I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Just installed the HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer. Easy to set up from either the disk or online. It shows as ?ready?and default on my ACER All in One using Windows 10 Connected wirelessly verystrong connection. Looks for all the world as if it is ready to print butno go. I'm not sure if it is the Windows 10 or the HP software. Iam using Vista on a Dell All in One--also wirelessly. It works great. The printer shows in my netwok. Made it the default. I haverun all the suggested HP utilities, uninstalled, reinstalled, shut down andunplugged. Everything I could find. Help!! I haveinstalled the software. I used the CD, I tried the website, and I usedthe HP link. I have worn out the HP helppages. I'm pretty sure the software is installed. When I useHP Print and Scan Doctor, it will not print a test page. However, canprint a print quality diagnostics page from the ?maintain your printer? link. I cannot print anything else. It says ready and it shows as mydefault printer. When I send anything to print (includes MS Office 2016applications, website pages, PDF etc.). It doesn't give me any indicationof an error and there is nothing pending print. I've turned the firewalloff and on. I've uninstalled the printer and then tried by a simple"look for a printer". I always end up downloading the samesoftware without issue until I want to print a test page or anything else. Diagnostics page is it. I have been having problems with my computer ever since I hooked my Wireless Printer up to it. The error I am trying to fix right now is in the event viewer, every time I boot my machine I get the error below 4 times.

I do not know why I keep getting that error, and I really would like it fixed. The thing I do not understand is that the printer works fine, I tell it to print, and it prints. However, I always get an error message on the computer saying it was unable to print. Even thought I have the documents right here.

The Printer is a HP Photosmart with ePrint. I only turn the printer on when I need to print, and I would like the computer to only communicate with it when I need to print. I found that if I disable the Print Spooler Service, the problem is fixed. The issue is I need to Print Spooler to print, so its not worth turning off.

OK, this one is a twist on a very often reported problem on these forums:

Internet Explorer 11 will not print and just shows an empty print preview page. (Edge works/prints fine).

However in this case I know what caused the issue but not how to resolve it. This issue CANNOT be repaired by the commonly offered 3 or 4 step Microsoft tips that are all over this site and elsewhere (disable protected mode, Low folder permissions, etc, etc,)

Here is the complete story: New laptop HP Z Book 17 with factory installed Windows 10 Pro. All worked great when first run. No issues. I installed Office 2010, Quicken, AutoCAD, Chrome ........ etc. All worked fine.
Then I installed a specialist program, 'Helvar Workshop' - which is a lighting control application that I need for my work and originally written for XP.
After installing the Workshop program it worked fine but I was no longer able to print or preview in IE11. This is not a new issue to me as it also broke the same functions with IE10 and 11 running on Windows 7. I only ever 'resolved the problem then by doing a system restore in Windows 7 and ultimately installing an XP VM to run 'Workshop'. In that configuration it did NOT break the print functions in XP's IE 6 or 7.

Having experienced the problem again on the new Z Book I went to System Restore and discovered that HP had supplied the machine without activating System Restore! Yes, I should have verified it was active before installing any apps ........ but seri... Read more

A:Very Dim Screen after installing amd driver

@MOU2 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!Sorry, but I don't have very good news for you ...You actually have two different video chips, which is why you have two different video drivers. Since you are seeing the same problems, whether the drive is HP or AMD, this clearly indicates that the video hardware is failing. From your descriptions, it sounds like the AMD chip is failing -- and there really isn't anything you can do about that as the video chips in laptops are not mounted on "cards" that you can replace. Sorry, but hardware does eventually wear out.

My computer had a virus that disabled all network adapters. So with the help of google, I found that replacing the ndis.sys driver may solve the problem. After placing a new ndis.sys in System32 and rebooting once, the computer just reboots every time it reaches the XP splash screen, even if I choose Safe Mode.
After disabling auto-reboot on system failure, I received this error:
***STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x80599ED1, 0xF8484826A4, 0XF84823A0)
Machine was running fine before the driver, not counting the network adapters.

With the help of google again, it appears that a Recovery Console repair install is the best option, but I thought I'd ask around. Any help is appreciated.

(Edit) To whom it may concern: this is a second PC, separate from the one mentioned in my Malware forum post.

A:Blue Screen after installing a driver

Replacing system files...is no cure for problems arising from malware. Ditto for the XP Recovery Console.

The malware problem needs to be addressed/neutralized first and foremost...before trying to move on.

Has the malware problem been addressed properly?

I am new to this forum and i hope this is the right category.
So i was playing heroes of the storm when suddenly my screen went all weird with a sort of horizontal purple-ish lines across the screen. My computer didn't respond to any mouse or keyboard input so i restarted it hoping it would be gone when it booted up.. it was. until shortly after it happened again. First those now flickering lines and then they were gone and came back and then a complete crash. i restarted my system again and the same thing happened and right before it crashed it gave me the following warning: ''amd display driver stopped responding and has recovered''. I have an AMD radeon HD 7770 series video card.
So i thought that it must be something with either my driver or my video card. When i booted my pc up again it never got to the login screen... just a black screen. I tried booting up in safe mode what worked and disabled the display driver. Booting up normally it worked until it didn't. Back in safe mode i checked the display driver in device manager again and it wasn't disabled any more. I now uninstalled the driver completely but when i booted up black  screen... Back to safe mode and sure enough.. the driver was reinstalled. I then disabled some windows function that automatically re-installed it and when i now boot up normally it was fine. Checking the device manager i see that i am now using Windows Basic Display Adapter.
So i go to the AMD site to download th... Read more

A:Installing AMD driver causes black screen.

This very well could be a hardware problem, I have seen this countless times with bad video cards and or power problems, rarely a motherboard pci-e problem. Likely, this is either psu related or the video card itself, these were the 2 most common causes if no software changes took place. If you happen to have a different video card to test with, that would be the fastest part to replace to start with.
One thing you can check for inside your computer is for blown or bulging capacitors, check the motherboard and the video card.

I have been having his problem for the past couple of months and cannot find any answer. I run Vista 64 and use a GTX 260 in sli, 4 gb ram, Q9650 on an evga 780i mb. If I use any driver up to 182.50 everything is fine. If I try to install any of the newer drivers 185, 186, 190, they all result in the monitor losing its signal just after the Window's green progress bar but before the Wondow's chime, which I can hear, but the monitor has lost its signal. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers dozens of times using various methods, so its not a method of install issue. The cards work perfectly fine until I try to install one of the newer drivers. Powering off/on the monitor does nothing. I have tried three different monitors, again no change. I have tried just one card, swapping cards, no luck. My motherboard drivers and bios are up to date. I have tried booting in low res mode, no luck, although booting into safe mode is fine. Has anyone had a similar problem and heard of any way to fix it. Thanks for any help.

A:Blank screen after installing driver

have you checked the manufacturer's web site for their knowledge base or forums where this might be mentioned ?

As far as I know, If the card is new, installing a new driver shouldn't make the screen go blank. I believe that only happens with an old card and a very new driver.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545, the screen is broke so I use an external monitor which doesn't project BIOS or Boot up so I cannot see anything. I found a thread on here that adds the Intel Graphics Driver for Mobile 4 Series for Windows 8 which I supposed would work on 8.1.

The link I installed:
Mobile Intel Series 4 and Intel HD Graphics 1st Generation

I installed it and restarted the laptop for the GUI to start.

But as I restarted, the screen was blank. I tried cycling through projection modes as I usually do, but this time It didn't work.

I have no clue of how to remove the driver to as I cannot see anything on the external monitor as I've tried it on 2.

I've tried booting into Safe Mode but as I've said, I cannot see anything on the screen so I'm not sure where I am.

Please help!

Help getting & installing a compatable driver for new Photosmart 7520.

Need to have 'Print Preview' in Printer Preferences. Newer Photosmart Printers have very few options under Preferences.

Have tried drivers for Office Jet 6100 & Deskjet 69800 as suggested in HP forums. Neither has 'Print Preview' in Printing Preferences.

My previous Photosmart C310 died, bought the 7520 as a replacement. If I remember correctly, when I upgraded to Windows 7 with the older Photosmart C310 I had to download an alternate driver. That printer worked fine for over 2 years with all the preferences. I failed to note the driver that worked with the C310.

Hope someone can help, or I'll return this one to Costco along with the $130.00 worth of ink.

Hey guys. I'm exhausted! I've been trying to chase down this problem all day. Here's what I got.

I just moved over my old system into my wife's case. Everything worked fine in mine and moved over:

mobo: Gigabyte GA-7vt600 1394 w/ amd 3000 cpu and 2gb of ram
psu: Enermax ELT500awt (500 watts)
hd: new seagate 160gb ide w/ xp pro freshly installed.
and gpu: bfg 512mb 7600gs (which seems to be the issue)
(if I'm leaving out anything important, let me know)

Again, everything worked peachy in my machine, I essentially just switched cases minus her dvd drives and wireless card. But now, whenever I try to install the nvidia drivers, the screen goes blank.

The first issue was that I get this error: "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit." Which I didn't really mind because I wanted the latest driver anyway. So I went and downloaded 178.13 which just came out yesterday or something and everytime I try to install it, it eventually goes blank (though the rest of the computer still runs).

So then I have to boot into safe mode to uninstall it. Then I tried both 91.47 and 93.71 from suggestions off of some old posts and I get the same error.

I downloaded the latest 4-in-1 mobo chipsets and installed them. As well as the latest directx 9.0c and get the same result.

I've run a driver cleaner program and cleaned out the registry. I even tried... Read more

I bought the game Shogun 2: Total War from steam and it kept crashing on startup and someone suggested updating my driver. I went onto the NVIDIA website and downloaded the latest driver, the only thing is that I logged on and my laptop screen resolution has changed from HD 1366x768 to 800x600 which is really odd. I went through my control panel to re-adjust this using the resolution slider they have but the maximum this will increase to is 1024x768 and I really don't like it!

Any information regarding this problem will be really helpful and I thank you all in advance.

+ I know this will make anyone reading this sigh but I didn't make a backup of my previous driver, which I know was very silly of me but I didn't realise new driver updates cause problems. I know, I'm kicking myself!
+ From what I can see there is no other problems regarding the new driver.

Hey all,
having some graphics card problems and would appreciate any help.
I built two identical computers for my parents from spare parts and some new components just to give them something to use until they can buy something newer. Both work fine with the onboard graphics, but video play back performance is obviously low (very choppy). Trying to install an upgraded graphics card and does the same thing in both systems.

System specs:
Dell Optiplex GX260
Windows XP home, SP3
2.4GHz Pentium 4, 1GB ram
Onboard graphics is Intel 82845G

Graphics card I'm trying to install is a PNY VCG62256APG
This is a Nvidia Geforce 6200 card, ddr2 256 mb, 4/8x AGP interface
Should mention the card was new last winter and hasn't been installed in any other PC's.
When I install the card and boot up it shows the specs of the graphics card in the upper left corner. Goes through the normal bios and windows boot screens. Windows opens in a low res graphics mode, says found new hardware etc etc, loads nvidia driver from windows update and prompts a reboot. After the reboot it goes through the load screens again and shows the windows boot screen with the progress bar for about 15 seconds, then just goes black. Monitor says "no signal" and goes into stand by. If I restart in safe mode I get a signal back and can open windows but in low res of course. I seem to be able to instal it OK, files are copied across, the screen resets, the new driver is listed as installed uder the device manager and I get a message saying the new hardware has succesfully installed and I need to restart to finish installation. When I do, i go through the usual boot through to the windows start up screen (with flag), then I get a blue secreen with "please wait....." after 5 secs the dots stop appearing, then within 30 secs the HD stops. The keyboard etc is frozen. I gave it 5 mins then reverted to last good config, and tried again deleting all previous nvidia drivers, but still get the same result. I also tried a different driver (83. something) and still the same. I had norton disabled during installation.

What's happening and what can I do?- I want to run the new driver so I can install a newer graphics card that needs 83.** or above.

I own a custom laptop on an MSI 16F2 platform. Few weeks ago my GTX 670M card died.

Out of better options, I bought an used GTX 660M from an acquaintance.

I had it installed, started Windows and everything looked OK. Then I installed the Nvidia drivers and after reboot, right after the loading screen, I got a black screen (with the screen still lit).

I went into Safe mode and uninstalled the driver. Then installed again and got the same result. Went into Bios, change settings, tried resetting CMOS, nothing worked. Installed Windows 7 Ultimate again, then Windows 8, same thing. I also tried the driver modding instructions on this forum, still nothing.

I have no clue what is wrong. If you have any idea, please help me with this.

Thank you,

My computer is Dell desktop running Windows XP Pro SP3. I installed a new display driver and after restart I saw the "Windows XP" logo but nothing after that, NO login screen. Wait for 20 minutes but still nothing on the screen. I think the computer completes its power up but nothing on the screen. I manually power down and then power up, again same exact thing: screen went blank after "Windows XP" logo. I did not see any booting options like: safe mode, Last Known Good, ...
I then put in windows XP CD and boot from CD then after loading, I chose "Repair" and then see DOS Command window.
with C:\Windows". I type dir and see listing of directory. But don't know what to do.
I think if I can some how get the original display driver on the windows XP CD to my computer so that it will use this instead of the one I installed last night.

Please help. Greatly appreciate your help.

I have been searching for a solution for a while now and everywhere but I still could not find one even inside Windows 7 forums. Please help me with this.
A couple of months ago, I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 64 bit, but after installing the driver for my HD4770 and after the required restart of computer, the OS will go on the splash screen where you could see the small balls to form a windows logo. After that it should go to the blue page with "welcome" but all i see is 1/3 of the screen is that "welcome" page with some short white lines, while the other 2/3 is just black and the computer hangs up. I rolled back the driver under device manager to get it back to 'standard vga graphics adapter' and then downloaded a new driver from ATI (Catalyst 10.10) but I still get the same thing so I went back to Windows XP.

Recently, I found out that Catalyst 10.11 is already available so I installed Windows 7 64-bit again. I upgraded the BIOS of my motherboard, downloaded updates for Windows 7 first, then installed the driver for my HD4770. After the Windows 7 splash screen, I get a 'blue screen of death'. I rolled back the driver again and installed the driver using Windows update. At first, I was able to load Windows 7 until I see the desktop; however, there are some short white lines scattered all over and once I move my mouse, the computer hangs up.

Hi, I'm new on the forum, and just learning the forum. Anyway, a few days ago I upgraded my PC from Windows XP Media Center Pro to Windows 8, and when I try to install the drivers from the cd that came with the gpu, a GeForce GT 430, the monitor just goes black. It worked when the OS was on XP MCE, but now it just goes blank. I tried googling solutions but I didn't find any real solutions, so I'm trying here. The specs of my PC are:

Windows 8 Beta Consumer Preview 32-Bit

4 GB Ram

Intel Core 2 Duo

Intel Viiv software (Or whatever the viiv is, I'm not the most technologically advanced person)

The GPU, Galaxy Geforce GT 430 1GB memory, DDR3, HDMI, DVI, VGA.

I have a 19 inch ASUS Plug & Play monitor. I can't really check the specs right now, so I'm currently saying these specs off memory. So, I don't know what else to provide, but can anyone help me with this? I already rebooted before, as this problem happened before. Big mistake, I had to reload the OS... System restore didn't work. And if your wondering how I got to system restore, I had to take the card out and connect to the built in video card. A little confusing? Basically:

Computer screen goes black and stays black when I try to install my Galaxy GeForce GT 430 graphics drivers. Its still blank now. Help?

A:Screen Blank upon installing Galaxy GeForce GT 430 driver

Hi and welcome to you.

Visit World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies | NVIDIA to download/install the driver.
Or even easier, a direct link for you: Drivers - GeForce

If you're having problems, boot to safe mode + networking. You can download/install there. Then boot to normal mode and run the installer again, so your control panel is installed well for it.

Hey guys somebody recommended this site for me to ask about my problem. Anyway I have a problem with some games like GTA 5, Watch dogs, CS : GO in which "audiodg.exe" process continues to use more RAM after I start one of those games. This only happens when I play these games. I saw a bunch of other threads that said mainly update your drivers and check the enhancements issue. I originally installed my audio driver using Driver pack solution Ver. 14.9. But after seeing these threads I tried updating my audio driver. I tried downloading it from the official site and from a bunch of others but each time I do so and restart Windows just freezes at login screen and then I have to boot into safe mode and use system restore to remove the new driver. Right now my audio is working but I don't have the enhancements option at all. Sorry if I got any grammatical / spelling mistakes english isn't my language. I'm also not that good at computers so please help. Here are my Laptop specs or what I managed to get from the systemrequirementslab detection tool.

A:Windows Freezing at login screen after installing driver

Hello and welcome Chuck now can I make a very simple suggestion that you get a dedicated sound card? I run the Asus Xonar DG in all my desktops and have never had a problem and they are really cheap.
The GUI for the sound is just fabulous (or I think it is) for mixing and generating difference effects and if you are into gaming or music (like me - music) you will find the Xonar the real deal.

The other stuff you have ben trying to get rid of I am not quite sure what it is you are doing. The after market fix things I don't like that Driver pack solution as I have found they create more problems as sometimes than they solve.

Anyway take a look at this https://www.asus.com/au/Sound_Cards/Xonar_DG/ by the ay I run 5:1 systems off mine my favourite being the Logitec Z506 Surround Sound Speakers Z506 again not expensive at all and the sound quality really good.

A:Blue screen on startup, after installing new driver for gts 250 e-green edition

Try this...

1. Download Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweeper (both have free versions; make sure the version will work with your OS) to your desktop screen and install.

2. Download the latest diver(s) for your video card but don't install them.

3. Uninstall your video card drivers and reboot your PC into Safe Mode. Run Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweeper but ONLY for the video card drivers. I had someone use it on their chipset drivers! If it doesn't find any video card drivers that is quite okay.

4. Reboot and install the new downloaded video card drivers -- not the ones on the CD.

I have two HP Officejets. I love them, except software wise they are a nightmare. I never could get any of the software to install properly but found out you can print with them anyway, and that you can scan from the Devices and Printers section of Windows 8. you just rightclick on the printer and say "start scan"

that is, until today. I've done multiple restarts but when you click scan now, nothing happens. the printer still prints fine. All the driver and software things from the website for HP take you in endless circles. The printer isn't recognized on the network, etc, even though it prints fine.

any suggestions?

Assuming this is the printer that you have, you should add and save its site in your browser's favorites/bookmarks list so you can quickly refer to it when needed.

Have you installed the most current software driver package (32.3) for it that was released in July 2014?

The "Solve a problem" section may be helpful to you.

dell optiplex 320 running Windows 8.1 standard.  The display is listed as ATI RADEON XPREES 200 in the device manager.
It is using the driver provided by the operating system - ATI Technologies dated 10/2/2010 and version 10-2_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc and ATI_ATI-Radeon-Xpress-X1100_A03_R172873.  From a cold boot the blue Windows logo appears and then the mouse cursor
in the middle of the screen, but the start screen with the tiles is not displayed.  Maybe this sounds weird, but I think the start screen and tiles is there, but just not being shown on the screen.  There appears to be nothing there, but I can move
the cursor around on the black screen and click in frustration.  Then I press the power button and the laptop enters sleep mode.  Once in sleep mode I press power again to resume the computer and then the lock screen shows up and I can see the start
screen and tiles and everything works like it should.  This only happens from a cold boot.  If the computer was on and restarted it does not happen.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Any suggestions?  I will check for a newer display
driver from ATI.  The only driver on the Windows Update Catalog is for Windows Vista.

A:Ati radeon xpress 200 series driver installing windows 8.1 pro black screen

mouse cursor in the middle of the screen, but the start screen with the tiles is not displayed.

Usually it is nVidia users who complain of this.  An explanation would be that you are seeing your secondary monitor display in an Extended display configuration.  When you press Win- etc. it would show on your primary monitor (which you can't
see).  So, press Win-P anyway and imagine that you can see its display.  Then you would press CursorUp, Enter and switch display configurations so you could see something.

only happens from a cold boot.

Then there is a feature in a boot that makes this change.  Try using Win-P again when you can see it to see what the configuration is then.

Hi: I have done a Print Screen of my desktop and pasted it in Paint. Then saved the file on my hard drive - which I have done in the past. But now I cannot get it printed out on a full page (81/2 x 11 Page). Why? I have done this before but cannot do so tonight. I can print but in smaller size.

I'm working at an office where when you hit the Print Screen button, it causes a printout in addition to the normal copy to clipboard. I just want to copy to clipboard without wasting toner and paper. It can't be a program on the computer as it's clean with just Windows 8.1

It actually happens on all the machines (whether Windows 7, 8, or 8.1). Is it a program installed on the server? Is it a setting in Windows? How do I stop this behavior?

A:Print Screen button will print to the printer! how to stop

By definition the print screen function only sends the image to the clipboard so if the printer is also involved then something else -- some other software installed on your machine -- is the culprit here.

One way to find out what it is is by unhooking the printer and then watching the screen to see what error messages pop up when trying to use the print screen function.
