Not being able to install any MS Office product.

Q: Not being able to install any MS Office product.

OR ANY OTHER OFFICE SUITE....

-------

I had Microsoft Office 2010 installed in my home desktop. It had a recurring problem of connecting to the internet to verify my installation of which all attempts failed. It was getting very annoying to me that resulted to uninstalling it and to install another version.

I initiated the uninstall procedure just fine then it displayed that it had "a problem removing" it. I resorted to force-uninstalling it by using IOBit's Uninstaller program. It said it completely removed the program then I began installing the other version.

I ran the installer and then nothing happened. I thought it was a corrupted download so I went and re-downloaded the whole thing. It came up with the same failure. Nothing happens after running the installer. I downloaded another version of the same provider and it still gave the same results. No error message, at all.

I then downloaded an OpenOffice suite thinking that the problem might be Microsoft product related. Same results. No error message.

Now, I am worried that I broke something internally (registry perhaps) that prevented me to install any office suite. I tried Microsoft's FixIt troubleshooter to aid me in finding out what might have went wrong. Nothing, still.

I need help in figuring out if I need to reinstall my operating system or if this can still be remedied.

NOTE: Please allow a one-day interval for me to reply because the computer I am using to write to you is a work computer from my mom's office and this work computer and my home computer shares the same cables and peripherals (for now). I will try to be on mobile mode whenever something needs to be done to the home computer.

Pardon for the wall of text. >,<

Preferred Solution: Not being able to install any MS Office product.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Not being able to install any MS Office product.

My first step would be to remove ALL Iobit software from the system.

Then...run the chkdsk /r command.

Then...please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.
Checkmark the following checkboxes:  List last 10 Event Viewer log  List Installed Programs  List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and paste the content into your next post.
Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic323892.html/page__p__1797792#entry1797792 , taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

is there a way to download install it and use the program using the same product key mind you I dont

A:re-install office with out disk but have product key

No, you can't download it. Either find a friend who has the exact same version you can borrow the CD from, or you'll end up having to re-purchase it. Losing installation disks can be a very expensive lesson in disk management.

WARNING ! Against MS Product Key downloads. This is 2ce it has bit me.My bad.

Brand spanking new Dell Inspiron 660 W7, 64bit machine nekkid on the inside. Purchased Office 2013 Pro Product Key. Failure to install. I spent an hour before calling Microsoft - they gave up after 1 1/2 hours. They will call me back!! I hope? The MS download install by product key is pathalogically flawed to prevent installation.

1. I follow directions - www.office.com/setup
2. created userid and password for this machine
3. Filled in all the blanks and the product key
4. begin install and filled out the silly little junky key
5. Continue
6. Message - An email has been sent to the address noted, open email and follow instructions.
there is no other option to continue
7. THERE IS NO EMAIL ON THIS MACHINE - IT IS NAKED!
Can you believe this?
8. I go to another machine and remote into the server to get email
9.email says click her to verify our email
10 I click to verify and browser opens and begins installing MS Office - ON THE WRONG MACHINE
11. I think WHAT IDIOT DESIGNED THIS PROCESS!!
12. I close out and go to the new machine and go to the new machine and sign on as to download and reload Office

A:Solved: MS Office 2013 Pro Product Key Failed Install

Hi there,

I feel your pain here. What you have experienced is Microsoft's new 'click to run' (C2R) install process, which streams the install over the internet. The idea is that it will be quick and you can start using the application(s) before they're completely installed, just not all of the features. But, like I said that's the idea, and it sometimes doesn't work that way. Personally I hate it and always ask for the MSI (downloadable file you can run locally), although I have got it to work myself. In fact I don't know anyone who has actually been pleased by this process.

While I don't have a solution for you, I did want to post so you knew you weren't alone in the frustrating process described. That being said, I do think Office 2013 is their greatest achievement yet and is by far the best piece of Office software they've released.

I just got a new laptop that came with a sampler version of microsoft office (microsoft office tools, I believe). This only provided a 60-day trial version of all the applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
Anyway, I had a version of MO from college that I tried to install over it and the computer said the product key was invalid. I tried many times, same result.
So I asked a buddy for his 97 version of office (I know, I know, I'm a horrible person). His installation also failed, once again with an invalid product key.
So my girlfriend buys an academic version of MO from her university and brings it home tonight. Same result. Invalid product key.
Anyone have any idea what's going on? Is it my installed version that's preventing me from installing a standard issue of MO?
Please advise. Thanks everyone.
Chris

A:Trying to install Microsoft Office, product keys don't work!

Has your 60-day trial period expired? If so I would attempt to uninstall it, and then install your own version.
There is a viable alternative to Windows Office, which is free and open-source, found at OpenOffice.Org, if all else fails.

John

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have other posts on my VISTA reinstall problems but I'll make it short to say I had to reinstall my OS. Knowing I had to reinstall Office, I also installed Works 9.0 that came with computer (Dell). Now, that is exactly what was installed before when I installed the Office 2007 just fine the first time (pre-reinstall of VISTA).

However, now when I go to install Office, it tells me it can't find a required upgrade product. On the box Works 9 is listed as an eligible product and that is what I have installed. It gives me an option to browse to the folder where it is installed but I've tried and don't quite know where to point it to find what it wants. Works seems to be in many folders.

Does anyone know what I can do? I don't have internet on that specific computer right now because of the VISTA reinstall issues (see other post) has created an issue with all the network drivers.

A:Can't install Office Upgrade...Why? I have listed upgrade product.

Have you started up your copy of Works to see if it functions?

I picked up this lenovo laptop and shortly after I got it the HDD went out. I replaced the HDD and Installed a full version of Windows XP SP2 then used the Win 7 upgrade disc I bought. I did a clean install of the Win 7 then I activated it at that time without any issues. Some time after that I started getting the message it wasn't a genuine copy. I rearmed the time period but I'm not able to activate the copy again with the PID. I get the message this product is for upgrade and not a clean install. I need to find out if I will be able to register this copy or if I will need to start over from scratch. I did try putting in another PID but it didn't activate with it. I haven't been able to change the PID back due to the message I am getting about the upgrade not clean install.

I appreciate any help I can get with this issue.

Looks like you are installing just SP1 update, rather than full version of Office.

In the same email with the product key there should be full links to download your full version of Office or at least customer service number.

Every Office key has a specific version for it, you can not download just any version of Office (example: keys for PRO PLUS are not going to work with Home edition etc).

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers that are all different. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue. The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your laptop computer or inside the battery case.  Most HP consumer class computers come with a trial or "Starter" version of Office and not the full Office suite. If you purchased a CTO (configured-to-order) computer and paid extra money for Office, you should have received a disc and COA with Microsoft Office product key. Please refer to your invoice to see if you purchased Office with your computer.  Please click the white KUDOS star to show your appreciation

Have MS Office preinstalled when I got my hp convertible but how can I get product key for the activation?

A:Have preinstalled ms office but need product key

@Mohammadali1 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!First of all, you need to know that HP keeps no records of individual MS Office product keys associated with individual PCs. That means there is no way to obtain this information from HP.Second, ever since Office 2013, MS Office has been distributed in two different forms: (1) installed locally, (2) installed using Click-to-Run (CTR).  The local versions used a product key received with the purchase (or via email, from a download), the CTR versions used a product key received via email from MS, but it was NOT stored on the PC. If you have the Local version, you should be able to retrieve that key using these utilities:  https://www.lifewire.com/free-product-key-finder-programs-2625119 If you have the CTR version, the key is not stored locally, and you can only get it by contacting Microsoft.Good Luck

I'm shopping for an HP desktop. I like the p6610f that I can find on the shelf at Staples. It has all I need. It seems to come with a crippled version of MS Office 2010 preloaded. It appears I can pay about $119 more and get a product key I'd enter and convert my preloaded crippled version to a preloaded full featured version of the same set of components (Excel, Word, PPT, etc.). That's fine. I know how to do that.

My concern is: SEVERAL times in the past, my MS Office 2003 has crashed when my wife has tried to use it (she has a "limited user" acct on our current machine while I'm the administrator and I've never had a problem). I have always been able to reinstall it from the original CD which I have. That has not completely solved the problem but that's a subject for a different thread!

So if all I get now is a product key and something goes wrong, how do I start over again? Do I have to pay Gates et al more $$$ to get going again from scratch?!

A:Reinstalling MS Office with just a product key

The trials of Office 2010 are available for download here: http://www.microsoft.com/office/try/?WT.mc_id=ODC_ENUS_OATProdHome_MonTry.

Also, you could go into control panel > add/remove programs and choose the repair option to repair the installation.

When I purchased my PC in 2007 I also purchased MS Office(3 licenses) & had them install it for me (vs factory installed). Unfortunately I lost the box & need to know the key in order to install it on another PC in the home. MS Office advises to determine the office to call by activating Office yet, when I do click that option I get, of course, Already Activated.
When I look at some the answers to this, it seems incredibly convoluted to get a key when I can prove I am a valid user.
Someone suggested downloading Produkey but I'm reluctant to turn off my
protection to install it.
Your help is much appreciated as I'm at my wits end at this point!
