Q: Firefox, Ie7 And Pinball Game, Firefox.exe And Internet Explorer.exe

Well when i get on firefox and IE7 its comes up saying firefox.exe incounters problems we need to close this, same with IE7 i cannot get on any site to i got browse the net, and also it happens to a pinball game, in the games on all programs.

When i just click on the Pinball game, it open then closes.
Is there a way to stop this from happening?
I am not sure if this is Malware or a threat to the computer, but maybe you guys here may know if it is or not.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I have a computer that has Firefox and Internet Explorer installed (latest updates) on Windows XP Pro and everytime I launch one of them my computer freezes. It does not display an error of any kind. I cannot do anything. Although I can move my mouse anywhere. I've ran programs Ashampoo, PC Checkup and a Register clean up program. I don't know if those are any good but apperantly they do not do anything to fix my issue. I know I have access to the internet because I can connect to my messenger.

Yesterday I re-installed Firefox (trying my last way of fixing this issue) and after I finished installing it, it launched to its default website. I then closed the browser, I launched it again to recheck and my computer froze up again.

Please help me

Thank you

You don't "transfer".

You export from one and import to the other. Both browsers have built-in import/export functions.

A:Internet Explorer VS. Firefox

I think googling firefox vs. ie would be a start.

Personally I use firefox, I used to use ie.
Not everything works in firefox(most normal webpages do), for example sites that use active x don't work, like windows update, so you still need to keep ie around even if it isn't the main browser. I really can't stand using ie anymore after using firefox, mainly because of tab browsing, although you can achieve a similar effect by just opening ie several times, or installing a browser add on like maxthon.

But IMO, Firefox is way better, I love tabs, and the find as you type thing is nice too, plus there are extensions that let you add features that you like, and themes to change the look.

Hey everyone:

I'm running Windows XP and I'd like to update my browser to the easiest yet most secure application. I'm currently running Internet Explorer, so I'm leaning towards IE8. However, i've heard lots of rumors about IE...that it's not secure, that there are bugs with the new IE8. With firefox, friends have told me that it isn't as easy to navigate but is safer to use than IE.

If anyone out there can tell me the pros and cons with using IE vs. Firefox I'd truly appreciate it. Also, if there's anyone out there that's having serious problems with IE8 and wouldn't suggest, please let me know! I've seen the postings with being unable to access certain websites using IE8 like pogo.com (a site that I love to use!)

Thanks in advance guys

A:Internet Explorer 8 vs. Firefox

Which you prefer is really a matter of personal preference. In no particular order, here is a list of reasons to prefer Firefox.
1. It is not a MS product.
2. It is not a part of the Windows Operating System.
3. Security patches and system enhancements are frequent and timely.
4. With the use of add-ons, you can tailor your browser to meet very individual needs.
5. It is not a MS product.
6. It loads (at least for me) pages much faster than IE.
7. It includes a spell-check function for Internet entries ( I am an forum addict).
8. Bookmarks are easy to organise and are automatically backed up.
9. Personal preferences are kept in separate files, so you can reinstall Firefox without loosing them.
10. It is not a MS product.

John

I have been using Firefox as my internet browser, yet Internet Explorer still pops up with advertisements from several companies or AOL searches for products (such as: www.searchfeed.com, c5.zedo.com/jsc/c5/ff2.html?n=377;c=99;s=36;d=27;w=1024;h=768, www.pcsecurityshield.com/lp/shield-deluxe-5.aspx?trk=WTK&affid=541, url.adtrgt.com, and other companies). These seem to pop up every few minutes.

My computer's desktop image was changed to a blue screen with a yellow box that read "Virus detected, please download an adware remover" and as a computer administrator (on our multi-user computer) i had privileges such as removing programs and changing my desktop settings. About the same time as the pop ups started occurring, I lost my administrative privileges. *note, this problem has been solved, but i thought that it may be relevant*

I asked a friend of mine to help me, and he told me to run several programs: SpyBot S&D, Spy-Ad exterminator, and HijackThis. While these programs did detect many infected files and what not, my problem didn't go away (completely), so i did a system restore and the only things that remained were the pop ups that opened in Internet Explorer.

Hello to everybody in this forum.
Just a dumb question from me, again to start the new year.
Should/would a site look exactly the same whether using FF or IE?
I am obviously asking as I have found a site which i have to log into,
where there is a difference between the Two?
Not life threating, but would appreciate any feedback.
Thank-you

A:Firefox and Internet Explorer

The site obviously looks the same on both FF & IE.
Difference being when i hit the settings tab, selecting
privacy, on IE, I get the option to change my password,
Whereas, that same page appears different on FF,
Could it be a setup/settings issue that i can adjust?

Last week my computer had a virus that I successfully removed using Malwarebytes. Since then I have been unable to access the internet using my default browser Google Chrome (instead I receive a 'This Webpage is not available.' message with the error: Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): Unknown error.

Or with internet explorer where the following message is received: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

Yet it works fine with Firefox. I then tried signing in via Windows Live Messenger where it failed and upon doing the connection troubleshooter received an exclamation mark next to the proxy and key ports sections.

Is there any way for me to fix it so that I can have normal internet access? One major problem right now is that I cannot even upload pictures via Photobucket or even e-mail where Google Chrome gives the message: Attachment failed. This may be due to a proxy or firewall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

This is a double problem I have concerning firefox and internet explorer.

I cannot use ebay properly using internet explorer because when in 'my ebay' the page always seems to have errors on it meaning dropdown menu's don't work eg using dropdown menu to click on a different option the page does not update to the selection.
(I have the latest Java and Internet explorer installed)

The firefox issue is that I sell on ebay but ebays little listing editor does not show up if I use firefox. Is it that firefox is not able to support this or do I need a java plug-in for firefox or something.

I only started using firefox because of the explorer issue but I prefer it as its faster. But I would still like to fix interet explorer as well.

Finally I do not have a windows recovery disc as the PC I have is second hand and I never got one with it. (just in case you ask) Its not one of those PC's that does a system recovery from the programs menu either.

Thx in advance to any helpers.

A:Internet Explorer And Firefox Browsers

I don't use FF. But in Opera, for instance, there is a setting "Make this my default browser", so try to find something similar in FF.

That said, some applications are so bundled with IE that IE must run when you try to use them. Your IM might be one of those.

You might also try telling the site you're visiting to see your browser as being FF rather than IE. Something along these lines should be in site preferences perhaps.

Never used IE7.Have 6 installed.I don't like anything about IE.I use Firefox. It's a more secure browser than Internet Explorer, because it doesn't use ActiveX controls, but Java applets instead. Also, if a security flaw is discovered (which doesn't happen often), it's usually fixed within a few days, as opposed to the months you have to wait for an Internet Explorer security patchIn most instances, you will find Firefox to be a faster browser than IE, especially if you employ pipelining.Firefox Web Browser - PipeliningThe reason it's faster is because Firefox doesn't come pre-loaded with a bunch of features you don't need. You can run Firefox as lean, or as bloated as you want with the use of extensions, which allow you to customize it the way you want it, not the way someone else thinks it should be.Enhancing Firefox with Browser ExtensionsExtensionsNOTE:When adding extensions I'd advise adding one at a time, try it for a couple of days, and if no problems arise, add another.Sometimes extensions have been known to cause problems, due to incompatibility's, or corrupt downloads. If you install them one at a time, and test it, it's easier to troubleshoot if one starts causing problems.I've been using Firefox for several years (since it was known as Firebird), and wouldn't go back to IE for any reason.I think once you get used to using it, you'll feel the same way.Give it a try, you have nothing to lose.If you don't like it, just uninstall it, that easy. You can find other alternati... It sounds like you need to reset IE as your default browser. Open up internet explorer and and under the 'TOOLS' menu you with find 'Internet Options'.

Under the Internet Options window, choose the 'Programs' tab.

Towards the bottom you will see a button that says 'Make default'. That will revert IE6 back to being your default browser. To prevent this from happening in the future, also check the box that says 'Tell me if IE is not the default browser'.

Before you make suggestions, let me assure you that I have tried uninstallation and reinstallation of the drivers, flash player, IE, Firefox, etc. I have also tried the registry fix that includes the wavemapper key, i have made sure that web pages could play audio, I have made sure that third party flash and other such programs were enabled, I have disabled all firewalls and antivirus programs that could possibly interfere, I've even tried the control panel settings where you click on "complete navigation...blah blah". Nothing works! I am running Vista x64, i was using IE 7 (which the sound did not work in either) and upgraded to 8 which still does not work. There is no sound from places such as YouTube or even on google there are no clicking sounds when navigating from one page to the next. Any suggestions>??

Hi Everyone,I'm running Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 and all updates installed and I'm not sure what my problem actually is but it started about two weeks ago when my system had crashed after four back to back power failures within less that one minute. I had to take my PC to the shop because it got stuck in some kind of endless loop where it just kept rebooting over and over and my so-called rescue disk didn't want to work for some reason. The counter tech that checked out my machine when I brought it in said that I was going to have to do a system restore to get it working again so I had them do a data recovery for me so that I wouldn't be losing a lot of stuff that I can't replace. That data recovery was supposed to have been done that day and my PC was supposed to have been ready for me to pick it up the following evening. Well I finally got my machine back five days later after having received several different excuses as to why the data recovery hadn't been completed during that period of time. When I got my machine home, hooked everything up, turned it on and was getting ready to do the much dreaded system restore... when Windows started up by its self. For some reason the Windows CHKDSK program [I think that is what it was called] had started to run. I let it run all the way through and Windows opened on its own once that program had finished running.Needless to say I was surprised by this happening but glad that I wasn't going to have to go ahead with the system re... Hey I'm having a problem with both web browsers. First internet explorer is constantly opening by itself and then crashing instantly giving me the "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close." message, and this just happens constantly over and over, a pop up every few minutes. I've tried to open Firefox and I get the same message only it doesn't open by itself.

I recently got infected with malware and I think I've deleted them all, they were the Vungo Trojan and something called Maldefense. Malware bytes said it deleted Vungo and Maldefense but I'm not so sure. I'm currently using Windows XP Home Edition. I've also run CC cleaner but this did not help at all, currently I'm getting the pop ups now as I type this. Any help is appreciated as I have no idea how this happened.

A:is internet explorer necessary if i have mozilla firefox

I don't think they let you uninstall IE from vista.

And no, I wouldn't uninstall IE, there are still some sites incompatible with firefox. And if you really need to view a page for work or school right away, then you do not want to take the chance of having to search for and download Internet Explorer (IE) at the last minute.

Although if you are able to uninstall IE, you could reinstall a lighter, older version of IE.

Also, there could be other things slowing you down. Press ALT+CTRL+Delete then go to task manager.

Have media player IE or some other program to use as benchmark and look at the memory usage.

If you have programs running that seem to be using a lot of memory, investigate what they are and if you need them running. If not, then uninstall, close, or change there settings so they are not running all the time.

But it could be your antivirus software is the hog.

Firstly i would like to say what a great site this is, and i only wish i found it about a year ago!!

Here is the story!!

I initally had Norton as my internet security, but i got plagued with viruses, and the laptop ended up being almost unusable as it became that slow!

Needless to say Norton got the sack!, i now have Trend Micro which i am quiet happy with...however

I think that when i had the virus with Norton, it must have taken some system files away, as the pc has slow since.

Now, i think i have removed all viruses now, but their seems to be a problem with things running in the background. Most of the time "idle system processes" are taking up 85% of the CPU!... (so bad that when i type, i have to type really really slowly or the text just doesnt appear on screen in the order i want them...)

Since installing Firefox, i have found that Explorer is still running in the background... (is this needed?), as internet connection is almost impossible until i close it down... But then i cannot access any other programs, as everything dissapears from the screen.

Please help, as this computer is making me insane..

many thanks in advance

Scott

A:Internet explorer after installing Firefox!

System Idle processes are nothing to worry about. Normally it is 100%- the other running processes. It seems youre not too familiar with windows running processes. explorer.exe and iexplorer.exe are two very different processes. i'll put it in laymans terms. Iexplorer.exe is the file process for internet explorer, while Explorer.exe is the file that enables everything you see except for the background. Its the running process for windows explorer, that gives the display. Ending it WILL make the screen go blank except for the background image.

First, what operating system are you using?

Second, what is taking up the remainder of the processor? The other 15% odd. arrange them in descending order of CPU usage and check whats running. If its running slow, it sounds like theres still something in the system. a background process.

Third, in task manager, go to performance and see the ram usage. Is it unusually high?

Fourth get something like TuneUp Utilities 2008. It has a process manager built in, or you could use EF Process Manager. it will show you tasks that are hidden from Task manager. heres a link http://www.efsoftware.com/pm/e.htm.

Like i said, theres probably a background process thats causing the system to slow down.

First, we need to make Internet Explorer stop checking to see if it's the default browser. To do that, we need the Internet Options control panel. This can be opened in 3 different ways, but I think the easiest way is by doing this: open the Start Menu, type internet options, and press Enter.

In this little control panel, switch to the Programs tab. In there, look near the top of it and disable the setting called "Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default browser". Then click OK.

Now open Firefox. In Firefox, open the Tools menu at the top and select "Options". In the Options control panel, switch to the Advanced tab (on the top-right). In the Advanced tab, enable the setting "Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup". Click OK.

Now, restart Firefox. If it asks you if you want to make it the default browser, then click Yes. After that, you should be all set.

I will admit that my normal web access is through Mozilla Firefox but I do use I.E. on a number of occasions. My problem is that, when I put in a search, or type in a URL in to the address bar on I.E., it opens up and/or goes to the page in Firefox. I can't get off my home page in I.E.

I have tried only opening I.E., and/or closing Firefox but it still does the same thing. Can anyone suggest how I can fix it so I can use I.E. too?

[Text of this message copied from the archives of another help forum. There, someone suggested that user set IE to be the default browser. I tried that but it didn't work.]

A:Internet Explorer Opens Firefox Instead.

If you're using XP, give this a try.DefaultBrowser allows you set the default web browser for your user profile in Windows XP, without affecting the other users. The list of browsers you see in the Presets are tested and working flawlessly as user defaults. Note that the user interface in Windows XP does not provide an option for setting the default browser for each user. This utility is designed for Windows? XP systems only.Apart from the Presets list, there is an option at the bottom which allows you choose the Web Browser program file and set it as the default. You may use this section if your favorite browser is not listed under Presets. As you read in the dialog, this method does not work with all the browsers. If the results are not satisfactory using this method, you can undo the configuration by clicking the Reset button. Here is the list of Web browsers that I've tested (and working) for the per-user feasibility, and their versions: (continued)....http://windowsxp.mvps.org/defaultbrowser.htm
