Bouncing Emails...Good idea?

Q: Bouncing Emails...Good idea?

I've had the same email address for years and would like to keep it. It's a Yahoo email. I accidentally signed up for something a long time ago which is a 'no no'. I have 2 emails and usually have one for regular and one for spam but I messed up and now have spam coming to my regular email.
With Yahoo everything has been going into the spam folder just fine with the occasional one that ends up in the inbox, But I hate having spam constantly coming to that email because if I get an important email message that accidentally goes into spam I have to search and find it threw the 60+ spam emails I get daily.
I recently downloaded MailWasher and got the pro version on a free trial and I have been using the bounce back feature hoping that if I bounce back enough spam emails they will remove me from the list assuming my email address has been deleted. So far I've had it not even a week but I wanted to ask is using the bounce back feature a good idea? Does it really work? Or is there anything else I can do to remove my email from spam lists or make the spammers believe my email address has been deleted even though it hasn't.

I would really really really want to keep this email address so please don't reply with "delete your email and create a new one" because I really don't want to have to do that. I'll live with having spam than deleting the email address.

Preferred Solution: Bouncing Emails...Good idea?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Bouncing Emails...Good idea?

No, it is not a good idea.
The return address is usually that of an innocent person. You may be sending back mail to someone that considers it spam.

'Saleem' on 6/3/2004 9:04 PM
553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)

I changed the SMTP as of my domain and as of my ISP but none of them seems to be working. I have 4 different emails configured in MS Outlook and I cant send email from any of the account.

I am sending emails to my colleagues with same domain in the email and still the emails are bouncing.

Please help me as I cant send any email.

We use a third party to host our email publication lists. Previousy, when we would send out a publication, I'd usually see a handful of bounced messages in the bounce report. On March 6th some time between 9:30am and 11:00am about half of our clients (from various different companies) started bouncing our publications sent from the listserver (emails sent from from our exchange server, which has a different IP address, are going through just fine). I checked our domain name on the blacklist lookup through MXtoolbox and we got the all clear. I then looked up the IP address for our listserver and it did return one blacklisting with Sorbs, but that appeared to have been listed some time ago. I got Sorbs to delist the IP address. They confirmed the delisting on Tuesday around 1:00pm. I understand that it can take some time for DNS to refresh and propagate around the internet, but it is now Friday and I'm still seeing the same number of bounces.

In the bounce reports under bounce reasons, I'm seeing either a blank space, "Spam," or "service unavailable."

I have a trouble ticket open with the company that hosts our listserver, but so far they haven't been much help. I'm also talking to a couple of network administrators on the receiving end, but due to the sheer volume of the bounces, I don't know how I could reach out to all of our client's IT folks, but I'm hoping someone could shed some light on what changed on March... I have a problem with my email that I can't figure out and hope that someone here can shed some light for me.

Here's the problem:

A few weeks ago I found that a site that I am subscribed to for daily email notifications to play trivia suddenly stopped. Then, a few days later (June 16th) I received a message from Brink that my email notifications here were bouncing back. (I am subscribed to the Funny You Tube Videos thread.) Funny thing is, I did receive a notification from his PM that my emails were bouncing yet I didn't receive any from those who had posted to the Funny You Tube Video thread just 6 days ago even though I did change my email for this site to an alternate email client on the 16th of June and did receive a notification from Brink at the new email address after I had changed it and I did get a notification from my friend here that I sent a message to a few days ago at that new address yet still, non from those who had posted in the Funny Video thread. Weird huh?!?!

Since I was notified about my emails bouncing, I've realized that I am not getting emails from my daughters school newsletters either. If it were just one domain that this was happening to I'd say it was them. What really confuses me is that I get notifications from PM's here but not from threads!! I'm curious to see if I get one from this thread at the new email client.

So, even if you don't know the solution to this issue would someone please just post to say hi or something so I can see if ... Read more

There is one cause, that I think is reasonable. Yahoo has updated its spam list. Addys or domains that they suspect of being spam are not being delivered. .\

About 3-4 weeks ago people started calling saying their emails to me were bouncing back as undeliverable.

Issues
1. Emails to me are intermittenly bouncing back to the senders. Not good!
2. Pages change slowly in my browsers
3. Delayed mouse clicks, (intemitten)
4. Programs open slowly. Sometimes they do not appear on my screen, so I try to open them again and get a message that that program is open...where is the question. then I go to System manger turn off the program and re-open. that usually works.

I'm running a scan with a fresh download of MBAM right now, it could take a while.

Thanks,

Hi! I'm newly registered her but have been here before and found great information.
I have searched and read previous posts on the AOL issues and luckily I got rid of them many years ago.
My question is this. Has anyone ever heard of having to PAY AOL to keep your server off of their blacklist? I'm on another forum (a local club that I'm a board member of) and the guy that set it up says that he's going to ban aol users because of the bouncing and that they refuse to pay AOL to keep it from happening. Being a club and it being one of the ways we communicate, the board members don't want to ban anyone. I'm pretty much all over the net on different groups and have never heard of this.
Thanks for any info on this!

Hi folks,

I had bouncing emails which I believe I tracked down to fact I was using a domain forwarder and email forwarder, which added its own server IP address to email headers. Then when about 2 or 3 mths ago every ISP in the land (UK) switched on SPF, my own ISP's SPF blocked out a lot of email that was addressed for me, on the basis that it was spam (my ISP told me this happened if it came from another company that ran SPF, or whose ISP ran SPF, because my ISP's SPF would be able to do a lookup of domain vs. IP address, and lo-and-behold, any email that had been forwarded now looked like spam !).

Very annoying - lost lots of client and candidate emails without knowing...
I was told the problem was that I was using email forwarding - no surprise I suppose - even my untrained eye could tell that email forwarding is a bit of a hack...

Anyhow, what I did was move my domain hosting in-house with my ISP so its properly hosted and I no longer need any domain forwarding or email forwarding, which I'm told should fix the problem.

BUT - how can I be sure it has ? is there any sort of diagnostic I can run or check I can do ?

..would hate to lose another 2 mths email - would probably put me out of bizness

lotsa love
C.

Hi... I'm in help desk in my company. We're having an issue with emails sent to Hotmail, they're being rejected. Microsoft answered, via website:

"Welcome to Microsoft Community. We understand how important for you to be able to send an email to Microsoft accounts from your domain account.

You need to get in touch with the Microsoft Sender Support Team. They have to fill out the e-form that can be found on the following link to solve your issue with the error code 550 SC-002 where your emails sent from your domain to Microsoft Account rejected for policy reasons.

If you are the 3rd party Domain Administrator:

Please review our policies and guidelines at http://postmaster.live.com.
If you are in compliance, submit a support request to our Email and Delivery Filtering Services team by clicking on the link to the e-form under the troubleshooting section in the postmaster site mentioned above.

Let us know if you have further questions.

Thank you. "

... but the problem is that mails sent to Gmail are being rejected too... So I suppose that our servers are being considered as spammers, for the time being, for some reason. Is there a workaround to this without having to contact either Hotmail or Gmail? That's dealing with obnoxious bureaucrats... if you ever can get a hold of them...

For several months now I receive "bounced" email messages from a variety of people. The problem is, I am NOT sending the emails that are bouncing back to me, but everyone of these people (who I do NOT know) think I am sending them and I am getting back some fairly harsh responses.

The offending sender seems to be someone from a company called "cura heat patch", but when I try to contact them the emails will not go through.

This morning I tried to reply to one of their messages, and unfortunately it seems to have gone to dozens of people instead of them, and now I have alot more people cranking at me to stop sending them messages, when in fact I am not.

What could be causing this? and do you have any suggestions on how to stop it?

Thank you

Will they both be thrashing my machine and eating up lots of CPU like a hungry monster?

A:Running Sugarsync + Dropbox at the same time - good idea or bad idea?

You can be specific about what each actually synchronizes so I don't see that as a CPU issue. However if using both over the Internet with one of the more substantial data plans to sync, I would wonder which gets priority or how well they share the upload bandwidth. Wouldn't be so good if one was always grabbing it to sync in the off-load times and the other just kept waiting and waiting for its turn.

Hi Aroominyork, it is possible the mail server you use for sending mail has been added to a black list which is now causing you issues.

You need to find the IP of your SMTP server (which you can find probably in the returned emails), if not then copy and paste the contents of one of the returned emails here and we should be able to find it.

When you have the IP, try typing it in here and see what results you get.

My Sent Items and Inbox folders became filled with emails on Tuesday and I was unable to send or receive emails until I removed several thousand old emails from both folders (which I did, then the system was running fine again as of late Tuesday). I discovered this problem when I attempted to send 3 emails with attachments, making the emails around 5 megabytes each in size (I did not realize that the recipient's system could not handle any email more than 2 megabytes - thus, my Outlook Express kept trying to send these emails every 1 minute for 3 hours until I discovered the problem). I had to delete around 100 email notifications that the recipient could not receive emails at that size and that my email boxes were full.

I corrected these problems and relocated the emails from my Outlook Box to Drafts (until the recipient can change his settings).

All day Wednesday (yesterday) I was able to send & receive emails without a problem. This morning I was sending & recieving as well, then all of a sudden, I was unable to receive any emails. When Outlook attempts to receive, I briefly see a box with the number of emails attempting to be received, then I get an Unknown Error message. Hi rherrygers

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

Have you attempted to logon to your ISP's mail server to see what messages are still on the mail server along with determining the size of the messages?
Outlook Express may be timing out trying to download a message that is larger than normal.
Did you also send yourself a copy of the message with the attachment?

Can you post the exact error message please?
If the Send/Receive window is not appearing, you can make it appear by double clicking the area marked in red here:

I have determined to learn something about spam and spammers. My ISP catches quite a bit of it and Norton Catches a lot, but some still finds its way to the inbox. I have been moving quite a bit of it into a separate folder, without opening it. I intend to examine the headers, using file/properties, and record the originating ISP. In some cases I will also look at the content, using properties.

My incoming e-mail is scanned by Norton for viruses, but nothing is 100 per cent foolproof.

Am I being stupid and should I just delete all the spam, or am I being reasonably prudent?

A:Good Idea?

The firewall router should be able to import the settings from Zone Alarm Pro . Then you would have no reason to leave it running on your computer if you did not want to.
In reality, the NAT of a basic router is enough security for the average user at this time; especially if you have the built in windows firewall active. Although I personally do like the added security of having a full software firewall so that I can check my firewall logs and so that I can be warned not only of incomming but of outgoing traffic.

How to Use An Antivirus Boot Disc or USB Drive to Ensure Your Computer is Clean

A:What a good idea

Is it really a good idea??

It sounds good, but...

A Rescue CD is normally based on the Linux operating system kernel. A Linux OS can mount an
NTFS partition, however loading the Windows Registry is another story. In this day and age, accessing the Registry is necessary when doing a scan for malware.

The Antivirus included on the Rescue CD scans the file system, but not the Registry.
Many types of malware use the Registry in order to launch. Both the malicious file and the malicious Registry entry need to go. However, the Rescue CD only detects and deletes the file. This action has serious consequences depending on the Registry location of a malicious entry.

An example is the ZeroAccess rootkit which hijacks the Windows value in the HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\SubSystems key. If a scanner deletes the file associated with this key, without adjusting the Windows Registry value data, the computer will no longer boot.

Another issue to be aware of when scanning with a Rescue CD is that it can delete any file, including those that are critical Windows system files. Normally there is a Windows mechanism that attempts to prevent the deletion of such files. This will not happen using a Rescue CD. If a system file is infected, it needs to be identified and replaced. Deletion may lead to an unbootable system.

On the other side of the coin, a Rescue CD has its uses. If its scanner detects an infected file, investigate what it detected, and if y... Read more

Hi,

Whenever I want to find a site for somebody and their keywords pick up nothing in a search engine I often try another technique. Trying to guess what the domain will be. For example I was searching for the website for KATE FEAST MANAGEMENT and I tried KATEFEASTMANAGEMENT .co.uk/.com KATEFEAST .co.uk/.com and KATE-FEAST .co.uk/.com and even though this didn't work this time this does work for me most of the time.

Is it possible to make some kind of script that will automatically try out different domains and illiminate the dead links and select working links and present them to you? E.g. if you typed in KATE FEAST MANAGEMENT it would automatically try all those options an alternative to web searching. Can anyone suggest a method of doing this or how I could go about making this script with cgi or php perhaps?

Thanks for any replies!

hi,

Is it a good idea to have a setting in the "Power Options" of the control panel to turn off hard disks and the monitor. If so what is a good setting

Thanks

A:good idea??

desktop? laptop?

For the monitor, i would say yes.

For the Hard Drive, i would say no. It's much easier on a hard drive to keep spinning rather than to start/stop constantly. Windows is constantly indexing files, checking for updates, running diagnostics etc so it's likely that your disk won't shut down anyway from constantly being accessed. It's quite normal.

I have recently downloaded Avast 4.1 free edition. I have been using AVG for quite some time, but some features in Avast appealed to me. I still have AVG running. I have two concerns:
1) Can I run AVG and Avast simultaneously without creating problems for myself, and
2) After scanning with Avast, it says that I have no infections, but the results of the last scan show 65 files that 'cannot be scanned' because they are 'password protected'... not by me, as far as I am aware. What are these files and what I am supposed to do with this list of files? (I would like to have included a sample of this list, but don't know how.)
Thanks.

A:AVG and Avast: A good idea??

You cannot have two anti virus programs running at the same time More is not better in this case They will conflict and cause a lot of problems for you .

2. Problem two---- Update and use AVG to scan and see if it duplicates the list . Shut Down Avast first

You can always get a second opinion by doing an online Panda Active Scan as well .

Hello! (First post here)

My roommate has a Linksys BEFW11s4 v.4 router. I moved into this townhouse a few months ago and I recently found a problem that is most likely associated with the router.

I use Trillian for instant messenging. However, the latest versions of AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger ("gateway offline") do not work. I can not access my new e-mail account from Outlook/Thunderbird ("connection refused") or connect to internet to update programs like Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat, et cetera ("unable to connect to servers" I believe). I use Firefox and it runs fine. The latest version of Avant browser can not connect to the internet.

Every time I open a file online to be used by Windows Media Player and Real Player, the router disconnects.

I disabled my Windows firewall.

I do not have an anti-virus software running (shame on me, I know).

I spent a while on the phone with Sharp (maker of my laptop) and Linksys. None their support assistants helped. The support assistant from Linksys made me forward (or open?) ports that are blocked by the NAT firewall. That did not work.

So ...

I ordered a new router (Zyxel P-330W).

Would a new one solve the problems I am having (not having the ability to use many programs that require internet connection)?

Thanks!

A:New Router - Good Idea?

have you tried to use that serivce without the router in -place
I have not had issues with msn services with linksys
not that model ??
and my adobe updates fine again not that model
it should not be blocking http port

I recently installed a new SSD. I?ve been reading a lot about how having many programs installed on the SSD will decrease its life time. So I?m thinking about reconfiguring the set up. I?m not sure if I should change to mounting the drive to a HD or creating junctions is better?
I presently have all the data storage pics, music, documents stored on the HD. Is that good enough?
What would you do?
I attached a few screen shots of my installed programs which ones should I move?
Why don?t the ones on top show the folder their installed to?

Thanks all

A:Reconfigure my Rig? Is it a good idea?

Hello Gerry,

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. There is no great risk to having programs, pictures, documents, or whatever installed to your SSD. Whoever told you that was making it up, or was taking something so small and irrelevent and blowing it out of proportion. The problem comes when you start doing SSD testing, you can begin to wear it out with constant benchmarking.

But as SSDs are expensive, I would take all my music and put it on an HDD along with programs that I do not need to open instantaneously. I would leave the OS, OS files, and system files all on the SSD. Some people try to move the paging files and other stuff, but I wouldn't recommend it (especially not the Paging files), so long as you have enough room.

I think the X850XT is the same price as the 6800GS but has 16 pixel pipelines and 256-bit memory so it's kinda better.

I just bought a new PC. It was a pre-build machine. It came with two disk drives using Raid 1, making it look like one disk drive. I bought 4 years PC support for help with problems. I am told that if one disk drive goes down, that the PC keeps running, the data is still good on the other drive, the manufacturer will send me a new drive to replace the one that went bad, and they will talk me through replacing the bad drive. I have an external drive to do backups with. Someone I listen to on the radio does not recommend Raid 1 because of its complexity. I can disable Raid 1, but worry that I am making a mess out of something that is working. I Raid 1 a good idea? Is my approach ok? What else might I consider?

Sorry, not sure if this is the right place to post this question but seems as good as anywhere. My screens saver randomly picks photos from the thousands on my computer. When a particular photo comes up is there a way to have ity stop and identify where that particular photo is located? I have many photos that come up that I would like to use or forward to friends but I don't know where i can find it among all the folders I have. I am sure XP will not do it but is there a commercial screen saver that has this feature? seems like too good of an idea that someone has not done this already. Thanks for any help.

A:Too good of an idea not to exist already.

The screen saver uses one particular folder of pictures, of your choosing, to use for it's slide show. It does not pick pictures from all over your C: drive. (ex) C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Pictures. You can also create a folder and just put the pictures you want to be the slide show and have your screen saver use that folder instead.
If you know the name of the picture, or the date it was uploaded or taken, you can do a search for it using that criteria. Or you can just go to My Pictures and look around.

I have an OLD Fujitsu HDD (MPD3084 AT) 8G that I would like to use as a file storage/backup for my Dell DIM 3000 XP SP2 computer.

I'm planning on reformatting my HD and would like to save money by just moving/saving the important stuff. My Dell has an 80G HD and I've used 37G of it.

Is this a:
a) good idea
b) wasting time
c) are you nuts

Help / suggestions are always welcomed. Thanx in advance

A:Slave HDD- Is this a good idea...?

Backups are always a good idea. Might be quite slow moving the files to an age-old drive, and it might fail pretty soon, but hopefully they won't both fail at the same time Just keep a copy of the files on both drives.

Just picked up the October issue of "PC Advisor"
It has a Windows XP Service Pack 2 free disc attached, in your opinion, would this be a better proposition to use this, than the lengthy d/load for my narrowband connection.
To me, it seems ideal, in the mag there is a lot ot info about the disc, & it's installation.
I know you guys will tell me if you think that there are any snags, the disc is in an official M/Soft, blue sleeve, I wouldn't think that this well known mag would use anyting but genuine software items.

Wary, as ever,
Maurice:suspiciou

A:Is mag's SP2 disc a good idea?

Hiya Maurice. Yes it`s ok mate it will be genuine Microsoft have released it to loads of publications. I think it`s a better idea to have it on disc and it should be much quicker to install. I got mine from Microsoft`s web site free of charge took about ten days to arrive. Regards Howard:grinthumb

Just watched a YT video about cleaning up Windows 10 in which it was mentioned to change the sleep option to Never. My system (desktop) has the screen shut down after 15 minutes and then set to sleep after 30 minutes and finally turned fully off overnight.

Can I ask if it's recommended to let the PC sleep after a while or do as the video recommends and keep it awake?

I've genuine win 8 installed on my machine with activation. i've received reccomendation from MS to upgrade it to 8.1 for free. The prob is that once i've already tried it before, and when i did the upgrade and tried to go on win store and plan to make a purchase of some software, it asked me for the key. Then i went back to my system and checked the activation status, it shown up with the message "activate windows". I had no rating anymore.
Can anybody come up with some good help and better suggestion?

A:Is it good idea to upgrade win 8 to 8.1?

Hello Rein, and welcome to Eight Forums.

When you update via the Store, it'll now update you to the newer Windows 8.1 Update released on April 8th 2014 instead of just Windows 8.1.
Windows 8.1 - Update to from Windows 8
If you have your product key written down before doing the update, then you should be able to activate online or by phone afterwards if it does this again.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I am upgrading my videocards soon (i sold my 7950GX2's in august 07, and ive had a 8400GS since). I am wondering if the HD3870x2 would be a good idea - I like the DX10.1 and its 450$ price and the ability to have crossfire and multiple going at the same time. HOWEVER, Like i said, I had 7950GX2's and got burned on that (terrible terrible support). So Im looking for advice - would the HD3870x2 be a good idea? should i wait for the R700? should i ignore dx10.1 and go with nvidia? Thanks!

Edit: forgot to say that i have multiple monitors, and i just found out that Crossfire X can power multiple monitors which is a big plus for me. Thanks again!

A:HD3870x2, good idea?

Yes, it's a very good idea...especially for the price.

Hey gang,

It's come to my attention that my Seagate has gone ker-plunk. I'm not completely sure what is wrong with it. I ran Hitachi's Drive Fitness test on it and the test ran into a hiccup.

Let me backup. This all started when I was rebooting my computer because it was in the process of crashing (music was skipping/playing the same .5 second clip for a few seconds). Not that this happens all the time, but normally, a reboot fixes the problem. While the computer was booting up I ended up running into a chkdsk (I think that's how it was spelled) screen. It, as far as I know (scrolled by kind of fast), only looked at my storage drive. It did a couple of things with a few files on there and then booted up like normal. So I wasn't worried. This morning I wake up to a BSOD saying that XP was shut down in order to protect it from yadda yadda. So I run the DFT on my raid 0 array and they come up clean but the Seagate storage drive did not pass the DFT.

Alright, so if I unplug the bad HDD and boot, the system boots just fine. With the bad HDD connected the system boots but takes about ten minutes and the hdd cannot be found. So, a friend suggested that I rewrite the MBR of the bad HDD and go from there. Is this logical/smart or stupid/ignorant? If it does seem like a halfway decent idea, I'd like to make sure I know how to rewrite the MBR.

1) unplug raid array (as to not rewrite that MBR)
2) boot from xp disc
3) repair mode
4) FDISK /MBR

From my un... Read more
