How can I uninstall iTunes from my PC and update my iPhone software?

Q: How can I uninstall iTunes from my PC and update my iPhone software?

I've been trying to update my iPhone 4 from iOS 4.1 to the newest version but I've encountered problem after problem.

First when I tried to update it through iTunes it said 'it cannot be restored at this time because the iPhone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable at this time'.

Now when I connect my iPhone to my laptop it says 'iTunes requires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. Please uninstall both Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes, then install iTunes again.'

So when I got to the control panel to uninstall iTunes it says 'the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your personnel for assistance.'

I've been looking for a solution for hours and cannot find anything, I tried one solution which involved Regedit but it didn't work.

Can someone please please help me? I'm beginning to loose my mind!

Preferred Solution: How can I uninstall iTunes from my PC and update my iPhone software?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all, hoping someone here can validate a suspicion I have..... I have so far fixed three machines, specifically HP laptops (different models) that have had W7 crash after installing something from iTunes (users don't remember what, just an anonymous itunes update). The OS goes into a perpetual loop, won't boot fully, can't even go into Safe Mode and the only recourse I have found so far is a system restore from HP. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? I'm asking on the HP forums as well, I suspect a driver issue but so far I seem to be alone in this.

Well my system is custom built by me but to answer your question: No problems with iTunes and Window 7 here.

BTW I've been using iTunes on both Windows 7 and Vista and haven't had any major issues under either OS.

Can you point to the specific item on the iTunes software that's caused the problems on the affected systems? Might help.

I was trying to update my 3GS to ios 5 and well Itunes shut down during that process and now my iPhone is not recognized by the computer. Every time I plug it in it just pops up with USB device not recognized and or has Malfunctioned and this is on multiple computers my laptop with XP pro and my Desktop with Win 7. I have tried entering recovery mode and I can get the screen on the iPhone to show up where it has the USB cable and then says Itunes but nothing shows up in Itunes that says it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. It did it once on my Laptop first time I tried and I clicked update and restore and it began downloading ios 5 but then after it finished downloading the ios nothing happened it just sat there and did nothing. Now every time I try to go into recovery mode Itunes doesn't pop saying it has detected a iPhone in recovery mode. Also it does not charge the iPhone when plugged in to a PC only if it's not a sync cable and just a charge cable. So I can still use the iPhone but I can not get Itunes or my PC's to recognize it to transfer over contacts or music or whatever so I am totally lost on what to do and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I usually can figure stuff out through google but these problems have absolutely floored me. I have not been able to update Windows in quite some time. It claims it was never updated. I also cannot manually update Microsoft Security Essentials though it does seem to automatically update regularly. I've tried just about every suggestion on the net and nothing is working.

Then when updating my iPhone to the new iOS, the update crashed and now my phone can't even be restored through iTunes -- this may be possibly be caused by outdated Windows.

It's driving me insane. My phone is ruined, I can't update my stuff properly. What the hell? Please help!

I am running Win7/Pro x64. My System Spec is in my Profile.

I do not have iTunes installed on my desktop. I do have an iPhone 5, a hand-me-down from my son.

Yesterday the phone needed to be charged. I attached it to a USB port. I was asked by the phone if I trusted my desktop. I said yes. I was told that there were no new images on the phone to import, a fact I already knew. I've encountered this dialog before. It seems to be part of the procrustean Apple way of computing.

What troubles me is that a process started about the time I plugged in the phone. At a rate of 5-10 files/sec the 'modified' date was changed on over 3,500 jpg files on my data drive. I've not analyzed the order in which they were processed but suspect that it was A-Z on the file names and also on folder names.

Could this behavior result from iTunes running its 'sync' process? If so, is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening again?

If we have no Apple OS experts on this forum, does anyone know of an 'Apple forum' that is as respected as sevenforums is in the Windows world?

It looks like the last time iTunes updated was in July this year. I get the message (through Secunia) that it needs to "add 1 item" but when I try to do that I get the attached 2 messages. None of the music on there is mine (can't access it - computer was given to me and belonged to previous owner), so I tried to uninstall iTunes. I get the same messages. I can't update it or uninstall it.

If I can get this solved, I have another Secunia issue about Microsoft XML Core Services end-of-life issue - that I also can't do anything with. For now I just want to get rid of iTunes.

Laptop - Dell Latitude 610 (1.7 GHz, 512 MB)
OS - XP Pro SP3

I am syncing the iphone 3G through itunes with my Outlook contacts and calendar items without any problem on my PC at home, but it's a completely different story at work with the Dell laptop. When I first got the iphone, it worked fine with the Dell for a couple of days, but when I came to work after the weekend, everything went south.

Once I hook up the phone with itunes, it registers it, but when I hit the sync button, it goes to sync with my contacts, and stays that way for eternity. 10-15 minutes goes by without any changes, and meanwhile, the machine slows to a halt. I can't run any other program in parallel, and it would take 30-40 seconds just switching in between windows. So I would have to manually cancel the sync. Afterwards, the machine remains slow as molasses. I go to Task Manager and would see that the OutlookSyncClient.exe continues to run even though I exited itunes. This is not the case on my home computer. When I exit itunes, that particular process stops as well. If I click over to the performance tab, it would show spike sin CPU usage, and off the chart PF values, like in the GB range. It also is taking up 40-50 MB of memory as well... Read more

A:how to move iphone music in itunes to windows itunes

You can't transfer non purchased music to iTunes from your iphone, you will have to import it from another source. For the music purchased from the iTunes store there are two ways to do it. The easiest is to authorize the computer in iTunes and redownload the purchased items. Here's a link that explains both options. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201267 .

Hi, sorry if this has already been asked, I had a quick look around and couldn't find it though.
My itunes (version 10) has decided it doesn't want me to download any podcasts. I find the ones I want and when I click on the Free/download button it looks like it pushes but doesn't do anything. I can play the pocast (streaming) on the computer but it doesn't download. I have even tried clicking on subscribe and that doesn't work anymore either, (it asks me to confirm I want to subscribe and that it will download the latest one but nothing happens) Please note that I can download podcasts through my iPhone so I don't think the problem has anything to do with the phone

Also, every time I connect my iPhone and click sync, it says it has detected software that was downloaded on the phone and do I want to back it up to the computer. It proceeds to do this (according to the status bar) but then the very next time I connect it says the same thing and proceeds to back up the same apps again.

What the heck is going on??

Thanks for any help

Win-8 Install was a breeze until ? Apple. iTunes ver 10.7 and 11.2 when trying to sync Outlook simply run processor to 98% and sit there with disnoted.exe, Outlook sync and one other apple program I can?t identify sucking up all of that 98%. No syncing of Outlook calendar or Outlook contacts happens. It just sits in this loop for as long as you let it. I let it run 2 hours once just to be sure the first ?sync? wasn?t the particular issue. iTunes will backup the iPhone and the apps. Just not Outlook

I tried installing in Win-7 and XP-SP3 compatibility. Same problem as described above.

11.2 will work on Win-7 on another Toshiba Tecra of the same age, but it occasionally locks the machine. (BRS reset to get it back.)

Naturally it works on XP and has for months.

Other than iTunes, all other programs, including 16 bit legacy, which I need, ran fine and had no issues with Win-8 GUI. In about 1 hours I knew it fine. Don?t know what the hubbub is about with some about the GUI.

Any rumors of a fix for this iTunes issue?

Hey all,

Im having a little trouble with iTunes and my iPhone on Windows 7 Ultimate. For some reason when ever i plug in my iPhone to my PC, it will recognize it as a Digital Camera, which it is ment to do, but won't be recognized in iTunes. I tested my iPod Classic 80GB just to make sure there wasnt any other problems but fortunatly itunes recognized it straight away.

My current PC spec is:
- Windows 7 Ultimate
- AMD Athlon 2 x2 2.90GHz
- GeForce GTS 250 1GH
- 4GB RAM (2x 2GB DDR2)
- 500GB SATA 32MB Cache HDD
- Bullguard 9.0 Beta Antivirus (Firewall Off)
- Zonealarm Firewall

I have now been looking on the internet for the last serveral hours for help and advice but nothing so far has worked.

So far i have tried:
- Uninstalling all apple software and restarting the computer, then reinstalling itunes (didnt work)
- Reinstalling the drivers (didnt work)
- Installing iTunes 9 32-Bit, which worked and detected the iphone but only came up with a message saying that i needed to install the 64bit version, which shows in a way that itunes and windows 7 can see it.

I really am now stuck as to what it might be, so anyone that can help me, i will be highly gratefull.

Along with any suggestions on this issue, does anybody know how I can access the photo files on my iPhone? like the photo's I've taken myself.. Let me start by saying I do understand this sites policies and I'm not asking for help in illegal activities just trying to find some software that will backup and sync my iPhone, lock, stock, and barrel without using iTunes.

I've got a rather large dislike of iTunes thanks to it's rather useless format compatibleness and I'd say the same for the iPhone as well. But well the iPhone 4 was a gift so I have to figure out work arounds now.

Ok I found CopyTrans Manager and have been liking being able to use it to sync my music however using it means iTunes freaks out and tells me I have to do a restore. You can see why I don't like iTunes. Then because I figured out very fast that converting all of music to MP3's was going to take sometime. I jailbroke it in the knowledge that there was supposed to be alternative to the iPod player that read nearly any file I could throw at it. Did that and then discovered I hadn't dug far enough to find out that it's not operational on the iOS4. To compound the matter I'm having troubles activating my SIM which I'm partially attributing to the jailbreak so I want to restore it. However I want to backup all of my stuff in case I decide to go back at sometime in the future.

To make a long story shorter I have been able to find and add most of my music to my library, but there are a bunch of duplicates and a large bunch of files with sort of an exclamation point in the column b4 the title which seems to indicate that iTunes can't find those tunes but the same song is next to the unfound one's and it is recognized. I have tried sorting the columns by title, by artist, etc. but can nor sort by the exclamation point so that all of the bad tunes would appear next to each other and would make it easy to delete them. My only choice now is to hold down the CTRL key, scroll, and click on the bad file, and find the next one and click on it and after my finger and eyes are tired I right click and delete a bunch of them and then keep going. How else can I get the bad tunes out of my library?

sure where would you like to start. itunes 9.01 crashes in abt 1/3 of users. uninstalling doesnt work. re-installing doesnt help. Only thing that seems to help is to re-install older version of itunes. 9.01 also has problems sync'ing.

Whenever I plug in my new iPhone to iTunes, iTunes freezes up and doesn't let me click anything, play any music, or work with my iPhone at all. It simply freezes up. However, the rest of my computer is working fine. Also, my iPhone used to work fine with iTunes (earlier today when I did the initial firmware update) however now it seems to have stopped working

I'm hoping someone out there knows what to do! I still have a lot of stuff to put onto my iPhone.

I have the newest version of itunes, and just upgraded to a 32 bit windows 7 os. After upgrading itunes no longer recognizes my iphone(s) or ipod(s) as anything more than a camera. I figured out that the AMDS hadn't installed, and after a tedious gamete of trial and error, I finally transferred a working AMDS program from a working vista computer. Alas, now I have AMDS, but itunes STILL does not recognize either. I am now open to suggestions! I really really want to be able to USE my expensive toys!

A:itunes 10 not recognizing iphone or ipod

I've used CopyTrans Transfer iPod to iTunes, copy iPod to PC and iPod to computer and MediaMonkey with my iPod and iPod Touch.
Or you could go back to the last iTunes and see if that works.

Do you have the Itune app installed on your laptop as to sync your music from Apple Itunes this program must be installed, if you do have it installed then open that program and using your Apple usb cable connect your iphone and and sync your music using the Itune app and then do the same with your shuffle device. If you don`t have it installed then download it from apple and open the program and authorize your laptop with the app and your Apple account then plug your devices back in, then using the app sync your device with the apple app and your programs and music should be there.

(apologies for the long post ^^")

I would like to begin by saying that I have read this topic but while it covered some of the symptoms of my problem, not all of them were mentioned, so I thought instead of pushing up another person's thread, I'd create my own.

I have a PC running Windows XP Home edition in French (not that the language matters, but anyway). I've had it for 4 years now and it's always worked like a charm. For the record, it does have USB 2.0 ports - six of them.

But in March this year I acquired an iPhone 3G and things started to go wrong a bit.

First of all, I noticed while I could connect it to my computer and sync it normally (like I had always done with my also 4 years old iPod Nano), unlike previous Apple devices I had owned, the iPhone would not charge. I thought meh, I can charge it with my A/C adapter, so whatever. I noticed my girlfriend's more recent Nano and my sister's iPod Touch behaved strangely when connected to my computer, too (constantly connecting, disconnecting, reconnecting etc. making them impossible to sync). But both these people have their own computer and don't need mine to sync their iPods, so again I didn't make a big deal out of it.

Until a month and a half ago.

I don't know what happened at that point, but my iPhone stopped responding to being connected to my computer. So did ALL the other Apple devices mentioned earlier. I have absolutely no idea what the cause of that is. ... Read more

I have just upgraded to windows 7 ultimate 64.

I though Brilliant as it i can have itunes on it and it will work with my iphone sync.

Ok it sort of does apps work fiune abut when i want to transfer movies and music it doesnt work.

Before I start i do not sync my musi, i choose what goes on as I have more than 8gb of music.

The first way I tried was simply selecting the songs and dragging them on to the iphone. It seems to work out fine but then it says that The iphone has lost sync and stops copying.

I then tried

Creating a single playlist with what i want on my iphone and making sure the iphone nly uploaded that playlist. Same thing happens, it loses sync.

It only uploads about 4% of the music which is 3.4gb worth,( I have 6gbs free on my iphone)

When these rrors occur my CPU usage goes up to 100% and it means my computer is un bearably slow and its a struggle to shut it down.

This happens everytime, anyone got any ideas what the problem is?

p.s. its an Iphone 3g

1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program
2. One by one remove the Apple Mobile Device, Bonjour and iTunes programs
3. Reboot the machine
4. Use the iTunes setup package to install again (Right click, run as Administrator)
5. Reboot your PC
6. Sync (finally)

My Windows 7 x64 can now see my iphone after reinstalling Apple USB drivers but iTunes can't since I upgraded to iTunes 12.3 (it worked on iTunes 11 in the same computer: vaio laptop VPCCW).

I tried everything about the subject I found on the web to no avail (resetting device & PC, restarting Apple drivers, trying multiple USB ports and cables, etc.). I also reinstalled iTunes (although didn't clean the PC after uninstalling iTunes).

Please do you have a suggestion ?

A:Windows sees iPhone but not iTunes 12.3

Hmmm well to start with, do you get two "happy insertion sounds" when you plug-in your iPhone? Do you see the iPhone in Windows Explorer i.e. when you double-click on My Computer on the desktop do you see "Johnny's iPhone"? Are Apple Mobile Device Service and Bonjour Service set to Automatic and are they Started in services.msc?

I have a Dell Studio 1569 with Windows 7 Professional x64, 4GB RAM, Intel i5 Core.

When I plug my iPhone into the USB port and open iTunes, iTunes says "An iPhone has been previously synced with this computer."

Then I'm asked if I want to "Set up as a new iPhone" or "Restore from the backup of:"

I've already connected this phone in the past. However, each time I reconnect, I have to either restore or create a new phone, both of with require deleted and losing info and media on my iPhone.

Been all over Google with this issue, none of the suggestions worked for me.

I've read about the Gigabyte P55 BIOS update. My computer doesn't have a Gigabyte Motherboard. I tried that fix anyway and the program wouldn't let me run it because it's not a Gigabyte product.

I've read in some places that on some Dell laptops, the USB ports don't work well with iPhones. That's absurd and I can't imagine that would be the proble; I hope that's not the issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have at the moment 2 new Z50 A-18M (Windows 7 Pro x64) in my company.

There is a problem with the last iTunes (12.3) : when users connect their iPhone, they are detected but not recognized by iTunes.

One user iPhone was in iOS 7.2 and the only workaround I found is to use iTunes 11.4.

But I have no solution for the other iPhone user which iOS must be above iOS 7.2 because iTunes claims for update...

Works fine with an old Dell Vostro 3750 (Windows 7 Pro x64).
