Flip 3D Windows - ZOOM

Q: Flip 3D Windows - ZOOM

i really like the flip 3d feature of win7, but i still find it is hard to read the contents of what is showed... to be really useful.. i'd like to be able to zoom in a bit more on the 3d flip so i can tell 1 outlook message from another a bit better (w/out straining)...

Is there any way to zoom in the camera perspective of the flip 3d? There must be a setting somewhere that governs this graphic setting.

Preferred Solution: Flip 3D Windows - ZOOM

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I installed some new camcorder software which rebooted the system. But after the Windows start-up screen, the screen just goes BLACK and the system is unresponsive. Hello mallen,

Right click on the desktop, and create a new shortcut.

The location of this shortcut will be rundll32.exe DwmApi #105

Name the shortcut what ever you like.

With your new shortcut on the desktop, right click it and select Properties

In the Properties window, make sure that the shortcut tab is selected, then click on Change Icon...
in the change Icon box type in explorer.exe, pick the Flip3D icon > OK > Apply.

Right click your new shortcut again and select Pin To Taskbar

Delete the shortcut on the desktop and click that button on the taskbar!

Or you can download it here (Note - you'll need to unblock it in the properties box)

Hope this helps

EDIT: Are you trying to do this in Windows XP or Windows 7?

Yeah. Really weird. You all know the Graphic Rotation option available on Intel Video chipsets? Well, i was typing along, and suddenly my screen want blank. So i was like WTH? Then the screen came back to life..... Sideways. So, after straining my neck trying to maneuver the cursor to my desktop, i set my monitor straight, and went back to work, thinking it was a fluke, then it did it to me again. Then it dawned on me that whenever i press an arrow key, the screen flipped in said direction! Down for Upside down, Left for sideways left, right for sideways right, and up for normal. I need my arrow keys so that i can effectively type, since i use them as an alternative for backspace when i need to fix an error, and for scrolling through webpages and such. Is this a really stupid feature that i can turn off? [Banging head on Desk]

Hey all,

I have a desktop PC with two hard drives: a 500 gigger with Win 7 Pro x64 installed on it, and a 40GB drive with XP Pro installed. I recently was trying to delete and merge my 100MB System Reserved partition with my primary Win 7 partition, but I didn't do it right, and Windows 7 wouldn't boot. Fortunately, I was able to fix the issue by booting into my XP install and using Partition Wizard to recover the deleted partition. However, it was marked as unallocated space, so I had to mark it as active, and then run Startup Repair so that Windows Recovery Environment could rewrite the files to the new System Recovery partition. It worked, and Windows 7 was just the way it was before I started fiddling with it.

Here's the problem: now XP won't boot! It gives me the "NTLDR is missing" message, and then won't boot. After I restart, it simply ignores the drive and goes right to my 7 install. Well I ran an install on XP, without reformatting, but then XP would boot, and 7 wouldn't. I ran Startup Repair to fix 7, and now 7 boots, and XP doesn't, and so it goes. What is going on here? Do I need to perform a complete, clean install of XP? I still have my files on there, so it doesn't look like anything is wiped. I tried booting up from my XP install disc, but there is no option to hit "R" to repair the partition or run the recovery console. Is there any way that I can make the two drives boot together again as they did before?

A:Windows 7 and XP boot loader flip flopping

Great news! I finally found a solution to my drive issue! It took me several hours of nonstop marathon troubleshooting, but perseverance really pays off! I could go on for pages describing everything I tried, but for the sake of simplicity, I'm going to just explain the winning moves. I downloaded EasyBCD, and set up the bootloader so that both Windows 7 and XP could boot in harmony. Unfortunately, I was still getting errors when I tried to boot into XP. So what I basically did was boot up from my XP install disc, launch the Recovery Console, and executed FIXBOOT. This fixed the XP partition, but now 7 wouldn't boot, and it was basically ignored by the bootloader.

So then I booted from my 7 repair disc (it's a damn good thing I have all these discs lying around!) and ran Startup Repair. After it fixed the boot sector, 7 booted fine, but now the reverse was true: XP was ignored. This is what I meant when I titled my post a flip flop! However, with the boot sectors now repaired with XP, all I had to do was add XP as an entry to my EasyBCD bootloader, and now I can select which drive I'd like to boot at startup, without any problems at all!

This is a unique situation, because previously - when everything was working - I would boot into either 7 or XP depending on which I had set to boot first in the BIOS. There was no bootloader to prompt me on a choice: both installations worked, I just had to specify which one I wanted to boot from the BIOS boot menu. In some ways, this ... Read more

G'day people!

Like many others here, I've experienced the situation where Windows Update point-blank refuses to update, and returns the generic 0x8007370B error code.

Microsoft's help relating to this code is woeful to say the least; thankfully a bit of "Google-fu" has led me here.

I've run (and re-run) the SURT and the various Windows Update FixIt and Hotfix tools from Microsoft, with no success.
I've even tried their method to reset the the Windows Update sub-system to no avail.

From following the diagnostic instructions posted in other threads, it has become apparent that I too have been the victim of bit-flip errors, as evidenced in the CheckSUR.log file included below.

I heard that Windows 8 includes a new feature called Semantic zoom. Is it possible to play with this feature if I install Windows 8 Ultimate and by using mouse keys.

I want to know whether this zoom feature only works with touch devices.

A:Semantic zoom in Windows 8

Hello Windowsguy, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Not sure mouse keys would work with Semantic Zoom.

The Semantic Zoom interaction is performed with the pinch and stretch gestures (moving the fingers farther apart zooms in and moving them closer together zooms out), or by holding the Ctrl key down while scrolling the mouse scroll wheel, or by holding the Ctrl key down (with the Shift key, if no numeric keypad is available) and pressing the plus (+) or minus (-) key.

If you like, the links below can help give more details and information about Semantic Zoom.

Does anyone know how to manipulate the modern UI zoom feature in windows 8.1 ? This either by script or by regkeys?

Some more details about the problem I have :
14"laptop with Full HD monitor (1080p) -> windows decides that de default zoom behaviour should be 150%...

Now I have found how to counter it in the desktop and desktop Application (add regkey : DesktopDPIOverride) there I can set the value to -2 and it will be 100% zoom and the user can still change it.
Now the ModernUI and Lockscreen (not start screen) don't follow this zoom. To change this you need to go to pc settings - pc and device - display. and there at the bottom you can change the zoom from default to smaller. What I would like is to modify this
behaviour so that the default becomes what It should be small. (the default value it has when you have a 700p pannel of the same size)
This is quite urgent and I hope someone got an answer on this... I hate how windows forces a laptop to look like a tablet :/
Thank you !

I'm running a Toshiba 1905-S301 laptop (2 gig speed, 1 gig mem, 300 gig hd) with Windows 7 (32 bit) I thought I'd try the Zoom 4411 wireless-n USB adapter. It works great and I have the advertised transfer speed (54) for using on a USB 1.1 port.

My problem happens when I shut down Windows when the adapter is plugged in. A few seconds after the normal shutdown sequence begins I get a blue screen showing a system minidump. It never goes into shutdown, but instead reboots and brings up Windows 7 again with the failure noted as an unexpected shutdown sequence. If I pull the adapter and then go for a shutdown the process takes longer than usual (over a minute vice 15 seconds), but it eventually completes the shutdown and doesn't reboot on its own. Nothing appears to not work after the reboot and I can reacquire a network connection with the Zoom device any time I want.

Booting and shutting down with the adapter never installed is normal. An interesting failure, but one I'd like to eliminate.

I particularly like the way the Mac OSX does it. where you hold the command key and scroll your mouse. it makes things to easy and you don't have to worry about monitor space, easy to turn off and on. I hope to look for something just like that for windows.

Last night, somehow my zoom was changed. My start menu used to have only about 4 rows and now there are six rows and the tiles are now all much smaller. Generally everything is smaller and a new registry entry has appeared in

Called 'Layout_MaximumAvailibleHeightCells' with a hexadecimal value of 6. I know this is something to do with my problem as I have seen a few tutorials on changing the amount of rows. If I change it, it reverts back to 6 again when I log in to my account. I have tried changing the resolution, but it was the same before the sizes changed and as I have Eyefinity I can't put it down as that would make it repeat on all three screens, and the resolution is at its maximum. It is not to do with the 'Change the size of all items'. It applies the login screen as well.

TL;DR Everything is smaller, and nothing to do with resolution/accessibility, nor the AMD Catalyst Control Panel.

Hi (and welcome to the forums)

Why not try a run of System Restore? It usually works fairly well for getting settings back to previous values, and it doesn't bother your personal files.

The steps below are for computers running any version of Windows 8 except Windows 8 RT (which mostly is used on the Microsoft tablets called "Surface" ... ["Surface Pro" tablets run Windows 8 Pro]. System Restore isn't available for Windows RT.

I'll assume that your computer isn't running Windows RT, and is running Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro.

To restore your PC using System Restore

1. From a touchscreen, swipe in from the right edge of the screen to produce the "charms" bar, and then tap the Search magnifying glass icon. (Or, if you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down to produce the "charms" bar, and then click Search.) Enter Recovery in the search box, tap or click Settings, and then tap or click Recovery.

2. Tap or click Open System Restore, and follow the prompts. Pick a restore point from before the unwanted changes.

If the changes came about without any action on your part, you might also want to scan for malware, as its presence can cause all sorts of unpredictable behavior. Check in Device Manager, too, in case you might have a device (especially your display or graphics/video card) whose driver is generic rather tha... Read more

OK, I've checked the other threads re: Zoom Browser and have tried all the tricks and ideas, but no success. First I kept getting an error message about not being registered and now it's the wrong string or something. I've d/l'ed the newest version and it DOES NOT work. Shut down my firewall: no success. I've cleaned out my registry, clean boot, more uninstalls and re-installs and looked on line for more fixes. Even tried my other programs to see if anything else didn't work. Nope! EVERYTHING else is fine! Also, all of Canon's answers I checked into don't work. And I've also seen that I'm not the only one.

I have NO idea what the problem could be. It DID work fine until I received the latest MS updates. (I'm HIGHLY considering NEVER again receiving any more updates from Microsoft as I tend to spend more time fixing things after the updates than the updates are worth. Everything from CHKDSK going into "lets start at every boot" mode to other programs getting glitchy. (Do they even test the updates before uploading them?)

Anyway, I don't want to do a system restore because I've recently d/l'ed some important programs and - like I had to do once in the past - I don't want to explain why I have to re-register the programs. (Can't they tell it's the same computer????)

Is there a way I can

1. Chance the hotkey from Windows key + Ctrl + Tab to Alt + Tab (I am willing to use 3rd party, and have autohotkey).

2. Chance the speeds, zoom etc of the flip 3D.

I use <Hold>Windows key<hold> + Tab
And hold windows key while clicking tab
which would be easier

Except I don't know how to change what your looking for, there is probably a registry setting.

Q: Flip 3D

Hello, Everyone-

Does anyone know what the executable (.exe) for Vista's Windows Flip 3D program is? I am trying to map it onto my mouse using hotkeyp, but hotkeyp (version 4.2) apparently requires an .exe extension, not just the .lnk (link) that I can find using the Vista search utility for Flip 3D.

Thank you all!

Hey, Everyone-

I figured out my own question. Here is how:

Click "Add" button in hotkeyp.
For Command field, type: C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe
For Parameters field, type: dwmapi #105
Choose a location for your directory.
Check to have it run automatically when Windows starts.
Voila! Enjoy!

One thing I miss from my years of using windows vista is the flip 3d thing that made it look like a rolodex when you had several windows open and wanted to switch windows. Now that I have a computer with windows 8.1 I noticed there is no way to do that on here.

There are a few options which you can try from the taskbar.
Right click on the taskbar and the following options will be listed.
Cascade Windows
Show Windows Stacked
Show Windows Side by Side

I used to be able to use the Flip 3D function by using alt-tab to cycle through windows, or by clicking the "Switch between windows" button on the taskbar. Now when I do either of these, a rectangle comes up in the middle of the screen showing what windows I have open (which I believe is similar to XP's alt-tab, but I'm not sure). If anyone has any ideas on how to make these bring up the Flip 3D feature again, I'd appreciate the help.

Hello Gnom, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Double check to make sure that you have the Windows Aero color scheme selected. Also check the items in the red Warning box in the tutorial below to see if any may apply.

Flip 3D

Hope this helps,
