Windows 7 safe boot isue

Q: Windows 7 safe boot isue

Hello my name is Gringoyle

Let me start from the very begining, I was play Ever Quest 2 when my key board started acting up i found that it was my mouse, when my mouce was in movement the keyboard was inop so if was to use the (W,A,D,S) keys to navigate than use the mouce to move the cursor i would stop movment.

So I decided to test the mouce in safe mode, I and made a big mistake by using msconfig to do so. Well it started an endless loop of chrashing when windows would boot causing the loop to start over. I can however use F8 still which i did to to try and repair my system, it recommended that I use the recovery, that had failed. I than used the F8 last knowen good configuration option to start windows and I am running again, I than when to change the settings in msconfig i had made but i am unable to. When in msconfig under the general tab the "Selective Startup" is selected, under the boot tab the options are normal, safe mode is not selected. However if I select the Normal Startup option under the general tab the safe mode box becomes check under the boot tab and if I uncheck the safe boot box, the Selective Startup option is than selected again under the general tab.

And my dang mouce is still causing the keyboard to be inop when in use.

Thank for any advice you fellas can offer me,
Gringoyle

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I've googled this issue as much as i could, most anwsers go you need to reinstall windows and most likely lost all the data on it.
My laptop is medion erazer p6679 on Win 10. I was on a zoom call when it froze and crashed. When turning on it gives me the message shown in the screen and what it the boot menu shows me.
All repair shops are shut near by and I really need it for my uni courses.
Is there anything you guys can suggest(I dont have the original windows 10 and would need to buy new, with the current state of the world might be difficult )

Alright this is a family's laptop that is about 5 or even more years old...has windows xp on it dont know the exact one -.-...alright.

My sister has been using it and says she has never done anything to it...which i dont believe but anyways this computer will not boot up what so ever...everytime you power it on it goes to the screen that says unexpected error software/hardware problem yada yada yada...and then it gives you the options of boot in safe mode, safe mode networking, safe mode command prompt, last known good configuration...and none of those will work...we do have the recovery disks to wipe it but are trying to find a better way if possible...and when you try to load into any of the safe mode choices it stops at multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\Mup.sys...will stay at that for about 5-10 mins and then just turn off...if you try to just do normal mode or last known configuration it just acts like it loads with the windows and the little green loading bar then shuts off...the more i type the more i think the harddrive is toast but im new and learning so i probably could be wrong. Just looking for suggestions =)

Oh and this pc will run very hot...so if its a hardware issue i would not be surprised.

#1 Hi, basically this probem arose from nowhere. I came back from holiday 6 days ago and my pc took longer than i remember to boot. Only till i realised the next day and day after it was getting longer and some times not loading past the 'Windows' screen. Each time when it hasn't loaded fully, I turn it off and re-boot pressing F8 to get up safe mode, which doesn't work at all.
It gets stuck on '/avgdiseh' doesn't load past and will stay like that till turned off. Start up repair does absolutely nothing, it asks to do System restore which then errors and reboots, if i press cancel it stays on the 'Scanning' screen for hours.. (8 hours today)

#2 I've now seemed to run into another problem trying to boot from my CD drive. First time I loaded everything correctly got to 'install windows' screen clicked start up repair which did nothing. Ever since that windows won't detect my CD drive even though it opens and did read CD's.(watched a film on it the other day)

I've looked online and other people have had the same problems and clearly i haven't found a solution yet. I've tried cleaning the inside of my case, double checking connections, changing boot options. From what i've read its either a failed HDD, failed RAM (, or failed CD drive in the case of my second dilemma)

I'm just curious as to whether anyone can pin point what the problem is. If its an easy fix or whether it is possibl... Read more

Hello,

I really hope one of you fine people can help me out.

Last night I was browsing facebook and my computer froze up. I tried to reboot it and it wouldn't load pass the windows logo.

It will however let me get into Safe mode.

Here is what I have tried:

- Restore to earlier date: I do not have one created as I recently restored my computer to factory setting (about a week ago)
- Malware scan with Malwarebytes: nothing found
- Memory Check - looks good
- Chckdsk - all went well
- Startup repair - Gave me errors and couldn't fix the problem. here is what the log showed:

Any help would be super appreciated.. i am very frustrated with this right now :(

Thanks!

Hi,

I have a pc with Windows XP with SP2 installed. My computer has generally worked fine with little issues, but the other day Norton flagged up a virus issue. The virus was called Trojan.Patchep!inf, and couldn't be removed using Norton.

Naturally, I'd have posted this in the malware removal/HJT forum, but I'm now locked out of my system.

I need a way to be able to get into Windows before I can pull off any HJT logs or run any applications.

The issue I have, is when Windows is loading up. I turn on my computer, and Windows boots up until the scrollbar/loading page. The computer then automatically reboots, and the cycle continues until I just hold the off button to turn off the computer. I've entered the boot menu and attempted the reboot in Safe Mode, and also tried using last working configuration. This has no effect, and still results in the constant restarting of the system.

I don't have a Windows XP disc as it was pre-installed when I bought the computer.

For the time being I can boot from disc using Linux Ubuntu. I read about the virus that infected my system, which suggests that files such as winlogon are affected by the virus, which would explain my problems booting. Would it be possible to repair these files from Ubuntu, allowing me to boot the computer with Windows? I can then start a thread in the malware forum, posting HJT logs etc.

Thanks for any help,

Simon

Try pressing F8 when the computers starting up, and in the menu where you can choose safemode, last known good config, etc... select "disable automatic restart on failure" and see if you get an error message at the point the computer usually restarts. If you do , post the error code on here!!

Windows 7 Update Boot Error

Maybe this should be under Windows update problems, however I'm not positive that it is an update problem. I have no clue why this is happening. I am running windows 7 64

My computer has been trying to do a system update for awhile. I would shut down the computer. Then upon boot up the computer would try to install the files. When windows would load, the load would fail and the computer would restart. Then the computer would remove the changes and reboot. Finally the computer would boot normally only to still need an update (obviously).

Today the computer is booting up getting to the windows loading screen only to cause the computer to "reboot". The problem is the computer will never reboot from here. Currently to access the computer I have to enter in through safe mode. There seems to be an error with the windows update software. I run Windows Update Trouble shoot and Error pop up that cannot be fixed.

I did this action as I was trying to get into the safe Mode, but my computer wasn't allowing me to do so. So I did:
"the BOOT.INI tab, Check the "/SAFEBOOT" option, and then click OK" in the MISCONFIG cmd prompt area.

My computer got infected or hit by the "Trojan-Spy.Win32.GreenScreen"

I read that I had to go into safe mode to safely remove the exe files and folder.

When I tried to go into the SafeMode, it wouldn't, it kept coming back to the SafeMode, Start Normally, Start in last known... screen.

So with some reseach I did the above action, but it still won't let me into the SafeMode, and now it won't let me out, so i can go back and stop this action.
Help? I can't lose my files... they are all I have in life.

I have the Start-up and recovery cd's, but this will set my computer back to manufacture mode, which means I lose it all.
anything I'm missing. I just want to be able to boot back so I can get a RUN screen and go and and stop this.

A guy I work with brought me a HP Pavilion Laptop that was running Windows XP until he shut it down and could not get it to boot back up. I have tried to get it to boot in every way I can think of:
Booting normally or with the last known good config ends at a black screen before windows splash load screen starts.
Booting in safe mode stops at a line that reads "multi(0)disk(0)rddisk(0)partition(1)\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\AVGIDSEH.Sys"
and when booting from the disk it stops at the Windows Setup blue screen that reads starting windows at the bottom of the screen after it loads the setup files, it never gets to the point that I can do anything.
Looking for any help that I can get to solve this problem and get this PC up and running again.

I have a PC here that won't boot into Windows. You see a quick flash of the windows logo, then it goes straight into a blue stop screen. It won't boot into safe mode either.....the same thing happens when you try to boot to safe mode. It won't boot in "last working config".

What can I do here? There's no way to run an anti-malware/virus, because I can't get in. This isn't my PC. It was given to me. The lady said she may have downloaded a virus, and she only used it to play internet games, and surf.

Any help is appreciated.

A:PC Won't Boot Into Windows - BSOD - No Safe Mode - No Way To Boot?

Do you have a second hard drive available? If so, installing a temporary OS and anti-virus into it, and running the original HD as a secondary HD will allow you to see if (a) the original HD is operational in the first place, and (b) be able to run that anti-virus and see if it finds something. Depending on how how your HDs are installed (IDE or SATA) will depend on how to set this up.

In an IDE system, because both drives would have an OS in them, do not use CS for your cable settings - set the new drive to MASTER (MA) and the the old drive as SLAVE (SL). In an SATA system, since this system is plug-and-play, simply leave the old drive unplugged from the SATA cable while booting up the new drive. Once up and running, plug in the cable and allow the computer to 'find' the drive. If it fails to, there's a good chance the drive is dead.

In either version, once the computer hopefully 'finds' the old drive, you have your choice on what to do at this point - first will be of course, run the anti virus. Then you could save any files that might need to be backed up. But this would be the point to see if you want to keep the original, or leave it as a second drive in the computer (a good way to keep files happy, as virus' tend to stick to the boot drive).

Mind you, if you choose to go back to the old drive as the main, if the anti virus actually found anything, you may still find the unit does not want to boot, since removing the virus may have trash... Read more

The laptop has a broken screen, I tried to attach the laptop to another monitor via VGA but didn`t wor, no image at all. So I`m wondering if the mainboard is bustedm since I don`t know if I should order a new display for it or just toss it in the garbage can. The colored leds are on when I start it, no booting sound, but the HDD is working, so is the dvd-rw, I mean it takes commands, all the buttons work, I mean restart and power.is there a chance that the mainboard is bustend and I still have power on cpu/optical device/storage?

I am trying to help a friend get her PC back running. From what I can tell the PC is full of spyware and likely a virus or 2. I'm told that it kept gettin slower and slower and eventually got to the point where it won't even boot up. In normal mode it begins loading windows and then stops and doees a disk check, following completion it reboots and gdoes the check disk again, over and over. I tried to start in safe mode but it stalls when it is loading a driver file,(.......\windows\system32\drivers\mup.sys) then it hangs for about 5 minutes reboots itself and starts all this over and over. Last Known good config does the same thing. It did not come with the XP CD and if it came with a restore CD, she can't find it. Is there a Windows XP startup disk that can be downloaded or something, that I can use to get it going?? I tried with a Win98 startup floppy and it will boot into the Dos prompt, so I can look at the files on the C drive, but won't allow me to go any further.

Does anyone have a suggestion on starting this thing up, if I can only get it to safe mode I am sure I can clean up the problem for her.

BTW, she advises that the virus scan software, just stopped working and that she never ran a windows update, so it is the original XP that was installed in 2002, no Service Packs.

Thanks
Dave

Evening all,

I'm having a weird issue concerning Windows 7 Home Premium, running SP-1, 64-Bit Edition. To fully explain what's happening, please note that I will state everything that happened leading up to the issue to better portray my problem.

This morning I woke up and the first thing I always do is switch on my PC to check email and to have a quick chat with my friend who lives In Australia before it get's late over there. My PC was on, running S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat via steam at the time, whilst still talking to my friend in Australia. Whilst typing to him, my system locked up mid sentence.

I left it for 15 minutes, got Coffee to wake up, still froze.. I had no choice to manually switch it off via the Power Button on the Tower. When I switch the tower back on, I had no Display on the screen. Now, this isn't actually the problem, I've fixed this kind of issue on a friends PC before and knew straight away my Memory Modules had just died. I removed the RAM, switched on, waited for the long Beep to confirm my Mobo was still breathing.. Placed one Module back in, black screen, tried the other etc etc.. Simple fix, get my spare RAM that I saved from an older build, stuck them in, powered up.

At this point I had to fix a corrupt winload.exe (Or similar) likely due to me having to turn the power off manually.. I hit the Recovery Console, let Window's do it stuff, corrupt file repaired, hello desktop..Just to confirm it wasn't a o... Read more

A:Solved: Windows 7 - Cannot Boot Windows/Safe Mode/Recovery/Disk

Hmmm, It seems I've just resolved my own issue.

I didn't realise but I seem to have replaced my 4GB (2x 2GB) with a mixed pair, although they both worked fine at first. I've removed one and replaced It with It's partner, now the PC seems to work fine. I'm typing this post from It, so, so far so good.

It was to my understanding Memory Modules worked fine in a mixed pair, the only downfall being they would be as fast as the slowest module?

Either way, issue resolved.

Hey guys I'm back here with a new problem, this time with my personal computer
I saw this post on the internet where you can install a facial recognation program so instead on pressing your password the computer uses its webcam to scan your face and than unlocks...

Im using windows 8 and now that i installed that programm and restarted my computer it wont turn on, and it doesnt show the unlocking screen after booting...

I think if this was a windows 7 or earlier i would simply have to boot it in safe mode and uninstall the programm and my problem would be solved... But as you all know, with time things get more complicated and it seems like Windows 8 doesnt have that feautre anymore...

Can anyone help me and tell me what to do???

A:Windows Xp Home Will Not Boot To "safe" Mod

Do you have Nero In CD? If so update it. It can cause the computer to not boot in safe mode but will boot normally.

If not run a chkdsk /r

If that don't work do a repair with your windows disk.

If you have upgraded to SP2 then you need a windows xp SP2 disk, here are instructions on how to "slipstream" your windows xp into a SP2 disk. www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone here has come across this type of error before.
My sisters laptop (Fujitsu Siemens) running on XP was working fine without any malware etc, then one morning she went to switch it on, and it would not boot up into windows xp. The screen switches on and displays the fujitsu siemens logo, then becomes unresponsive.
I have tried adjusting most parameters and booting in safe mode.
However I have not had any success with this.

When booting in safe mode, I receive the following error code:

From my previous thread below i have the same original issue on my desktop that I posted about on my laptop which was solved..Now I know how to fix the issue and get it working again on my desktop but I can't boot into Windows 8.1 at all or even safe mode..I have tried startup repair etc etc ....I also tried the bcdedit trick to boot directly into Safe mode with the command prompt option no dice either..I would rather not do a refresh or reset pc..Matter of fact I have tried both options and even with a clean 8.1 disk I can't ....It gives me the error message remove cd or media and restart no matter whether i have the disk on or not..Any other options here ? i think it might be a problem with the boot or something or its booting to the wrong device perhaps a USB ? i do have bitlocker on the drives if that helps at all and when i got to do a startup repair it asks for my key and i obv have it on other media which is my usb which won't read the key from it anymore..I enter it manually....

Hi

I have Windows XP Home Version 2002 with SP 3 running on a Toshiba Satellite M35X-S349 laptop. At some point, the computer ceased being able to boot into Safe Mode using the F8 key during the boot sequence. I can get into Safe Mode using SAFEBOOT, but I was warned by the HJT team when dealing with a malware issue not to use that method if malware is suspected (they didn't say why, but they're the experts). F8 does bring up the selection screen and when Safe Mode is selected, it starts to load the files and drivers it needs, but after the screen has scrolled through a couple dozen files, the sequence stalls with agp440 as the last entry showing on the list. I have to kill the computer with the "off" switch to get out of it. There is no BSOD, it just stalls and does not continue to load the drivers. I researched this on the net and found that quite a few others seem to have had this problem and that it may have something to do with one of the updates Microsoft sent out. But I did not understand how to fix it. It was complicated and involved registry editing, which scares me. I was hoping someone on the forum has written a script that can be run to fix this, or at least can provide step by step instructions that I can follow so I can fix it without messing up my computer.

Thanks

FMM

Hi all,
ok when I turn the laptop on I get the usual black screen for a second, then the window offering to open in recovery console or windows ex media centre appers ( more on this later, this screen was added after I had some problems before). Any I let the computer boot up normally and it goes to a black screen saying something along the lines of "we apologize for the inconvenience, but windows did not start sussesfully, a recent hardware or software change may have caused this. If your computer stopped responding, restated unexpectedly or was shut down to protect your files choose the last know configureation...."

Now I have 4 options. Safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt or ( last know good configuration) windows start up. Now I have tried all the combination and the results are the same for each. (FYI there is a 30 count down on this screen). So as the next step is for the computer to try to start up again, I get the windows logo page with the blue bar timer thingy, but then it goes through the same steps as above and takes me back to the page with the 4 options! As there is a 30 second timer here the computer is in an iterative loop.

However I can open the computer under "microsoft windows recovery console" when I do the I get taken to a page saying " recovery console provides system repair and recovery functionality"

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening.

I have a problem with my computer.

My problem is like this...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sro-La71mXM
but after the Windows is loading.. it's stopped and it directs me to the Startup Repair.

"It wouldn't repair my computer automatically."

I tried everything in the Startup Repair..
I also tried repairing my computer...

1. System Restore - "No restore points have been created on your computer's system drive.
2. System Image Recovery - "Windows cannot find a system image on this computer."
3. I really don't know what Windows Memory Diagnostic do so..
4. I tried following the tutorial of using Command Prompt with endless startup repair.. Making a mybackup. I forgot the name of the tutorial.

I can't even go to Safe Mode or going to the Last Known Good Configuration..

The PC is only sent to me by my uncle in America. It's a Lenovo PC.. and sadly.. I am not sure if the disk to Windows 7 is here... since the PC is sent here in the Philippines with Windows 7 already.. (Sorry for my grammar)

Please help me. Thank you very much.

I know what the problem is. I know how to fix it, of course i cant fix it if my Windows XP Media Edition will simply not boot. The problem is in ntoskrnl.exe. When I try to load windows in safe mode it doesn't get past that file, and of course that being the first file that it loads, it doesn't get anywhere. I had a recovery disk, but it wont recover so it's useless. I have the original Windows disk and loaded it temporarily onto an extra hard drive I had and then tried to make a boot disk from it but it only gives me a command prompt with nothing useful.

I am going to try and get a hold of a Linux boot up disk so that way i can get into it without having to load Windows, but that might take away because i have to track down My teacher that has one. What I want to know if there is other way that I can try.

A:Windows will not boot - even in Safe Mode

If you have the original Windows XP CD, why not boot from it and run the repair option to restore the corrupted file?
Put the XP CD in your computer and boot from the CD. When requested, press ENTER to INSTALL XP.
- NOW it will ask you if you would like to repair XP. Select YES.

This will appear to be a normal install of Windows XP (it will look almost
exactly the same as when you installed it the first time), but it's not.
None of your files will be deleted. Windows XP is just refreshing the
drivers, etc. that it installed on it with clean copies.

Hi. Thanks for reading my post.I am using Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600), Service Pack 3.I am trying to run some virus scanners in safe mode, but I am unable to boot in safe mode. I even followed the steps outlined in the guide posted here on Bleeping Computer. First, I tried using the System Configuration Utility, by typing in msconfig in Run. Strangely, there was no boot tab. I then reboot my computer, hit f8, but instead a screen comes up giving me the option of which drive I would like to boot first. I have three drives in total, two hard drives, and one dvd rom. Maybe it has to do with the bios? My motherboard is an ASUS M3N78-VM, BIOS version: 08.00.14. I hope the information I have provided is sufficient enough for you to assist me with my issue. If you require more information please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your time.

Why do you want to boot into safe mode?

FWIW: If you get two boot options for XP...then you've attempted two installs...or you have two installs.

Why don't you try beginning at the beginning...and tell us what you think is wrong with your system and why you are hot to run AV from safe mode?

I have a Dell desk top pc that is only one year old. The problem I am having is that I can only boot up windows ( xp home addition) in safe mode. If I try to boot up normally it just continues to try and nothing else will happen. I have no idea what is going on or what has caused it. I have already tried to set the computer back in time hoping this would eliminate the problem but it did no good. If anyone has ever seen this and can help me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Hello,

I can Boot into safe mode. But when I login in to regular windows it freezes after the background comes up.

The only thing that shows is the background and the mouse. No Start Bar, No Right Click, No Actions with different keyboard key shortcuts.... only have to hard reboot.

Also I read the Boot XP and I dont get any errors. P.S. this is XP Home.

Thank you in advance.

A:Can Boot into Safe Mode but not windows

In Safe Mode, right click on the C drive in Explorer and go Properties > Tools > Check Now (under Error Checking). Check both boxes then click "Start Now". A message will pop up saying that Error Checking will run after you restart the computer. Restart the computer and Error Checking will run automatically after the restart. After it?s finished it will restart into Windows automatically.
