Q: Stop 0x00000050 or Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area

I have been getting the following error and this seems to be after installing the HP software for a officejet 7400 series. I started getting these msi installer errors. Well I removed the hp software and the msi loader errors stopped then I started receiving the followinf error :

stop 0x00000050 (0xE1CE7000, 0x00000000, 0x891A052A, 0x00000001)

I feel it has something to do with the darn hp software, funny thing is they tell of this issue and have a download for this. When I try to run the download it says it's not supported. So like I said I removed the software which was a nightmare to remove.

So, not sure what to do other then doing a windows repair or complete reload. When I run in safemode everything runs gr8. When I try to run in normal mode I get the BSOD. I have searched for the files that some say can cause this from a malicious kernel mode driver. was unable to find the files that are suggested that can cause this. I have provided serveral dumps if anyone out there could help would many thanks,,, tried going to windows knowledge base and they seem to think it's malicous code causing it. I cannot find the files they suggest would caause thi draw32 & Mtupd I think that was the spelling. I also ran memory test which the memory checked out ok. So,,, other then reloading windows not sure. Like I said everything was gr8 until loading the HP software. Now after removing the software I'm left with these BSOD now.

I did find the following errors as well. Hope this will help

Friday, March 03, 2006 Service Control Manager The Nortel Extranet Access Protocol service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.
Friday, March 03, 2006 NetBT The name "ADMIN :0" could not be registered on the Interface with IP address xx.xx.xx.xx. The machine with the IP address xx.xx.x.xx did not allow the name to be claimed by this machine.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Zip 5 or 6 of your latest minidumps together and attach them here.

You can find your minidumps in the following directory. C:\windows\minidump.

Please note. Techspot has a limit of 100kB for attachments, so you may need to attach several zip files.

Hello,

After doing a lot of forum surfing, I have yet to find anything that's worked to get rid of this error. My goal is to get the data off of my drive.. the problem:

I am (not) running XP Pro (not sure what sp.. 3 at one point, but I might have uninstalled it) on a dell poweredge 400sc.

Bios recognizes my hard drive, which is a SATA 400gb (No way to run as a slave with an ATA .. so I've read ..?)

I am getting a BSOD (0x00000050) when booting normally. It flashes for just a quick moment after a few seconds of the XP logo.. then computer restarts.

Computer restarts without showing a BSOD when I try to boot in safe mode.

Computer shows BSOD when plugged into the usb port using a external case. (my other *ATA* hard drive runs windows just fine on this computer) Same thing happens when plugged into a different computer.

Computer shows these errors when I try to use recovery console from my XP CD:

0x000000D0
0x000000E3
0x000000D1
.. I think it's shown the 0x00000050 before.. It's been different almost every time I let the CD load today, but one time it was in OS install mode cause I thought that might help..

I can't seem to get this thing to work. Before this happened my computer was acting really slow; dragging a window around or making selection box on the desktop would make things all skippy and send the cpu to the upper 90s with nothing else running. The BSOD started when I tried to run the SATA as a slave to my ATA.

Am I going to have to send my drive in ... Read more

Very infrequent and I cant make any sence of them, I've tried following both, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/329293 as well as tried to stress test my RAM's. RAM stresstest turned out nothing and the "solution from MS didnt help either.

Uninstall the installed display driver using Display Driver Uninstaller. Then install an earlier version, say 347.25 WHQL or 350.12 WHQL.

And free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Report us for any further BSOD.

Today, when I power up my pc, at boot, after the login screen (2-15 seconds) my pc crashes, and it give me PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

With bluescreenview I can see that the drivers are different every time, and I read somewhere in internet that it can be a hardware problem.

Two days ago, I've installed a game that require a lot of resources; is it possible that a lot of stress have ruined something?

For now, after 15 reboot, the pc is ok and it's awake from 1 hour.

Did I have to do some tests or by analyzing .dmp it's possibile to find the precise issue?

Many thanks, again

Hi,

I'm continuously getting various types of BSODs, mainly the PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL 0x0000000a and SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION 0x0000003b. But sometimes the computer works ok for hours without triggering any BSOD .

Browsing through the different threads in this forum, I've noticed that some users have gone through similar problems as mine, but honestly I have tried a lot of things by myself without success and thus I hope that someone here may be able to help and point me in the right direction.

System information:
Thosiba Qosmio X505
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q [email protected]
DDR3 Dual Channel 8GB Ram (Two Kingston sticks)
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M graphics card (Driver 9.18.13.2723 from 12 Sep 2013)
My drivers, windows updates and BIOS are up to date, I have gone thorough a complete computer reboot (factory settings) reinstalling everything, but something is triggering these random BSODs and I can't tell what is it. Could it be the graphics card, antivirus... absolutely no clue at this point .

One typical symptom is that either I get a BOSD, or the screen freezes and sometimes turns off.

Per the posting instructions, the SF file has been uploaded.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Kind regards.

Hello. I have a Lenovo X201 tablet that has been running great until recently.
I have been getting BSODs. I suspected my memory because it appears to have started shortly after I installed it. I ran Memtest overnight, about 8 hours, and removed the "offending" PNY 4Gb RAM based on the results. I hope the attached images and zip file are helpful to help me resolve my issue. Please contact me if and when you are able. It's likely a driver issue as I've also been having issues with my 6250 AGN drivers and I've unistalled and reinstalled several times.

you may also want to run the system file checker as I noticed some Ntfs errors in the dump files:

At the top of the search box, right click on the cmd.exe and select "Run as adminstrator"

I think there are several reasons for it and there's more than 1 cause to it.

According to BlueScreenView.exe, the cause is win32k.sys+bb7f6.

Any suggestions?

Hello everyone,

Lately I have been getting a BSOD while playing GTA V in the story mode with the settings reasonably toned down to accommodate triple monitors. This is the only time I get a BSOD, it's the first time this computer has ever had a BSOD and it's happened 4 times now. Each time it's for PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA which does not seem to make sense to me.

I have tried looking through BlueScreenView to see what driver is causing it and it's always a different driver, but they are all up to date. I used Driver Identifier to check my drivers and they are all up to date as far as I can tell.

PC specs:
Intel i7-5930k overclocked to 4.0 Ghz
16 GBs G.Skill DDR4-2666 RAM
MSI X99S MPower mobo
MSI GTX 970
Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD

Let me know if you need anything else. I have not run Memtest yet, but it seems odd that this only occurs in GTA V especially since I use this computer for video editing and have put it through a lot more pressure than this.

Hi, this is my first post on this forum, I actually come to you from another forum that was unable to help me resolve my problem.

For the last month or so I've been getting intermittent BSODs, all of which reference 'ntoskrnl.exe' as the culprit in BlueScreenView, however despite copious research I am unable to resolve the issue.
So far I have tried:

-Run Memtest for 7 passes, clean
-Run chkdsk /f multiple times, all clean
-Run Seatools for DOS long test, clean
-Updated video card drivers to 13.1 (latest)
-Verified that no system components are overheating or undervolted
-I run virus scans, registry defrags/cleaning regularly, all clean
-sfc /scannow, all clean
-I have no active anti-virus that could cause the problem
-Stress tested both the GPU and CPU, all stable
-removed Acronis Trueimage drivers I thought may have been causing the issue, no effect
-replaced my 60Gb C: drive with a new 300Gb, as I was running low on space and thought maybe that might have contributed, no effect

Things I have not yet tried:
-Scan entire system for outdated drivers (I can't find a reputable program that will do this, all of the ones I've tried just want me to pay)
-I ran sfc/verifyonly which reported integrity violations, however I don't know how to read the dump file and identify the issue.
-Full format and reinstall Windows, obviously this is a last resort

Dear sevenforums members,

At last I have to accept that I am not able to find and/or solve this issue myself. I keep getting frequent (multiple time per day) BSOD's, but to my knowledge at random occasions. I will add all asked information, dump files etc. And I will also give an overview of what I have tried myself. If one could help me out, that would be very much appreciated as I have reached my own limits of problem solving. My computer used to do a restart after each BSOD, the last weeks even the Blue Screen freezes, which may corrupt the dumpfiles (?).

Work done so far:
I used the windows build in checks for both RAM and HD's, I ran memtest86 for 12 hours (no faults), I have ran the system on either RAM chip alone, I installed windows on a new HD and disconnected the old one. I have tried to update most drivers. Read many threads about BSOD's but did not yet find the ultimate solution.

A:BSOD frequent but at random (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050)

All of them pertain to NTFS issues. Has this been occurring even with a fresh new copy of Windows? If so, you may wanna do the following:

Update your BIOS. If your BIOS is up to date, reflash it ("reinstall" it). BIOS sometimes can get bugged.
Update all your motherboard drivers from the OEM vendor's website, especially those relating to your drive controller (may come a driver suite for your mobo).
If those two do not resolve the issue, most certainly we're dealing with a failed motherboard, which are nearly impossible to test without a motherboard testing kit. Unfortunately, because the system is so old, most likely your warranty for it has expired. You may be able to find an exact replacement board, or you may need to just purchase a new board.
For other miscellaneous checks, you should look into:

Uninstalling/updating Nforce System Management Controller Driver (I believe it's part of the Nforce chipset driver suite). It's dated 2007 right now, so something should be done with it.
You have some miscellaneous OEM PC Camera driver (snpstd.sys) that's really old (2006). Uninstall it or update it.

Hello guys,
I have been getting blue screen on my PC for the past 5 days at random times.
Error: Page Fault In Non Paged Area: Technical Information: 0X00000050
My PC is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
Here's what I have already tried:
Tried setting the paging file size to none and then back to automatic.
Removed the RAM, changed the slot.
Ran MemTest86, came out with zero errors after all 4 passes.
Ran disk check, cleaned registry.
Finally, Did a fresh install of the OS.
And yet, I have the problem. The frequency of the error popping up has become low after the fresh install, but it still does. And I have no anti virus at this stage.
Not sure how to go about it next. Any help would be appreciated.
I've attached the dump file.
Thanks in advance!

First sorry for my english.

OS: OEM Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, SP1 (5 months old)
Hardware: 6 months old
Processor: Intel I7 2600K
MB: Asus P8Z68-V PRO
Graphic Card: Asus GTX 570
SSD: Kingston HyperX 120GB
Memory: 8GB Corsair 1600

My problems with BSOD are pretty random (playing games, watching videos), but they are always 0x00000050 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

One of the sure way to gat this BSOD is to run miranda instant messenger (Yaho?s Miranda Pack) and almost any video file (Last time it was .mkv).

I checked my memory with Memtest86 (8 runs) and find no errors. I updated BIOS on motherboard and firmware on SSD. My current video drivers are 290.53-desktop-win7-winvista-64bit-international-beta, but I had BSOD problems even with non beta drivers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Everyone.

I keep getting this error. This usually happens when the computer is idling for an extended period of time. These are some things I've done to trouble shoot the issue.

1. I've ran sfc and it found errors. It was not able to fix the errors. Ive also tried the dism restore health command and it did not work. So I did an inplace upgrade and repaired windows 10.

After this there were no more issues found with sfc /scannow. Computer was stable for a couple days until tonight, when I noticed my computer had restarted.

2. 99% of the time this happens when my computer is idling.

3. I ran driver verifier and it crashed immediately after rebooting. and ive included the results in the logs

4. checked the logs manually with bluescreen viewer, and I see that ntoskrnl.exe is the main culprit

Here are the logs.

Hi last week I installed a new video (which may be the problem but I don't think so), and since then I have had 2 bsod. Not sure if I should be worried about this yet, but I am gonna try my luck on this forum.

The most recent bod was a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050

The one a couple of days earlier was a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION 0x0000003b

i have attached the latest DM Log file

My machine is an AMD FX-6200 & Gigabyte GA-970-D3
The graphics card is a Gigabyte GTX 660

Hope I have included the correct information.

   Warning

Before changing drivers, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point Manually.

Can you roll back the driver using Device Manager.
Go to Start
Type Device Manager
Then expand your Display Adapaters
Click on your graphics card
then under the drivers tab click Roll Back Driver

I suggest running a stress test on your GPU.
Stress test your graphics card with Furmark

I recommend running it for around 30 minutes

   Warning

Furmark will increase the temperature of your GPU rapidly so keep and eye on your temperatures

Most of your files do indeed show Vbabosec.sys There is no mention of this in Google, except for your post. This is usually and indication that the BSOD was caused by a name changing Trojan. I will ask our security people to look into the possibility that you were indeed infected. In the mean time run a full updated anti virus scan. Download and run a full scan with Malwarebytes.

2 days ago, I left Blizzard Background Downloader on all night and used Auto Shutdown to turn off the computer at about 6am. I've done this 100's of times before with other downloads, but never the Blizz downloader. I have also recently changed the nVidia settings on my GTX 260 gpu to "high performance" parameters, ie making it more nVidia controlled than application controlled (world of warcraft). It greatly improved my performance, but I don't know if either of these are related to my BSOD problems. Yesterday I had a bad spyware infection on my PC. I was unable to access task manager, and my explorer had crashed, so I had to restart my pc.

When I restarted, I got a STOP: 0x00000024 error message. Then I tried starting in safe mode, which froze at Mup.Sys and then popped up a STOP: 0x00050 message. At the top it said PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

Since then I've booted the PC with NTFS for Dos and ran a chkdsk, which came up with no errors. The hard drive diagnostics on the PC says the harddrive passes the check.

The only thing I've been able to find is:

Possible Cause: Depletion of Nonpaged Pool Memory
If the nonpaged pool memory is completely depleted, this error can stop the system. However, during the indexing process, if the amount of available nonpaged pool memory is very low, another kernel-mode driver requiring nonpaged pool memory can also trigger this error.

Solution

Either increase the amount of installed random access memory (RAM), which increases the quantity of nonpaged pool memory available to the kernel, or reduce the number of files on the SFM volume.

I don't really know where to go from here, so any help would be appreciated. The OS is Windows XP Pro.

A:STOP: 0x00000024 and STOP: 0x00000050

Hi ragnarok35

Chkdsk can help with disk problems, but doesn't do anything to remove malware. Did you remove the malware first? If so, what tools did you use?
_______________

If you have good recent backups of your data & installable media for Windows and for the programs you use - erase the hard drive & reinstall. Don't reconnect to the Internet or any networks until you have an antivirus and firewall installed and running.

If you don't have good backups yet, backup your personal data first. And scan it for malware before restoring it to a freshly recovered computer.
_______________

A quicker, though less secure method: clean the system as thoroughly as possible with a bootable CD/DVD with up-to-date antimalware tools (I recommend making a UBCD4Win DVD --- http://www.ubcd4win.com --- it is free to make, so long as you have a WinXP CD or installation files folder). Once clean, perform an in-place repair reinstall of Windows --- http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Best of luck

It sounds like maybe she tried to update the BIOS and something went awry. If the machine has a floppy drive, you might be able to reflash it that way. If that doesn't work, you can try to pop out the CMOS battery and put it back in, but that's a pretty slim chance. Aside from that, I think the motherboard might be fubar.

Best of luck, sorry I can't be more help :-/

Right, I have had my computer for a long time and have recently started having this error "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" , it happens completely at random.

I have scanned my RAM using Memtest and tried swapping some of it out, I continue to receive the error however. I have also searched for known viruses and Trojans which may cause it, I have not recently installed any new device drivers or software, so basically I am at my whits end and don't know where to from here.

I know you guys may be able to help so if you need any codes or information about the error from the events log I will post it, this is the event code from the log:

Error code 10000050, parameter1 837fe660, parameter2 00000000, parameter3 804eb0a3, parameter4 00000000.

Thanks in advance.

Oh and whilst I am here can anyone provide me a link to any sound card diagnostics software, finding it really hard to find this sort of software.

Friends Laptop
XP Laptop
She thinks the blue screen came up after the windows updated. According to MS this error has to do with installation of SP1. This laptop shipped in early 2008 - so it had SP1 & SP2.
The blue screen shows at regular, safe mode, last good configuration - startup.
No XP disk or recovery disk
And no recovery partition.

A:Stop Error 0x00000050

'This laptop shipped in early 2009'

So it would still be under warranty - contact the company.

Hi,

Recently, I installed a dialer software for USB modem for net surfing. I used the net and after PC restart I am getting blue screen with this error "STOP 0x00000050 (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA)". I uninstalled the software, but in vain. Then I did system restore to earlier point. It worked for 2 days, but now again I am getting the error.
Pls help.

thanks.
Roy

Hi....what was the program you installed?FWIW, http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=894278&sd=RMVP"0x00000050: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREARequested data was not in memory. An invalid system memory address was referenced. Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video RAM) or incompatible software (including remote control and antivirus software) might cause this Stop message, as may other hardware problems (e.g., incorrect SCSI termination or a flawed PCI card)." The more info we have, the better we can try to troubleshoot.Louis

Hi,

I've been getting this same error everytime I'm doing something, usually multi-tasking, I'm having this kind of error..a BSOD then pop's up, with a NON PAGED DEFAULT AREA thing I think..One site said that it's because of certain registries.

Another thing I noticed is that whenever I'm playing a game, specifically Prototype, I always get an Error with prototypef.exe..an error with the "Don't Send" window and the "Send Error Report". When I looked at the reports, there is also a 0x00000050 byte indicated..so I thought it's somehow connected to the BSOD..

I'll do anything to fix this, tell me what to post, and I'll do it lol.

ANY kind of help is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. Thank you :D.

I noticed some thread starters here has A LOT of knowledge when it comes to errors/codes and stuff..I for one, have none, sad to say...So just tell me what to do, and I'll give it out :D.

If you can get windows to boot go to your windows folder and locate the Minidump folder. Post a zipped copy! Please could you list your computer specs, including graphics card, memory and PSU wattage.
