Since a few weaks I have an extremly bad Wifi connection with my Yoga. Other devices still have good connection to my router. How can I fix this?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

Hi. I'm trying to replace my Broadcom wifi card with a better one. I'm not an expert in this kind of things, but I have read that I could have a better internet with another wifi card instaled...I searched few days on amazon (uk) and ebay, to find a suitable one, but...it seems to be more complicated than I though...Could anyone, please, provide a link from where I can buy one (as I have read, must be IBM/Lenovo compatible) I would much apreciate! I am the owner of a brand new Lenovo Yoga 720, 13" screen, and the internet is pretty slow over wifi. I am getting download speeds 2x or 3x higher on my iPhone and on my wife's Macbook Air, and not sure why that would be the case as all devices are connected to the same wifi network. Anyway, any help would be much appreciated from the community. I just bought a new Lenovo YOGA 500 Intel® HD Core? i5 Processor, 8Gb RAM, 1Tb Storage, 15.6 inch Full HD Touchscreen 2-in-1 Laptop. I'm yet to take it out of the packaging (thank heavens) before I noticed on the website I bought it from under Features of the Laptop it states:  Wifi Enabled: NDoes this mean there's no WiFi capabilities on the laptop? Secondly, after perusing this forum, I've discovered the laptop seems to have a WiFi issue, the question thus is would any of you with the same laptop advise I keep it? Thanks

Hi, I posted here awhile ago and no one has been able to help with the issue. I have a problem with my Yoga 700 where I have to constaltly disconnect/reconnect to my wifi network--typically when I am using multiple tabs or browsing while streaming. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling my WIFI driver and have had no success. How can I fix this?! thanks

Hey yall, so I just downloaded Windows 8.1 and suddenly I cannot connect to my university's wifi anymore. It isnt an internet problem per say, because i can still connect with an ethernet cable, but it just is not picking up any wifi! And i dont think the wifi is the issue because I can still get it on my phone. PLEASE HELP I HAVE FINALS coming up and need to be able to Use Wifi!!!! Thanks in advance!!!

Open Device Manager and uninstall the WLAN 802.11 driver "Place a check on the Delete driver software for this device ". The hit on scan for Hardware Changes.
Delete the driver again until it does not show you a check box for deleting driver software then Restart the computer.
 
Now install this
Intel WLAN Driver for Windows 8.1
Then try reconnecting again.

Hello!Recently I've changed the thermal compound on the CPU of my Lenovo Yoga 2 pro. Before the change there were no problems. But now I have 2:- Wifi isn't working. Network adapter isn't detected by the laptop. It just doesn't show up. Funny thing is that bluetooth works!- Right USB isn't working, no idea why.Everything else seems okay. Any solutions? Tips? Hi, so i got a problem. I got 2. wifi netwrok at home. Both working fine on other devices. But on yoga 910 is like this. I am conected to network 1 (n1) and when i tried to switch to network 2 (n2) i got yellow triangle and no internet connection and vice versa so yellow triangle when try to connect from N2 to N1. Only way to get it work is to disabel wifi adapter under device manager (and right after enable again)and then right click on wifi icon and do troubleshoot wifi.. I got this problem since i set up the second wifi network but since there is no problem on other devices i assume that  is someting worng with my pc.

Hi, I have installed Windows 10 Home within the last 3-4 months and I have been experiencing several issues. The one of concern is connecting to certain wifi networks. Hi, Resolving wifi issues with the Y2P is a hit and miss exercise. But do try the usual suspects.Regarding your home router, in what bands does it work? 2,4ghz, 5ghz, both? Since the 7260N only works in 2.4ghz you can try in the wifi network adapter settings (device manager) forcing the 2.4ghz only (not in auto).And since you?ve got the network card options open, do check if:uAPSD Support - disabled802.11n Channel Width for band 2.4GHz | 20Mhz802.11n Channel Width for band 5.2GHz | 20Mhz802.11n Mode | VHTFat Channel Intolerant | Disabled (allows 40MHz operation)Roaming Aggressiveness | Lowest (disables roaming, see Intel support site)Transmit Power | MediumWireless Mode | 802.11b/gDisable in power option the ?allow Windows to turn off device? Extra option you can do, changing your WLAN settings channel on your router: try changing to channel 1, 6 or 11 (not auto). I noticed a big improvement with a channel forced on my router instead of auto, and this did indeed almost resolved all my issues at home. When away from home I?m still dependent on the provider?s router configuration, so can?t do much about that.

Hi My laptop is just 3 months old, has been working fine up till  now. All of a sudden it won't connect to wifi, or it will for a second then go off again. Yesterday all options for wifi went completely missing, in the toolbar on the bottom right hand side, the icon for wifi had dissappearEd and when I went into settings,wifi settings had gone from there too. The icons are back now and I could connect to my wifi, but it says there is no Internet connection. There is Internet through the wifi though because I'm using my phone on the wifi!! I tried to disconnect from the wifi and economy again but it has been trying to connect to the wifi for the last 10 mins! I bought a third-party USB-C to ethernet adapter to test my internet speed and found that it is not much faster than if I use the wifi. I always thought that LAN speed is faster than Wifi? Here is my situation (read carefully): I never had wifi problems with my 1st gen Lenovo Yoga running Windows 8 64-bit. Always super fast wifi and 5 bars on the icon. One morning, I couldn't connect to my home wifi (unidentified network), but I had no problem on my Android phone. I called my Internet provider and they "separated" the 2.4GHz channel (made for further distances, but slower) and the 5GHz channel (for shorter distances, faster). From then on, I could see the 2.4GHz on my laptop, but not connect to it and I couldn't see the 5GHz.On my phone, I could see both. As I obviously suspected a problem with the Realtek RTL8723A network adapter on my laptop, I reinstalled the driver, which partly solved the problem, as I can now surf the Internet on the 2.4GHz, but still can't see the 5GHz.Plus, I only have 1 bar on the icon, even though I'm 2m from the router. Is there anything I could do to see both channels, just like on my phone, and be able to use the faster 5GHz channel? Thanks

I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 pro 1370 running Window 10 build 10586.104This is a fresh install less than one week old. I conducted a fresh install in an effort to solve a problem I have been having for over amonth now.With the WiFi network adapter enabled I am unable to move the laptop nor move the screen as this causes the entire system to freeze requiring a full reboot. Hi, I bought a brand new Lenovo Yoga 910 series laptop, costing a fortune. Its not even 20 days since I bought this laptop, I am seeing the wifi adaptor losing the connection within 5 mins of usage. Whats worse, it causing my wifi router to jam as well, and all of my other devices loses connection. I have few other devices, including a lenovo thinkpad, where i never faced any issues till date.  After some research I found out that the wifi adaptor in the lenovo yoga is Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4a  and it has lots of issues on Windows 10 and people are complaining on multiple forums about it since couple of years. Suprising that Lenovo nor Microsoft nor Qualcomm has not fixed it yet or I couldnt find a proper solution till now.  It is such a bad customer experience, that such a basic thing like wifi connectivity is not working properly on such a high end laptop. I feel I just made a bad decision of buying this waste device instead of a Mac book Pro. Hope someone from Lenovo fixes this for me or else I shall return this device.

Recently there was a Wifi Driver issue, which got resolved when the service guy came and replaced it, 6-8 weeks ago. After that my Wifi works fine but has a bit of a performance issue - It takes some time to identify Wifi Networks. If I switch on my bluetooth, the wifi performance degrades more, i.e. more time to identify network and the speeds of download/upload deteriorates a lot (A video in Youtube 720p quality is brought down to 144p).In addition it seems to take a lot of time for my bluetooth to identify a device. Does the Wifi and Bluetooth share the antennas? If so does this mean the antenna have a problem now?Is there a way to troubleshoot this? maybe by checking speed on Wifi and bluetooth.

I odn't have that model, but just in case what you can always try is to get the latest wireless driver, sometimes I have some issues with some older wifi drivers.
 
Check the support site and see if there is a newer driver for the wifi. Check your "WIndows Device Manager" and see the version of the driver you have installed for the wireless adapter.
 
I also like to test the wifi with different routers on some other networks just be sure that is not a local problem of my router too.
 
It is also good the check the maintenance manual of your model to see the cables and the antennas. I'm not sure if that is exactly your model, but it seems it was two antennas for the WAN network and 2 for the LAN. It does not specify anything about the bluetooth.

I reset the notebook with the One Key Recovery application.
The notebook has been reset but can not find the WIFI card. It disappeared, it seems that it does not exist. The ethernet icon appears in the bar below the windows and the only possibility is to create a VPN connection. I do not know how to do it ... restoring the notebook with one recovery should not have these problems

Hi Guys, I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 laptop. This is the second time I have had issues with the WiFi dropping out frequently.  The first time was when I first downloaded windows 10 - I downloaded a new driver from the Lenovo website and everything worked perfectly.  The last couple of months it has been playing up again. My phone and any other devices will be connected to the internet however my laptop will repeatedly disconnect from the internet, this happens a ridiculous amount of times everyday - and it's not just my home wifi! Im currently at my university library and it does the same thing. It just drops out randomly and says "not connected - no connects are available" I have to keep restarting my laptop for it to reconnect to the internet (I know that's probably not the best thing to do but it's the only thing that sometimes works). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver software, I've scanned for hardware changes and nothing comes up?? Has anyone got any ideas on anything else I could try?  Thank you all!

Hello, The WiFi adapter is the Intel Dual Band wireless-ac 3160 and the drivers are from October 2017, the Device Manager is showing the network card as working without issues and nothing is reporting any problems, yet I am unable to simply turn the WiFi ON. The operating system is Windows 10 and I have tried the following: - enabling the WiFi interface using the command prompt (says it is already enabled)- trying older drivers for the Intel Dual Band wireless-ac 3160 (still will not turn ON)- opening the laptop and disconnecting the two wires from the WiFi module, then reconnecting (still no difference)- disabling and then re-enabling the Wireless in BIOS (no difference)- loading default settings in BIOS (no difference)- installing Windows 8.1 from scratch (same problem)- re-installing Windows 10 (same problem)- installed all of the Lenovo utilities and Companions I could find (still nothing)- windows troubleshooting simply tells me to switch the WiFi ON using either a hardware switch (which does not exist on this notebook) or the software switch using the keyboard - I press the F7 for airplane mode and it says that it goes into that mode, then pressed again and it simply goes back to WiFi which is turned OFF and showing the red X What is interesting is that when I booted TAILS from a USB drive the WiFi worked without issues, so this is obviously a software problem. Any suggestions?

Hello, I recently bought a yoga 910-13ikb, and since day 1 I cannot get wifi connection, the troubleshooter shows that wifi doesnt have a valid ip configuration, so there's no internet.  i've tried with netsh winsock reset catalog, netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt, ipconfig /release , ipconfig /renew., also turning the antivirus and firewall off, I downloaded the latest update fron lenovo's page, and none of them make the wifi work.  other laptops and phones work well in the same wlan. can anyone help me with a solution for this problem?. thank you.

Can you please post the full model number of your Thinkpad Yoga 14?
Are you using Windows 10?
 
I may suggest you first to try to update the Wifi drivers and maybe some other of the system driver of you Yoga.
Here are my general tips:
 
1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers (use the full model number of your Thinkpad).
 
After that we can try a little bit more. For example I also like to test it on some other Wifi networks just to be sure it is not a compatibility issue with the Wifi Router.

Hi all. Nice to meet you. I have a Lenovo Yoga 720 and am noticing two issues.  First, whenever I am on Wifi, my connection will occasionally drop and restart. It is becoming a challenge especially during Skype calls and even simple tasks like browsing. My wifi appears to be OK because I have another PC and Mac that does not have any connectivity issues. Is there something I can do investigate and solve this issues?Moreover, I have connected my Microsoft Sculpt Mouse which had worked great on another PC's. While I can connect it with my Yoga, the connection frequently drops and takes a couple of seconds to re-establish itself. If anything, these issues have become a pain. Any suggestions/ideas on how to rectify the situation would be greatly appreciated!

HI all, I had bought Lenovo Yoga 3 tablet (2 GB RAM) 16 GB 8 inch) in Dec-2016 in Bangalore INDIA. Model Number:  LENOVO YT3-850M. Andriod Marshmellow - 6.0.1 There is a problem with WIFI. It keeps dropping regularly even though tablet is within a feet distance from the WIFI router.In the WIFI menu the router name comes but if i select nothing happens and you can see that the tablet is not connected to any WIFI. The only way to temporarly solve the issue is to restart the tablet but that too lasts maybe 1 hr before the WIFI connection goes away. I saw in another thread of this community where it was suggested to do factory reset. I have done that too but the issue still exists. I have another PC and 2 mobiles which connects to the same router. So there is no problem with the router  Any suggestions how to fix?  Thanks.

Hello, Recently my CEO had bought a Lenovo Yoga 910-13IKB. It came with win10 preinstalled. I had worked on it for about 10 minutes and than the problem showed up: our local WiFi network dissapeared. I immediatelly took my laptop and searched for WiFi networks but no there was no my SSID at all. Then I had restarted WiFi router and network showed Up, but as soon Yoga connected, same again no network. I googled for solution and I did uninstall EMC and Lenovo Utility but that did not resolved the problem. Then I had tried to uninstall all drivers and than download and install them again but still the problem is there. Wherever Yoga connects WiFi dies. I found that some routers recognize something like DDos attack and so I dissabled that option on routers but again problem is there. Please can u give me solution to this problem because my CEO thinks that I am not capable of doing my Job (IT technician/Network administrator). Best wishes Adis

Hi all, I am using a YOGA 92013IKB. Since I have installed this notebook the WiFi is not wirking stable. From time to time I lose connection to available WiFI's. I also tried different ones (home, office). Specaily I am recognize this behaviour when I am connect to external system by Citrix. If I use a cable connection the performance is perfect and stable. I do not get any kind of error message. Right now I am not sure if it is a windows issue (I am using Windows 10 Pro) or hardware / driver issue. Hey guys, Purchased a yoga 720 two months ago and in the beginning it would drop the WIFI connection maybe once a week. Over the last few days it's been dropping the WIFI connection every 5minutes or so.  After it drops it'll take some minutes to reconnect again unless I go to device manager and disable/enable the network adaptor. I've already tried updating the driver and no difference.I've already set the power plan for the network adaptor to 'maximum performance' and no difference. Surely there has to be a fix or something I can do? 

A:YOGA 720 constantly dropping WIFI connection.

Open up your Event Viewer and see if there are any WLAN errors. If there are a lot of them, then Windows update has probably wrecked something.
 
If that looks normal, download WiFi Scanner from the Windows store and see if one of your neighbors is interfering. If so, and you have a recent dual-band WiFi router, split the bands into different SSIDs, force the router to sit on a 5Ghz channel where there's no interference and force your 720 to connect to your router's 5GHz side only. 
 
If that's still an issue or you don't have a dual-band router, then start looking for things that interfere with WiFi, such as LED lighting, microwave ovens and so forth.

I need to know.   my router is a Actiontec from Verizon. it is not old but not new. Do the Lenovo yoga 700s just not work well with Actiontec?  it has never had the speeds i should have ..not even close and sometimes just crawls. Terrible experience.  Do you suggest i get a newer router?  Who out there has had issues with WIFI with their Lenovo.  NO one from lenovo can help me with this so please let me know your experience. Last year I had the laptop sent to Lenovo to replace my screen because my brightness would not change. Since then, the wifi adapter would "disappear*" randomly, though not often, sand I would have to reinstall the intel WLAN drivers to fix it. I though it wasn't going to be a problem. However, in the past two days, the wifi driver would disappear every time I turn on the laptop. Reinstallation did not bring it back and repairs did not work. I had to resort to using an external wireless adapter.The volume down button seems to be stuck down, not physically but more like it was "stickied".*disappear- the drivers would be missing, not disabled. Device manager does not show a wifi adapter existing.

I have a Yoga 13 running Windows 8.1 that has recently stopped connecting to my home wireless network. All the latest Windows Updates are installed at this time.I have uninstalled the Realtek Network device and the related drivers, rebooted and tested without luck.This unit sees the networks and if I enter a wrong password, it asks for a re-entry of the correct password.  When the correct password is entered it says "Checking Network Requirements" then fails with "Can't connect to this network"None of the troubleshooting services have been successful.All my other devices connect without any issues. I am runniing a Netgear R8000 Nighthawk wireless router. What is odd is that this laptop will connect to my iPhone 6 hotspot without any issues. I suspected a windows update may be the cause so I downloaded drivers from Lenovo for the wireless adapter.  Uninstalled the current ones, rebooted, and then installed the Lenove supplied drivers.  Still no joy. Any other suggestions short of a reinstall of the OS? Cheers! Hawkeye007

I currently have a Qualcom Wireless AC Card in my Yoga 920. When I change wifi networks, I don't always get the internet going right away (we have 2 networks at home and several different networks in the office). I would need to right click on the wifi icon in the task bar and click on troubleshoot, then wait for it to fix itself. This happens probably 90% of the time when I change networks (ie Home network, then when at the office, I connect to the Work network and have to perform the troubleshoot to get the internet going then vice versa when back home. Or even changing between our 2 different Home networks - as in from different ISPs and not just changing between 2.4 and 5ghz connection). Also, is there something wrong with Chrome for the 920? When I change networks, and get the internet going (as in the wifi icon property says that there is internet and the yellow triangle exclamation is not present anymore), google chrome does not automatically connect to the internet and load pages. Edge, on the other hand, does not have issues upon gaining internet connection after the troubleshoot. For reference, I have a custom built desktop. I have an Intel AC 8265 in it, and it does not have this issue when switching between our home networks and chrome does not any issue as well. So yeah, I have two issues. Any ideas?

Hello everyone. I have recently update my Y50-70 to Windows 10 Pro. My issue is that when i connect with Wi-fi to the internet i have about 15mbps while when i connect with ethernet i have around 35 mbps. My modem is 2 meters away from me and when i run the test with my Android phone through the same page for internet speed i get around 30mbps. I have the Broadcom 802.11ac network card. When i install the driver for this card from lenovo ( the WLAN Driver (Atheros, Broadcom, Realtek) driver) i cannot connect to any Wifi and sometimes i got a screen freeze so i forced reboot. I have tried to unistall the driver from device manager and then reboot my pc but i got the same result in speedtest.I called lenovo and they told me to wait until the driver is udated again (last update July of 2016) but they didn't know if the driver will be updated soon. Any solutions?Sorry for the bad english.

Hi All, Wifi is showing all hotspots and when i click on connect, its connected but with warining symbol at toolbar wifi icon.(no connection) I have tried to upgrade to windows 10. Everything seems to be smooth except wifi.I have tried the following with the following solutions but thumps down1. Upgraded latest wifi drivers   2. Device manager uninstall and reinstall wifi drivers3. Registry HKEY delete and setting a flag4. Remove all VPN softwares5. Bios enable and disable6. Some forum members have reported a variety of Wifi issues with their G505 laptops. Their reports range from showing "Connection is limited", to Wifi connections dropping repeatedly, to being unable to make a Wifi connection at all. I combined multiple threads in order to assist forum members with troubleshooting solutions.
 
If your G505 was upgraded to Windows 8.0 or 8.1 and then lost connectivity, or you recently purchased a G505 running Windows 8.0 or 8.1 and are unable to connect, try following the instructions posted by Vikramsbox to restore the connection through the Lenovo Communications Utility.
 
For non-Windows 8.0 or 8.1 users, start troubleshooting with the basics:

It is also good practice to verify your Wifi is activated by following the instructions from Neokenchi.
Check Power Management settings to ensure your laptop isn't turning off the Wifi as noted by Dannyk1.
Check to see that Airplane Mode is set to OFF by following the instructions provided by Shiv_K.

Good afternoon all! I recently purchased a G505 from Best Buy. I have only run into one issue. My WiFi will go from connected to "Limited" connectivity about every 10 to 20 minutes. I can disconnect from the router and reconnect, and it will fix the issue temporarily. Connectivity is fine with all other devices and was fine with the previous laptop just a day before I purchased this one. Please advise. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I've just purchase a Lenovo Y700. I'd prefer to connect via ethernet to the business centre lan than via wifi. Unfortunately, when I switch the Y700 on, the ethernet connection lights flash for a few seconds, then a small red light below and to the left of the ethernet connector starts flashing and I seem to get forced over to wifi. If I go into network settings and disable the wifi, I still can't get the system to recognise the ethernet cable's plugged in. I've tested the cable and the lan socket on another PC. Both work. What do I need to do to fix this?

I'm running the latest version of Windows 10 (Anniversary Update - Build 14393.693) clean installed on  a Yoga 2 Pro (20266 / 80AY) BIOS 76CN43WW. The "Lenovo Yoga  Mode Control" version 2.0.0.9 (ymc.exe) has consistently crashed every day for the last few months. Crash reports are logged. Hello Lenovo forum, I have a problem. NO WIFI (even after install drivers/reboot) Last week I bought this laptop: https://www.expert.nl/lenovo-ideapad-310-15isk-80sm017smhAll good, only thing I didn't like was Windows 10 OS.So I bought a serial for Windows 8.1, downloaded the .ISO on Microsoft website, installed it on USB-drive and installed a fresh Windows 8.1. So all CLEAN.Like always first thing is to start with install Drivers of course. So I downloaded Everest and put it on USB-stick. (Easy program to show which hardware)I already checked on (this computer>manage>device manager) and saw there same; Realtek pci family controller for Network.(Now I wanted to check it before posting this but since I just deleted all drivers 10 min. ago, since didn't work, I no see any visible.) But I'm pretty sure it was Realtek PCI Family Controller.So I downloaded the drivers from the Realtek website, and installed it. Rebooted, but still same problem.Anyway I saw also that Motherboard says: "Unknown" on Everest so I think I need drivers for that also but don't know which ones? Same for some USB drivers but I think this is included with Motherboard. The problem is that I just can't choose any Wifi.In Manager the only option is: Flight mode: On/Off (=Off)Bluetooth: On/Off (=Off) I don't see Wifi.I'm trying for hours + yesterday so hope find solution here, otherwise I will install Windows 7 and try that. Thanks in advance!

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.
