping-up when clicking on your CD/DVD/BluRay-ROM station. Something like in the good old Windows XP, because I'm missing that function alot. I do now have a shortcut on my desktop which is pointed to D:\ (my DVD rom station), but it would be alot more handsome if it was just added onto the "right mouse click-menu". Is there any option or ability to do this?

On the affected PC, check the display settings (Control Panel, Display,
Appearance tab). If the user has changed the colors for "selected" menu
items, it's possible to achieve the effect you describe. Try selecting
"Windows XP" for "Windows and Buttons" and "Default (blue)" for "Color
Scheme" - if this eliminates the problem, ask the user if he or she changed
the display colors.

The users can still right click on applications on the taskbar and receive a context menu even though I've disabled the context menu in the group policy editor.
User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Start Menu and Taskbar/Remove access to the context menus for the taskbar - Enabled

And I can't figure out how to remove the "show desktop" icon in the systems notification tray.

Thanks in advance for any help
Megan Armstrong.

A:Windows 7 Restricted User - Remove Right click on taskbar icons; Remove show desktop icon

Hello Megan,

Hope you're doing fine.

Disabling context menu from application on the taskbar
Please note the task bar context menu for any application for windows 7 is sub-divided into two sections :

   a. Jumplist(to access recently opened files)
   b. Creating a new instance of the application, Pin/Unpin, Close window

We can only disable the Jump List of the Taskbar context menu but not the "new instance creation, Pin/Unpin, close window"

Please follow the steps below to disable jump list:
1. Right-click on the Taskbar and then select Properties.
2. Click on the Start Menu tab and uncheck "Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar".
3. Click OK.

Disabling Show Desktop from the system tray
Regarding the requirement of disabling the "Show Desktop" button alltogether from the System tray, this is by design.

There are no ways to remove it. All we can do is to disable aero peek at Taskbar properties by right clicking and uncheck the option "Use Aero Peek to preview the desktop".
There's a third party software which addresses this sopecific purpose but I'm not pretty sure if this works perfectly for Windows 7 SP1 as well. Please refer to the link below.

Hi, I just resolved my virus/spyware/trojan issues in the other section on this website and I was wondering if I could get some help on my last two issues. There are three users on this computer, but on only one of them these weird folders show up. On the desktop there is a %USERPROFILE% folder. There is also one just inside the C drive. Is there something screwed up in the registry?

Separate issue is that it seems most of the Add/Remove buttons are missing. Only for recently installed programs do I get the option to remove them. Some show file size too, but most don't show anything at all. What's the deal?

Can anyone help me with these issues? Thanks!

Can anyone help resolve this?

The only thing that I can think of is possibly the recent Windows Security Updates.

i have windows xp. was switched from time warner and ez armor to comcast and mcafee. i have uninstalled ez armor via the control panel and continue to get the right click menu failure. i have removed unvet32.exe via safe mode. i have removed registry keys in safe mode. i have a registry key in software\classes\clsid... that refuses to open. this is the last item to vanish before i can install mcafee. does anyone know how to get rid of it?

If I remember correctly, registry keys have in their properties a security tab, just like files and folders. Maybe you don't have permission set correctly to open that key?

Hi

I have installed quick mount for mounting virtual box images. Later I have uninstalled it. Now it's options are showed in right-click menu.

How can I remove them?

regards
Abid Shahzad

A:Remove Quick mount from right click menu

I am not familiar with the product you mention.

However, you can remove 3rd party context menu entries via the registry.

If you are not comfortable doing that , a free program called Glary utilities is easy to use for the job:

Glary Utilities - Award Winning System Optimizer and Registry Cleaner | Glarysoft

Under Optimize and Improve >Context menu manager.

How do I remove 'Open with CFF Explorer' from the right click menu?

I had installed Explorer Suite and later removed it. Even after removing it, it's right click menu item didn't go away.

Please help. It's too annoying and it gives an error on clicking it.

Thanks.

A:How do I remove 'Open with CFF Explorer' from right click menu?

Hello Abhishek,

If you haven't already, you might see if reinstalling the program, unchecking the option to display the context menu in the program's settings/options to remove it, then uninstalling the program may work.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I have this mediainfo on my right click menu and I can't get it off. I've try to find it and delete it in the registry but its not there. What can I do?

A:How to remove media info from right click menu?

Hello and welcome 41023 mate some systems specs would be really helpful and your description is a tad short on detail as to what you are seeing in the window.

Plus where are you right clicking as I said we really do need to know a little more on your problem.

Like did you download a Mediainfo app from somewhere like sourceforge??

Hi -

I suspect Malware on my Windows XP machine. Service Packs etc up to date.

PROBLEM: My right mouse click in Windows Explorer no longer brings up the context menu. Explorer just hangs. Please note that Internet Explorer is just fine. My mouse and the right clicking certainly works within other applications. Just not Windows Explorer.

1. I ran SpyAudit (free version) and it showed me EZSearch bar as Ad ware. Has been doing that for a long time. This right mouse problem just showed up in the last few days.

2. Spybot shows no adware etc.

3. AdAware Personal only shows some tracking cookies that are cleaned up.

4. HijackThis log enclosed.

Thanks much for any and all assistance!

Hi i seem to be having this problem which i noticed for a while now, when i right click to bring up the menu or even when i pull down a menu from a list such as File Edit etc.... it seems to stop at a transparent menu and only after i hover over it, jitters into what it is supposed to be like (was)normally.

If i right click into this box where i am writing this thread(im using google chrome) the right click menu is fine and responds appropriately.

I dont know why it is doing this but it hasnt always been like this and does so in windows 7 x64

Hi,
I've been running Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 since last summer.

Today, I used a file comparison program to check the contents of a data hard drive with a copy of it's contents in a folder on another data drive.

After running HDCS Heatsoft(the comparison program) I do not get a menu popping up when I right click on the start button. Right clicking other objects are fine but the start menu seems to have lost the right click menu.

Right clicking the task bar is ok, and a left click on the start menu is ok.
Rebooting did not help.

It's quite possible that I may have screwed something up by changing ownership on folders so I could look at where data is stored but the problems seems to have shown up after running the utility

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Would rather not restore a system save if I can avoid it.

Thanks,
T

A:Lost right mouse click function menu for Start button

I suggest you do System Restore; be sure to select a restore point made before you installed the software and messed around with the Windows Users permissions. See if that resolves you problem.

Thanks for the help.

In TH2 it was possible to remove that button with a reg entry which stopped working in RS1 but it's possible to do by modifying a file and below is how it can be done and can also remove "Show Windows Ink Workspace" and "Show touch keyboard button". Make sure to take a system image or create a restore point before proceeding

Copy explorer.exe.mui from C:\Windows\en-US
Open with ResHacker and expand the Menu tree. In item # 205 remove
MENUITEM "Show Task &View button", 430, MFT_STRING, MFS_ENABLED
MENUITEM "Show Windows Ink &Workspace button", 437, MFT_STRING, MFS_ENABLED
MENUITEM "Show touch ke&yboard button", 436, MFT_STRING, MFS_ENABLED
Then recompile the file
Move to item # 206 and remove
MENUITEM "Show Windows Ink &Workspace button", 437, MFT_STRING, MFS_ENABLED
MENUITEM "Show &touch keyboard button", 436, MFT_STRING, MFS_ENABLED
and recompile again then save the file somewhere safe
Go back to C:\Windows\en-US\explorer.exe.mui take ownership of explorer.exe.mui and rename it to explorer.exe.mui.old paste the modded file and restart the computer. So far no adverse effects at all

Hi,

I was trying 2 days in a row to add some icons in the right click context menu. I was able to add some of them, for example next to "print" or "play". But I ouldn't find any way to add icons next to shell extensions, for example "7-zip". Is this any way via registry or via any other program to manage this ? I think that this is possible with Visual Studio, but I don't know much about it (but if it's possible a tutorial is appreciated). I have some experience with editing dlls via Resource Hacker e.t.c. Any help ?

P.S. : I have some screenshots attached, explaining what I want to do...

A:Add or remove icons from shell extensions in right click menu

Welcome to Seven Forums NFSFM. You should be able to accomplish what you want using this tutorial. It's always a good idea to back up your registry before making any changes. Also, make one change at a time, and confirm it worked before making another.
