I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I just installed windows 7 professional 64 bit on my new hard drive of my ThinkPad W520. This is what it turned into:

How did it automatically turn into a Lenovo Windows thing? I used a disc I bought from the local market.

My PC doesn't seem to have any connection to the internet. Do I have to install all the drivers manually now? :O I expected windows to be able to use my wifi card at least for now.

P.S. Plugging in a USB stick is doing nothing. I have tested the stick with other computers. How am I supposed to install the drivers this way! The CD/DVD drive seems to be working though.

Most of the programs are written in such a way that they are system specific. Even the Norton Antivirus and other such programs are written seperately for Win 9X ver and Win NT based OSes. So try to search for any info at the games's sites you want to play and see if they provide any help.

Hope this helps...

Rather than answer all those questions , please use the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor
which will inform you if upgrade is possible and any issues that may arise upgrading:

Here are the minimum system requirements also for Win 7:

Cheers and Good luck.

Then once you have installed Windows 7, if you experience any issues then
we will be able to help.

I wouldnt worry too much about the drivers, Win 7 should take care of the majority
of them and allow installation, you may just need a few 3rd party drivers after install.

So I have an old laptop running Win7 professional x64 SP1. I downloaded X17-59186.iso and made sure the MD5 and SHA-1 checksums matched which they do.

Properly formatted my USB drive etc. When I boot from USB and choose `install now` however I get the load driver window error:

Also if I try and choose "repair your computer" (at the previous step, rather than trying to install windows) I get an error message saying "This version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of windows."

This makes it sound like I have the wrong ISO even though in system information it is definitely running win7 Pro x64.

What is most confusing is that if I use this same bootable USB on my other laptop (running win7 home x64) it works fine, neither of these errors occur.

Also I read something about trying USB2.0/3.0 ports, neither will work.

Any help is very much appreciated, thanks!

Due to a specific piece of software I'm trying to setup Windows XP on an EliteBook 2560p with AHCI drivers for the SATA controller.  Where can I get these drivers, and what's the best way to install them?  I'm guessing since the laptop doesn't have a floppy drive I'll need to slipstream them into my XP CD?  What is the specific chipset of the driver? - from what I've seen on Intel's page there's a bunch of different options; ICH10d, ICH10R, ICH7M, etc, etc. Thanks in advance.

A:AHCI drivers for Windows XP professional on Elitebook 2560p

Tsk, tsk.  You should have gotten the name of the SATA ACHI controller first.   That is the reason one should always have a USB FDD in their tool kit. OK. I'm going to take an educated guess, and say you have the Intel(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller. Now that you already have XP installed, first install the chipset driver and reboot. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=5071201&prodNameId=5071203&swEnvOID=1093&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ob-96363-1 Then download the second file listed, and extract these drivers to a folder you put somewhere on your C:\ drive so you can browse to it later. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=20216&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%20XP%20Professional*&DownloadType= Follow this procedure to install the ACHI driver in XP: 1. Right-click the My Computer icon, click Manage, select Device Manager2. Click the + symbol beside IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers , this would show the devices under this category.3. You will find the Intel SATA ACHI storage controller listed.4. I have a Satellite s55-a5375 laptop with Windows 10 Professional 64-bit installed. I just turned on my computer and I get an error that says I have no audio devices installed (and, for the record, no microphone installed). Under the device manager, it says Unknown Device, tells me the device drivers aren't installed, and an error about the device's co-installer needing to perform more work. I've attached the screenshots (not necessarily in order). I tried to redownload and install drivers from the Toshiba website, but they didn't work. I cannot update the drivers either. I'm not sure how to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I run windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. I previously had office 2010 beta which i did a complete clean uninstall and removed registries. Office 2010 Professional was downloaded from the MS Office website and so was the key.

But when i tried installing Office 2010 professional plus trial i got an error - Error attaching to OSE, error 0x00000000.

i was asked to check whether ose.exe was running. For some odd reason i am unable to find OSE in services.exe.

I understand its supposed to be in "\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Source Engine\" , but there is no folder called "source engine" in the Microsoft Shared folder. I did a complete search for ose.exe and source engine folder in hidden and system folders but unable to find it.

Please advice. I dont have an installation cd. I downloaded office 2010 from the website link given above. Also i dont have any virus on my system which could have corrupted or deleted ose.

Yeah. Exactly in the subject. My dad has entrusted my with the task of trying to fix his old IBM computer. Actually, he really doesn't care anymore, he just said if I can fix it, that would be good. So I loaded my installation copy into a USB using WinUSB Maker (Beta 2, if you need to know.), and it worked. My USB loaded into the laptop fine, and it actually installed. After the setup finished, which took more than 30 minutes, I restarted the computer as it probably said, after after boot from the USB, it stated NTLDR is missing, press any key to restart. Tried again WITHOUT the USB, and it still had the same results, instead of it being "Any Key", it was Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. I dunno what's going on.
The boot order is as follows,
1. USB HDD (My USB).
3. Legacy Floppy Drives
4. ATAPI CDO (Buncha numbers that probably is the serial...)
The weirdest thing is that NTLDR is ON the setup USB I made. I don't know why it can't find it... Below are the main items and folders that are on the drive:
NTLDR (Wow, really?)

Hi -

Run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor --> http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...e-advisor.aspx

Windows 7 does have legacy drivers it will install to get through installation. However, often these mobo drivers do need to be updated or BSODs may occur. Your hardware must be fully compatible with Windows 7.

Here is the listing from Windows 7 Compatibility Center --> http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...0SLI&os=32-bit

Be sure to select x86 or x64.

examine the disk for smudges, scratches etc.. if the disk is clean it could still be defective. OR it could be that the optical drive you are using for the install is defective.

I bought a refurbished HP 6200 SFF computer in order to revive my old Nikon LS8000-ED film scanner that requires FireWire.  I also bought a FireWire card and installed it in the computer.  After spending many days trying to get the FireWire working with several iterations of drivers and Windows 10 adjustments, I bought Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Windows XP crashed on me out of nowhere. I just shrugged it off and rebooted.
It starts up and my Logitech mouse/keyboard arn't working; the receiver, powered by USB wasn't on. I didn't have a connection (Green light on, orange off) (Port on the motherboard). I shutdown, unplugged everything and cleaned it out with some dustoff, installed a Ethernet PCI card I had laying around.
Booted up, still some errors...
Safe mode, install new hardware. Half of my drivers have Code 39 errors, they couldn't be found. All of my USB ports, Network cards, 9 in 1 card reader, loopback adapters, etc. Everything was screwed up!
I was upset, but just said I would do a System Restore back a day. I did and I still have the same errors. I'm going to try to rollback the drivers and hope that works, wish me luck.

Any comments are greatly appreciated!

I'm missing all drivers for...

Network adapters
Sound, audio and video controllers

There are no backups of any of the drivers...this really sucks.

Again, help is greatly appreciated.
I have school tomorrow, so I'm going to crash for tonight..

I had to reinstall Windows XP professional on a IBM T42 laptop. I now do not have a connection to the Internet any more, either by wire (ethernet) or by wifi. The device manager shows a missing driver for the ethernet adapter. I have saved the drivers on a memory stick before the windows reinstall. How do I reinstall them?

A:Drivers missing after Windows reinstallation

In device manager double click on the ethernet adapter, click the driver tab, click update driver, then the hardware update wizard should come up. Click not this time for the internet seach, then on the next page click from a specific location, then browse for the file you saved on the memory stick. That should do it.

After several attempts to fix other problems I've decided to upgrade my home edition to professional but during the coping of installion files i get these two errors saying im missing
these 2 files a7322ldi.sys C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\A7322LDI.SYS and ahdlkq0q.sys C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\AHDLKQ0Q.SYS and during a check using RegRun it detects that these to files are missing on my computer does anyone know where i can get these again or have a solution I believe this might be the cause of my original problems in the first place with windows applications

A:Upgrading Windows Missing Drivers

Did you disconnect all external peripherals except the monitor, keyboard and mouse, and be sure those are not USB, or wireless. Any internal USB card should also be removed.

I've seen a lot of posts on this topic but none seem to have an answer that works and they are all really old. So I thought I would try a new post. I just did a fresh/clean install of Windows 7 Professional x64 on my Yoga 2 Pro. I was able to get drivers for everything except two things. Their Hardware ID information is below. Does anyone know where I can get the Windows 7 x64 drivers for them?  Device 1Hardware IDroot\LenovoVhidDevice 2Hardware IDACPI\INT33D3*INT33D3Compatible IDsPNP0C60

i have found many sites out there that approach my problem here about windows 7 installation not able to find any drivers.

but my problem is just a little bit different:
- the computer i am trying to install windows 7 enterprise on has its HDD out and into a 2.5" HDD enclosure
- windows 7 has been installed on this HDD before (its messed up pretty good for unknown reasons, so i formatted it while its in the enclosure)
- i am going to install windows 7 through another computer running vista, windows 7 will be installed on the HDD that is in the enclosure (by selecting the HDD for a destination during win7 installation)
- the computer that should have the HDD in it, for some, ultra weird reason, does not want to read any disc in its tray. so forget about installing it straight onto the compuer im doing all this for

but all those sites out there that address this same issue fail to solve it by suppling the drivers needed to install windows 7, they always direct you to a link that (in my opinion) is off topic, badly.

i remember coming across this problem before (when i last installed it), and i got around it, somehow. but now it seems that its impossible to fix this

please answer these questions:
what are the drivers for?
how do i get them?
why is it so hard to find these mysterious drivers?

like usual, any help is appreciated, but...
if anyone can supply a direct link to the drivers (if its possible to do so), then that would be B****IN

p.s. i really do not ... Read more

I won't attempt to answer the drivers question, however, you can install Windows from a USB Pen Drive.

Hi guys,
I recently upgraded from Vista Home Premium to Win7 Ultimate. Everything seems to be going well although when trying to pair my bluetooth speaker there were difficulties resulting from windows being unable to locate the device driver. I am missing several drivers which I'll post below. Is there anyone who can possibly help? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum,

Base system device is usually cured with the chipset driver.

I only see a Vista chipset available on ASUS,

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download M51Vr

It should install, but you may need to use Compatibility Mode

That should let everything get recognized. We can point out the other drivers after that.

The STK770D is a TV tuner I believe.

After you install that chipset, follow this tutorial,

System Information File - Create in Windows

Then we can see what is going on.

Ethernet Controller
PCI Device
PCI Simple Communications Controller
SM Bus Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

Please help if you can, I have looked through countless forums and downloaded about 20 files already and I still haven't fixed anything.

A:Downgraded from Windows Vista to Windows XP Home Basic now I have missing drivers

First thing that needs to be clarified here, when you say "now I'm missing the following" what type of missing are we talking about here? Are the devices and such present inside your device manager and all that is missing here is their drivers? Or when you open up the device manager, all the above and stated hardware is gone? If this is a driver issue the fix or fixes could be relatively manageable. But if this is a case that nothing is there and indeed these devices aren't showing up with anything inside Windows, but you know they are there and still nothing, that might be a manageable thing to deal with, with the end result being perhaps a wipe of the disk and starting over from scratch. Maybe Windows didn't find these items when it was being installed for whatever reason or reasons. If you decide to install the O.S. again, I would first go into your computers BIOS and just with your own eye's, confirm the presence of these items, for if they are in BIOS and register fine, than they should translate over to Windows being able to find them as well. And while you are inside BIOS, doesn't hurt to make sure that nothing is switched off, just make sure all these items your talking about are activated or just active through BIOS and you should be fine.
