I am not sure if the problem is hardware or software. Also, i was wondering if their is a bios command to check my RAM.

Preferred Solution: [SOLVED] Pleas help - Blue screen

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: [SOLVED] Pleas help - Blue screen

The error message is due to hardware deffective it might be with memory, motherboard or CPU processor overheating due to overclocking. But to confirm where the problem.

First uninstall the audio driver and download the upgrade version of it. (If you had installed the upgraded audio driver than suggest you to use the "Roll back" options to use the pervious driver installed.)

2. Go to BIOS settings and run a memory diagnostic tool to find out is there any problem with your memory RAM.

3. Check the tempertaure of the CPU from BIOS Settings or download Hardware Monitor http://www.cpuid.com/download/hwmoni...onitor_116.zip
(HWMonitor is a hardware monitoring program that reads PC systems main health sensors : 1. voltages, 2. temperatures, 3. fans speed. )
Save the log file and post it.

HP Computer

Its a neighbor of mine I help them take care of their computer all the time.

The problem is the screen freezing randomly, it might be in 3 min might be 5 or 10 or 25, it does it after it has been turned off for awhile or all night or when you have been on it for awhile or quite awhile. Point being its not heating up cause it does it when it has been off for hours them 3 or 4 min after it is turned on or sometime it might be 2 hours after you turn it on. I had a thread a couple of weeks ago about this same computer I came to the conclusion that it was the Powersupply, so I put in a brand new 400W powersupply and it ran great (no freeze ups for a few days then all of a sudden it started in again).

The mouse freezes so they can't do anything but shut it down at the tower so I gave them another usb mouse tonight and told them when it freezes to unplug there mouse and put the new usb mouse in and see it it works right away then it would be the mouse. I have great doubts about it being that but I am at witts end. I consider myself pretty good at fixing computers hardware and software problems but I am lost. I have no idea. I looked in the divice manager everything is ok, checked the events and nothing happening there. I know the computer is clean of viruses or spyware cause I keep it clean for them monthly.

A:Solved: Windows XP SP2- Screen freezing-no pattern- but lots- Can someone help? Pleas

The first thing that comes to mind with older machines is overheating. They can accumulate a lot of dust (even in the cleanest places) and fans can get bogged down. Check all your air intakes and remove dust from the interior. Make sure that all fans are moving (including the one on the graphics card, if present).

While inside, check all your connectiuons and make sure the graphics card is firmly in its slot.

If that doesn't help, try a memory test:

MemScope (Floppy and CD images.)
Microsoft Memory Test (floppy or CD ISO image)

If you have enough memory sticks, you can test them by removing one at a time and see if the problem disappears.

If you are running Vista and can boot up, go to Start > Search and type:

Choose to run a memory diagnostic on next boot. Or, you can boot from the DVD and run it from there.

i'm having to boot into windows xp. on power up sytem goes through the windows xp splash screen (with progress bar) and then instead of login prompt it goes just into the blue screen with moveable mouse pointer arrow.

issue seems to be similar to:
but recommended solutions didn't help so far.

symptoms just before issue - was not able to run use some system features - utility to turn off the display, utility to bring up battery info - everything was working fine before this

what i've tried:
boot to Last Known Good Configuration - resulting in the same blue screen

boot to Safe Mode / Safe Mode with networking / Safe Mode with comman prompt - resulting in blank (black) screen with "Safe Mode" in the corners and moveable mouse

test the hardware (hard drive / memory etc.) via build in PC Doctor - all seems to be working
i am able to use bootable XP CD from other machine to get into Recovery Console
i am able to boot to simple live XP using BartPE-XPE usb key and access the hard drive

could you please help me to find solution to this issue
thank you in advance

Hi, thanks for checking my question. I haven't found an answer to my particular situation:

Dell xps m1430 laptop w/vista (32).

It all started with a blue screen w/scrolling text after the fated restart. The blue screen text said "if this is the first time you've seen this message..." and then comp restarted, again showing the blue screen, then restarted into windows repair mode, after repair mode tried to fix the problem comp restarted, then the screen went black / blank right after the little windows loading animation (where the bar keeps moving from left to right and there's a small windows logo).
It all happened fast, so there may have been steps I forgot, but that's the jist of it.

Now screen always goes black / blank during startup after the windows loading animation, so I can't start windows in normal mode.
I can start in safe mode if I manually force shutdown by holding the power button, so I'm not imploding with fear... ok I am.

Possible causes:
1. This occured right after installing 11 vista updates (that restart was when I saw the blue screen)

2. Also occured the restart after running a patch called "Vista TCP/IP and UAC AutoPatch 6.0" I downloaded it from softpedia, the developer was listed as defcon, and their website listed was securevista.net, but the site is down(I found this out after the problem occured). The patch had lots of positive reviews, and lots of people on other sites also suggest using it to re... Read more

Hello everyone. I'm new the the forums here (as in just registered), but I need some help please. Basically after attempting to open firefox today (as I have probably over 20 times a day for the last year at least), I received a blue screen of death, and now my computer seems to be shot. I know how difficult it is to diagnose something without being able to see it, so I made a short little 4 min video of me trying to turn it on and what it does. Hopefully this has happened to at least someone before.

A:[SOLVED] BSOD help. Blank screen after BIOS pop up and blue screen while trying to re

From the video you provided (which is great, by the way)... your system is failing to POST. Essentially if the system detects that a device or component is failing to provide the accurate information, which ensures that it would then be safe to run, the system will not POST.

From the looks of it, your hard drive or memory appears to be the issue which is the issue in most of the cases like this as you're BSOD'ing right after loading the Windows disc and after it loads the files necessary for the install.

My current advice:

1. Clear / reset the CMOS and try booting up and or loading the disc again.

2. If possible using another system, possibly a laptop... etc, download and run Memtest86+ -

Download Memtest86+ here:

Which should I download?

You can either download the pre-compiled ISO that you would burn to a CD and then boot from the CD, or you can download the auto-installer for the USB key. What this will do is format your USB drive, make it a bootable device, and then install the necessary files. Both do the same job, it's just up to you which you choose, or which you have available (whether it's CD or USB).

How Memtest works:

Memtest86 writes a series of test patterns to most memory addresses, reads back the data written, and compares it for errors.

The default pass does 9 different tests, varying in access patterns ... Read more

I'm working on an emachines T1120 with 256mb of RAM. The problem is that no matter what I do I can't get it to boot all the way into Windows. On startup, I automatically get the Safe Mode screen. No matter which option I choose, it does the same thing: I get the initial Windows screen, then a blue screen appears with the following messsage:

Check with your hardware vendors for any BIOS update. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components restart your computer. press F8to select advanced start up options, then select safe mode.

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc0000005, 0x80576DCF, 0xA95E52A0, 0x00000000)

Begin dumping of physical memory.

I don't have the Windows disk that came with this computer, but I have one from another computer running the same version of Windows. I'm not sure how to use the recovery option - every time I've tried I just get a c:\ prompt. Not sure what to do at that point.

Any thoughts?

My brother has a Sony Vaio FW21L laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit installed. Yesterday when he turned it on after the welcome screen appeared he got a blue screen of death. He says he hasn't installed any new devices or software and he ran a virus scan which revealed no problems. He tried a system restore to the day before and also entered safe mode but the problem persists.

Can anyone tell me how this can be solved?

A:Solved: Blue screen of death after welcome screen

Problems that persist in Safe Mode and after System Restore's are usually hardware ones. But I'd also try a restore to a few days further back before the problem.

If the problem remains, start by checking the memory.

In Vista you can do this by running mdsched.exe

On reboot when the scanner appears, press F1 and run the extended tests.

I don't think it will show any non Microsoft drivers, but --

I can run a debugging utility on the dump files if you do this:

1 > create a new folder on the desktop and call it "dumpcheck" or whatever you like
2 > navigate to c:\windows\minidump and copy the last few minidump files to that folder. *this assumes 'c' is your boot drive, if it is not, subsitute accordingly
3 > close the folder and right click on it and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.
4 > use the "manage attachments" in the "advanced" reply window to upload that zip file here as an attachment.

This might point us to a non Microsoft driver causing the error, if one exists for it.

When i have booted up in "safe mode with networking" the latop is still over heating but it dosn't freeze or i don't get the blue screen of death. I am also limited to what i can doin safe mode.
Any ideas what the problem could be please chaps?
Thanks in advance

Does any one know if the BLUE Microsoft warning about having to shut down is a hardware problem and means the PC is going to die, or is it just a conflict with software, I down loaded super anti spy ware, it found or supposedly found ad ware, one hour later up popped the blue screen, off went the PC, I removed the program and all is well, I am not to worried as i am used to reinstalling O/S systems, but this PC is four years old and i am wondering if it may be near the end, I am about to install vista on a separate partition as i bought this cheap but it may as well stay in the sealed box if there is any doubt about this PC as it would waste that DVD as i could not install it a second time on another one, Does the famous blue screen of death have any instructions on it or is it just blue alone, In other words are there two types, thanks. P/S the vista i have bought is a OEM disk and i believe that i cannot use this a second time if the PC it is installed on packs up is this true ?, thanks again.

I recently tried turning on my monitor and it wouldn't turn on. After restarting the computer, the monitor now has a blue tinge over everything: the startup screen is blue, the choose the operating system you want is blue, everything looks like I'm looking at it through blue cellophane.

Here are the specs of my computer, although I think it is a monitor problem:
OS: XP Professional
System model: Dell DM061
BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 2.2.1
Processor: Intel Core 2 4300 @ 1.80 GHz
Memory: 1022 RAM

Under the display tab, it says I have a Radeon X1300/X1550 Series graphics card, Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor, but it says ViewSonic at the front of my monitor and at the back it says ViewSonic VX2235wm, Model Number: VS11349

Thank you!

I have a computer that wont boot up, the following message appears after hitting the power button to turn it on.
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer.
If this screen appears again follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.
If problems continue disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software.
Disable BIOS memory options such as cacheing or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then safe mode.

Recently I have been having a bluescreen come up while I'm playing games. It doesn't occur unless I'm playing games. I can be online and have no problem. I recently re-installed is Morrowind. I played it for 2 or so weeks and got occasional freeze-ups and blue screen. I thought Morrowind had a history of being problematic so I would just reboot reload and continue play. Now the other day I played starcraft and got a blue screen while playing that. After many attempts I am unable to play it for more than 20 minutes or so and bang..bluescreen. I don't remember ever getting a bluescreen before in starcraft, and never normally get it.

I've tried everything I know to fix this. Sound and video drivers are updated. Still no change. When I get a bluescreen it says" if driver is identified in the stop message disable driver". And run memory check for faulty memory. I don't know how to do that. And I don't see any error message like that. These numbers are at the bottom of the bluescreen.

0X0000000A, 0XFFFFFFF4, 0X00000009, 0X00000000, 0X804DA915

Hello mmariecys...

Just posting this for reference:

Looks like you may have faulty memory as mentioned here. Good idea to read this:

Do you have an installation copy of Windows XP Pro or a recovery disk and partition?

The ideal situation would be for you to have a boot disk that you could use to check your RAM memory. I don't know the Tech Support Guy policy on which boot disks are good to use, so I cannot specifically mention one here. Hopefully someone will come along with an idea for you, so that you can test your memory...

I bought this laptop about 6 months back. Apart from a few malware issues, it has performed perfectly fine so far. But today for the first time ever, the screen suddenly turned blue, and it displayed an error message. The message contained a lot of things, and it read something like:

Driver IRQL Not Less or Equal

Stop: 0x000000D1

netio.sys - address FFFF88001E106FD base at FFFFF88001E00000, DateStamp 5034f6a0

Collecting Data for Crash Dump

There was a lot of other things before, after and in between, which I couldn't record.
I'm running an HP Laptop, Windows 7 (64-bit).
What might have caused this? Is this something serious? If so, What should I do about it? If not, how can I prevent this from happening in the future?

I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks again guys.
P.S - I say "again" because I cannot count the number of times this community has helped me. Love you guys.

Hello I have a bootup and shutdown problem which began after downloading kaspersky. I finally managed to install SS with the kav technology without crashing and getting the blue screen. I had to reformat first, and had the same problem after because of KAV on my PC being part of SS security suite; I am installed now, but the program does the blue screen to me at times, and today I crashed again until I disabled startup of program in settings, so may delete. In addition, once I installed my new XP it would not allow me to not partition the hard drive, mine is 200GB, so now I noticed something new; If I right click onto C:\ in the menu options now is an option " format " which was not on my XP system before. Is this because of having to select the partition option during installing XPHOME? I also noticed urshuta.exe in tasks and wonder if it is responsible for bootup and shutdown problems. I have no shutdown screen now, as well. Help!! phantompa

i've always heard that the "blue screen of death" was something to be very afraid of. well, in the last 2 months, it has come up at least 5 or 6 times. WHAT EXACTLY IS IT? should i be worried??
i'm running windows 7 using firefox browser & norton 360 security. i run regular scans, but nothing ever shows up. my device manager shows no flags anywhere. i don't think i'm savvy enough to find out on my own what the problem actually is. it happens for no particular reason or activity. i'm usually just reading something when it goes blank & blue.
can somebody please answer me in language i can understand? i can follow direction if i need to do anything technical, altho i have no idea what i should be looking at on my own.
