My Comp keeps crashing and not restarting.

Q: My Comp keeps crashing and not restarting.

I've recently got a Packard Bell IXTREME X6618 UK
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @2.34 GHZ
Memory : 4.00 GB
System Type: 64-bit.

I've only had the computer for around about 4 months.
So it's fairly new. In the past week-2 weeks. The PC has been turning itself off randomly at any time. It only seems to switch itself off when i run a gaming program like : L4D or CSS etc.
I only last about 5-10 mins in the games until it usually turns itself off and doesn't restart.
I've run scanners and nothing is in my computer.
It has increasingly become to frustrate me as i just want to game with my friends online without having any issues.

I have to say that sometimes it runs perfectly fine for an hour or two then turns itself off, but that's only rare.
I've un-installed norton/symantec off the pc as it came out of the certain amount of months i had to use it period and i know it can cause problems.

I don't know what else could be going wrong. I have moved the computer about a few times but i've never hit it or moved it about harshly for anything inside to go wrong.

I hope to hear back asap. Thank you for your support and time.

Edit: I am also wondering if it has anything to do with my Windows Vista. I am not entirely sure of the problem, so i posted in this thread for the meantime.

Preferred Solution: My Comp keeps crashing and not restarting.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello there, I recently upgraded my comp by replacing mobo, graphics, ram, cpu
pretty much the lot except for my hdd and cd drive.
the problem is now it wont boot and keeps restarting, it gets to the windows logo and then goes to a blue screen for half a sec then restarts. i have windows 7 and even the repair tool doesnt help with the problem.
ether my hdd has had it (i have had it for a while now) or there is a issue with my new ram?
could this be a compatability issue or a fault?

i have tried the windows 7 repair tool but comes up saying cant fix problems. tried restarting from a earlier time, and iv also tried to boot from the windows 7 disk but it just freezes so i can boot or install.

can anyone help me try and get this new beast of a comp up and running ???

A:Upgraded comp but now comp keeps restarting

First you need to turn off automatic restart. Go to Control Panel, System, Advanced System settings, Start Up and Recovery, settings and un-check automatically restart

I am experiencing problems with my windows XP professional laptop.

I have a HP NX9010 laptop that keeps restarting
I have tried booting it in safe mode but it continues to restart once it reaches the windows XP load screen.
I have also tried running "last good configuration" with the same result.
I decided to turn off the auto restart on system failure feature and see if that works without any luck either, however I managed to get a blue screen with the following error message.

STOP:c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x0000034 (0x00000000 0x00000000)
The system has been shut down.

I installed AVG Free 8.0 and restarted my computer.
after doing that I tried to register the product but it wouldn?t let me register so I thought that my AVG download might be corrupt and decided to uninstall and reinstall a fresh copy, however ever since I uninstalled avg and restarted the computer I have been unable to reach the windows log on screen.

I have used Ultimate Boot CD to scan the hardware but it is all clean. There are no problems.

Your help is greatly appreciated

A:Comp keeps restarting

You need to replace "winlogon.exe" with a copy from the WinXP CD

If you have a floppy drive you could copy it from the CD to a floppy. Then boot up with Ultimate Boot CD and put "winlogon.exe" in

Otherwise you will need an XP installation CD to replace it. Borrow one if you don`t have one

How to replace it from XP installation CD
Configure your PC to boot from CD if it isn't already set up that way. (You may need to enter the BIOS to configure the PC to boot from the CD.)

Start your PC with the XP Setup CD in the drive. When you see the "Press any key to boot from CD..." prompt, do so and let the CD-based boot process begin.

When the Recovery Console option is offered ("Press R to start the Recovery Console"), do so. You may be asked which Windows installation to enter, in which case type the number of the Windows installation you wish to work on (usually "1").

When prompted, enter the Administrator's password for that Windows installation. If you did not set a password just press ENTER

At the command prompt, type
copy d:\i386\winlogon.ex_ c:\windows\system32\winlogon.exe

Be sure to put the spaces in

This is driving me nuts. I'm using my computer for work purposes and can't get anything done because it keeps restarting. I get a little message that says:

"This system is shutting down. The System process system32\services.exe terminated unexpectedly. Status code 204" and it gives me a 60 second countdown, then restarts. I know I can delay it with the shutdown -a command but even when I do that it just locks up in 60 seconds and personally I'd rather it just restarts.

I've looked at the dump file (I've got it set to use the large one) but I'm not expert and I honestly can't tell what it's saying...it looks to me like it's a file called netevent.dll that keeps shuttind down and causing the process services.exe to quit.

I've attached the system logs that were flagged as warnings/errors and I've attached the dump file.

Any thoughts? I can't find the culprit...and when I do I don't know what to do to fix it (I heard you're not supposed to replace the netevent.dll). Ugh.

A:Services.exe keeps restarting my comp

one more thing...

Forgot to mention...

Ran all kinds of utilities from spyware progs to things like mightyPC or whatever and of the dozens of different scans they found nothing. Not even the malicious software removal tool. My comp seems to be clean, I'm thinking the error is some sorta conflict.

i posted once before about my computer restarting when i believed it had overheated.....well i got the fans and the heatsinks and put an air conditioner in the room and it still does it.......here's the thing i've noticed tho

i've got a
1.8 ghz amd athlon xp with 512mb DDR ram
now my motherboard doesn't have manual jumpers for changing the cpu speed..it has to be done in the bios.......when i set my proccessor on 133/133 it reads my cpu as a 1800+ proccessor but my comp restarts constently........now if i lower the settings to 100/133 it reads it as a 1150 proccessor but my computer doesn't restart itself when i play games.........does this mean i have a faulty CPU or that the CPU isn't really a 1.8? or is it something else?

Post the temps and voltages from the BIOS.

Have you cleaned the inside of the case including fans and vents with a can of compressed air?

Issue could be caused by overheating. A failing PSU could also cause the issue. Wattage is also

So I messed around by trying to start it in safe mode, ect and now this screen pops up showing different startup options. One of them is "last known good configuration that worked" and there is safe mode and normal. No matter which one i choose it will start loading xp (w/ the little bar at the bottom" and then a blue screen w/ white writing will pop for a split second and the computer will restart, and the process repeats. I have my xp installation/recovery disk so how do I reinstall xp? The blue screen flashes so quick that I cant read it. Do i push shift+F5 to get a command promp up? The computer is almost brand new. My comp was having issues with crashing and rebooting. The first window I would see when it restarted said something about installing express bus (flashed really quick and was never able to see the whole thing) I went to asus and downloaded a bios update and found out I had to download the asus updater. I did so, used it and when it deleted my bios and put in the new one, it said that it basically didn't work (can't remember the exact words) I retried and the updater started to crash before I could do anything with it. so... And I think this is where I screwed everything up.. I decided to restore my system to just before I installed the updater... Now the computer lights and fans come on but it does not boot up.. I have a feeling that I basically deleted my bios and thus the comp doesn't know what to do when power is applied... I don't know what to do now.... Help me Please lol

A:comp restarting, tried to fix and now doesn't boot

Make an AVG rescue disk (available online) from another computer and see if that can be booted.

Otherwise, go to your local computer repair shop (not chain) and see what they recommend. Local independent stores are usually very friendly and often give free help, and if they do any work they will charge a reasonable rate.

Also try booting off a different hard drive and see what that does.

A:Comp Keeps Freezing And Restarting And Beeping!

Yep, you have a bugger there. However, I doubt that's the source of your problem. I would like to see if any other startups are involved. To do this, I need to see another type of log please. Go here and download Silent Runners.vbs to a new folder on your Desktop (Clicking the the download link works if you use IE. If you use FireFox, rightclick on the link and choose "Save Link As") and run it. It generates a log too. It takes a minute or two and it will notify you with a popup when your log is ready (make sure you wait for the popups please) Please post the information back in this thread too (you may need to make a couple of posts). If your antivirus program queries the script, allow it to run. It's not malicious.

A:BSOD while restarting comp fresh

Read the documentation that came with your computer. Your PC should have a factory-installed, hidden recovery partition & you should be able to start the recovery process by pressing a certain key (or keys) as soon as you turn on the PC.

This is a factory recovery which will over-write all the data currently on the C: drive with a fresh installation that it had when the PC was new.

Hello. I'm here to solve several problems on my computer. I follow the guidelines like read before posting log.

From that I deleted...
- Viewpoint Manager
- Viewpoint

And I also had Viewpoint Toolbar, which I wasn't sure if I should delete it (since it wasn't on the site), so i didn't delete it.
However, I didn't delete Download Accelerator Plus because I needed it to download a game.

The Following Programs to help me get rid of malware/spyware/virus/etc.
- Avast AntiVirus (updated)
- Spyware Doctor
- Registry Mechanic
- CleanUp!
- Spybot Search & Destroy

Due to my Avast Antivirus, I managed to find and deleted 3 trojans (hopefully) from my computer.

The Problems
#1 - When I try to shut down or restart my computer, there tends to be pop ups to tell me if I should End Now or Cancel. Usually it would be some weird name like random numbers/letters (Usually these ones and it's annoying), IE. 63adf67adf58. Or it can be like Nvidia TwinView, or other stuff.
#2 - There is this issue I have been having with Mixman Studio. I installed a Mixman Studio from a website (which wasn't from the original site -- i thought it was a mirror site) and I can't delete it from my Add/Remove Programs. Everytime I do it, it shows up, then it speeds up and it's finished. However, it still shows up on my Add/Remove Programs still. I tried deleting it several times and it still shows up (I even restarted my computer). Also, I tried to go to the setup.exe and delete from ... Read more

And is it possible to delete the ones that has a file missing? Would that be okay or would it affect me computer?

hi and thanks for ur time reading this

so here the story,
i installed (after formating ofc) a new windows 7 32Bit ultimate on a lenovo G510 machine,
installed all the latest drivers from lenovo website, and updated windows with the latest update.

the problem:
when i restart or shutdown the machine the screens turn off but the led + laptop fan are still working for around 9-10min, after this amount of time the computer shows Bluescreen (which is not in the minidump folder)and restart it self automaticly. from what i remmber couple of month ago it as the same issue, thats why i formated and installed a fresh new os

here is what i did,
sfc /scannow
chkdsk /f /r /x
used hd sentinel - came clean 100%/100% 50C
memtest (from windows) did 3 rounds - came clean
updated the latest bios driver for this computer
did a clean boot (disabled all the startup program)

i tried to install 2 microsoft hotfix kb977307 and kb977186 but both of them showd an erro "the update is not applicable to your computer"

i had 2 bsod error

1, irql not less or equal (some time its happening i dont have the minidump of it cuz i formated the disk)
2, DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (this one happen all the time when restarting or shutdown the comp, but it leaves no minidump) 0x0000009f

ntkrnlpa.exe and halmacpi.exe showing in red in bluescreenview.

its a brand new OS install so no way Virus or rootkit could got in.

i attached the dmp to this thread

thanks alot hope u... Read more

I would really appreciate some assistance with this, this one really has me stomped because it could be so many different things.

My comp is new, few weeks old, Quad core Q6600,2GB RAM, Saphire radeon x1550 Graphics card.

My PC seems to die at random times with either straight reboot or blue screen with distortions on it and im pretty sure there was a constant beep.

my PSU is a 550w, im not sure of the make though. Voltages are from sensorview.

+3.3V: 0.00V
+5V: 4.92V

I don't understand what these valtages mean but it seems MAYBE the PSU may be struggling??

Another thing which is pretty strange is internal temp reading on speed fan of 102C though all the other tempretures seem fine. All have a down arrow and all below 40C.

I have turned off automatic restart though at about the exact moment of my last restart im getting a TCPIP error in event viewer, which is also found all the way down my event viewer in system errors, the error reads: IP could not open the registry key for adapter TCPIP\Parameters\Adapters\NDISWANIP. Interfaces on this adapter will not be initialized. I don't think it would be this but I dont want to overlook anything.

One more thing, I somehow managed (it really did get stolen from another realm) to lose my mobo driver disc, I have gone through ASUS (my mobo) website and found the drivers and everything in device manager is ok apart from something in "other devices"... Read more

Hey guys, I had a BSOD while trying to restart my computer. Origin and JDownloader were still running but I chose to force close the programs for the computer to restart, I don't know if that had anything to do with the blue screen that happened afterwards but I thought I'd add that.

I downloaded the whocrashed program and it said that it was caused by ntfs.sys and a possible driver conflicting with it.

I already ran chkdsk /f and sfc /scannow, no problems with either of them.

System Specs:
-Windows 7 Professional x64 (OEM)
-6gb DDR3
-hardware is a little over 1 year old
-re-installed Windows about 4 months ago when my old hard drive died

Any help on this would be much appreciated!

A:BSOD while restarting comp, error 0x00000024

Welcome to Seven Forums.

Usual causes: Disk corruption, insufficient physical memory, Device driver, Indexing, Resident antivirus, backup, defrag programs, Disk/Drive failing/failure

One possible cause of this bug check is disk corruption. Corruption in the NTFS file system or bad blocks (sectors) on the hard disk can induce this error. Corrupted SCSI and IDE drivers can also adversely affect the system's ability to read and write to disk, thus causing the error.

Another possible cause is depletion of nonpaged pool memory. If the nonpaged pool memory is completely depleted, this error can stop the system. However, during the indexing process, if the amount of available nonpaged pool memory is very low, another kernel-mode driver requiring nonpaged pool memory can also trigger this error.

How much available space on your first partition, the 100 MB partition?
You should have about 290GB free space on your C drive.

I cant stand it anymore... Ever since I installed my new xfx 5870 I have been getting weird stuff. First, I was having BSOD's actual ones when playing games "WoW and mw2" while listening to music. I googled and fixed that, all I had to do was turn off the high def autio device driver from the gpu and it stopped. But, now a new problem is happening. It's driving me INSANE. So much that i've wiped and reinstalled windows 7 ult 64 bit 4 times already. I dont know what it is! I play a game, then the screen whole screen turns a color. Like, if i'm in a area on a game and theres a lot of orange the whole screen will turn orange for a second or two then the computer restarts.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000116 (0xfffffa8008c14010, 0xfffff88004867dc0, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000002). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 121209-24398-01.

I get that all the time. Theres more as well... But, that seems to be the one that does it all I dont know =/

I've been getting a stop error message the past couple of days that restarts my computer. Once my computer has restarted and I load back into Windows I get the "Windows has encountered a serious problem." So I send the report and it loads a Microsoft page that said it was a "stop error" thing. Just this morning I had to reset my computer about three or four times before I got it to work. The last time I had to go to the boot menu but I didn't know what to do there, so when I exited and restored to default settings I was able to get it to work again. However I also think now that if the wheel from my computer chair just slightly hits my desktop (which is on the floor) it will restart my computer. The other times when my computer restarted itself I didn't hit it, it was the stop error message. Is there a way to fix this stop error message that forces my computer to restart?

When i turn on my PC, it keeps restarting itself...will go as far as checkdisk, or the desktop (for a brief second, not long enough to push 2 keys) then go back and restart itself. I have to shut it down manually. When i was able to see the "start in ? mode", I would push "start in safe mode", then a bunch of 'keys' or 'registry looking' stuff runs itself. Then i have to manually shut it down again. Any help is greatly appreciated....thanks....bethl

It sounds like a heat prob. Has one of your fans stopped? Try opening side panel and trying. If not boot from os disk and go repair consol route.

A:updates not configured correctly and comp keeps restarting by itself.

nightmare with vista is this,, wait till you actually get to desktop, when you get there go to windows updates..control panel, see updates you will get big list of failed updates, u can either get rid of them all and start over or

double click desktop clock to sync pc with internet.....look at big list of updates (usually all are ticked) untick them all then tick just 1 smallest you can see and try install that one, if works (usually does) as you got 1 installed others should be easier, suggest you do them all manaully, takes time but no grief then
