Graphic Card Driver issue

Q: Graphic Card Driver issue

I have sony laptop model: PVCF132Fx, win 7 Home prem x64
There seems to be driver issue on video card. As soon as you fresh install, it works great for few hours, may be few days. After that, it crashed with blue screen.

If I go into safe mode and uninstall the display driver, sometimes it works other times, it doesn't

Any idea? is my laptop running too hot? how do I check the temp?

Preferred Solution: Graphic Card Driver issue

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Give speccy a look to check your temps

Also check your laptop manufacturer site for their video driver

I am running windows Vista. I have just reformated and then I literally started getting graphic card errors *Note was working perfectly fine before hand!!!!*, so I don't think it's the graphics card. After installing Vista *At this time I am running on onboard graphics*, I installed the installation disc that came with the card, and then the most recent drivers. But when I restart to ocmplete driver installation, I get BIOS beeps *2 short, 1 long* which indicates a video error *can someone give me more information on this*. Since it didn't work I decided to reformat again this time installing a later version of the graphic drivers 186, *which I know are stable from when I know I used before I reformated*, and still no luck. The thing again, which I must emphasize, is it was working 100% *no troubles at all* before I reformatted which was yesterday, and my display is connected and coming from my graphics card. I go to device manager and I get error code 43 can someone also get me more in-depth information on this as well as the BIOS beeps.

Much appreciated, and I hope to god it isn't my graphics card

i am having a problem that almost get me insane, i have a laptop (Toshiba Satellite L70-A-13P) well it's my friend laptop, it's been more than 2 weaks that i am triying to install drivers for it ,but what i am stuck at is the driver for the Graphic Card i've been looking for a long time for a compatible one ,and somehow i've managed to do that, but now i am facing a problem that everytime i tried to install it ,it gave me this error message "you must install intel driver first" and for me i gues all the dirvers are installed; what make me sure of that is that i've tried some website and 2 programs to detect drivers and they all gave the result that all the drivers are okay , what should i do now to make the driver work for my Graphic Design since i can't play any video game please if anyone has any idea please give me a hand much appreciated thanks in advance.

A:Graphic Card Driver (you must install intel driver first)

Hi Serious Gamer,

You could try running the Intel Driver Update Utility. Completely safe directly from the Intel site, it should find any drivers that our out of date and update them. Intel® Driver Update Utility

I know you said you ran multiple programs like that and if you've already tried that one, just let me know. I was trying to find a specifications sheet about your friends laptop, best I could find was this. Product data-sheet Toshiba Satellite L70-A-13P notebooks (PSKNEE-03X02WFR)

Does his laptop have the discrete graphics card or the on-board graphics?

Hi, I have recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit,and I have several problems listed below:

1. My games are lagging like crazy, can't move the character, even the older games like CS 1.6, Half-Life 2, Tomb Raider Legend, Sims 2...

2. When I had aero effects on, some random pieces of open windows and taskbar flickering, but removed when I put the Windows 7 Basic theme on.
So I was wondering, is this because of the driver, because everything was working fine when I had XP installed, and is there a way to fix it???

P.S. I have chatted with an NVIDIA support technician, and he said that I perform a clean installation of the driver, which I did, but nothing still.

A:Need help with Graphic Card driver

Have you performed a clean install of the Windows 7 or you upgraded from XP?
I usually suggest to make clean OS installs so possible errors might be avoided. If you didn't upgrade, try using Driver Sweeper and then make sure you install the proper drivers for your videocard: 7600GS - Windows 7 x32 drivers.

try booting into safe mode
start the PC and keep tapping F8 a menu should appear - choose safe mode
if that opens ok
a couple of things to try
1) Do a system restore to before it went into hibination & turned off
start>
programs>
accessories>
system tools>
system restore?
choose a date before problem
2) update the graphics / video driver - whats the make and model of PC - what version of windows are you running - the driver should be available on the PC manufacturers website - support section

Hello TSG.

First off, I think I should start by saying my PC specs:
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2, .Net Framework 1.1 and 2.0, 32 bit
Processor: AMD Sempron, 2600+, 1.6GB GHZ
RAM: 512mb + 1GB tablet
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon x550, 256MB (I know, old)
Hard Drives: C: Total - 30GB, Free - 8GB; D: Total - 45GB, Free - 44GB;
I've been having some trouble since last friday.

I thought of adding all what I did, but it'd be long and unnecesesary. I'll just post what I did after formating.
I was getting some blue screens saying that ati2dvag.dll was stanked on a infinite loop. After a lot of unsuccessful fixes, I formatted my Hard Drives (which explains why I have so much free space).

Now after I installed the ATI latest driver, my computer keeps crashing. It doesn't crash on secure mode though. I don't see any blue screen now though, the computer just freezes, screen goes black for a second, and when the image comes back, the graphic card is not working right anymore (I know this because the image refreshes much slower). Or it just freezes permanently.

I tried older display drivers, like 8.1 and 9.1, HECK, even 5.2. None of them made a difference.

I'm so tired... I've spent hours and hours on this... I also lost everything I had when I formatted...

Please, help me...

EDIT: Did I put this in the right section? I'm new so I'm not really sure o.o

The ATI Radeon x1650PRO does not have a high power requirement so it is unlikely to be related the PSU. There are two possible problems,

the first to look at is did you install the card correctly?

the second is, do you have the correct drivers for the card. ie 64bit

Hello. Recently I bought Gigabyte HD 4650 1gb agp 8x card. I unistalled drivers for my old card, removed the old card, put this new card, and plugged in everything. I turned on my pc, installed drivers and directx from cd, and restarted. But i then i noticed some problems.
First, Aero looks weird(picture: http://oi56.tinypic.com/2qu87xz.jpg), so i turned it off. Second, in game scenes and game itself works perfectly, but intros, and other prerendered scenes are really slow and laggy(1 fps!).
Third, when i start playing some game, it lags a bit but after a few seconds it stops and works perfect.
Fourth, some games don't show graphics correctly. Examples:
Assassins creed 2(first scene): http://i51.tinypic.com/16c9kzp.png
NFS Carbon(if i set visual treatment on high, otherwise it works normally): http://i53.tinypic.com/21e5kb7.pn
Also, I noticed that Catalyst Control Center doesn't show SmartGart and VPU recover tab, and I think they should be there.
I installed new drivers, installed newer version of directx, didn't helped. I removed drivers, same thing, i played with some options in Catalyst and ingame options, nothing. I changed some compatibilty stuff in windows, same thing. Please help, I really don't understand why it doesn't works properly. I meet all the requirements for this card, and this problems really frustrates me. Thanks in advance

Firstly, when you say "new drivers" are you referring to the one's provided on the install CD/DVD? If not then download the latest and see if that helps.

Secondly, for uninstalling drivers I'd recommend using Driver Sweeper to completely eradicate any trace of the previous driver and see if that helps.

Welcome to TSF.

Sorry, but I have to ask this . . . . Why are you still running WinXP SP1 (or even SP2 as it indicates under your username)?? If this PC is connected to the internet, you subjecting it to a lot of vulnerabilities. You really should install SP3.

You can download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en

Both the download and the install will take a chunk of time, but it'll be worth it in the long run. Also, I'd strongly suggest leaving your PC running overnight for a couple of nights so that it picks up all of the updates released since SP3.

Anyother suggestion: Exhaust all least destructive troubleshooting methods before doing something such as formatting your HDD. Although that is occasionally necessary, it should be a last resort.

It could very well be that the graphic card is going bad. The only way to tell for sure would be to install it in another PC and see if you have the same problems. You can get a similar card on eBay pretty cheap or you can upgrade.

Since you've gone as far as formatting your HDD, reinstalling the OS, drivers, etc., I'd say that you have pretty well knocked out any chance of it being a software issue.

I'm really confussed about this issue, but I'll explain whats happened and if anyone has any tips please pass them on.

I have a machine by Tiny.com, running win 98se, 500mhz celeron, intel on baord graphics and audio.

I purchased a prophet 3d 4000xt 64mb pci graphics card and followed installation procedure and install card success fully and have been using it with no problems.

3 weeks ago I got given a 700mhz P3 prosessor and replaced it with my tied celeron, and the machine works a dream (considering it's spec!!) again no issues.

I then decided to upgrade my OS to Win XP (Pro). I booted Win98 and started to upgrade, everything started fine until the computer had to rest.

After searching for the MBR the cumputer would 'Hang' on a black screen with a white flashing cusor in the top left corner.

It took me ages to figure out that it was my graphics card that was the problem and after uninstalling it the system booted with no probs and completed the upgrade.

So no I start the install process of card and the same black screen on start up appears.

I've downloaded up to date drivers for XP from Hurcules website but nothing seems to be working.

HELP!!

OK no clue where to start. I have had a new comuter built for me. The guys great, but he can't seem to get the problem to happen while he has the computer. During games (so far only games) my screen will either freeze, go black, or give me an error message. When I can get my computer rebooted, sometimes it downloads the problem to Microsoft and then sends me to a screen that tells me there was a problem with my driver, but ATI has no solution for the problem. Is there anything I can do?

Would having all of my OLD files (I had to purchase a new hard drive) on the hard disk mess something up? The old files are All in a folder marked OLD files.

I am so lost. And to top it all off, I am not very savvy on the programming files and such. I kinda know where to look, but things have changed so fast, I can't keep up.

It would be handy to know the specification of your computer, if you are unsure ask your friend to detail what components are inside your comptuer, also what operating system do you have. (make and model of graphics card, processor, memory, etc) We can then get a better idea of what your problem is!!

Hope that gets you started

Can someone help me install a new Nvidia driver?

My current driver is Nvidia Quadro NVS 135M and i would like to change it to Geforce 6600 or something higher. But i would go with 6600. So if someone could provide me a step-by-step process on how to install these would be highly appreciated. Thanks

A:How do i install a new Graphic card driver

What you're asking is to change hardware, not software... which isn't exactly updating. You would have to buy the specific graphics card to do that.

If you want to update your graphics card:
Start -> Search "Device Manager" -> Click Device Manager -> Click arrow next to "Display Adapters" -> Right Click your graphics card -> Select "Update Driver Software..."

Yeah, I've been playing a game and some... functions causes a BSOD, saying a critical error has happened and needs to shut down. Other times, my graphic card crashes and I have to do a complete restart.Anyways, I've been recommended to update my graphic card's driver, etc... but the thing is, Intel's main site can't detect my graphic card and the ones I manually download from the site won't install, saying that it can't find the hardware it's supposed to update.I'm running an Intel® Q965 Express Chipset Family.Driver Provider: Intel CorporationVersion: 6.14.10.4943Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility PublisherErr... I forgot how to do the complete BIOS list... so...

That should be motherboard intergrated video. You need to download the drivers from the motherboard manufacturers site.

I feel the graphic card is not working properly. When I click on AMD Radeon Settings, thr following error pops up-" AMD Graphic Driver not Found. Please try again afyer connecting AMD Graphic Card." I tried updating the AMd Radeon driver from AMD site too but even after updatinf the problem remain same. What should I do?Earlier I had installed Windows 7 64-bit but than majy of the drivers were not working. So I upgraded to Windowa 10 32-bit. It has switchable Intel Graphic 5500 too. Please help.

A:Graphic Card Driver Problem

Hi: There are no 32 bit graphics drivers for the graphics setup your PC has. I recommend you install W10 64 bit and use the Intel and AMD graphics drivers from your notebook's support page. You need to install the Intel HD graphics driver first, restart the PC and then install the AMD graphics driver and restart the PC.

I knows it's old but I'm trying to get the NVIDIA Driver to work so I tried that one NVIDIA driver on HP site and it didn't work. I tried in compatibility mode and didn't work. I tried manually to install and didn't work I tried NVIDIA Detecting Drivers tool and wouldn't detect it How can I get the driver to work so the computer can have better resolution?? Should I update the video BIOS too?? Any answers would be appericated

A:NVIDIA Graphic Card Driver

You're very welcome. I don't know the specs on the cards other than I know they work on W7, because I installed two of each in 4 d530's and they ran W7 just fine for years. I did not upgrade the power supplies, and never had a problem.  I don't believe you can upgrade the P/S on any of those PC's. I got the cheapest ones I could find at the time, which is why I didn't go with all of one brand or the other. I think the 9600's are more available and cheaper nowadays.  They should have 128 MB of onboard memory. Here's a 9600 for $13 bucks. This will only work on the CMT. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATI-Radeon-9600-SE-128M-Video-Graphics-Card-AGP-102-A03509-10-DVI-VGA-S-VIDEO-/321613165179?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item4ae1a3727b If you have the SFF you will need to find a low profile model with low profile mounting brackets.

A:Cannot update graphic card driver

Hi @adurr, Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand from your posts that you are having an issue with HP Pavilion 15 Notebook and getting an error on some Web pages lagging or hanging. Removing the temp files does help with sites or issues with the browser. Cookies are small text files that websites put on your computer to store information about you and your preferences. You can remove these preferences by following this Microsoft document on delete and manage cookies. Have you tried another Browser? You could try -in the Device Manager, click the arrow next to Display Adapters to expand that category. Right-click on Graphics and select Update Driver Software if more than 1 Graphics adapter do 1 at a time.Choose the option to Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software. The Notebook should find and automatically install the updated driverAfter the installation is complete, restart your Notebook. Please get back to me how this goes. Please click the Thumbs up below to thank me for my efforts! Thanks.

hi everyone, lately i've been having some issues with my graphic card, nothing specific, nothing too bother some. it's useable... but uncomfortable. i don't think it's a hardware problem so i can only assume it's the driver, but i'm not 100% sure, and i don't know how to check a lot of the specs.

i have a Toshiba laptop, not sure what model exactly. i'm running windows vista 32 on a intel core duo CPU T2450 @2.00GHz, with a Generic Pnp Monitor on Mobile Intel(R) 945 express chipset Family for graphic card; 2 gig ram.

please show me a way to diagnose the possible problem with my graphic card or it's driver.

For the last several days, my PC has been acting very strange upon start-up.
It starts with 640x480 resolution screen and refuses to accept any higher res setting.
I have to re-install the NVIDIA driver and restart the PC to solve this.
But next time I start my PC up, I have the same problem again.
Now I have go through this re-installation and re-boot steps everytimes I start up my PC.

What's wrong with my PC?
Can anyone help me here?

I have P4, 3 GHz, 1 G ram, Window XP home, NVIDIA Geforece FX 5200. It is 2+ year old.
I've already scanned my PC several times with several applications and it is free of spywares and viruses.
This is cold start so it is not temp related.
Also I didn't have any new software installed recently.
Harry.
