Onsite Warranty for spill damage

Q: Onsite Warranty for spill damage

I would like to know if onsite repair is applicable for liquid damage. I know the repairs for spill damage are chargeable, but will a technician arrive to my place as i have an onsite warranty.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Onsite Warranty for spill damage

Every country has different rules for repairs, so you need to check locally, but depot is generally best for any sort of spill damage. It is impossible to know what parts were damaged until the machine is taken apart. The technician wouldn't know what parts to bring, so he or she would need to guess.

I have a valid HP onsite warranty that is valid for 3 more months. The keyboard on my laptop malfunctioned 5 days ago.HP refuses to send a technician to my house to replace the keyboard. They want me to send the computer to them. I specifically paid for an onsite warranty. Not a warranty to ship the computer to them. They are willing to ship me the keyboard but not send a person to install the keyboard. They would rather that I install the keyboard and not their technicians which they claim do not have the skills to do this.Give me a break......what ype of terrible service is this.  Sell me an on site warranty and then refuse to honor it.The gentleman I have been in contact with at HP is very nice but his hands are tied by cororate greed and deception. When HP finally agreed (4 days later and lots of calls) to ship me the keybaord it was supposed to come overnight.  Another lie, I just received an email that states the part will not be here for 5 days.  HP is obviously able to get away with this. I am surprised that there is not a class action lawsuit against HP for their deceptive sales technics. The sales people sell you an onsite warranty and HP refuses to honor it. So if anyone reading this is considering an on site warranty, don't waste your money, they are not worth the paper they are printed on.

Hi all,
Having a bit of a crisis here. Last night I had a drink spill into a well vented computer case causing it to power down. After panicly and quickly removing the cords and removing all hardware besides the cpu (which was missed and rather dry after the inspection) and the power source (which I figured was completely dead at that point and could be easily replaced). I took all the components out and left them to dry next to a fan the entire night after a quick wipe, worrying all the way.

So the early morning after I reinsert the gpu, ram and connect the cords and give it a go. To my surprise, it works. Power supply runs, moba isn't trashed and the gpu works (success confirmed by the screen lighting up and telling me to locate the hard drive that isn't plugged in). Obviously ecstatic about this, I plug in more things (hard drive, mouse, keyboard, internet) and I try again. It powers on but the screen no longer lights up so I can't confirm whether or not the computer can properly boot to desktop or the like and after removing the parts I get the same thing.

I've been trying to correct this, see if any damaged parts might be the cause of this. Replacing the gpu gives me the same thing and replacing cords and parts here and there to see if anything changes. Nothing so far and I'm running out of ideas. So I turn to you guys for ideas. What can I do? What might the problem be?

A:What does a tea spill, computer damage and blank screens have in common?

Remove everything, just the bare motherboard /cpu and the power supply. Boot and see what happens. You should get BIOS BEEP/ERROR codes for missing RAM. If not, it's a faulty MB or power supply.

By mistakely some water spilled on my HP Laptop (Pavilion G6) and now it is showing water on screen and looks like screen is damaged. I immediately turn it off and havent check yet so I dont know other things are working properly or not.  My laptop is new in warranty period so does HP provides water damage protection in warranty period? Can you replace it with new one or can you repair it. I have heared that HP provides water damage protection like others do. Thanks.

A:HP Laptop water damage warranty

From the HP Accidental Damage Protection page:"You can purchase this plan during the HP standard warranty period. Buy your plan at the same time you purchase your HP product to get the most coverage and value. Because accidents are unavoidable, and the costs associated with them can really add up." It looks like it can be purchased during the standard warranty and would cover incidents of damage while the coverage is in place, or damage that happens after you purchase the extra coverage.  This might be good information for your next purchase. Thanks,

Last month, I found my laptop y50-70 cant power on. My laptop still under warranty,so I send my laptop to Lenovo authorised centre in Malaysia. Lenovo have said my laptop motherboard broken and this is a consumer issue because USB port have some damage and not warranty. To repair they ask me for RM3xxx++(USD7xx++), I said no, because I bought it only RM2999( USD726 ), I shocked. And I'm so upset because Lenovo refused to take responsibility of the problem since warranttee period still not over and poor quality (laptop motherboard not working within 2 years is my 1st ever experience since I started using laptop) I swear this was the last time I bought lenovo product, I will NEVER buy a Lenovo product again and will tell all my friends and family to do the same.

i have an older dell e1505 laptop that has 4 years of accidental damage warranty. it was bought in 2006 and the warranty will soon expire. dell does not make or sell the E1505 anymore. recently i dropped my laptop and its pretty badly damaged. are they going to give me a new laptop like one of those they currently sell, or are they going to find the same laptop (maybe refurbished?) and give me that instead? anyone had experience with these warranties?

A:how does the accidental damage warranty work?

Most likely they are going to repair what is wrong with the one you have, or if they can dig up an exact model they may replace it. I doubt seriously if they are going to replace it with a brand new current model, and if they did they would probably do so with a model of comperable value to you rexisting laptop.

I've been having trouble with my Y410P in that it will randomly turn of and then on by itself, each time it does that it makes a beep that you get if you do a hard power off. I thought this was a software issues so I did all checks and even two reformats, and nothing. So I called Lenovo and I'm on warranty, so the support agent said he will ship a box in which I will send my laptop to them. Now I've never dropped this laptop or mishandled it. So when he asked me if there were any physical damage I said no. Though after the call I was inspecting to make sure I didn't miss anything, as I know some manufacturers are picky on things like this. What I noticed that at the heatsink grill there is a small piece missing. (The bit in the red box in the picture below) I don't know how this happened and I'm certain this isn't the cause of my problems. Though would this void my warranty? And if it does what should I do to fix the laptop? I've done 2 reformats on it and the problem is still there.

A:Does any physical damage void warranty?

hi Fluix,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Wear and tear issues will not get affected by other cosmetic and Physical damages, unless it is the cause of the problem. If you send the system in for repair, You may get a call about the physical damage where you can opt ou to have repaired done to it and just asked to Fix the in-warranty issues.

As long as the issue is not cosmetic and physical damage, then it will be covered.

Regards
Solid Cruver

I sent my laptop in to be serviced under warranty because the keyboard would not work. was denied service because of water damage but now my screen doesn't work, can someone help

A:My screen won't turn on after service was denied on warranty due to water damage

Water can destroy a laptop or any other electronic device. Chances are that the water sat underneath the keyboard and flowed onto the motherboard where it dried causing corrosion and damaging the motherboard permanently. You could take the laptop to a repair shop and they could give you a repair estimate. Of course, you will have to pay for this repair. If a liquid is spilled on a laptop in the future, immediately open it and turn it upside down. This allows the liquid not to hit and pool on the motherboard, or in a keyboard

I bought a Lenovo 910 in December. Upgraded the warranty to onsite and added the damage protection. Good thing I did. I now have a cracked screen. So, you say, good thing you got those extra coverages, right? Hold on just a minute. I've learned that "cracked screens" cannot be replaced in the field. They have to be shipped to a repair depot.  I'm so frustrated I could scream. Cracked screen (with no trauma I'm aware of) and now I'm told to repair it I need to be with out it for who knows how long. The story could have gone like this: "Contacted Lenovo, a tech came to may office, replaced the screen and now I'm right as rain! Lenovo is awesome!" Instead, the story goes like this: "Contacted Lenovo. No joy. I have a new computer with a cracked screen that I must now use in a cracked state for the rest of its life because I cannot be without my means of making a living for who knows how long. Lenovo sucks!"

Hi,

I need to figure out a back-up strategy for 6 TB of data. Docs/Media/Work.

Currently, I'm back-up up to external hard drives but this only covers me for onsite backup, plus, is a real pain to figure out what is on each disc.

Ideally, I'd live to have the data in the cloud as well backed up on premise.

Any idea if cloud backup of this size is practical? I was looking at CrashPlan, has anyone experienced loading this much to them?

Also, is there a better way I can backup on site? Software/Media wise.

I'd appreciate any help.

Now if you want to use external disk, Why not use Goodsync, it's sync the contain of your PC on the external disk, so even if you alternate 2 or 3 disks, the same contain will be on each disk, and it's directly available, it'S means you just plug the external disk to any PC, and without install any software, you can go get the file you want. I have few customer who use it, I sell them a external 2.5 usb enclosure with a laptop disk inside

something like this

Newegg.ca - Vantec NexStar TX 2.5" SATA to USB 2.0 External Hard Drive/SSD Enclosure - Model NST-210S2-BK

Hello everyoneA Lenovo engineer came today onsite to fix my Lenovo X1 Yoga. Not only my laptop was not fixed, but I ended up with a broken screen, in addition to the other issues I had!First of all, the replacement screen was not the correct one! Then the engineer while trying to remove the old screen, broke some of the clips on the chassis. Lastly, he cracked the screen in several places, so the screen does not work at all anymore. Moreover, the other parts (as I had a 2100 error) systemboard and harddrive were not replaced yet!The laptop is only 2 months old! After the service today, I do not trust the engineers anymore. The chassis has some clips broken which means that it should be replaced  also! I paid about GBP 2000 and I do not need another broken screen, broken chassis clips or whatever else will get destroyed by your engineer!Hence, I do not want to accept any onsite repair! Not only I doubt the quality of service but they will need to change so many parts that it is very risky! I believe after the damage today, caused by their technician, Lenovo has to replace my laptop! Can someone post an appropriate email to contact Lenovo in UK?Thanks

I contacted tech support about my swollen overheating battery/ raised trackpad and their only solution was to send in the machine to the depot which can take 2 weeks or more to get it back (tech support said the parts may be back ordered).
There has to be a better solution than saying 'unfortunately'.  I use my XPS 9550 for business and don't have a spare computer.  Considering that there is a known safety issue here too, I would think that Dell would want to have an onsite repair solution.

I spilled sugarfree Dr. Pepper (moron!) on my laptop and now the Control and function keys are malfunctioning (as if they are always "on" and the F10 key sometimes displays the "on" light and also seems to stick). I got it cleaned and I adjusted my filter keys settings to "no repeat rate" on my keypad, so that my control function does not work (and I also can not hold a key down to repeat keystrokes anymore), but that is fine b/c it's not a major handicap for me--cheaper than buying a whole new laptop. However, is there anything else I can do to fix this problem software wise? Would it be beneficial to me to buy a new keyboard? I appreciate any responses!! Kind thanks!

A:Another spill story, but a bit different...

ouch on a laptop?

The only good way to clean that is to take the laptop apart...the membrane behind the plastic keys is probably nicely gummed up with a mixture of dust and dr pepper...

...I'd see about getting the keyboard on it replaced, or at the very least cleaned by a professional.

Unless you've done it many times before you don't want to take apart a laptop ... they can be a PITA to get back together...and it voids your warranty if you do it.

A friend gave me her HP Pavilion dv6-6c35dx Entertainment PC after she happened to spill a small amount of coffee on the keyboard. I'm not sure what steps she took but it will not display anything on the screen now.

Since it was only 6 months old she sent it to HP and they notified her that liquid spills were not covered so she asked them to return it.

When you power up, the lights come on the keypad, the power light is showing, the hard drive light is lit and you can hear it loading windows (at least I think). I've taken everything out, and put back together but there is still nothing displaying on the screen.

My question is how do I know if it's a keyboard issue, video card issue, motherboard issue, combination or more?

A:Another coffee spill.......what next?

When you spill something in a computer a lot of damage can be caused.Even a small amount of liquid can damage the motherboard.I think it should be taken somewhere to see what was damaged and how bad and if its even worth fixing.

Ok.. today has been one of my worst days.. (Skip this long first paragraph if u wanna just go on to my question)

This morning I spilled water on my keyboard... which went psycho, but became ok after i opened it up and blow dried and nature dried it for hours. Right about the time my keyboard got to work again, I spilled my water on my computer. My pc case has fan on top for better airflow, meaning it has a vent there.. and i happened to spill water there.
Being a dumb person I am, I just went to sleep thinking water will dry itself (computer was off at the time of water spill) instead of cleaning inside. About 4 hours later.. i woke up and turned on the computer. It booted fine.. but when Windows screen came up, I saw weird marks on the screen all over. I quickly turned off the computer and opened it up. I felt my way around and felt that... my graphic card had little bit of water on top of it. (Leadtek 7900GT). I quickly used paper towl to dry it and blow dried it with a cool air. I inserted it back in and booted computer again. Everything ran fine. Having being shocked, I constantly monitored temperatures using CPUFAN and graphic card driver... things seemed fine... until i got the BSOD saying something wrong with win32k.sys

After the BSOD, every time my comp boots, it beeps and doesnt start. I drove to Fry's immediately (which is at least 40 min away) to buy a new graphic card..but it was closed (I arrived at 9:50).

Now I just got back and am thinking about... Read more

Well honestly if the laptop itself is still functioning then that is an accomplishment. With the keyboard being bad yea that is going to have to be replaced. If the computer itself constantly wants to go to system recovery, try reverting the system back to an earlier date through system restore to see if that fixes your problems. If not, you may have an issue regarding the motherboard.

Take it to a repair shop and let them give you a price estimate. The diagnosis work will probably be sth like $100-$200

Assuming that miracles don't happen.. At minimum you will need to have the motherboard replaced. In additon, keyboard, power supply, hard drive, battery, pretty much anything that could have been shorted out or corroded. You are probably looking at a repair cost of $500-$1000
