I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I downloaded the new BIOS from the HP support page for the 569, it's BIOS A0.07 Rev A from 2016-10-06.  I currently have BIOS ver 80.06 from 2015-04-01.  I tried to install from the UEFI BIOS firmware upgrade menu and it says "BIOS image did not pass validation".  I also tried to install from within Windows 10 and the option to upgrade is greyed out and below its says BIOS is not compatitble with my system.  Should this BIOS upgrade be on the 569 support page?

Just bought this computer, really nice, got the athlon 64 3500 chip, but the bios sucks!!! I can't adjust anything! Can't control shadowing, bus speeds, or anything an overclocker would want..

Is there a way to get a more generic BIOS for this mobo, and have the abilities to tweak a bit more?

i dont recommend that because its not a clone pc... its a branded one... maybe your bios has options specifically created for your computer... so if u flash it... your gonna lose them...

u can try calling HP and ask them what you can do in that case...

Its very important to check if you have the same type of memory module (RAM). If the modules are different then only one type of module will be read and used. Yes, HP recomends upgrading BIOS from HP website.1. Refer this:http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c000426292. Try installing HP Support Assistant which will automatically download and install drivers/updates:HPSA Link: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html

I have a HP 550-036 desktop running Win 10.  Last week I received an upgrade notice from the HP tool installed on the computer.  I downloaded and started to install the upgrade.  It went smoothly for a while, then told me it was going to upgrade the BIOS and reboot. It said I would receive a few beeping noises and the monitor would go blank after the reboot.  It prompted me to go ahead with the upgrade and reboot; I accepted. I received a few beeps, and the monitor went blank, but the desktop never booted up. I left it alone for about 9-10 hours - no change.  Now I cannot get it to reboot or go into the bios. I tried the power reset - no change. I tried my system recovery disk - no change. i tried the F10 bios reset - no change.  The system has power; the power lite goes on and off.  I can hear the fan, but i do not hear the disk drive.  I cannot get into the BIOS at all.  What is wrong?

Yes, that is correct, and you can update the BIOS if you are running XP. As long as you flash the BIOS with the XP OS, you should be OK, but I cannot guarantee it 100%. I don't dual boot any of my PC's.

hi there !
i was given a pavillion 734n (exact specs as shown here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=bph07941 ) that had crashed and did want to load the xp it came with.well since i was not faced with having to safe any data i clean installed xp . went to hp driver site, after running a driver scan, to see if there were some native driver there i needed to install to regain all original ones and or functions that came with it .
once there i noticed an update via windows for the bios which sounded suitable since i was contemplating to maybe upgrade to vista later and went for it . following all instructions during the process to the "t" all went normal so it seemed .waited for reboot to reset bios to all default settings.. well that didnt happen. ended up with a situation as described here http://www.birdjanitor.com/bootblock.html
having no access to any bios info using that computer atall i went on a hunt for the bios version that came with it. to create a floppy to hopefully recover what looks like a bios flash gone wrong but ( fingers crossed not deadly lol ) the information given about the bios is quiet confusing .following the FIC am37 i ended here with the closest info http://www.e4allupgraders.info/dir1/motherboards/socketa/am37_downloads.shtml

Hi, I am trying to bring an old computer back to life. After disassembling the whole computer to upgrade the ram I cannot boot back into the bios. I have power and the fan is working however when I boot it up my monitor just stays black and the green light turn to yellow on the monitor. I have the power connector and the front panel connector connected. I have tried taking out all ide cables and getting into the bios with no luck. I am a beginner at this stuff and I am wondering if I am missing something easy here? I have also tried booting into the bios without the RTS battery in the motherboard. Thanks to anyone who may give me some advice. Here is the mother board layout.

Hello AlienAxeSlinger,

Nice link, I wish more people would do that. Did you know that your Maximum Memory is 512GB!

1. Did it work before you dis/reassembled it?
2. If so, did you try it with the original memory?
3. Double check all the connections you unconnected to make sure things are seated well and plugs are plugged in correctly.

Hi there, I was having an issue whereby the touchscreen wasn't working after upgrading to Windows 10.  Tried searching the HP Help site for solutions and after fruitlessly searching through Windows settings it seemed my next step was a BIOS upgrade.  I backed up the current BIOS to a USB flash drive, then followed the procedure to upgrade.  It seemed to be successful but after the reboot, nothing.  The power light comes on, as does the charging light, and I can hear a little drive activity, but the screen stays off, no beeps, and no caps lock response.  Holding the power key for 5 seconds powers it down.  Have tried restoring the bios from the USB drive by powering up holding the Win key + B whilst booting - no response.I seem to have bricked it.  Quite annoying as it's out of warranty and I was only following procedures read here on the HP help pages!Any advice gratefully received! Thanks,Rupert.

@FrozenGamer? If your PC takes 3 minutes to boot in a factory condition then you should contact HP support. If your PC is less than 21 days old then quickly return it.  Without any modifications, your PC should be booting up in less than 30 seconds. I haven't seen any official HP posted information that supports NVMe m.2 SSDs.  Run the HP Support Assistant and see if it picks up a later BIOS update. HP's support number is 800-474-6836 or 800-HPINVENT or online here.

What can I do now?

A:Satellite Z30-A-12R BIOS password not recognised after BIOS upgrade

Hi

Before trying to update the BIOS, all passwords should be removed!
BIOS password can be removed by authorized service provider available in your country.

But the unknown HDD password cannot be removed anymore.
In such case the HDD isn?t accessible and cannot be used.

Sorry mate but in my opinion you have only one chance to get the BIOS password removed; you need the ASP assistance.

I have the Dell Inspiron 518 desktop with 64 bit Vista, and attempted to update the BIOS to version 1.0.7 last evening.  I closed all open programs, disabled anti-virus, and ran the BIOS update as administrator.  The update began and asked if I would like to update from version 1.0.5 to 1.0.7, and I clicked on the update button.  The BIOS flash began by deleting the previous BIOS and then attempted to install the new 1.0.7 BIOS but produced an error message similar to "error writing BIOS to block," an the only option was to cancel the update.  I knew I did not have any BIOS installed at that point, but my computer was still operating so I made an additional attempt to re-download the 1.0.7 BIOS and re-install it.  No good, it would not even run now.  There was no turning back and no way to reinstall either the previous BIOS or the new one.  Eventually I tried to restart the computer, and it would not start.
Dell is sending a tech next week to replace the motherboard on this otherwise great computer that is only about two months old.
DO NOT upgrade the BIOS on a Inspiron 518 with 64 Bit Vista to version 1.0.7.  The upgrade does not work and will kill your motherboard.
Art

A:Dell Inspiron 518 BIOS v1.0.7 64 Bit Vista DO NOT UPGRADE BIOS

No it happened to me too.  Dell is replacing the motherboard under warranty but I was told somewhat firmly not to update the BIOS unless advised by a technican.  In my defense the BIOS update was listed as "recommended" under the download section for this unit on the Dell support website.
I would recommend to avoid two phone calls (over 40 minutes each) to tech support and several days waiting for a new motherboard, not to update the BIOS at this time.
Thankfully it is being covered under warranty.

I your Bios has the option of udma up to 6 then generally the bios supports the Mode! and your problem is that the HDD does not support the mode (cant remember if you said it does).

You are probably using wrong criteria for bios upgrade search.
Try WWW.driverguide,com

You Need the MB's Manufacturers Name or at least the MB Chipset and bios Manufacturers Name as well. go to the Computers muanufacturers website (you probably done that already) and search model.

otherwise Download a System info utility from Tech Spot, I use SiSoft Sandra or AIDA32.. (sandra might cause bluescreen on older machines).. Aida problably will have link direct to bios update site. hope this was of some help

Dear All,
I have a question regarding BIOS upgrades as well as downgrades. First, about downgrading BIOS, is it a safe thing to do? If not, then what makes it not safe? I have Dell Inspiron 640M, with the latest BIOS A10. Not happy with this one due to high pitch sounds coming from the top right hand corner of the laptop. It's been suggested that I downgrade only a couple of revisions back, namely, to either A09 or A08. However, Ive been getting conflicting reports about the safety of downgrading from Dell Tech Support. Some say that it's not done at all, others say that as long as it's only to downgrade back to a couple of previous versions, then risks are not as high as going all the way back to a really early version, such as A03 etc. The risks, I'm told, is in the performance of hard disks. Apparently, if you downgrade to a really early version such as A03, then problems will arise, though I'm not sure what the exact problems are. Moreover, there are those who say that there is no procedure for downgrading and that it is never suggested to anyone to downgrade their BIOS. The notion that it becomes riskier as you downgrade back to a really early version of BIOS such as A03 baffles me, because in my case, prior to doing any kind of updating for BIOS on my laptop, I had version A03, and have not had any kind of improvements, enhancements done to my computer whatsoever. in other words, my computer is the same as when I got it last year in terms of ha... Yesterday, I clean-installed Windows 8 Pro x86 on an old Dell Vostro 1400 laptop which had been running Windows 7 Ultimate, and it activated and ran fine, without even a single exclamation point in Device Manager. I applied the update necessary to make the Store offer 8.1 and proceeded to install it as I've done on a couple other machines. After downloading the thing, it errored out with:

When I clicked the OK button, it then gave me the informative and grammar-challenged error box:

Ever the optimist, I clicked Try again, and of course, it proceeded to download all over again from scratch, only to error out in the same way. I then downloaded all the Windows 8 updates, although just the one had been necessary on my other machines that successfully upgraded to 8.1, and tried again, only to get the same result.

I purchased this laptop in December with Windows 10 installed. A few weeks ago I started getting a notification in Support Assistant to update the system BIOS.  No matter how many times I run the update the notification persists and the Action Log has never recorded this update as having taken place. After checking with this Forum, it appears that other users have had issues with BIOS updates, and HP Support cautions against updating the System BIOS unless there is a compelling reason to do so. 1. Since I am not having any issues which would compell such an update, should I simply dismiss the notification? 2. If such an update is not advised, why does Support Assistant display its notification? 3. Would dismissing the notification render this Notebook suseptible to security vulnerabilities? 4. The instructions on the HP website for updating theSystem BIOS are considerably more complicated than the procedure launched from Support Assistant. What exactly is this?  The update in Support Assistant is Softpac number SP76353, Version F.19Ap1, Size 8.89MB.

A:HP Pavilion BIOS Update

Hi @LAB7, Thank you for posting at HP Forums! I have read your post and wanted to help. I understand that you have some questions about updating the BIOS. I agreed that if there is no problem with current system running, it is not necessary to update the BIOS. However, HP support assistant will populate the notification once there is a newer version of the BIOS. You can dismiss the message and it will not cause security problems. There is another way to update the BIOS, by downloading it from HP support page. You can put your product number here on this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers. Select the right OS on the page, it will show the most updated drivers of your model including the BIOS. Hope these could help. Let me know if you need further assistance. If this post helps you to reach a solution, please click the "Accept as Solution" button down below in this message. If you wish to say "thanks" for my effort to help, click the "thumbs up" to give me Kudos. Regards,

Clarification, please! I've been told on this forum that I should upgrade the BIOS for my Pavilion g6-1d21dx to version F.48, which seems to be the latest one available on the product page. However, the BIOS currently on my machine is version F.49. Wouldn't F.49 be newer than F.48? Can anyone explain the discrepancy and tell me if there are any meaningful differences between the two BIOS versions?

Hello HP-team! I've got "hp pavilion 23 aio pc", CZC240BKNV, model 23-b000ec, which doesn't boot. No screen, no POST-sounds. 1. I downloaded sp67096, 70065 and 70066, copied the BIOS to the USB-Flash and tried to recover it via Win+B (+Power) keys combination, but unsuccessfully: no any result. 2. I tried to read data from Windond W25Q64 Flash memory using the external SPI-programmer, connected to ROM-RECOVERY connector, but unsuccessfully also. 3. I removed mentioned W25Q64 memory from the PCB, soldered the wires to its pins and connected directly to programmer, but still w/o results. Thus I decided W25Q64 got NG and has to be replaced. 4. I found S25FL165K (manufacturer is Spansion), soldered it onto PCB and flashed via ROM-RECOVERY connector using the external SPI-programmer. I tried to burn LEE_816.ROM (from sp67096), LIN_8011.BIN (from sp70065) and LEE_817.ROM (fro)sp70066). The flashing process "per se" finished successfully always, but PC doesn't start as well. After I turn it on, it restarts only after some seconds. The screen is black, no any sound. So may the problem be in S25FL165K compatibility? It has same protocol, capacity, but there are also some differences, which might be significant. So my questions are: a). Is S25FL165K ( Spansion) compartible with my PCB? Or do I have to use Windond W25Q64 exactly? Or something different? b). As I mentioned, I tried to flash *.rom or *.bin files from sp*****.exe-packages, downl... Read more

Hi my Notebook developed problems with the keyboard, letters like m, c and the shift key not working. Then boot up started to take a lot of time, now some 20 mins, but it can still boot OK. I am in the process of trying to upgrade the BIOS but I can't get to the BIOS screen (power on with esc held, power on with f2 or f10 continually pressed not working) to get the information that is needed in the upgrade process. What can I do?

Hi Guys-n-Gals
I have an HP Pavilion DV9500 Laptop
I have Ubuntu Linux on a Samsung HM500JJ 500Gb HDD in bay one, boots with
no problems at all.
I have Windows XP PRO SP3 preinstalled on a WD1600BEVS 160Gb hdd in bay two, drive not seen in BIOS so I do not have a choice to boot from it.
Ubuntu Linux still boots fine no problems.
Second HDD Win XP is seen by Ubuntu Linux and I can access folders on the drive
with no problems, so nothing wrong with drive or OS.
If I take out the drives and put the WD160 drive in bay one leaving the second bay empty it boots fine into Windows with no problems.
If I take out the WD drive and put it in bay two leaving bay one empty I get no boot, operating system not found.
If I take out the Samsung500 drive and put it in bay two leaving bay one empty I get no boot, operating system not found.
So either disk will boot fine when in drive bay one.
Neither disk will boot when in drive bay two.
If both drives are in both bays either way round the drive in the second bay will not show in the BIOS and will not boot
Question? How do I solve this problem, HP as usual are no help.
Thanks in anticipation of any help.

Tomorrow is an extension of today but yesterday is just a memory

Sounds like it is a mobo issue. "Bay 2" connection is bad.

I got a big problem. A friend asked me to update his OS on a HP Pavilion 900MHZ desktop. So i did. He also asked to upgrade his memory from from 256mb to 512mb. So i tried. He has the 168pin Sdram DIMM. One stick worked fine. But when I put in the second stick it errors. "bios not acpi compliant"

So i looked up the error. First i found that i can just turn off the acpi in cmos and it will work. No option in cmos. Then I found to redo the install and at the setup screen hit F7 instead of F6. Did not work. Blue screen during install. Also found that i need to update the bios. Went to HP site. NOthing there. Went to motherboard site. Its an asus k7m board. Got the updated bios. Got the flash program. No luck. Says bios/chipset not found. CAnnot flash the bios. Thing is i am stuck. Got the memory from a local computer shop. He had to special order it since its so old. He will not take it back. $70. I need to flash this bios.

Anybody know where i can find a flash that will upgrade the bios or a website to help me with this?

The memory stick is good. I can put either one in and it works fine, just not both. Very frustrated.

Thanks

A:HP Pavilion Bios UPdate

What model Pavillion is it? Many times though you have an asus mobo the Bios has been customized for HP to work with it. And the motherboard may also not be a standard asus K7m motherboard, being a custom setup for HP.

@Akdeniz52 I always recommend: please don't touch to BIOS if you do not know what are you looking for. Because playing around with BIOS is a shortest way to brick your machine. Now, why you need to touch to BIOS just for format your machine ? Regards.

Hi, Try the following. Shut down the notebook - do this by holding down the left Shift key as you click on Shutdown to temporarily prevent a hybrid boot.  Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to access the Start-up Menu and then select the Bios option ( f10 ). Regards, DP-K

Hi,

I'm not sure that the problem is BIOS related. First, see the link below from HP about troubleshooting/fixing display problems.

Hi, i have this HP Pavilion DV5 laptop which is causing me some problems

I am currently testing two different hard drives with this laptop, and I can confirm that they are working fine.

When I turn the laptop on, the HP logo shows up a couple seconds later, and I have the option of entering the "startup menu". If i don't enter it, then it proceeds to a black screen around 5 seconds later. While this is happening, the hard drive light goes flashes on and off until the black screen. After that, the hard drive light does not flash any more. The computer is not able to boot properly, and it cannot start Windows.

However, if i enter the startup menu, than I can run diagnostics on the hard drive, and open BIOS.
The hard drive test passes easily, but it is not being recognized on BIOS. I neither can enable or disable the "notebook hard drive" because it is not contained in that list.

I should also add that these hard drives are working fine 100%, because i use them on different Laptops. (HP Pavilion DV4 and Acer Aspire One).

Please help with any suggestions.

Hi,
Have you installed an operating system on these hard drives? Operating systems can't be transferred and a fresh install is required if you move it from one computer to another. Have you tried booting from a live CD or flash drive?
