Q: Yoga 2 Pro - no mouse function, touchpad stopped w...

I have a Yoga 2 Pro, running Windows 10, working fine after upgrade several months ago.Last week noticed intermittent touchpad freezing, then touchpad lock requiring a reboot, then total failure of touchpad.Suspected HW but did all usual things such as reinstalling drivers, cleaning registry. Arrived back from trip and plugged in a USB mouse, but it doesn't work (mouse confirmed working in other laptop). I then opened her up and checked the touchpad cable - re-seated it, but no joy. My questions are.. can a failed touchpad prevent a usb mouse from working ?If not then what can cause all mouse function to not work. In all other respects the latop is working fine. Thanks in advance for any help offered. PS I have not tried a restore to previous state yet - but will do once backup has completed. The only other thing I can think of doing is replacing the touchpad.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello,i have a problem with the touchpad of my Yoga 460 ultrabook. Unfortunately, it has a little but annoying difference from my ultrabook (T450) at work. With the T450: When I use two fingers to scroll down or up, I can remove one finger from the touchpad and it still is in "scroll mode" while only one finger is on the touchpad. This is shown by the fact, that when i put the finger back on the touchpad, I can continue scrolling. With my Yoga 460: When i remove one finger while letting the other on the touchpad, the "scroll mode" is interrupted and i cant continue scrolling immediately. I havent´t found any option from windows or my preinstalled Elan smart pad options.Does someone know a solution for this? Best regardsDejan V.

Hey there, the touchpad on my 5 months old E580 Thinkpad didn't work after booting my laptop regularly. The laptop was also weirdly slow in reacting to key strokes on the keyboard. The two implemented mouse keys on the touchpad still work to some degree. Actually a click with two fingers on any are of the touchpad equals a right mouse click. Now, I use the trackpoint to navigate.I tried to update the touchpad drivers, which were already the "newest". I deactivated and activated it again and restarted the laptop, none of which has yielded any result so far. Does anybody have an suggestion of how to solve this problem? Best,Moejo

The touchpad has two sets of buttons that do the same thing, which is super redundant, and a useless magnifying glass function in the middle. What I want is the buttons on the bottom to be the left and right click, while I want the three on top to be navigate backward, middle click, and navigate forward.  Touchpad -> Properties -> Buttons only allows me to change the bottom two buttons.  Using Windows 7, with updated drivers.

Hi MindNarrative,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

Uninstall the current driver installed under "Mice and other pointing devices" from "Device Manager?, and make sure you select the check box on ?Delete the driver for this device? and then restart the system.

After restarting the system now download the Touchpad driver from the below link and install it.

After a routine update to my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 15 type 20DQ-001, the scroll function on my touchpad is no longer working (no two finger scroll and no other fancy multitasking functions either). I visited other forums (a few years old) about this issue and they said to go through my control panel, go back a driver, and reinstall the driver. After restarting the computer this works, until I shut the computer down and turn it back on later or the next day to find the scroll function no longer works...again. I have been using this fix multiple times a day for over a week now. I also saw something online aboutclicking a button in the control panel screen for "mouse" that turns on scrolling; this does not exist on my PC's control panel. How do I fix the track pad permanently? Please help!

While working on a display rotation issue with our Yoga 260's, I have noticed that many of the devices I have tested the built-in Keyboard and Mouse do not always function.  Generally turning the device into tablet mode and back to laptop mode resolves the issue at least temporarily.  I also have seen issues with the built-in keyboard not functioning prior to OS which requires the use of an external keyboard to F12 into the boot selection.  Once in the boot selection menu you can turn it into tablet mode and back to laptop and the built-in keyboard will function for that session.  I tried updating the BIOS on one that seems to have the issue more often than others this week to - 1.50 (N1GUJ13W) 2016/10/31 - but did not see any improvement. With these going to a bunch of doctors I would really like the keyboards to be more reliable.  Has anyone had this issue and a way to resolve?  We are running these on Win7 Pro although with the issue occurring Pre-OS I am guessing it is more of a sensor thinking it is in the wrong position as the issue. Thanks,Chris

Touchpad is working only intermittently. Under Human Interface Devices, I have 2 entries for 12C HID Device. When the pad stops working, one will have a ! in a triangle with a code 10 error. I can uninstall, hard shut down (note: restart does nothing. Hard shut down is required) and have the touchpad back, usually throughout startup. It will disappear again just after startup. Rinse, repeat four or five times, and it will work for maybe a couple of hours. I've removed everything from Startup. I've updated using Lenovo Vantage and Windows Update. I am at the point of considering a factory reset, but I'd rather not do that if anyone has a suggestion? I've been dealing with this about two weeks. Not sure if it was in conjunction with a Windows Update, but I wouldn't be terribly surprised. Note: If I uninstall both 12C HID Device entries, rather than uninstalling the second entry, the first reappears with the warning sign.

Nothing happens when I press the buttons. I'm running Windows 10 Home, version 1709, OS Build 16299.125. Maybe someone can help me in restoring the functions of those buttons? How do I access these when I can't even login to the computer?

Hi there,

As described I my middle click function has stopped working on my mouse, at first I assumed it was a Chrome update and that I could no longer use it to "Open link in new tab" however it seems that it now does absolutely nothing and I am unable to reassign it. I used CAD software (Solidworks) that requires the middle mouse button for me to be able to pivot my view about the pointer on the screen (also a few PC games I play would be much smoother if I could do this).

I have all the latest drivers and firmware installed.

I did find this thread that I thought might help me; Middle Mouse Button , however the screen shot at the bottom shows the Mouse Options on the Control Panel having a lot more option than it does for me, the only options I have are switching the left and right mouse buttons, double-click speed adjustment and ClickLock.

The buttons assignment window that I get using the Razer software gives no more options other than to assign the forwards and backwards buttons ("Windows Button 4" and "Windows Button 5").

Thank you for any help you can give.

I had that problem when I installed "software" for my mouse. I just use the default drivers that Windows installs upon connecting.

A:Left Mouse Click on Laptop Touchpad stopped working

I assume you have checked your settings in Control Panel > Mouse Properties?

It will save a lot of time if you can determine whether this is a hardware problem or a software problem.
Try this: Download a copy of UBUNTU. Put this on a USB stick. Boot from the USB stick and choose to Run The Program (you do not need to install it on your hard drive). Then check to see if the mousepad works OK in UBUNTU. If it does then it is a Windows/Software problem. If it doesn't then it is a defective mousepad.

I have Yoga 14-710 ikb with Windows 10+Ubuntu 18.04 dual boot.1. The touchpad's buttons don't work at all. At first I've thought it's something with the way I've connected the touchpad to the maternal plate the last time I've diassembled the laptop to clean it and didn't care much to fix it since I mostly used external mouses anyway. However after inspecting it again and reassembling my laptop I believe there's nothing wrong with the way it was connected.2. On Ubuntu, trying to turn off touchpad by F6 button will also break the left click so it wouldn't work at all. The only way to imitate left click is to tap the touchscreen (not the best way for me since half of my touchscreen doesn't work by reasons) and the external mouses have their left click not working as well. It however seems to be fixed as soon as I log off from the user and log back. I've tried a lot of solutions by users on Ubuntu/Linux forums and none of them worked for me.EDIT: At this point I guess I can say the left click just disappears at the random times. Causes me to reload every 30 mins or so.

I have the following issue with my Yoga 500 (win10): Until recently everything has worked fine, when all of a sudden for some reason my mouse (USB Logitech wireless) stopped working. The Touchpad works fine, the keyboard works fine and the touch screen monitor works fine.  The mouse is shown under devices in the control panel as a HID compatible microsoft mouse, no errors there.  In the mouse settings, only the touchpad is listed. I have tried disabling the touchpad (Fn+F6), but that only disables the touchpad and won't bring back the mouse.  I have tried to replace the mouse as well, no change.

I have a Yoga 920, which replaced my Yoga 3 Pro, and I love it dearly. I have adjusted to the tiny up/down arrows OK. My only real complaint is that I keep activating the touchpad whilst typing, and since I have an external mouse that I use a lot, I don't really need the touchpad. I would like to automatically disable the touchpad whilst using the external mouse, at least when typing. I decreased the touchpad sensitivity but then the touchpad doesn't work that well when I don't use the external mouse. I can't find any place in Settings or Control Panel or any registry hacks that apply to this model of laptop that would help this. Just purchased a YOGA 720. I am having an issue with the Touch Pad and Mouse. Everything works fine on startup but if I close the lid and then reopen the touchpad and mouse become inoperarable. On start up I checked the Device Manager and see two "HID Compliant Mouse" items. If I close the lid and re-open the touchpad mouse stops working and when I check the Device manager again only ONE "HID Compliant Mouse" item is listed. I hit the "scan for hardware changes" but it still does not come back. If I delete the remaining "HID Compliant Mouse" and scan for hardware changes, it re-populated the item but the mouse still does not work. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this?

Hello, im trying to figure out, how to enable 3 finger tap for a middle mouse click on my yoga 720 15. There are some solutions out there suggesting editing the registry, but i don't have the entries they name and no other entries, that could be related to the touchpad for that matter. The device manager lists the touchpad simply as "hid-compatible touchpad" with no further information. I even tried installing the synaptics software on the off chance, that that would work, but it said, that no synaptic device was detected. I can switch the 3 finger tap from opening cortana to opening the info center, to doing nothing, but thats it. Can anyone help me? regards Sebastian

Been a while since I had a laptop, but I seem to remember there being a setting on what to do with the touchpad when the mouse is plugged in. Unfortunately I don't remember where and have no way of finding it.

Have you tried rebooting with the mouse unplugged?

Hi guys,

New here, so I hope I'm not out of line asking for help, and that I'm asking correctly. I've exhausted my own ideas on this but the problem is driving me IN.SANE.

THE ISSUE:
When using an external (USB) mouse with my ASUS Win7 laptop, the mouse randomly lifts up and re-clicks while clicking or while dragging (despite the button remaining consistently depressed), resulting in selection of the wrong objects, inadvertent double-clicks, and incorrect dragging. From what I can tell, this affects only the left click and not the right.

WHAT I'VE TRIED:
Laptop touchpad - no problem. Everything works fine with the built-in touchpad.
Another mouse - same problem. These are wired mice, so it's not a battery or connection issue.
Another USB port - same problem in all four. There's no visible issue with the motion of the mouse/cursor, so it seems to be communicating OK via USB.
Safe Mode - no problem, from what I can tell. The wired USB mouse seems to click and drag as normal in Safe Mode.
Mouse Settings - no effect. Adjusting the click/double-click/drag settings doesn't seem to change anything.
System Resources - no effect. Clicking/dragging seems to show the same results in the RAM/CPU monitors whether I'm having the problem (with the mouse) or performing the same actions without the problem (with the trackpad).

WHAT I CANNOT FIGURE OUT:
What haven't I ruled out? What else could be causing the issue?

The problem came on suddenly after about a year, but I... Read more

Hey mate, and welcome,

Possible problem:
1. Mouse itself is bad. Either the button itself or internally
2. Driver is not at its best

Try:
Going to the mouse manufacture website to download the most recent driver for your Windows 7, either 32 or 64 bit. If it doesn't work, try without any driver (so that windows driver takes over).

So if you thought your new shiny Yoga had a bad touchpad, it may not be the touchpad at all! My Yoga 720 15.6 was acting really strange where every so often using the touchpad wouldnt work, and trying to use the keyboard wouldnt work at all. I first thought it was a touchpad issue but realized that this is a system wide issue. Something is causing Windows to start hitching. I turned off Adaptive Brightness in Power settings and the problem has gone away! I had a hunch it was this when I noticed the adaptive brightness was doing its job of gradually changing the brightness but looked like it was lagging while it was dimming/brightening itself. Lenovo Support: Please address this problem through any channels necessary because I want Adaptive Brightness but right now I have to have it disabled in order to use Windows without any hitches.

Troubleshooting a fairly new HP laptop. Had been infected with a virus. Cleaned it all up but was experiencing erratic mouse behavior. The customer claimed the behavior started when he got hit with infection. While the pointer itself moves fine the left and right mouse buttons intermittently act like they are being held down causing the pointer to drag and highlight everything in site. At other times the buttons do nothing at all. At other times the left mouse button triggers a rightclick menu. And at other moments all mouse control is fine. This occurs equally on the touchpad or when using an external USB mouse. I tried disabling the touchpad completely but the problem still occurs when using the external mouse. I tried updating the sypatics touchpad driver but that made no difference either. I finally resorted to wiping and completely reinstalling windows but the problem still persists. For the hell of it I then updated the BIOS firmware but that made no difference either. All keyboard function work fine so I have been having to resort to using the arrow keys and alt tab and such to navigate around. I ran a Passmark Burn in Test and everything passed.

A couple of additional points. I ran the Hirens Boot CD which is similar to the Ultimate Boot CD. I then booted into the Mini Windows XP and the same erratic mouse behavior occured so this is clearly not an operating system issue.
